I was driving back to Lancaster and stumbled on this hidden wonder in California. I stepped into a hidden gem today i was greeted by the friendliest staff. I shopped around and found some rare food items you can't find in town. The restaurant part of the store is 10/10 the asada tacos I had were 10/10 and the restaurant part of the menu is also 10/10. My family was stuck on the I-5 this past Saturday when the roads were suddenly closed. We had nowhere to go and we were lucky to find this oasis from the madness. Richard was so welcoming and the kept the market open well beyond the usual open hours to accommodate everyone who was stranded. Neenach market is an awesome Restaurant/Gas station/Store. The store has pretty much everything you need and their food is really good. What stood up the most though was the welcoming and friendliness from Richard and Roberta (Owners) and Jerry (Chef). We were greeted as if we were long time friends. What was supposed to be a spontaneous stop became an unforgettable experience. I would give them 6 if I could. Big thank you. Definitely a MUST if you are traveling thru the Hwy 138. read more

I can't say I was expecting to find Filipino food or a great selection of drinks on the way back from the Antelope Valley Poppy Reserve. Great lumpia, albeit on the small side for an order. The American food is still there, now with some items like a "Filipino breakfast" and adobo burrito. What is this singular breakfast? I'll have to return to find out. A wide variety of interesting juices, sodas and kombuchas for a random little stop. The homemade brownies are good if they have them. A few lovely tables outside with shade. It wasn't the fastest when we dropped by during off hours, but where are you rushing to? read more

Unexpectedly stopped at this market/cafe due to a flat tire while driving 3hrs home after a softball tournament in Palmdale. While waiting for AAA, my daughter and I were greeted by the nicest couple sitting on the patio of the market. Both the older gentleman and younger gal who worked/owned the place immediately offered to help us and put my spare tire on to eliminate our wait of a repair truck. Of course I declined their offer but instead ordered a bacon cheese burger with fries that they whipped up quickly while we waited. Not only was the burger fantastic, the company of the these two made us feel at ease and welcome. They showed concern and compassion for a couple girls driving thru their town. Not a bad stop. Decent selection, clean restrooms. It's hot inside. They need to crank up the air conditioning. And if you're stopping for a restroom break, be sure to make a purchase: they will confront you about it. I was traveling with a small group when we stopped for restrooms and snacks. We intended to make purchases after using the restroom, but the lady running the cash register made a point to approach us when she saw the line form to tell us the restroom was for customers only. Then the guy at the register (her husband?) stared at us the rest of the time. I get it: small-town shop, needs its money, but it's not exactly your "friendly hometown market." Next time, I'll probably just bypass this store and wait for the stops along the 5. Restroom for customers only? Well, ya just lost a customer. read more

Neeach is a town of less than 900 people... and there is pretty much nothing here except gorgeous mountain views and this little market/town center. And it's everything. And it needs to be. There are gas pumps - I hear they're getting turned on again very soon! Which is excellent since the nearest gas station is something like 9 miles away. The people that work here are SO kind. And there are so many hidden gems inside this little pocket of town... They have a full menu of food and it's all pretty good! The burritos are especially good. Walk a little to the left of the market room and find... A BAR! With amazingly cheap beer and a poker table. Bliss. This is also a designated cooling station for folks in town... and the owner of the market complex opens the place for the town council meetings and hosted a Thanksgiving dinner for the community. Neenach isn't much to see... but if you're there - this is the heart of this community. And this little plaza is full of heart and good will. Stop in for a coffee or a beer and a chat. Truly the sort of "town gathering center" that all cities want, but none really have. read more

Not really in the middle of nowhere, but it sure comes close. The Filipina woman at the store gave 100% tita vibes and before we knew it, we were ordering longanisa, tocino, tapa, adobo, and lumpia. Oh, and yes a cheeseburger too just to give everything a fair try. Had to pair the Filipino items with the spicy vinegar dipping sauce because to do so with anything else is a crime . Passing thru on a fun exploring type of day. When we walked in, we did not intend on ordering from the grill but the street tacos were calling my name. In the end, we ordered asada tacos and an asada burrito and I had one of the best experiences waiting for food in a long time. They are very friendly and make you feel like family...really I'm not kidding. It was entertaining listening and watching the customers come in and out. Oh and the food!!! Seriously the best asada tacos I have had in such a long time. No gristle, perfect texture and the flavor...lets just say it's a good thing we live 2 hours away. Unfortunately, yesterday I decided to order from their Cafe menu. I had the chicken teriyaki, which gave me food poisoning. Note: There are no other places around here to eat for miles so you're pretty much hoping this works out. Having said that, the sandwiches were OK, though the kitchen was painfully slow. It may have to do with the fact that we were out there on a Saturday, and so were a few thousand other non-locals visiting the area of the California Poppy Reserve, which is 10 miles to the east and spectacular when in bloom in March through April. If I could give them NO star that Is what I would Do! I called trying to obtain Video Footage from An incident where one of their customers left their property and ran me off the road! I was told by the very rude worker on the end of the phone that They Watched the video themselves, decided it was nothing they could do , deleted the footage , and in his own words "went on about his day" Very rude! Refused to help me ! Yelled at me when I asked why he couldn't use his system or cameras to help me find the guy! Told me that they have old equipment and refused to even try to help me !
