Iam 67-year-old African American women with health challenges. I enjoy the physical challenge, mental recharge, the silence and discipline I get from yoga. I consider the class to be a form of self-love, science of mind over body. There are times when Iam 100% in class and times when Iam not, but I always do my best. For various reasons over the past 8 years there have been times when I left the class early. To go to the bathroom, to cool down or for just not feeling good that day. Most of the time I finish all the classes that I have taken and that's why I been a long-time client at this studio. On Saturday January 25, 2020 I completed a hot yoga class and at the end I left class prior to the instructor leaving the room. Another student left the class at the same time. We both left quietly. I was sitting in the hallway trying to cool down when the instructor Carol approached me and verbally attacked me like an animal. In front of several students she ripped at me about leaving the room. She was rude, combative, and threatening. Her actions were hostile and retaliatory because I left the room prior to her. I tried my best to defend myself, but I was in shock. I went into the womens locker room, sat and cried. Carol showed no compassion or concern as to why I left the room. She told me that if I cannot stay in the room until she leaves, I was not welcome back. I paid good money to attend these class and no one should be disrespected by any instructor for leaving the room. I left at the end of the class during the 2-3-minute cool down period. During this class, a man left several times to attend to his dog which he brought to the studio. The man evenly just left class and I did not hear Carol admonish him for leaving early nor did I hear her reprimand the lady that left behind me. I practice yoga at this studio for over 8 years and completed over 1200 classes. The owner would rather lose a long-time client than deal with an overly aggressive instructor. Read some of the previous Yelp reviews. It does not matter if I left classes early no one deserve to be treated in this manner. Carol continued to berate me by stating that this was an advance class and that I had modified a balance stick posture and by now I should know the correct posture. I modify the posture because it hurts my back. She seems to take pleasure in cutting me down in front of other students. When I told her, I was 67 years old and trying to do my best, she stated that she was 60 and age did not matter. As you get older some postures are difficult. Instead of trying to provide help and show me the correct way, Carol chose to totally embarrass me. I am not going to tolerate such negative and vicious behavior from such a controlling instructor like Carol. Shame on her. I love yoga and will find another studio where the instructors are a bit more understandable and forgiving if a student leaves a class early or modifies a posture. I spoke with the owner and requested a full refund. The studio does not take calls during non-class hours, so I had to make two visits to the studio too get the charge removed from my credit card. read more

They have a 30 day unlimited pass for $40 for 1st timers otherwise a one time visit is $16. I only went a few times because the 6:00 class is right after another class and it was really smelly inside the room, almost like there wasn't enough time to air out the room before the next class. I just couldn't stomach the smell. I did go to the 8:00am class on the weekend (the 1st class of the day) and that was nice, the woman had a really calming tone and gave good instruction and it didn't smell like sweat/b.o. I have been trying to get an unauthorized charge to my account resolved for months. They refuse to contact me back regarding the issue in any way. I've emailed/called/voicemail and have been forced to leave a complaint with the BBB. I feel this is a complete lack of professionalism and I'm not sure how someone can run a business this way. I wouldn't trust this business with your CC info and make sure to check your statements regarding any charge from them. If you think you're buying a single pass, they may just charge you for whatever they feel like instead. read more

I bought a Groupon to try out this studio. Although I have no complaints about the studio facilities, I was charged $150.00 (full membership price) when I went in to redeem my groupon. I have called MULTIPLE times and emailed and have recieved no response. I was wrongly charged and would like my money refunded. The negative reviews are true, especially about the owner, Leanna. I bought 1-month unlimited through Groupon despite the negative reviews thinking the people complaining are those that don't have hot yoga experience in the past. I've only gone 2 days and I had negative experiences on both days with Leanna. First day, I was talking to the yoga instructor behind the counter. She was nice and supportive. I told her that I used to do bikram yoga over 10 years ago. Leanna was next to her listening and injected herself into our conversation by being rude and tacky. She told me in her aggressive tone that I'm lucky because nothing's changed with yoga. I was shocked. The reason I told the instructor that it's been 10 years for me since I did yoga was to warn her that I'm not at my best. I wasn't suggesting that yoga practice has changed. I was hoping they'd cut me some slack because I'm a beginner. The second and last time I came, the male instructor was joking around about drinking water even when we're not on a water break. I thought I'm glad he's honest and showing us that we're only human. As a previous yoga practitioner, I am aware that you're supposed to drink water only during breaks and not leave the room even when it gets really hot. You're supposed to just sit still if you can't do the postures to acclimate your body. Well I was nearly dying from the heat this day. So instead of walking out of the room, I stayed. But I did drink water a couple of times when it's not a break because I was really hot. As I mentioned before, I've done yoga in the past and even though you have set expectations, it's normal that people leave the room or drink water during non-break times. I've seen it both days I was there, and I've seen it at other places. The instructors are almost always very understanding. Not Leanna. As I was leaving this day and the instructor was saying goodbye to me, Leanna stopped me to ask if I read the packet handed to me on my first day. I was confused at what she's getting at because there's a lot of things in the packet, but I did read them. So I said yes. She asked me again, if I read the etiquette guidelines. I said yes. At this point I didn't know what I did wrong. That's when she said she saw me drink water a couple of times when we're not supposed to. I was thinking, the yoga instructor was doing the same thing and joking about it. In my head, I was thinking are you serious with this attitude? I knew from that point on I was not coming back. I was exhausted from the practice and the hot room. The last thing I need was to be told off when I'm just a beginner starting all over again and it's my 2nd day. It's been over 10 years since I did yoga, cut people some slack. What if I have health concerns? She's gonna stop me from drinking water? I think not. Bye Leanna! read more

This place could use improvement. I wish the teachers would use different yoga poses not the same poses every time. I would still buy a pass for this place since it's the only Bikram yoga in Natomas. However, I would only buy a punch card and probably attend once a week or every other week. I like the 6am teacher. She makes tiny changes on poses once in a while. The 7pm teacher (I think his name is Mike) will go on a detail why each pose is important which is good. This is just an average Bikram yoga place. It could use an improvement. read more

Went to bikram class and instructor (Carol) told the class not to drink water at certain times because it's rude, not to leave class without telling the instructor first, and I also noticed in the instructions that you shouldn't wipe your sweat at certain times during class. Instructor was blunt, tough, not very friendly, and pretty much told the class to suck it up and this is how yoga is supposed to be. That's the impression I got. If I'm dehydrated I should be able to drink water when I am feeling thirsty. If I'm feeling faint and struggling to breathe due to humidity I should be able to leave the class. This may be a great yoga studio for many people but it isn't for me unfortunately. Note: ALL the classes at this studio including yin and vinyasa are held hot. read more

This is my spot!!!! I live in EG and drive to Natomas to attend the Bikram style classes. They have other offerings but the 26&2 classes (or variants on the style) are my absolute favorite and Natomas Yoga Studio is the place to be. Tonight I took Silent Bikram with Shirley and it was exactly what I needed after a long day. This class is challenging but you will get out of it what you put into it. I have also taken classes with Carol and Leanna. The instructors are supportive, and friendly, each infusing their own style into the class. I love it! The studio space is thoughtfully designed and well maintained. There are showers in the restrooms and cubbies for your belongings. They do lock the doors, for the safety of the students so it's best to arrive a few minutes early. This is not the cheapest yoga studio, but it is by far one of the best in the area. Bring your own mat, towel, and drink plenty of water. It gets HOT in there!! read more

Pros: Actual yoga instruction is good. Studio is clean Class times are good. Class variety is good. Cons: Customer service sucks so bad I was upset during yoga. Listen, if someone is upset during yoga there's clearly a problem. 1. I arrived 10 mins before class started. The woman checking me in was annoyed because I should have arrived earlier since I needed to register. I could tell and I felt bad so I let her bad attitude slide. Another customer came 5 mins after I did and she was even more annoyed the woman could tell so she asked if she should come back another day and the owner said "you're already here you might as well do it" I thought that was rude but you know whatever. THEN during class two women leave mid class because, well it's effing 105 in that room and it's hard, the owner then started making rude comments about them and their inability to stick it out. I was really surprised by that. 2. I was on my way to class and I realized that I forgot my mat and towel but I knew that I would either be late or not show up at all so I decided to rent one there for $4. I arrive and stand next to the front desk. There's a woman breaking down boxes that I've never met before. She doesn't acknowledge me for about mmmm 4mins. She finally asks me if I need help and I ask her to rent a mat and towel. I pull out my card and then she says under her breath "oh it costs so much to run it" I say excuse me and she says "oh you know they charge so much to run these things" so then I said to her "I never carry cash so should I just not come to class if I forget my mat and towel?" This is actually hilarious she says to me "oh no, next time I'll just charge $20 on your card and keep it on your account for future use" I WAS LIVID! She knew she upset me because she had the nerve to walk in to class and say "It's one of those days- I already made one person upset" I'm standing there so UPSET it took everything in me to just let it go and participate in the class. This isn't like other studios I've been to. It almost seems like a good beginner yoga studio. I was expecting class to be more relaxing (like music and a soft voice leading you into positions) but it's not as much as other studios I've attended. The studio is clean and the staff are very friendly. I seen some reviews concerning the owner and her customer service so I feel I should voice my opinion. I believe she is upfront and blunt. She has a sense of humor and calls it like it is. For the sensitive, It can be misconstrued as rude, but I thought she was funny. Unlike other studios I've been to, this one has a variety of people attending (men and curvy people). I felt more comfortable here for that reason. Im a new student to NYS but I am so happy I've found this place. The instructors and community are incredibly supportive. The class schedule is varied enough I can always jump into a class whether it's early in the AM or after work. I emailed, called, and filed a complaint even contacted my bank to stop the fraudulent charges yet they continue to start charging. Please DO NOT even think about joining this facility. The Natomas Yoga Studio is my happy place. It's my home away from home and I feel very blessed to have found this studio. I take all the yoga classes that are offered at the studio and reap the many health benefits from my practice. The instructors and practioners are AMAZING and have become my Yoga Family. I encourage everyone to try a yoga class, whether you start out with a yin class and transition slowly to the hot yoga class or you try them all within the first 10 days. I can guarantee you will feel a difference in your health and mental status, you may lose weight, and will definitely sleep better. Some practioners have been fortunate to no longer need certain medications because their health has improved because they do yoga. If you had a bad class, come back and try it again. Don't blame the instructors or the hot room if you are having a bad class. All you gotta do is stay in the room. Its so easy to blame others when you are struggling in the class, but sometimes YOU are the one that did not prepare for the class. Did you hydrate throughout the day? Did you eat the right foods that won't give you heartburn while in class? NYS is a place to come and unplug from the world. Each session is Simply the Best Workout I have ever done to date both Physically and Mentally. And I consider myself a Serious Athlete. Leanna is an instructor with very rare qualities to be found. She does not only lead, encourage, but also does it in a way that is Compassionate, Engaging, and Humors..like Professional Athletes and Hard Core Yoga Believers Do. She pushed me to my limits, each time, then beyond...till these limits shifted into new territories. All the instructors have similar qualities. If I could give less than one star I would. I do not make it a practice of writing bad reviews for any business. As a business owner myself I am aware of how customer service can greatly affect... in a "make or break" way, any establishment. Unfortunately my experience at the Natomas yoga studio was far less than what I expected. I found the studio on the "MINDBODY" app, and I was very excited to try a hot yoga class for the first time. The class description never indicated at any point that a 10-20 minute early arrival time was necessary to partake in the class. The class was scheduled at 9am and I arrived at 8:55am. As stated in a previous review, no one was at the front desk so I stood there for a minute, looked around, still no one in sight. I finally walked around the corner and looked down a long hallway to see if anyone was working. A woman came out, who I later learned was the instructor "Carol" and informed me that since I was late, which I was not late, I could not take the class because of paperwork that was necessary to participate. I asked her if I could see the form and it was on the desk, literally a one page Basic waiver with name, address ,phone number,and signature. I could have filled out the waiver in literally 20 seconds. Instead, I was ridiculed by "Carol" about how I could not attend the class because it was now 9:01 and she needed to go teach her class and that if I was a responsible adult I would have known to come in earlier. Not only was Carol rude, she was down right nasty, to the point that I was offended by her behavior and utter lack of respect for me as a person, and especially a potential new client for the studio. I left.... I was very upset by the interaction and felt that I was treated without a doubt, with zero respect by this establishment, so I called the owner. I felt that it was only fair to let her try to rectify this situation. To make a long story short, again the customer service was sub par. I would have hoped for a better outcome, so that I could have enjoyed a local business that offered something I was really looking forward to being part of.... I will never recommended any business that allows for anyone to be treated as poorly as I was by its In response to your reply... what a joke!! Are you nuts??? A police report? Threats??? You should really not own a business, you clearly are incapable of understanding how to treat a customer or what makes someone want to return. You are pathetic. Natomas yoga studio, is my peaceful, beautiful, relaxing place to zone out, and bring my mind, to focus on me, taking care of me, so I can take care of others, I have been a member, since 2013. Let me tell you, my schedules work around my yoga, l have a T-shirt, that says (OK BUT FIRST YOGA). My yogi buddies, always compliment, when I wear it. This studio is like a big family, everyone is so friendly, supportive, very warm hearted. One would think that in today's world of controversy in this country that in a yoga studio, one owner would practice compassion, kindness and love. I keep thinking that each time I go back the owner wouldn't be act fake and fake smiling. Will never go back or ever recommend this studio to anyone. It would be a beautiful place to practice if she didn't own it. Not a student of Bikram whatsoever let alone a true student of the practice nor a true yogi at that. I want to give this studio between a 3 and a 4 rating. I tried about 6-7 classes here, with 4 different instructors during a one month trial last spring of 2014. The studio is clean. The room is hotter toward the front on the left side of the room. I like to be up front as much as possible, but that side was way too hot. They have gender designated showers in the restrooms. They also have a free water filter; which is awesome for refilling your bottle. The downside is that the instructors are a bit militant and two of the women seemed angry and unfriendly; although nice to the "regulars". Also, during wind relieving pose, one of male instructors kept correcting my leg position while standing over me, although the correction was exactly the same as it was in the first place. read more

Its been more than an hour since I left the class and im still sweating like crazy! I have conveniently reserved my spot online and got the $40 deal which is good for 30 days for new students. Came in today at 9am and the instructor and a lady greeted me when i walked in. She escorted me to the big hot....super 105 degrees hot room and gave me a towel to lay on top of my mat. Then the whole 90 minutes of burning oven like scorching yoga begun. This is the part when I thought,oh boy,what did I get myself into again?!! The instructor was very good and thorough.Directions were given clearly and I never felt awkward being in there.Knowing that its my first time and dont have a clue about yoga at all. The lady from the front desk and some other students were very helpful during the class.I didnt feel embarassed looking like a sweaty mannatee gasping for breath! I loved the "dead man positon" .Thats the only time whales can actually lay down on the mat and play dead. After the class,i felt sooo good.Exhausted from the heat but it feels detoxifying! Im coming back tomorrow for a.other "whale baking session".! read more

All the instructors here at BYN are great, each brings a different perspective to the class. They are all helpful, nice, and welcoming. The yoga room is spacious and carpeted. The studio is well kept and clean, bathrooms are stocked with basic essentials (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hand wash, and qtips!) Each bathroom (men/women) has 2 showers. The yoga students are also nice and welcoming. As another review says... there is no judgement! Everyone is there to do yoga, beginners up to seasoned practitioners- all are welcomed. There are a variety of classes to choose from: traditional Bikram- 90 min, Bikram 60 minute, Silent Bikram (for seasoned practitioners) , Yin Yoga 60 min, and PIYO 60 min (a combination of Pilates and Yoga). If you are interested in Bikram, I suggest you start with the traditional class- 90 minutes versus the 60 minute class. This gives you the "full" Bikram experience. The 60 minute class is FAST. If this will be your first Bikram class, take a traditional 90 minute. Yes, it is 30 minutes longer, but you have a break in between each posture (savasana). In the 60 minute class.. not so many savasanas. Give yourself the benefit of the full 90 minutes. Yin and PIYO are also classes that I suggest everyone try. Yin is relaxing and gentle stretching, each pose held for a few minutes. PIYO is fun and a great workout. There is plenty of parking (located next to a grocery store). Easy to find location, right off the I-5 freeway and Arena Blvd. There are many stories of growth and positive health changes in the yoga room - ask any practitioner when you come by to take a class! read more

I am so glad I tried Bikram Yoga! I swear it's addicting. This location is awesome because it's never too full, they have multiple sessions so you can go according to whatever time is convenient for you. They keep the bathrooms clean, thank goodness. If it's your first time going remember to bring a water bottle, a yoga mat, a towel, and I'd recommend you wear shorts and a tank top. If you forgot your towel or mat you can borrow one from the front desk. The staff is super sweet and nobody stares while your doing yoga everyone's too focused on themselves. Highly recommend trying hot yoga. It's life changing. I would have weekly visits to the hospital there was always something wrong with me or my immune system and I swear yoga did miracles. I haven't been to the doctors in 3 months and for me that is a sigh of relief! You feel great after the session is over and definitely get a goodnight sleep. read more

I've called multiple times and always have got a different person but yet they all have the same rude harsh tone! I practiced yoga at CorePower in another city for three years before moving to Sacramento. The two CorePower locations are 30-45 mins from my new house in Sacramento. So I knew I needed to find a new place to practice yoga. My husband and I tried another yoga studio in Midtown, but ultimately didn't like the huge class sizes, the inconvenience of having to find a parking spot and then pay for parking on the street and worrying about our safety at night on our way back to the car after class ended. We wanted to find a yoga studio close to use, with a welcoming environment, plenty of parking and a variety of classes. My husband found Natomas Yoga Studio online and decided to try it out. After one month, he had immediate results.... weight loss, reduced stress, slept better at night and increased muscle mass. I decided to join him at the studio a few months later and we have been going together ever since. I never thought I could do Bikram yoga or enjoy being in a hot yoga classroom. But I surprised myself, I enjoy the hot classroom and have enjoyed the many benefits from practicing Bikram yoga. Natomas Yoga Studio offers a great workout at an affordable price, our two individual monthly memberships are the same price as what I used to pay per month at CorePower. There is plenty of free parking outside the studio in a well lit parking lot. Additionally, I have experienced better results from my Bikram practice in terms of muscle gain, muscle tone, increased energy levels, better sleep at night and overall health. I love having the same instructors who are always welcoming to my husband and I. If we get busy in our lives and miss class for a couple of weeks, we receive a friendly reminder email that Natomas Yoga Studio misses us and encouraging us to come to class soon. This really helps to motivate us to get back into the yoga studio and practice yoga. Who knew I would love Bikram Yoga as much as I do? This studio plays a huge part... clean, hot, and non-judgmental. The teachers are fantastic- each with his / her own style. There are a variety of classes to choose from: 90 minute, 60 minute (power hour), silent (!), and Yin (a stretching class to work on your shoulders, hips, and hamstrings). The best part of BYN? The people. On my first day, I was told some tips to help me get used to the heat (keep your eyes open, breathe, sit down if you need to....). And they encouraged me to come back. I would recommend Bikram Yoga Natomas to beginners. My first time doing Bikram Yoga was at this studio. The first day, I didn't know what I was getting myself into and it was HOT! Ive only ever used yelp to praise and support local businesses. Although today I had an unfortunate experience with Leanna. This was my second class at this studio. (We just moved here and love to go to yoga regularly so we are looking for a studio) and upon arrival Leanna was very rude and aggressive. She was tactless in what should have been a simple delivery of information about the studio and how she "runs her business". I informed her with a whisper that I didn't need a key card but before I could tell her why she got upset and yelled at me as I was signing in. I didn't need a key card, because I wasn't returning. I purchased a new student package to try out the studio and quickly realized it wasn't for me. My feelings were validated once I had that interaction with Leanna. She found me in the room and tried to force me to take the key card. I could have taken it, but I was upset with how I was treated and told her no. I also told her the way she treated me was rude and unacceptable. Yet again she tried to force me to take it anyway. Finally after telling her no 3 times we parted ways. I chatted with a very nice guy before class started and he ended up apologizing on her behalf. He informed me that she can get like that. Even if that was her first time acting like that, it was unwarranted and unacceptable. I would not recommend this studio if Leanna is there or teaching. Also beware- for the most part the regulars like to let you know they are regulars. They're not very friendly or welcoming. read more
