I had Ned's on my list for a long time and well worth the try. Very good thin crust and toppings were evenly portioned and flavorful. However thought they were a bit heavy on the sauce. Overall would recommend and will consider next trip to the Milwaukee area. read more

Still my favorite pizza in the Milwaukee area. They were super busy on a Saturday night but we only had to wait about 5 minutes for a table. We weren't in the mood for the usual appetizers so we demolished an excellent 14" pizza with sausage and pepperoni and onions on half. We always skip the mushrooms because they only have canned. We were in the Southgate area when we decided to grab some lunch. After consulting Yelp, we decided some pizza at Ned's sounded like just the thing. It was Memorial Day, so we phoned first to see if they were open on the holiday. Fortunately for us, they were. As we drove up, we noticed on their sign that they've been in business in Milwaukee since 1969. Nearly 50 years? Amazing! It's a seat yourself sorta place. The dining room when we arrived (late Monday afternoon) was nearly empty (but began to fill up almost immediately after we found our seat). They offer a limited beer and wine menu (in addition to sodas etc). My dining companion was delighted to see that Lakefront Brewing's Eastside Dark was on the menu, while I opted for Sprecher's Root Beer (classic, old school deliciousness). We both ordered their garden salad to start, which is a bed of lettuce with radish slices, carrot shavings, tomatoes, croutons, and your choice of dressing (me: bleu cheese). It was ample, fresh, and fabulous. We then ordered their sausage pizza. They have a pizza special on Monday (14 inch cheese or sausage pizza at a discount). The pizza comes on a nearly paper thin and cracker crisp crust. So, if you like it thin and crispy? This, my friends, is your jam. The service was attentive, prompt, and friendly. The ambiance is basic and maybe a bit dated, but clean. All in all? A good choice for lunch, dinner, or takeout! Get to it! read more

So this place is getting better. I have not given up. Last time I went was to get their 2024 coupon book. The sauce is back to the neds quality you can expect. The sausage is normal as well. The issue starts at the pepperoni. It tastes like hormel pepperoni in the bag you can get from any grocery store, not the fresh thick cut pepperoni that cups when baked. Overall it's getting better and I hope that soon dine in eating can return. Yes covid is over and they still have no opened dine in eating. I have been a customer of Ned's for over 5 decades...It was recently sold to someone, and it isn't the same. Used to go to Ned's Pizza Cellar on Villard when I was young, and it was superb...Currently only on South 27th Street, so it better be great to travel that far. Now I am old and experienced, and no longer consider Ned's the best pizza in town. The crust was not good, probably prepackaged and then used in their pizza...maybe even frozen before...the toppings, cheese, tomato sauce, and extras still good. But rating now lower due to the lousy crust. And since the new owner took over, prices up nearly 50%....I know this is true, cuz I have the cooking instrux on the carry out from before and from currently...what was a $13.50 pizza a year or so ago is now $19.50 (14 inch). And they only now have carryout...would much prefer to sit down to a freshly cooked pizza and pay a nice waitress 20%. Pizza used to be an event...now it is just food, and not as good as before. Cost cutting on ingredients (namely the crust) will cost them customers. Good luck to the new owner who thinks we don't care about quality. read more

I lived my whole life in Milwaukee but have only recently become a Ned's fanatic. This small, (kind of) in need of a dining room overhaul, pizza place has possibly the best pizza in Milwaukee. The sauce is a bit sweet, thin crust is great, and toppings are good (with free onions and green pepper). I love that Sir Paul McCartney ordered from Ned's when he played Miller Park in 2013. That's some serious Ned's cred! I really don't mind Ned's dining room at all- service is really friendly and cheerful- it's just the only thing about Ned's I think needs updating. They should have given us a more realistic wait time. We expected to have to wait up to 2 hours for a pizza. That was okay. But they told us 45 minutes and it was closer to 90. Maybe i tried it on a off day but I thought pizza was kinda flavorless. It looked really good and the crust was paper thin, I got exited but then after first few bites it was just ok I had way better. It was kinda expensive for a small cheese and sausage pizza but maybe inflation. I also got a Fountain drink which was mostly ice. Ned's is one of the best examples of quintessential Milwaukee Pizza; cracker-thin crust, ample toppings and above all a fantastic pie. Although certainly not an establishment to use artisan ingredients or truffle oil on a pizza it's exactly this fact that makes Ned's pizza such an excellent product. The no frills exterior gives way to an equally nondescript counter behind which one can find a small army cranking out some of the best pizza Milwaukee's south side has to offer. This evening I chose to pick up a cheese, sausage, mushroom and onion pie (considered 'the special' at most south side joints). Adding extra cheese and extra mushrooms it was a substantial pie for a reasonable price. Unwrapping it from its tin foil sarcophagus I was instantly overwhelmed by the smell of comfort; fennel rich sausage, canned mushrooms and ample portions of the standard mozz blend. Is Ned's the epitome of culinary pizza? No. Don't let that dissuade you as it certainly offers one of the best examples of traditional Milwaukee south side pizza and for over 40 years at that. read more

Stopped at Ned's because I really liked the option of the walk up window. I have ordered in the past but always turned off by the canned mushrooms. I decided I would just have to pass on the mushrooms. I ordered a PLT (Pepperoni,lettuce,and tomato)but was given a Triple P (Pepperoni,pepperoncini,pickles) I wasn't too disappointed as I have had the Triple P in the past. It's a different flavor in a good way with the tanginess of the pickles and mild spice of the peppers. Also ordered Pep/sausage and 1/2 cheese. This was great as the simple ingredients allowed the sweet sauce flavor to come through. Sauce is a little on the thick side but goes well with the thin crust. Pepperoni was piled on nice, sausage was a little scarce. They also wrap the pizza in foil to keep it warm. This easily could be a 4 or 5 star. Because of the order error and the use of the canned mushrooms they received lower rating. I will be back and hope to update the rating soon. read more

Excellent thin crispy crust, sauce was more sweet than spicy, sausage was excellent, and the mushrooms were canned but still ok. Sweeter sauce and the whole thing could have used another minute in the oven as the crust in the middle wasn't as crisp. (I ended up putting some slices into the oven for a few minutes at 350-But that could also just be my preference.) Overall I feel a 4 out of 5 is appropriate. read more
