Every morning I walk my dogs, and while I'm on my walk I always see the white National Plumbing & Rooter vans on their way out to start their day. Several months ago I made a point of jotting down the phone number from the side of the vans and I programmed it into my phone. I had a feeling that someday National Plumbing & Rooter was going to be MY plumber. Lately, I haven't been getting hot water in my shower. There was ample hot water everywhere else in my house, but in my shower the water temperature never raised beyond luke warm. Today was the day I realized that this was the perfect opportunity to try National Plumbing & Rooter. When I phoned I was told that Tony, the owner would phone me back shortly. He phoned me back in less than 5 minutes. On the phone, Tony told me he could be at my house in 2 minutes. He arrived in about a minute-and-half. Tony and his right hand man Jose are awesome. I have owned my home for almost 10 years and National Plumbing is the only plumbing company that has and will every work on my plumbing issues. Very personable, great attitude and just a down right good guy. When ever I have had an emergency and needed assistance fast, I call Tony or the company and get a lightning fast response. A few weeks ago he replaced the plumbing under my kitchen sink that was Mickey moused prior to buying the home. Last night my wife took a shower and noticed the toilet gurgling and both bath tubs backed up in the home. Called and left a message that night. Tony called me at 7am the following morning and was at my house at 2. Ran a camera down the main and roots coming into the pipes. Tony, the owner of National Plumbing personally came to my house to address my plumbing issues. He arrived on time and came the same day I called. He explained what the problem may be and then how he would try to fix it. Tony laid a tarp and towels to keep things clean and he removed all trash when he left. In a short time my kitchen sink was unclogged and with no leaks and a new toilet valve installed along with a sink stopper and down rod that now work. I still think these guys are very good at what they do, but over time they became reluctant to do smaller jobs-----you know, normal kinds of things people call a plumber for. I actually had 2 instances when they didn't ever call me back after I left messages with their service and I needed help quickly. I had 2 other instances when they sent other people to do work when they were on "big jobs" and I didn't care for them at all, Another time when they DID come over they overcharged me ridiculously to put a part in my kitchen sink to "fix" a drip but should have done both the hot and cold faucets which would have been simple. Instead they did only one side and it started dripping again in short order. After all these disappointments I moved on because in subtle ways I started feeling disrespected by National Plumbing and did find an excellent, reliable plumbing service locally who come over right when you need them, 7 days a week, 24 hours a day-----and the owner Tony (I guess everyone in plumbing is named Tony) follows up every time to make sure you received superior service. Wow the guy in the picture actually showed up to my house. I was surprised, with a name like national plumbing I thought it would be one of those chains, but nope, Tony actually showed up. Very nice guy, I think he goes way beyond trying to make sure everything is good before he leaves. Our shower drain was clogged up, figured I can knock it out with a plunger, Nope not having it... Seems like the kids stuffed too much baby wipes in the toilet, and it backed the whole house up, not a very pleasant thing in the middle of the summer. In any case, Tony took care of it, unclogged it. As far as I can tell there are thousands of plumbers on Yelp, some with great reviews, and some not so great, and I am pretty sure any one of them could have unclogged the shower, but for some reason my personality clicked with Tony... The tenant at my rental property informed me that the master toilet continued to back up - despite several clean outs and replacement of the entire sewer about a year ago. I was hesitant to call my previous plumber as I believe he vastly overcharged for the sewer line replacement. So, I went to Yelp (and Angie's List) in search of a new plumber and am so glad I did - because, thanks to other positive reviews, I found Tony (and his assistant, Jose) with National Plumbing. Tony arrive the next morning after I called and quickly assessed that the old low-flow toilet was no longer doing its job properly and recommended a new one - to which I agreed. Tony left to purchase a replacement low-flow toilet, returned quickly and in less than an hour, my tenant had the flushing power she was lacking. I had such a positive experience working with Tony that I actually called him the next day to fix my own leaking toilets, which another plumber failed to accomplish despite multiple attempts. Tony quickly assessed the issues, repaired and replaced the problem parts and my toilets have finally stopped wasting water. I am so pleased with the work from National Plumbing: Tony and his guys! Great attitude!. Best experience of time management: communicating his availability, scheduling, how long job will take, etc. If Tony makes an appointment window, he keeps it. The time frame given is actually the time frame to complete the job! If he gives me an estimate, there are no surprises -- the final invoice matched the estimate. Provides a professional estimate for big jobs--something surprisingly difficult to get from some other plumbers. Over a few years, I've come to trust Tony and that he's not upselling me for unecessary things Plus, he's correcting previous owners' bad installs or repairs. Tony is such a breath of fresh air! I've had too many bad experiences with others in home repair/remodelling--rude, lacking common courtesy, late, no shows, questionable competency, etc. Best clean-up I've experienced from any hire! A first, they took ALL their garbage with them -- nothing was deposited in any of our trash/recycle bins. Over years, he's done smalled projects replace parts and repair leaks. Recent Major Jobs: Replaced our water heater tank with tankless, incl. necessary plumbing/venting. When they went under house, in crawlspace, they informed me of 2 separate locations of drain lines leaking and needing replacement (warned to plan for this a few years ago from another plumber). They just replaced those this week. Drain lines replacement: Tony made a point to show me the damaged pipes once removed. These old galvanized/cast iron pipes were truly clogged, rusted/corroded, One had a very long crack down a susbstantial length of pipe. They even removed an old clean-out which was improperly installed by previous owners' plumber--our other plumbers warned us not to use it since it could damage the toilet(s)! To replace drain lines, dug a hole at side of house...covered with stepping stones/pavers and rocks. I requested care not to bury rock with dirt as they dug. When finished, I was really impressed with how well they replaced it all-- I almost couldn't tell where the hole was recovered! Best clean-up: swept our front walk, cleaner than when they arrived. Even took ALL their garbage with them -- nothing was left lying around or deposited in any of our trash/recycle bins Both of these jobs are costly...any plumber...so I really appreciated that Tony didn't nickle-and-dime when he noticed one of the toilets didn't flush properly and replaced the flapper for me. If he tells me how long the job will take, it hasn't taken any longer than promised... The tankless install was promised as a 1-day job -- our house's existing structure/plumbing meant it took longer than anticipated to connect new plumbing to existing, but Tony & Jose worked a very LONG day to finish rather than come back a 2nd day. Tony's has a GREAT attitude: It took me a LONG time to decide to switch from tank to tankless. Spoke to several plumbers. Tony's quote was comparable to others. All plumbers, this was costly and complex (existing tank etc. wasn't installed properly). He answered ALL my questions. He was patient, no high-pressure, and always with courtesy and class. Took me 2-3 years to finally decide to move forward. Cost had gone up a little (unit and/or parts, Labor rate unchanged). Tony called to apologize about price increase, gave me a new estimate which had only gone up less than $100.. (Overall job a few thousand...included installing a sink and rerouting plumbing for it). I have used National Plumbing on a number of occasions. They are the best. They respond right away when you call and usually get there the same day (unless we call late in the day and then they come first thing in the morning). We recommended them to our next door neighbor and now she uses National as her go-to plumber too. Tony went over all my options for replacing my old tank water heater. Whether it was to get another tank water heater or a tankless water heater. He presented all the facts without trying to sway me one way or another. I thought his pricing was competitive and he is really knowledgeable. He worked with me on figuring out the optimal location for the tankless water heater and explained everything he was doing and why he was doing it. On the day of the install, Tony and Jose worked tirelessly to install the water heater. The hot water works flawlessly and I couldn't be happier. Tony also spent a considerable amount of time coordinating with the LA County inspector to make sure all the permits are signed off and good to go. I wouldn't hesitate to use Tony again in the future. For projects, I typically will have to make several bids and talk to a lot of different people to get a good sense of who to use and what my options are. I called to ask a question about installing a sink after I would decide to put a new counter top in my powder room, Tony said he would stop over to look at it and quote me a price. He would not charge me for the estimate. While he was here I asked him to look at my toilet as it had stopped working last week. He looked at it and told me what was needed. He went out to his truck but didn't have the part. He came back and said if I wanted to do it he would go and pick one up and come back and do it right away. I said yes. This company is as good as it gets, and we found them right here on Yelp. We first had them to our house to unclog our kitchen sink, and they were right out and very reasonable. Today one of our outside water drains was totally clogged and again, they came right over fixed it and even crawled under the house, at my request, to check for any problems. We went through several plumbers before we were lucky enough to find National Plumbing/Tony. He is punctual, his work is top notch, and you get a sense you can trust him. We've had him to our house about 4-5 times, sometimes to clean up work another plumber did and other work that was needed. My water heater was not working Friday morning. I'm a renter so the landlord's maintenance company chose the plumbing service. I am very glad they selected National Plumbing. I was told the plumbers would be here between 9 - 10 am on Saturday. They were here at 9am on the dot. They diagnosed the problem, left to get parts, came back and the repair was done before 11am.
