I can't say enough good things about this place!! Absolutely one of my favorite spots in LA. One night my family and I were looking for Mexican food for dinner. We first headed to a local chain restaurant, where we sat and waited for 20 minutes, and after being completely ignored, we bailed. We drove around looking for an alternative, while I searched Yelp for options. I came across Nativo, and we decided to check it out. We wandered in on a Tuesday night, a family of 6, and were seated outside. The tables and chairs are a bit low - more of a lounge than a dinner feeling, but the ambiance and decor are absolutely stunning! They brought us water in a gorgeous glass carafe, while we waited for our food. We ordered a bunch of small dishes, and lots of tacos, to share. Everything was amazing, with the chorizo potato tacos being my clear favorite! The adults in our group all ordered different cocktails, and each one was better than the next! On top of amazing food and drinks, our server was the absolute nicest, sweetest person, and gave us exceptional service. Came here for drinks and some light bites on a Saturday night. We got some nachos and taquitos to share for the table, very tasty and crispy! The cocktails were all really good and the bartenders can really just make anything you want. The inside has plenty of seating but outside has so much more! I'm could not possibly say ENOUGH good things about my experience with Nativo in planning our Bachelorette Dinner. I worked with Veronica, the Event Coordinator, Marlene, the Beverage Director, on the plans ahead of time, and they were everything you want in coordinating something like this - helpful, gracious, communicative, and clear! Nativo has INCREDIBLE options for parties, and they have thought of everything! I also really appreciated the transparent costs on everything and how well it was laid out for us. I swear, I've been bragging about my planning experience with this place with anyone who will listen. Then, the night of our actual event was just perfect! We had a great room space all to ourselves, a dedicated server, and they even got the heater working for us on our request! The chips and guacamole here are to die for. My favorite neighborhood bar. Nativo is a gem if you haven't already been. Everything from the decor to the drinks to the glassware to the layout is curated to perfection. The service is impeccable, they have professional mixologists who know exactly how to make a well balanced drink. This is a stark contrast to other bars in the area that pale in comparison. The taste of the food and drink has always been consistent, my go-to drink is the Penicillin. Nativo has a back lounge area with ample seating for large groups and the murals of Frida on the walls add a lovely touch. They have DJs that play good music, conversations are easy and the mood is dialed in. It was so full of flavor, they use two different types of cheese, panela and mozzarella...that combination is incredible. This is our third time to Nativo but it's been a while since we returned. There's no waiting service anymore, so you have to order at the bar. If you sit at the patio like we did, you have to go inside to order. And while that's not the worst thing, it takes more time. The drinks are awesome and some are elaborate thus take some time to prepare. The food portions are bigger which is nice. We had an assortment of tacos. I had the fish tacos, the fish was a pretty sizable tilapia filet and super crispy. We loved the corn. It's still expensive but at least the portions are good. read more

We were walking to A pop up at mi vida down the street and heard the music at Nativo and decided to stop in for a meal. We sat outside on a really nice night and got to enjoy the really beautiful outside deck with their chips and salsa. Ordered some tacos and esquite and i believe a mulita. The food was delicious and loved that the tortillas were not heavy but stayed together while eating. Since we share out food tortillas that dont fall apart are a really big deal for us. We had a gourmand friend in town who wanted to try something beyond the typical Mexican place. We had considered going to La Casita Mexicana, but the drive didn't make sense on a Friday night. I found this place on Yelp and we had a really nice meal and drinks. It is modern and has a really nice patio. We had great service and out waitress was really patient with our slow ordering. Definitely 5 stars for the Oaxacan Milk Punch which is perfectly clear and not milky looking at all. I could drink lots of those. We got tacos, chips and guacamole and the best was the Chile relleno. It was a great meal. Taking off 1 star because of those cocktail height tables. What an adorable establishment located off York in Highland Park. This restaurant opened during the pandemic and was originally supposed to be a bar. With all the protocols in place when COVID first hit, they ended up rearranging their lineup and decided to add food to stay open. It's a good thing they did, because their food was delish. Not only was their food delish, but I also loved how cute the interior and the added exterior/patio space was (it was originally supposed to be their parking lot, but like with every other biz these days, they had to change things up in the past two years). I'm a mezcal drinker, so I loved the fact that they had a mezcal flight and mezcal cocktails galore. The smokiness of the mezcal definitely won me over. I came back to Nativo on a Saturday night and had a wonderful experience. The ladies behind the bar are fabulous! The lovely Lorraine remembered me from my first visit a few weeks ago and I got to meet Grace (lead bartender) and another sweet lady who was making batch cocktails. All the ingredients looked interesting, so I asked her what she was preparing. She said it was called Lena De Pirul. It's made with Abasolo Mexican Whiskey, Nixta Licor de Elote, Mexican Campari, and Mole bitters. She brought me a little sample to try and even garnished it. It was quite tasty. I definitely recommend getting it. The drinks here are works of art. Everything is beautifully garnished. The gal next to me ordered a Sangria. It was so pretty I asked her if I could take a photo. The cocktail menu is very creative with a focus on Mezcal and Tequila from small batch distilleries in Mexico. I started the evening with their take on a Cosmo. It's made with Tequila and a cranberry cordial. (A portion of proceeds from the sale of this drink are donated to the Independent Restaurant Coalition.) It was so incredibly good. My friend ordered the margarita, which was fantastic! Since we had a late lunch, we ordered the chips & salsa and a side of frijoles. Everything was fresh and delicious. The salsa had just the right amount of spiciness. While we were there I noticed the owner, Gabriel Paredes, hard at work taking care of things and pitching in to make sure customers had a pleasant dining experience. I had to have a Sidecar before heading home. Even though it is no longer featured on the menu, the Lorraine happily made one for me. It was absolutely perfect! I found this overhyped Americanized Hipster Mexican spot to be overpriced with an extremely limited menu, and customer service was inattentive. Upon being seated (we were the only people there) the music was so loud that we couldn't hear our waiter, had to request to turn the music down just so we could hear each other and our waiter. The brunch menu was so small I just got a snack since there wasn't much to choose from. Avocado Toast was fine (3 1/2 Stars), bread was not crisp and heavenly accented with pomegranate seeds and quite small. The Brunch Ceviche ($17, 3 Stars) was sooo small and light on fish. Came to Nativo for the first time to celebrate a co-workers farewell!! This place felt like walking into a little oasis in the middle of Eagle Rock. I loved the chill atmosphere and calm energy.
