I only come here because it's one of the few places that actually have semi clean food for someone who's highly sensitive to dairy and other common allergens - so I am thankful for that!! However every time I come here something goes wrong. The main thing is the service. It's absolutely horrid. The staff act as if you are burdening them by simply trying to place an order or ask simple questions about the menu offerings. Also the drinks are always gross I stopped ordering them because the inconsistencies are ridiculous. I actually watched a group of girls ask for their smoothies to be remade for a reason I could not hear. However the girl at the front asks the girl on bar to remake them and instead of making it right without hesitation. The girl on bar was asking her "why" and stated that she would only fix the drinks they already ordered (3 smoothies) I proceeded to watch the girl on bar dump the smoothies (MIND YOU THEY WERE ALREADY DRANK FROM) back into the blender. Personally, I have worked in food service for far too long to not notice simple things like this. Talk about cross contamination and overall POOR health safety practices!!! I also came here once and found hair In my meal, i kindly pointed it out to the girl working and instead of immediately apologizing she just took the plate to the back and came back out to tell me that they'll remake it. Another time I ordered a smoothie online and forgot to pick it up so I came back the next day and stated the situation.. the barista pulled the smoothie out from the fridge and said oh we still have it do you want it? GROSS!!!!! And before the owner comes on here to message me directly and say "why not bring it up to management directly before posting because we're a small biz" save it. Ive seen how she responds to feedback in a defensive condescending manner and therefore have nothing to say to you besides get it tf together. I've witnessed poor behavior from staff here for far too long. NO ONE CARES and this is only a reflection of the owner/management. This morning at Nectarine Grove was wild y'all! I'll elaborate in a minute, so keep reading because you won't believe what one of the employees did.. But first let me just say I'm giving five stars only because I love this place and the food is just so good and I haven't had anything that I didn't like yet. Okay but I really need to tell you guys what I saw this morning and I REALLY HOPE THIS REVIEW REACHES MANAGEMENT/THE OWNERS... This morning, as my friend and I were waiting for our breakfast, we watched the employee at the counter opening new ketchup bottles to be put out... WITH HER TEETH. Let me explain further, you know how brand new ketchups often have that pesky inner seal that is super difficult to remove? Well, we sat there and watched her open every single bottle with her teeth, one after the other, in full view of all the customers, right at the front counter. I'm honestly floored. I currently work in the restaurant industry and if I saw that happening in our restaurant, we would need some serious re-training. I'm not going to stop eating there, because I have a pretty strong immune system and I'm not really squeamish... but honestly I don't think that was okay and I hope that Nectarine Grove addresses this issue and gives the staff some direction on how to properly handle food etc in a restaurant. Where to begin? I wanted to cry at how happy I was that my husband found this place. We went two times in 48hrs. The staff was amazing, service was quick and efficient. The food is so delicious. We had a nice time with our friends who eat gluten free. If you have dietary issues, this is a delicious spot to stop in. It does get crowded though - so come on the earlier side to nab a seat indoors or outdoors! I ordered the chicken fajitas taco plate and my husband ordered the chicken Sammy 101. Been here several times now and it never disappoints! Food is fresh and allergy friendly. After my daughter was diagnosed with dairy and egg allergies I've become a lot more cognizant of places that are allergen friendly. Nectarine grove being one of the best! There's something on the menu for everyone. The veggie pesto scramble is a great choice for breakfast. Generous portion, flavorful, and nutritious. I've actually shared this with my husband with a latte and left satisfied! My biggest gripe is the parking and seating situation. Of the times I've been we have been able to find seating... but it has been a bit stressful. It's an order at the counter, find your own seat kind of joint. So nobody is helping you secure a table to enjoy your food at. There are a lot of seats outside but this place is popular -- they're usually full! The parking is also tough. There aren't a lot of spots on their side of the highway, so we usually park across the street in the dirt by the train tracks. It's not a bad walk, but when you've got kids and a stroller it can feel both dangerous and annoying. read more

However I am truly disappointed in the decline of food and service here lately... today I was stunned to receive a re-heated (partially cold) hamburger, that tasted AWFUL, and accompanied by very soggy and limp lukewarm French fries. I have mixed feelings about Nectarine Grove. I love their name and their health conscious menu and values, but I dislike their inconsistency. I feel that I've gone here enough times over the years to learn that they don't always execute their food optimally. When it's good, it's really good, but when it's bad, it just leaves me feeling underwhelmed and disappointed because I know they can do better! The four star rating is based on being good for the MOST parts and because my last meal here was great! We ordered the Buffalo pizza, which is a great pizza if you want to try a paleo dish that does not leave you feeling guilty or like you want to go to bed. I ended up sharing this w a friend, who believed the dish was too salty (but I guess I like my food a little bit more savory.) My sis consistently gets the falafel tacos, which she seemed to enjoy. We enjoyed the roasted veggie bowl with steak- absolutely delicious particularly with the two sauces added. I can't begin to express how much I appreciate a place that has so many gluten free/dairy free options that are so incredibly delicious. I have been to both the Del Mar location (breakfast/lunch/pastry only) and the Encinitas location- full menu and coffee bar. And I love them both for what they are and what they offer with their slightly different menus. The breakfast tacos are my absolute favorite to get when I am at the Del Mar location. However my husbands gluten free croissant sandwich had me wondering if I need to change up my usual order. I recently went to the Encinitas location and ordered the plantain crusted chicken salad and could have eaten two of them they are so good. I ended the evening with a cashew milk latte and I can't wait to go back and get it again. This post could go on and on and on for my love for this restaurant. Be sure to check them out!
