Some of the negative reviews are surprising given the excellent service and wide variety of services over the ten years which my family and I have been going there. It seems some of the negative reviewers do need to do some comparison shopping then, before committing to having auto repairs done. I had emissions work done a while back and had an issue, the part supplier was crying "out of warrantee" and not willing to initially take responsibility, but NE Autotek went to bat for me and not only got them to replace the part for free, but because of all the delays involved, NE Autotek did NOT charge me for their labor, essentially redoing the initial job! I do stand by their work and customer service. read more

Addendum, I spoke with the garage across the street that has a Birdseye view on northeast auto Tech and they said my car never moved until right before I got there and Brandon insisted that they touched my car where I spoke with Patrick at Japanese auto repair and he said it never moved the whole time he saw it just by glancing out the window from time to time so what does that say about Brandon in Northeast auto Tech ....liars...Stay away from these people read more

Good and mechanic don't often go together in the same sentence but I feel they do here. We took one of our vehicles there to have a repair done that was beyond my abilities. It's been a while since I have had to take a vehicle to a garage so I was a little surprised by the labor rate of $100 per hour. I suppose I could have driven around and found a cheaper rate per hour but why? I doubt I would have found $50 an hour cheaper so why mess around for $10 or so. Besides, they are local and I like to support local businesses The customer area and shop were clean. The mechanic I saw was ASE certified and the staff was helpful. They quoted me the cost before any work was started and even offered a suggestion on how to save a few dollars. Overall, I am satisfied with my experience. I would go back and I would recommend to friends and neighbors. read more

We run a small delivery business and our vans are high mileage vehicles. So anytime something goes wrong, I need them fixed quickly. I can't afford to be down long and I don't have extra money to waste on these unexpected repairs. We have used various mechanics over the last 15 years, so we know what we spend from year to year on repairs. We were referred to N E Autotek by a friend a few years back. Best thing that ever happened! They have done everything from electrical to transmissions to rear ends to suspensions, to name just a few of our repairs. They always guarantee their work. I s it the cheapest place? NO, that would be a DIY job. But they are by no measure the highest. We have compared to many area major franchises and dealerships to local mechanics out of their back yard garage. These guys are professionals running a quality shop. I have been coming here for 8 years. They WERE the place to go for honest, excellent work. They have had some personnel changes and the results are disappointing. My synthetic oil change cost me $106. That's a shameful price for an oil change. The place reeked of cigarette smoke when I got there and after I complained, when I came back, it reeked of nasty men's cologne. I went a couple of thousand miles outside of their recommended 3,000 miles (Manufacturer suggests 6000 miles) and the "manager" said my car had black sludge and the engine needed to be completely flushed out. I call BS on this one! I used to work on cars and this ploy is old as the hills. I had been so honestly taken care of by the previous crew that this change is a huge disappointment. I can categorize them now as all the other up-sell repair shops. I told them I will not be back. read more

As a woman is super hard for me to feel secure with car shops. Jacob was referred to me by a friend and he was very thorough. He explained to me everything in detail, showed me the parts that needed to be exchanged, gave me a quote and helped me to decide between brands. My car is running like new again and I can actually talk intelligently about what was done and why. The work was done in the time frame promised and price was fair. Sad to say have to agree with Esko and Irene. This used to be a trustworthy shop. I have taken my cars there for many years and Jacob and Rob were great. I do not think they are there any longer. My daughters car would not start (electrical was clearly working as windows, fan etc would work) and there was a check engine light on just no cranks when you turn over the key - even a jump did not help. After a 130 dollar "diagnostic" they told me They did not know what was exactly wrong with the car and that they thought I needed a new battery (old), battery cables (corroded) and more and over $700 dollars later told me the car was running. 24 hours later the car would not start same symptoms as before. I bought a new starter and replaced myself and now the car is fine. Shame (or should I say surprising) that they did not notice when they were replacing cables - one which connected to the starter - that the starter was not just really grimy, showing rust on the exterior, and it was an original 2001 Honda part - that maybe the starter was the "problem" as they could have gotten more money out of me if they correctly diagnosed (or added that to) the problem." BTW the labor for the battery change was $100, yes $100. As I recall they charge $100 per hour for labor for a task even I can do in about 15 minutes. Everyone is hurting for business under Covid but they just lost a long time loyal customer. read more

I went to NE Autotek to get my oil changed..big mistake. Not only was I charged for a synthetic oil change instead of a regular one I got the distinct impression that James, the manager, was doing this on purpose and had done it before. To make matters worse, the next auto shop I went to told me that the oil pan screw had been stripped and I needed to buy a new oil pan...this was also courtesty of NE Autotek. Do not take your car here...they are shady and will try and manipulate you. read more

These people are completely incompetent and don't communicate pricing on anything. I dropped my car off because I had a warning light and asked them to just see if they could tell me generally what was wrong. I was never told that would be a specific price and never called to be told that some in depth diagnostic test would be needed. I come to pick up my car and they decided that I owed them $140 for a test I never approved. They also couldn't fix the issue with my car after telling me what was wrong with a test I didn't approve. This place put an alternator and a battery on my car when it did not need one. it turned out to be an electrical problem. Yes they are nice, but because I am a female they took advantage of me. Charged me double the price for a battery and the battery was a piece of junk - Very crooked they will put parts on your can that the car does not need. read more

Fuel pump cost $485 at NE Autotek? I got it brand new across the street on Autozone for $234! Read this experience that happened to me: Please, don't take your car to this auto repair shop ever.! I took my Ford Explorer 2001 because I couldn't start it. They said that I had to pay $99 fee for diagnosis witch is find, fee that supposed to be avoided when the work is done. But they didn't! They diagnosis test said that fuel pump wasn't working and they try to do other jobs related to it, but I only accepted to replace the fuel pump and fuel filter. After a big discussion ( I was amazed how he couldn't manage his anger), with a man that said he was the owner, he charged me $70 for diagnosis fee because I hadn't accepted to let them do the hold suggested repair. They argument that was a corporative policy. I asked to him to show me where was written on, he said: ' is not written, just I"m saying. This is my policy!' Finally I paid almost $350 to get the fuel pump and fuel filter replaced and the hard time to confront a person like him. Definitely is not a 'friendly auto repair shop'. We've been taking all of our family cars to these guys since 2004, when they were located in Duluth. I could not be happier with the quality of the service we have received. They have handled everything from routine maintenance on all of our cars to a complicated electrical issue we were having with one of the cars that the dealer could not even diagnose. All of the repairs we have had them do took care of the issues the vehicles were having and were reasonably priced. They give a good warranty on their work and do not give any hassle taking care of problems covered by the warranty. They have also kept us well informed about upcoming maintenance and any issues that may cause future problems. Our vehicles have been kept in great shape thanks to the guys at NE Autotek. I have been using NE Autotek for several years. My dad was in the car business for 35 years and he "vetted" them for me. To quote him, good and honest mechanics are hard to find. I like the fact that being a woman, I trust them. I don't know anything about cars other than where to put the gas. Before they do any work, I get a phone call and am made aware of what is wrong and the cost. They also will let me know what is a priority and what can wait. They have even replaced tires for me. An on occasions, I stop by and get air in my tires. I am completely grateful for there service. I have a fleet of cars since I have young adults with cars as well. I have referred friends. If you want honest and reliable service, they get my approval every time. I like to support small and local businesses. I do not find their rates are high. They are reasonable. The rates at a "big box auto stores" are much more expensive and you don't get specialized service. When I walk in the door, they know my name and laugh. What another car needs repair.
