My sister and I took my parents there while in town for their 50th anniversary. The waiter was nice. Now on to the food. I'd rather ate a cheesy Italian shell hamburger helper. The service was excellent. The food would have been good if it wasn't so salty. I wanted to send it back after the first bite but my husband felt bad. We ate it with sips of water in between. Small place that is cozy, comfortable, and fantastic. Options for entrees and or tapas, we opted for the mix. Started with a tapenade with was a perfect start, delicious with flavorful bread. The tapas dishes continued with a wonderful tuna tar tar, lamb meat balls that had just the right amount of spice, and green beans that were cooked to perfection. The entree was a whitefish that had an amazing sear and was done masterfully. Cannot possibly recommend this place enough, and the price point is totally reasonable given the quality of the food provided. read more

Well worth leaving MC. Great local hang out. Get away from the tourist places and enjoy conversation and atmosphere. The owners were here and they're very nice. Exceptional food and great service. The Tapas offering is a no-brainer, you could order anything on the menu and its tasty. The lobster mac and cheese could be an entree for one person. It worked well with our other choices; we ordered 3 for two people and dessert. The creme brûlée was very good. The mixed drinks were made well- I drink Titos and tonic and hate a light/heavy pour. My husband and I visited Nauti Inn Barstro on Friday, 8/25/17, mid-afternoon for a late lunch. Only open for two weeks, it's as if this quaint spot had been in business for quite some time. We were instantly impressed by the understated but classy nautical decor and friendly atmosphere. Everything was to a "T." It's such an impressive little restaurant, it almost seems out-of-place in sleepy Cheboygan, yet also seems like it totally belongs! Even a bigger surprise was the delectable food at reasonable prices and personable waitstaff. My husband kept raving and raving. We soon learned that the sous chef and chef were brought in from high-end places in Chicago and Arizona. As for the owner, this is her first eatery ever, but you wouldn't know it. We had a wonderful meal of tapas this summer and looked forward to returning with friends. We thought it prudent to make reservations and so called in the morning and left a message that was not returned. Neither was the one I left at 2:45. I did reach the manager at 4 and it was clear she had not gotten my message. We did make reservations and our table was set and waiting for us when we arrived. Our server, who was personable and attentive throughout, told us as we received our menus that they were not doing tapas as it was now the winter menu, and they were focusing on comfort food. Three of the four of us ordered a "beginning." They were tasty, but small. Our entrees were also very tasty, but the portions were small. There were no side dishes: no salad, no vegetable, no rolls, not even available as an ala carte item. We shared with our server that in fact, while the food was very tasty (though salty) we were still hungry despite ordering an entree and appetizer! He was very polite, he said he'd be happy to pass along our feedback, and that Chef did things differently than "other restaurants in town." Emily, the manager, also stopped by and reiterated that Chef was doing things in a way different from others. We asked if Chef would stop at the table, but Emily quickly said he didn't do that. Emily then told us she hoped we "found a restaurant in town that more fully met our needs." So we took Emily's advice, and leaving Nauti Inn still hungry, we made our way down the street and around the corner to the new wine pub in town. There, we were greeted warmly, served lovely, filling, fresh food, chatted with the chef and had a wonderful time. So, if you want tasty food, and aren't particularly hungry, and you don't mind being condescended to a tad, go to Nauti Inn. Or wait til summer and hope they bring back the tapas menu. The Nauti would stand out even in a big city; just amazing to find it in Cheboygan. I love the tapas menu, it's great for a group to try a bunch of different things and everything we ordered was excellent. We had lettuce wraps, stuffed peppers, and linguini. Be sure to order cocktails, they're well designed and mixed. They have outdoor seating right next to the kitchen garden, we actually saw someone come out to snip the herbs for one of our drinks. We had a great experience here. It's casual but upscale at the same time. Food and drink selection was good. We sat outside on a nice night which added to our experience. Helpful and friendly wait staff, jazz music, and great food including several vegetarian options. Every dish was cooked and seasoned very nicely. We asked a question about the wine and the owner came outside and sat down with us and explained all about the winery and why it's called 13degrees Celsius. What a wonderful place. We went during the middle of the day, sat at the bar and ordered 3 dishes. We ordered the Green Beans, White fish stuffed Piquilla Peppers, plus 1 more. Everything was fantastic, very flavorful. We decided to go back 2 days later and ordered the Fruit & Brie Flatbread, Carrots, Shrimp and Ahi Tuna. Again, without fail, it was fantastic. Everything cooked to perfection with loads of flavor. We each had drinks both days, some of them the bartenders creations. Creativity and flavor flow through both the bar and kitchen. I had an exceptional meal at Nauti Inn. Every single dish we ordered was delicious and memorable. The ahi tuna tartare spoons had awesome fresh flavor. The green beans had a touch of sweetness. Disappointed in both the food and the service last night. Waited forever for our food and while there was an extensive wine list, few could be had by the glass (those of us who prefer something not so dry were just out of luck). Several of us chose to have duo appetizers as our meal (ala small plates), and they did not quite measure up to the promise of their menu descriptions and were all way too salty. Maybe they were just having an off night, but should I find myself in Cheboygan again, I would go elsewhere. read more
