This was a great experience, it is 70 degrees and 99 humid .. make sure to bring lots of water comfortable/ cotton breathable clothing. The tour guys are very knowledgeable, we did both tours, and highly recommend them. One is more walking up/ down ramps, the other has 180 stairs. Good health/fitness highly recommended, luckily my boys are used to hikes, mountain bike trailing so it was easy for them. Remember I'm adventurous, and anything with walking up/down hills and having to push myself is my cup of tea. Also you can't leave without trying the ropes /zip lining apparatus. A MUST SEE!! I did the basic tour of the caverns and it was a great time. I came when it was cold and everyone had a sweater on. We were advised that it would get warm inside the cave and it did. So be mindful of that when visiting the place. Our tour guide was great. He gave us some tidbits about the place and its history. There are different cave formations that you want to see like bacon and huge formations and more. The walk is bearable from small children to older folks as there are stops and benches in some areas of the tour. read more

Boy, this place has changed since I was a kid! We thought we'd finish out our trip with a visit to Natural Bridge Caverns and there was no regret. It's pretty easy to find considering all the signs to get there. There's a wild life safari (possibly, maybe) that seems cool. That's on your right on the way to the caverns and has its own entrance. We didn't do that this trip, but we'll go back and do that next time. Anyway, the caverns are to the left and it's a full out amusement park now. Once upon a time it was just a cave. It's also not cheap. At all. We bought 4 tickets to the cave and 4 maze tickets. The maze was Amazing. For real. There's check points to go to in order to stamp your ticket, and the clock in/out of the maze. My oldest and I made it in 20 minutes. The cave is awesome. It's quite a trek, so if you have bad knees or anything don't do it. It's about a 70ish minute hike underground, so keep that in mind. Also keep in mind that once to go down into the cave, you must go back up! It's pretty awesome. I'd recommend this to just about anyone. We're looking forward to going back. read more

This is a must see! Worth the money and the next time I'm here, I want to do the adventure tour. It's a 4 hour tour where you go through the caves and have the crawl your way through, seems exciting. We did the discovery tour, it takes about 75 mins to complete and let me tell you is it worth it. It is spectacular! It is warm in the caverns and very humid, I would recommend taking short sleeves if you plan on taking the tour because of all the walking, you'll start sweating. I went to natural bridge cavern with my husband after making a reservation. I was really excited about here after seeing so many photos, and it did not disappoint. Everything was very well organized, and we moved through the cave in small group (maybe about 10 people or so). Each station of the cave had staff members explaining and answering questions. It was humid inside. I didn't spot any bats here, but it was still fascinating. I have posted photos of this place and the pictures don't do justice. It took my husband and me a little less than an hour to get through the whole route. I would return for another route. read more

Wow! This was the most amazing thing I've ever seen to date. Pictures do not do it justice by any means. I highly suggest to do both the Hidden Passages tour AND the Discovery tour. Worth every penny spent. The views were just absolutely breathtaking and mindblowing. It's truly amazing that water can cause these formations. And the caves are just so huge! My fear of heights kicked in sometimes, but I managed. I highly suggest not to bring young children here, I would wait until they are at least 12 or so because of safety issues and it could be a bit scary for the younger children. These caves are definitely something to put down on your bucket list. Now I can check it off of mine! read more

Really wanted to love the caverns, but it was tough to enjoy yourself. First off the group was so large if you were stuck at the back you couldn't hear anything the guides were saying . Second you were rushed through. By the time you got to the main viewing area you were told you had to move on even though the group was clearly large and the people in the back didn't get to enjoy the areas. It is gonna cost you to see nature's wonders. It was cool, though. The kids did the zip line/aerial jungle gym thing as well (extra cost) and had a good time. As for the caverns? Pretty impressive. Lots of downhill and uphill walking on damp ramps/stairs...mostly ramps, except for the last uphill segment. Some sections are very steep. The caverns have a nice variety of formations and rooms. Could not imagine what it woulda been like being the first person to explore the caverns here...with nothing but a miner's lamp. Up top, they have a gift shop and small eatery along with the ticket counter area. All in all, a good half-day of entertainment. read more

It is very cool the sights you see in the Caverns. One warning: I bought tickets online in fear that they would be sold out in person and to save time going to ticket counter but when I went to buy the tour we wanted was not available on line so I bought the other one. When we got there we had to go to ticket counter to redeem online tickets regardless and the people next to us just walked up and bought tickets to tour we wanted in the first place. Point being maybe just wait and buy tickets there. Also in case you are running late since online tickets are non exchangeable/refundable. Give yourself extra time as they have quite a few extra things to do and look at. read more

Great family fun. Our teen and K aged kids both had so much fun at this place! They both loved the cave, it truly is a beautiful cave. There is also an obstacle course and a timed maze to do above ground for all ages, which requires a harness to do a zip and rope course. Our K aged kid loved it. I really love going to this place, I have been twice. I didn't much care for the tour, as mentioned by someone else, it was rushed. There were way too many people allowed on my tour, we could barely fit, it was difficult to hear the guide and we were told to keep moving. Not nice, with the added heat and humidity. The tour size was huge and we were really moving through there. The guides seemed fairly knowledgeable from what we could hear. The staff was nice as well, it just could have been executed better. The view inside is fairly fantastic though we really liked it and there are a few things to do in addition to the caverns as well. Parking was abundant. Bring lots of water as it is very hot inside and out if you Come during the summer. I seen a few strollers being pushed but they had a real tough time I wouldn't suggest it. Kids will love it, although be aware the walk can be very slippery and a bit steep in some places for those who are not walking well. read more

This review is for the Lantern tour. We came on a weekday and since the tour occurs so early in the morning at 9AM, we were the only tour group. The tour is a unique experience that describes room by room how the original explorers of the cave discovered the caverns including crawling through small crevaces and traversing muddy waters. I enjoyed hearing about the adventurous explorers who were the first to find the caves. It does not go over the structures of the cavern. The tour is conducted in darkness and you use a dim electronic lantern to guide the way. The tour guide did have a brighter flash light that he used to point out areas that were too dim to see with our lanterns. The tour ends in the largest room of the cavern and the grand finale was turning on all of the lights in the cavern at once The caverns were pretty impressive! The price was $21 for a weekday morning. We were done by 10:15am and headed on over to the safari ranch before it got busy there too. read more

Natural Bridge Caverns was a part of my bday weekend getaway. I went here with my siblings. We had a great tour guide who was very knowledgeable and went the pace of our tour group. He was friendly and easy to approach and ask questions. Highly recommend the tour--the cavern is beautiful and stunning. So much to see and learn. There's more to do here than just take a tour of the cavern. The cavern tour itself was very interesting and the cave included some amazing rock formations. Definitely worth a trip! Tip: Stay towards the front of the group if you want to hear what the guide says in each area. There were some very slow walkers in our tour group, and the guide started speaking before everyone made it into each room. There are a number of other activities on site. We opted for the maze (the 4-year old really enjoyed it) and the mining sluice. For the sluice, you purchase a bag of mining 'rough' and use the water and strainers to discover gems, arrowheads or other items that have been included in the 'rough'. Took the Discovery Tour. Our tour guide was not very personable, and was so lacking in energy. I don't want to call him out since he is probably new to the job market but the management seriously needs to invest in skills development. They said the tour was 75 minutes. We were out in 50 minutes, which was fine because I was ready to go do we could get to the Gristmill by 11am for lunch. The tour guide was so hard to hear, needs to speak up. What we could hear was scripted and corny jokes. Overall, it is a nice facility, dated but clean and well maintained. The employees are all really nice. The cavern is 85 degrees when you factor in humidity so be prepared. They say "70 degrees year round," but the reveal that it is actually feels alot warmer with the 100% humidity. Expect to sweat. Also, it is very steep, if I had fallen down I would have brought down everyone behind me in a domino effect. The railing you are supposed to hang on to is wet due to the constant dripping of water from the cavern walls and there are parts with no railing and it's a third degree felony to touch the walls! read more

This was the perfect place to bring my sons on a hot summer day in San Antonio. The temperature in the caverns was at least 20 degrees cooler. We took the Discovery Tour and it was amazing to see the main rooms of the caverns and the larger stalagmites and stalactites. I was seriously in awe. They also have other tours depending on what you would like to see, so I will definitely look into doing a different tour the next time I'm in San Antonio. I did the standard 'discovery tour' and I have to say, I'm very glad I did, because this was about the only really cool and unusual thing I saw on my trip to San Antonio (if I'd seen the huge bat cave nearby, I'm sure that would have been at the top also, but my schedule didn't permit it, and you need a lot of planning to go). It took millennia to create these formations, so you can surely spend an hour to admire them, and even electronics-dependent kids can take a few minutes from social media to raise their heads and admire the spectacles of nature on display here. Great private cavern north of San Antonio (so good pit stop during a drive between San Antonio and Austin). Forrest Y got us tickets for the discovery tour with canopy ropes course.. and it was one of the highlights of our trip to Texas! The caverns are majestic, clean, and the trails were well-managed but it is a bit hilly and long so not the best for little kids or folks that aren't as physically agile. There is a picture spot at the end. We had never seen a canopy ropes course before (basically a jungle gym for adults) and had a lot of fun navigating the various obstacles, felt secure with the safety features and there were plenty of employees there to make sure everyone was following rules and being safe. We were on a family trip with ages 4-74 and decided to give it a try. The whole experience exceeded any expectations we had. Did the Hidden Passages tour, it was really cool! You go down a 160 foot deep shaft that's only 22 inches in diameter in most places, then get to crawl through the caves - it was really neat! Went back for caroling in the caverns. There were four choirs singing in four different areas of the cave. The acoustics were amazing. The mile walk isn't for the faint of heart, a lot of ups and downs. But it is a beautiful cave system. This time the cave wasn't flooded so we saw more of the rooms. Also they have a hayride and a fire so you can roast marshmallows for s'mores. Don't miss the coordinated lights to music that goes on every so often. Water is the only beverage allowed in the cave. I brought my own and they filled it for free at the concession stand. Great Christmas attraction. read more

So we went to Natural Bridge Caverns today.... NEVER EVER AGAIN !!!!!! The website says that you can take strollers...you can not. The website and the lady at the ticket booth said that it is a family friendly tour...IT IS NOT!!! The caves have a ton of wet, steep inclines and a TON of uphill steps... and it's hot with about 100% humidity. This tour is NOT appropriate for families with toddlers or young children. The cave floor is wet and extremely slippery and it's very possible that someone could fall, especially a young child. I had my almost 2 year old with me and I had to carry him most of the way...mind you, that's me carrying him up steep, wet inclines and up steep wet stairs with a lot of low laying rock...extremely dangerous. Thank God my sister was with me because I would not have been able to carry him the entire time and there is no way to exit the cave other than to continue forward. If the website had made this clear, and especially the lady at the ticket booth who said that this was a family friendly tour, we would have just done the wildlife tour instead. Our tour guide was great and very pleasant and informative, and did her best but, it wasn't her fault that the company was giving out false descriptions of the tour. Now without young children, and if you have appropriate footwear (thank God we all did), then you would likely have a better experience. I'll give it one star only because the caves were really beautiful and our tour guide was good, but we really couldn't enjoy it due to the exhaustion. If you have young children, especially toddlers, DO NOT TAKE THIS TOUR. Elderly visitors and pregnant women may not want to do this tour either as it is incredibly easy to fall and there are a lot of wet steps and steep, wet inclines. read more

Went with a group of four and we all had a great experience. The only thing that is a bit tricky is if you book after the 2pm, you need to arrive two hours prior to what your ticket shows and then you may have to come back to get on a tour. Luckily, it wasn't too busy when we went so we were able to get on the next tour they had. The tour guides were very personable and knowledgable. We did both the Hidden Passage and Discovery tour and both were a little over an hour long. It does get pretty humid down in the caverns so I suggest if you have a sweatshirt, put something light weight on underneath it. Parking wasn't an issue. They have a huge lot and all parking is close to the entrance. They also have a concession stand so if you're between tours, you can grab a little something to eat. We had chicken tenders, which were better than I expected, popcorn, and a slushy. I recommend taking a day to enjoy the Caverns. They are beautiful and the story behind them is fascinating. Great to take people that are visiting from outside San Antonio. read more

Natural bridge caverns is a definite must visit if you have the time and means to travel there while in San Antonio. This place surprised me in how much I enjoyed my visit in the caverns. They have different tours available but the discovery tour is the original and the one I would recommend checking out. The tour does a great job explaining the origins of the cave, from inception to how each area and natural phenomenon was named. The tour guide they had did an excellent job leading our group and basically giving a whole history and science lesson on how and why the area was formed. It's very accessible and really enhances the experience. One tip I should mention is that the caves are insanely warm and humid so dress appropriately. Definitely ignore whatever the outside temperature is as it's completely irrelevant to what you will experience in the caves. It was cold and windy when I went but still so warm and humid in the cave that I was completely overdressed for the tour! Also it's a perfect attraction for a rainy day if you happen to get unlucky with the weather. Also try and buy your ticket online in advance to save money! Overall I would say this is was one of my favorite things I did in San Antonio, perhaps the best attraction in the area even despite how touristy it may appear. read more

Natural Bridge Caverns is a neat place to visit if you're in San Antonio. The caves are so beautiful and definitely not an every day sight! That said, this is a very commercialized spot. Not only are there caves, but there's a whole ropes course and food court. It just feels like a theme park, which for me, took away from the natural beauty. What was also annoying to me was that we had to go through the caverns on a tour. The tour was huge, you could barely hear the tour guide, and it felt like it took forever due to the abundance of people taking pictures. From a liability standpoint, having the tour guide made the journey no safer than touring on my own pace. The tour was so big that there was no way the guide was keeping track of everyone. All in all, I wouldn't say "don't go to the caverns." That said, just he prepared to be nickeled and dimed for anything and everything. read more
