Absolutely if you have a vehicle that has a fob and it's a push button do not use this service. This man came. I waited almost 2 hours. OK this man came showed up. He puts the jumpstart on the car and is screaming at me to turn the car on first of all, it doesn't have a key. HORRIBLE! I was stranded on highway 1 at 2am and the said it would be $400 to tow me and I had to pay upfront. I asked for an email to be sent to me with a basic breakdown of the service I would be receiving and a guarantee that I would not be charged if the service did not happen. They ASSURED me that they could do that. I spoke to 2 different men and woman all telling me different information. The first man said that the driver was at a drop off 15 mins away. Woman said an hour. After waiting THREE hours the third man said that I will not be getting a tow because the driver is having complications and there is not any other drivers available for the next 3 days. DONT SPEND YOUR MONEY HERE! They are scammers and the customer service is terrible. I had to pay another $580 to a different company and was stranded from 2:00-9:00am. read more

He was there ahead of time and by the time my husband got to the location he had loaded the car on the truck and dropped him and the car to the vehicle dealership. Do not expect to get ALL of your stuff back when they tow your car. I called 3 times to make sure certain items were in the car and they said they pulled everything out for us. THEY LIE! I was not told they sent the car to auction until the day I went to pick my stuff up. And that was 22 days ago. When you call up to get I formation, they don't tell you SHIT. Thanks to their coming to change my flat tire with a spare, but I waited for 1.5+ hrs after the initial call (I was said the first staff didn't find me at the location. what for the cell phone?), and the timing was bad (evening rush hours). The worst experience with them was he hung up on me when I asked how long I should wait further and he didn't make any eye contact. He didn't confirm if I was a requester nor greet (no "Hi" at least?). What he uttered was only "That's it!" when it's done without eye contact or whatsoever. Had a flat tire on 101 South / Woodside Road - Menlo Park @5am. After dealing with ATT Roadside Service and their horrendous customer service for nearly 4 hours, they finally got the info right for the tow and sent Peter from National Towing @ 9am. I was in no mood to deal with incompetent people any longer after sitting on the side of the freeway for 4 hours and dealing with abrupt and ill-trained ATT Roadside Customer Service Reps!! I give props to Peter for professionally handling my tow . . and me! I was pretty angry and frustrated when he came to the location. He quickly handled the tow and did not add to my frustration. I was unfortunate to get a nail stuck into my tire and couldn't drive it far to a tire shop place, so we called our insurance for support and they sent us National Towing services. The service we got from the employee greeting us with the tow truck was wholesome, he was super nice, great attitude and greatly helped us out with advice how to go about with our tire situation. The insurance gave him an address to a tire shop far away from where we were, and the guy really helped us out letting us pick our favorite tire shop instead, and it was much closer and convenient too so he didn't need to take our car very far and we had easy access to get our car once it's driven there. Had a screw in the sidewall of my tire and didn't think it was a good idea to drive to a mechanic since the tire pressure was only 10 psi and hadn't changed a tire before, so I called a towing service. The first place I called put me on hold, so I called National instead. The driver helped me change it for the spare, explained things so I could do it myself next time, and gave me directions to a tire place. Friendly and professional, but failed to realize that one of the lug nuts was a larger size and therefore needed a larger socket wrench. He ended up sort of stripping it, as I later found out at the tire place, but overall still a good experience. Real fast service to the Stanford campus since they're real close. read more

I've been trying to track down a car for over two weeks, that had either been stolen or towed. I called the Mountain View Police Service Line and was told there was no record of the car being towed or in storage. I was then told I had to go into the Police Department with proper identification to prove ownership, which I did and report it stolen, which I did. Low and behold the car was at this lovely company now. So I called the number on the document the Mtn. View Police Department provided me. It was no longer in service. But....it was still in business. The girl that answers the phone is pleasant and was even more pleased when she told me it would take over three thousand dollars to get the car out. I said don't you make an attempt to contact the owner? We did and got no response. In my mind, that's fair enough, but wouldn't it be really neat to tell the police that you had the car? They only found out about it yesterday, at least, I think they did? After all the owner God rest his soul, is six feet under. So in the vernacular, coulda, woulda, shoulda is all that applies here. I had to pay the police department $161.00 for something, that's on me, I didn't ask. I'm older now, and almost everyone gets a fee these days, that's the reality of the world. But even when I paid I offered the car to the Police Department as a donation and was told the towing company can handle that for me. Again, fair enough. Just a little added note, I was handling this for the estate and had never actually seen the car, but had a CarFax on it, so I know it was no "cream puff," but it ran and had been serviced regularly and quite possibly a good car for someone. I guess I feel dirty, but it's morning and I did take a shower already, but still, it's had to believe people can conduct business in this way and sleep at night. read more

Wanted to drive my car to the repair shop for a problem with the clutch. On my way there the clutch died completely and I barely made it coasting into a parking lot. I called my Good Sam roadside assistance who dispatched National Towing. While waiting for the tow truck I read the horrifying Yelp reviews and was prepared for the worst. The truck arrived 43 minutes after being dispatched (which is reasonable during the morning commute hour). The driver was courteous and professional, loaded up my car onto the truck and let me ride with him to the repair shop. What more could you expect? National Towing did their job and they did it well. I give them 4 stars for a job well done. Others might have given 5 stars but I reserve those for rare, truly exceptional cases. read more

My car disappeared from downtown palo alto, and I approached some police officers about it, who informed me that me car was towed (apparently some spots become "taxi cab spots" between 11pm and 2am, do be careful!). After debating the legality of using a public good (parking spots) for private gains (taxi cabs), I went to pick up my car After paying and processing the $125 fine at the police station, I was informed that my car is at National Towing (their yelp rating of 1 star contradicted the officer's insistence that they are an "excellent towing company"). This is where it went from annoying to ridiculous. On calling the towing company, they informed me that they're charging me $350. For the first time in my life, I did an actual double take - "Three HUNDRED and FIFTY DOLLARS? That's ridiculous!". He sniggered and replied with "Well we have a contract". I had a friend call him and ask him about a normal tow, and he informed a flatbed tow was $85, with a $8/mile charge. Since they towed me 4 miles, and the overnight charge is $50, I expected to pay no more than $167. When I arrived, the driver was extremely rude, and told me that he has a contract with the city that says towing hookup is $200, and since it was a weekend, he's charging a $100 weekend release fee, and he's charging me $50 for the night. So I refused to collect me vehicle, rather waiting for monday which would make it a $300 fee. He then claimed that he will charge me an extra $50 for making him wait for me on a Sunday. I started recording our conversation on video camera at this point, and reaffirmed that I will pay his fees on Monday, for $300, and not pay the weekend release fee. At this point he said "ok, fine" and started his vehicle. The legality of this operation is dubious at best, since "gate fees" and "weekend release fees" are in the gray area of the California Civil Vehicle Codes, and the manners of the staff is ridiculously bad. You have to just push through and hate these people with everything you are to deal with them. On quoting the terrible yelp and citysearch reviews to him, he replied "Do you think I care at all about the public?". This about sums up this operation - absolutely no respect for you or your property. read more

They called me an hour before the driver got there, which gave me time to leave work and get home. The driver Carlos arrived on time and with all the necessary paperwork. This company is terrible. They towed my vehicle which was parked on California Ave next to Stanford. There are no posted signs and I had parked my vehicle in this location for well over a year while I was in graduate school. I left the country for one month. In that month they towed my vehicle, sold it, and then sent me a 2K bill for storage. This is not ok in a country where property rights used to mean something. read more

I've always heard that a flat tire is such an easy fix, but not for someone who has no idea on how to change a tire! I called the towing service who came pretty quick within 30 mins to my location. Scooter, came to the rescue. He was very friendly, funny, and fixed my tire right away. I told him I had never even seen a tire being changed and that I'd like to just watch and learn a little bit. When I was on my way to pick up some lunch in Palo Alto, I got a flat tire. I know how to put on a spare tire but I was in my business casual work attire and was unbelievably stressed out that day. In other words, I was just not in the mood. Therefore, I decided to call National Towing. They came out to where I was sooner than they had said and put on my spare within 5 minutes.The person who helped me was extremely friendly and helpful and I only wish that I had taken down his name so that I can compliment him publicly. The total cost was $85. Quite frankly, for the time and stress I saved, I thought it was worth it. I would HIGHLY recommend this place to anyone who needs a spare tire put on in the Mountain View, Los Altos, and Palo Alto areas. read more

This place made the potentially bad experience of a car battery dying and locking the keys in the car (at the same time) actually not that horrible. The truck driver was very helpful. After jump starting my car, he followed me to Sears, gave me some pointers about what kind of battery to buy, installing it for me so I didn't have to pay the fee, and teaching me how it is done so I could do it myself next time. Scooter drove up in a flatbed within the time that he should. He seemed to know what he was doing and very pleasant. I asked for a business card and he asked if I would write a review on Yelp. I told him I'd give it a try. My auto mechanic Ralph suggested them to me. The price of $85 seems reasonable and Scooter's demeanor and attitude was professional. He was also mindful of blocking the road when garbage pickup came and as quickly as he could moved his truck out of the way. Then he finished getting my car on board the flatbed and I was shortly after waving goodbye to my caddy and hoping it'd be much better when I saw it again. read more
