It took persistently initiating a dialogue to gain some semblance of help that was quickly discontinued. As a young person of color, I will not be returning to this REI location, but will bring my business elsewhere. Really a same, I've enjoyed REI in the past but this experience has been discouraging.

The sales girl brings out two boxes and hands them over, pushing the 11 towards us. Turns out the 11 is actually a 12, unless of course we're in the UK then it would still have been the 11 she was purporting it to be. Understandable mistake, but now I have to make the hike all the way out to Natick, just to make an exchange.

The man said it was easy for them to put together and I said OK I'll get the rails and footings for over $600 and that was with a 25% discount for a Labor Day sale . NO WHERE was there a cost stated for any installation, which for this would be putting the pieces together. Which they can do in their sleep.Maybe the associate Renate was intimidated by a large man complaining that the easy installation was taking two hours more than he was quoted and he didnt have the time anymore. I ordered the parts later by phone, never a mention of the installation costs, Today when he called to say the parts were in he asked if I wanted them to put it together I said Sure, he then said it would be $145 more for this. I said it is no where on the contract of anything about any install cost and that should be quoted before. He said he did I said no he didnt and maybe he was intimidated by the very angry large man pacing the showroom. Now I look at the receipt and in very small type is "owes 145" then under it is "owes 35" which mean nothing to me because I paid in full via a card,but that is their way of saying they showed me the installation fee? Now what. is the $35 for? are they going to add that on? I feel like calling my card company and cancelling the order.

The staff there was extremely courteous, and made my 6 year old daughter feel at home. They were so nice to here, and Oliver the dog is so sweet. They set my daughter up with a great package that's cute and cost effective. I came in a day later and love my set up. They also saved me from buying an overpriced set of goggles that fogs up! What really sticks out though, is when I came in to get my ski-boots refitted. I'm new to this all, but they took great care of me and now my boots fit like a comfortable glove. Ski Haus is awesome. Make an appointment and start an awesome adventure.
