We finally had a chance to try Nawa after getting a gift card for Christmas. We had a bit of a hard time getting to it at first because of all the construction on the Landing. In hindsight, it might have been nice to get a courtesy warning from the hostess when we made reservations. Not that it in any way ruined our experience. If anyone is curious, you have to get to it from the Harrison street side - there's a little opening to the sidewalk directly across from C-Street. Reservations on a Saturday night are a good idea. It was quiet when we first got there but filled up fast. I was a little disappointed to be seated at a tiny 2-top right next to the hostess station, especially since the couple before us, who didn't have a reservation, got a booth towards the back. Next time we'll ask for a table a little more out of the main path. Service was excellent - everyone was very solicitous and checked in often without being overbearing. We ordered the tempura sampler - it came with shrimp, onion rings, broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potato and pumpkin. All of the veggies were cooked to perfection, cooked through but with some bite, still. The pumpkin was an unexpected but super surprise. For an entree I got the Veg Out (medium spice) and it was a good size serving and extremely well prepared. The veggies, again, were perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of heat. It came with jasmine rice which was delicious and I also got a side of roti bread that was freshly made and steaming hot. It was definitely worth the add on. My husband got the pineapple fried rice. It came with giant chunks of shredded chicken breast, rice, veggies and pineapple served inside a pineapple half. He said it was the best fried rice he'd ever had. The wait staff is knowledgeable and engaging. The menu offers a range of heat to suit the palate and spice tolerance. I had a gin & tonic, while husband had a plum wine. For desert he had cheesecake and I had the fresh mango on sticky rice. Both were beautifully decadent and delicious. We had a window seat and the owner stopped by to chat about the Columbia St construction projects, her great dog, Rocky who holds court under the awning outside and her family in Thailand. Her story is the American Dream. Located downtown and walking distance to the new Riverfront Project as well as the baseball stadium. It's an ideal spot. We had dinner and drinks tonight at Nawa for the first time. The street and landing are under construction but the restaurant was easy to access via the northwest side of the street sidewalk. We split the woots wing appetizer and enjoyed it but felt for the price it was small or the price should have been lower. We each enjoyed a glass of wine and they were very good. He had a seafood curry and I had the pad Thai me up to judge based on other Thai. He thought it was very good but over priced. I enjoyed the pad Thai and loved the presentation. It did not stand out over pad Thai dishes I have had, next time I will choose a more exotic dish. The interior of the building is beautiful. read more

Fort Wayne has exceeded expectations with this gem of an Asian Fusion restaurant in Downtown. This is one of the first trendy spots near river walk. The area is being remodeled with these beautiful brick buildings that date back to the early 1900s. Some buildings are late 1800s. Nawa's interior design is just beautiful with the dark wood flooring, against the red brick walls the lighting enhances the ambiance as does the gold leaf wall art. The music was soothing and low key. Nawa has a drink menu to die for. Such original concoctions of various libations. There were even hard liquor hot drinks. We had lettuce wraps with a plum dipping sauce. Very generous portion. Our entrees were Boxing chicken (1/2 lightly fried chicken with a delicious tamarind sauce, sticky rice that came in its own bamboo pouch, and a green papaya salad. The second entree was beef Phad Thai. The beef was fork tender marinated in a wonderful sauce with noodles that were silky dressed in a subtle peanut sauce We will be back again. Each time that I've come to Ft. Wayne, I've gone to Nawa for lunch. This time, I actually tried something other than my usual pad thai. The rama curry that I ordered was not what I expected, however it was still delicious. If you like your curry to be a little sweet, try this one out. Just took my niece to lunch today. Or tried to that is. Got seated immediately and then it all went down hill. Well we did not even get to eat together. Ordered and had appetizers. Waited forever for our meals to arrive. Even paid in advance since I told the waitress we were on lunch hour and needed to be back to work by 12:30. Eventually had to find the waitress and get the food to go. Was even asked by who may have been the manager how we enjoyed our food. I told her we had not even had it yet.
