Kulute Ali intentionally, repetitively exposed me to excessive amount of radiation. Kulute Ali placed a pediatric lead vest on me to take a panoramic x-ray before I was taken to my exam room. I am an adult weighing 175 lbs. The vest only covered my shoulders. Kulute Ali then asked me to wait in the radiation room for about five minutes, she said, while she cleaned my exam room. I saw Dr. Dean, with my panoramic x-ray on the screen in my exam room. Dr.Dean told me a panoramic x-ray was not really used for looking at teeth. She said it was just to look at the jaws. Dr. Dean asked if "they" could take two more individual bite wing x-rays of specific teeth, without telling me which teeth. You would think they would want bite wing x-rays of all of my teeth if the panoramic x-ray was not used to look at teeth. Of course a panoramic x-ray IS used to identify decay on teeth, amongst its use for assessment of much more than the "jaws." Kulute Ali came to my exam room and asked me to come with her to do 2 bite wing x-rays. Kulute Ali attempted to place the pediatric lead vest on me again. I asked Kulute to please use the royal blue adult lead vest with the collar. Kulute said instead she wanted to use the light blue adult vest. Notably, the light blue vest did not have a collar. I kindly insisted on the royal blue adult vest because it had a collar. Kulute placed the royal blue adult vest with a collar on me. Kulute Ali then placed the bite black/receptor holder in my mouth, without using any film. The receptor holder was empty. Kulute Ali then pressed the exposure button six times. Kulute Ali repositioned the empty bite block/receptor holder in my mouth and then again pressed the exposure button six times or seven times. Kulute Ali then repositioned the empty bite block/receptor holder in my mouth and pressed the exposure button too many times for me to count, while I watched the screen on the extension arm continuously blink and read, "exposure," "exposure," "exposure," exposure"... over and over and over without ever loading film in the bite block/receptor holder and without moving it in my mouth. If I had to guestimate, I would say Kulute Ali pressed the exposure button at least 30 times, without ever one time loading film in the bite block/receptor holder she put in my mouth. Kulute Ali went to the computer and pretended to upload images and no x-rays displayed on the computer screen. I was not shown my bite wing x-rays because none were taken. Yet Kulute Ali and Dr. Dean pretended they were taken. Dr. Dean did not share any information with me about the health of my teeth, gums, jaws or palate. I audio recorded my entire exam, including Dr. Dean asking for the bite wing x-rays and including Kulute Ali coming and asking me to allow her to take bite wing x-rays and including my follow up conversation with Dr. Dean after she pretended to look at my bite wing x-rays in another room. read more

Staff, idk their name, who helped with the procedure and xray was very professional and warm. Front desk was so understanding and helpful. I just moved to area and can't imagine a better experience. I had no issue with this facility until recently. I have been due for a six-month check-up for a while now, and they have cancelled my appointment three different times with different excuses. I have had multiple occasions that made my experience get worse . This one was my last straw,I had an appointment at 10 am I got there early for my appointment and I was not attended till 12:10. I believe that the doctor is racially biased because he attended African Americans first while I was in the chair waiting to be attended with anesthesia already put in my mouth . He also has a very disgusting attitude towards Hispanic people. They treat us as if we don't deserve the same respect. While I am usually very hesitant to leave negative reviews, my experience at neighborhood dental has continued to leave a bad taste in my mouth. I went in for my first tooth cleaning in four years, due to the pandemic and personal circumstances. I was upfront with everyone that I hadn't gotten my teeth cleaned in a long time and I was really looking forward to it. The dental tech and front desk staff were lovely and helpful, but they unfortunately were not the ones cleaning my teeth. Instead it was the Dentist, Dr. Golightly, who 'cleaned' my teeth, which is unusual as most places have the tech do that. He spent probably around 3 minutes cleaning my teeth. He didn't floss, he didn't go tooth by tooth with anything. It was literally like four quick swipes with a tool and done. Then, he tried to tell me I had five cavities, after the dental tech had told me my x rays looked great and cavity free. When I had additional questions, he was super condescending and pulled up a google image of what a cavity is. Maybe I do have five cavities, but I certainly am not going to get them filled by someone who was so impatient with me during a simple cleaning. I do have Medicaid, and I'm assuming that's why my treatment was so poor. I do not recommend this dentist and it makes me angry every time I remember my experience. read more

This is the worst dentist practice ever. The do no have good customer service. The cannot keep dentist. The dentist that has been there for a while is abrupt and did a terrible job placing a crown. He goes from room to room without completing the services to on patient at a time. They never have an appointment to address any issues but want to charge the insurance and get a copay up front ... Horrible adult dentist, filled in my teeth to deep, causing them to be sensitive. Also told me I needed a root canal because of the deep filling and when I chose to see a different dentist they gave me a different treatment plan and the sensitive went away. They will call you the day before to tell you to make sure your on time or you won't be seen. When you arrive you will wait in the waiting room for at LEAST an hour. If you have anything else to do besides and X-ray or check up you will be moved to the back of the line. I've left work twice to be at my appointment only to wait an hour and reschedule repeatedly. If you have a tolerance for dental aggression, this is your place. It's not for me. New dentist. Never again. I was matched with them by my insurance company. I've never been numbed for a cleaning, but my radar went on when the doctor did so. He then said, "I'm going to try to clean your teeth." That made me uncomfortable, because "try" to me means "this may or may not happen," and when you are a professional, you simply do your job. By the end, my gums were bleeding, he caught and scraped the roof of my mouth with that high powered spinning brush, and hardly removed any stains or build up. He talked very fast with his mask on, even after I asked him politely to slow down and remove the mask when able so I could hear and understand. I loved this place for many many years and the owner is such a delight. The staff however is usually very raunchy and have poor customer service etiquette. The dentists hired are also hit and miss. I had a dentist fill the top left side, a total of three teeth and he did such a bad job that I couldn't floss in between two teeth because they were fused together by the composite filling. A few weeks later, one from the top and a molar on the bottom had holes because the fillings he placed there, fell out. I was four months pregnant! In agony I went to my prenatal doctors and got a medical clearance for x-rays , fillings and local anesthesia but of course providing documentation wasn't enough. They denied me the services I needed. Now A new dentist at this office, only temporarily capped my teeth and told me to see him three months after my due date which was in May! Almost 8 months after my temporary filling. So I was expected to wait in agony for eight months but unfortunately my bottom molar got infected from it being poorly covered and I got an abscess. A week after I gave birth to my daughter, I am sitting in the chair at their other location in Nickerbocker. That office is amazing but I ended up needing strong doses of amoxicillin ,motrin and oral surgery to pull the tooth which I had to pay out of pocket! Worst experience of my life. So I was left in pain until I paid to have the damn tooth pulled. Horrible horrible experience and it cost me my tooth that was totally salvageable when I went in there initially and all they had to do was give me a proper filling. read more

This place is a Chop Shop of Dentistry. You will be treated like a Farm Animal. The "nurses" look like Postmates/DoorDash delivery men dressed up in medical costumes. Very poor bedside manners and 0 knowledge of basic screening procedures. The dentist himself(tall asian man) is EXTREMELY arrogant and hates answering questions. They basically try to get you to agree with as many procedures as possible so they can bill you and make a significant profit at your expense. The 5-star google reviews you see of Neighborhood Dental, are all shill accounts with only 1-2 reviews to their name, none of them are local guides. My experience: I had my initial X-rays done in a closet, with minimal radiation protection(the chest protection they gave me was for children). None of the helpers(I refuse to call them dental assistants) there know what they are doing. They were very rough on me with the plastic X-ray devices. I needed the check-up for city employment, so I went along with it, but they were this close to getting these hands and being set straight. The actual meeting with the dentist himself was also a joke. He told me I had cavities in 5 different places. When I asked him to explain to me what exactly was wrong, he became very arrogant and flippant, as if he were in some kind of hurry, which sent alarm bells ringing in my mind. He wanted to do fillings and drill into my teeth on the very first visit. Ha, YEAH RIGHT. He instead, gave me the most lazy cleaning of my life. This is the worst dental office I've ever been to, the dentist was so rough that i have nerve damage and sever sensitively to anything that is hot or cold, when he was cleaning my teeth it was so painful that i grabbed the tool out of his hand and his hygienist/ assistant is even worse.
