YUM. This place is fun AND has good food! We got lucky and unknowingly came when they had live…read moremusic and it was great! My husband and I came here on the first night we moved to SC from out of state. I ordered the smoked wings w/signature dry rub and a side salad. My husband got the Philly cheesesteak and was very excited about the house-made cheese-whiz. The wings were excellent!! That dry rub is a chef's kiss. And that delicious side salad was a HUGE portion size! We already can't wait to come back here again! :)

I've always enjoyed Montreux in Summerville and used to consider their shrimp and grits some of the…read morebest around. Unfortunately, something has clearly changed with that dish. The shrimp had a very strong, fishy smell that was honestly off-putting, and the flavor matched. It almost seemed like the addition of wine was an attempt to mask the issue rather than enhance the dish. The grits were also disappointing--lumpy and lacking the smooth, creamy texture you'd expect. That said, not everything missed the mark. My coworkers ordered the chicken salad, chicken wrap with sweet potato fries , blackened chicken pasta, and bruschetta, and all of those dishes were absolutely delicious and well prepared. They definitely helped redeem the overall experience and show the kitchen is still capable of putting out great food. Adri was our server, and she was an absolute delight--a total gem. She never missed a beat and was completely on top of everything. I also appreciated the convenience of the location. I parked across the street in the garage, which was well lit, safe, and very close. There's plenty to see and do in the surrounding area, which adds to the appeal. I'm hoping this was just an off day, because Montreux has been a favorite in the past. I'd love to see the shrimp and grits return to the quality they were once known for. There are games and slot machines, with multiple televisions to watch...what do you know...sports. Aside from that, there doesn't seem to be too much appeal in terms of ambiance. My husband very much liked his wings. He literally said they were some of the best wings he's had in a long time. Just by looking at them they were cooked very well, crispy on the outside and flavorful but glistening with moisture on the inside. Nothing on the menu appealed to me personally, so I stuck with my drink. Our bartender was so sweet though. I wish I knew her name. She provided us with plenty of recommendations for things to do in the area and checked on us multiple times. Just overall good demeanor I'd come back here for a beer and a game.

The bartender barely spoke to me or looked my way. To receive any service or get her attention I had to shout out to her because she continually walked past me without even checking in. I had to shout out to get a fork, napkins, and even to get the menu. HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! I left a tip out of courtesy. It gets two stars because the place is clean with plenty TVs around the bar. You'll need to step it up if you're going to compete with the other restaurants here in Nexton.

The hardware store even has a post office inside, so it's truly a one-stop-shop here. The outdoor area is gorgeous and filled with plants- and the plants are also for sale. I'm sure some customers spend a good bit on making their yards beautiful after a few beers. There's ample seating, with tons of chairs, small tables for groups of 2-3, and picnic tables. A food truck was there serving smash burgers, and I believe they have a rotation of food trucks since they don't serve food. Bolts and Brews is limited to beer and wine (no liquor), but you'll find plenty to drink. Draft beers are limited but marked on the menu. Many of the beers are canned, and you'll find local favorite breweries (Edmunds Oast, Snafu, Holy City) as well as a lot of beers from breweries in other states. This is the beauty of being mostly a canned beer spot. They also do flights of mimosas and at the time, offered a full six flavors of mimosa. I had a mimosa with a mixture of peach and mango juice, which the friendly beer-tender recommended. It was a good pour for only $6 and hit the spot after a VERY hot 5K in one of the neighborhoods nearby. You can grab a beer here after buying plants or shopping in the hardware store- and folks do- but Bolts and Brews is also a destination with comedy nights, bingo (the prizes are plants), sip and paint night, and live music on Fridays. The folks who manage this spot have really transformed it from a hardware store to a place where the community can gather. If Fleet Feet hadn't co-hosted the fun run/walk 5K with them, I wouldn't have known about Bolts and Brews, but I'm glad I do. If I lived closer, I'd be a regular here.
