I am Joe-Yo Loco for this place! I miss having an El Pollo Loco near me, so when I saw this one in Paso Robles, I just had to stop! I ordered a delicious chicken meal which was packed with flavor. I love that green sauce whatever it is! The Mac N Cheese was good and the salad was fresh and a nice size. I enjoy Horchata and it's probably a good thing I don't have one nearby. I did partake and it was delicious as always. For fun, I made myself a dirty Coke Zero with a splash of horchata and I got the enjoyment of drinking horchata without that 1000g of azucar. read more

Besides Being the most expensive fast food option it is also the least customer friendly. There were 3 people working none at the front counter. You have to order on a screen. They have a credit card only screen and then a cash screen with a cash intake machine attached to the right. There are a multitude of signs and processes to read, so be sure to have plenty of time. Nobody will greet you, just angry people behind you who are annoyed as well. When the food was ready, the drive through worker yelled my number in Spanish. There were several bags of food on the counter, so I waited to be told which was mine. She slid the bag over. I asked for the cups for the fountain drinks and she said,"Get them yourself." Apparently, that is self serve too. There was construction in the parking lot and several guys that that appeared homeless wandering around the outside in the area. It was a lot to navigate. Inside the establishment there were dirty tables. I did not use the restroom, but could smell it while waiting for the food. I will skip getting food here again unfortunately. We got here a little early and tried picking it up. Had not started yet since it was not in computer yet. Employee followed me to car to grab the order and take it on his phone so they could start making it. He was concerned for our 3 year old asleep in the car stating we should not have to worry and wait too long. Came back and gave our two waters before the order was finished and asked if we wanted sauces. Said yes. Came back out 3 min early with complete order. Found out is name is Marco! First I just want to say the woman taking my order through the drive through was very rude speaking to me. Her tone sounded like I was a bother. I understand it can hard to hear through the speaker but that doesn't mean you should be rude. She didn't hear when I wanted my burrito without cheese so I repeated it until she understood I was saying no cheese. Got home and had a couple bites until I realized there was melted cheese... I didn't eat enough for it to be a big deal but it was really upsetting since dairy isn't in my diet and hurts my stomach.... Good food, terrible customer service. We ordered online and on arrival had to wait 30 minutes. Stuff happens of course but the women taking orders simply didn't care. When I complained she simple said "I didn't ask you to wait". So just hope your food is ready on time because otherwise they are just not interested. read more

So we used to come here quite often. Then early 2022 we came and the food was not great and over salty. We realized the manager that used to be there, was no longer there. He was great and always had the place top notch. So we stopped coming. That being said we decided we would give it another try. The food was back to what it used to be...because you guessed it, the manager we knew and loved is back. The food is now up to par. Full of flavor, fresh, not salty. Staff is nice. The chicken was burnt and somewhat dry. I hadn't been to this location in two years. Something has gone wrong. The service is short staffed, even though I ordered online. I miss El Pollo loco! There isn't one anywhere near Marina, so when we saw one, that is what was for dinner. I love the meals. I love the chargrilled chicken. They're practicing social distancing here and limited seating. I got a two piece meal with rice and pinto beans. Two corn tortillas and a thigh and leg. It was tasty, just not enough! They got my order wrong. We opened the salad and it wasn't the correct one. They forgot our sides that we ordered. Second time coming here first time was amazing made me come back to grab some lunch and automatically was greeted and when I tried the order the lady told me to hold on. I ordered a classic tostada with no sour cream with a drink and a quesadilla and each time I tried to order something else she said ok what else before I could even finish my sentence when I got to the window she didn't greet me she just told me the total charged my card then slammed the window not once but twice. Stopped by for take-out on the way back to SLO. This was our original Pollo Loco and we used to stop on every trip north. Hadn't been here for a while, since the new SLO cafe opened. Succulent chicken! We got the family meal special, with nine pieces of chicken and two sides, balck beans and cole slaw. Super moist chicken and cole slaw, and those mysterious, murky black beans with their unique tang. We hunkered down at home and had a great, instant family meal thanks to the loco! read more

Tonight we picked up one of their chopped chicken salads (really good with that tasty cilantro dressing); an eight-piece chicken-only box (dark meat - don't judge); took them home to add to already-prepared dishes; and, voilà!, a feast! We rarely deviate from these favorites when ordering 'cause, frankly, not especially crazy about their other selections and sides. Which reminds me - my review wouldn't be complete without stating for the record how much we MISS the delicious cornbread EPL used to offer but now, lamentably, no longer does, and that we wish they'd just bring it back, already. Double check you have everything in your oder before you leave! The service here is not good. While you can't have the highest expectations for fast food service, it should certainly be better than what it is at this location. On multiple occasions we've gone through the drive through and realized that things were missing. One time it's the salsa, the next they give us 2 piece meals instead of 3 piece meals, another time they don't include any utensils or napkins. We've also experienced rude service here. Little things like greeting customers go a long way in the hospitality industry. The food here is just like at any other el pollo loco, no complaints there. read more

This is unquestionably the most expensive El Pollo Loco I have ever eaten at. I eat often at El Pollo Loco's wherever I happen to be, and this location is pretty much the same as you might find anywhere else. However, I noticed the prices here were considerably higher than any other location I have ever been to. A two piece combo with breast and wing goes for over $10 here. One of the main reasons I frequent this chain is that you can get a nice healthy meal for a very modest price. I wouldn't say that is true here. I think they are doing the chain a disservice. The whole point of a chain restaurant is that people can stop in and know in advance what to expect as far as menu selection and prices. Therefore, I wonder why their corporate office would permit them to get away with this. read more

Ok so I got a $100 gift card to El Pollo Loco and decided to give it a fair evaluation for dine in, pick up, and delivery! For dine in and pick up we had 0 issues! The orders were prepared perfectly and even included extra salsas! The same gentleman manager was working for these two orders! Super professional and courteous. He ensured repeatedly that the order was correct by matching items to the receipt! The food was fresh flavorful and Hot! It doesn't get much better than that! Now delivery was a different story. I ordered through their app and the down side is they charge you $8 for delivery! For those of us that have prime accounts (free delivery) with places like door dash or grub hub this is a $8 loss. The order was delivered cold and a bit late (via door dash) The salsas we're all wrong too. I have noticed this quite a bit when it comes to restaurants that have delivery service providers, they don't seem to pay as much attention to the orders that are being delivered, correct items, fresh hot food. But overall a great experience and now that I have an El Pollo Loco rewards, they send me amazing coupons all the time for $20 meal deals with three sides and lots of chicken (normally $28) read more

Hahah This El Pollo gets so much hate! Definitely not the best one I've ever been too, but the grub is solid - it's hard to beat the 3-taco combo for $5. The rotten moldy sponge smell overwhelmed us when we first walked in, but with no El Pollo in SLO, we'd already come this far and didn't plan on backing down. The salsas were mushy and a crying baby drove us outside, but we enjoyed a pleasant meal on the outdoor picnic tables nonetheless. The soft tacos were served as small silver bullets, wadded into their tinfoil wrappers, but were tasty and came out unscathed. Stopped for lunch today, half way through my order the sales lady started talking to another employee in Spanish. I asked her not to talk Spanish as I did not understand what was being said. She said she spoke two languages and could speak whatever she wanted. I said OK and left the restaurant. I called the manager, he did not seem concerned, but did say he would talk to her.
