This is a wonderful pediatric dental practice. I knew to expect a fabulous waiting room, since my…read moredaughter-in-law had sent pictures on a previous visit. But actually experiencing a preschooler's delight was really special. The waiting room is a small playground. One side contains a wall enclosed play area with a short slide. My Grandson immediately headed to this spot and in minutes was happily coming down the slide. In lieu of kiddie sized chairs, one wall was colorful 3 level bleacher style seating which could also be used for safe climbing. Children's books are strategically placed. Oh, and there's also an area for grown ups to sit. Much smaller than the play area, of course..... But the highlight was the examination. Can you believe I'm actually saying this about a dental visit? The child & his grown-up is led to an open floor plan exam area. There are no little cubicles to make one feel isolated and claustrophobic. Each station features a brightly colored dental chair, all in different hues. The child gets to choose their favorite color. My Grandson immediately ran happily to the bright blue chair and eagerly climbed into it. Wow, could this actually be a dentist appointment? Or might it be a play date with the amazing doctor? Never have I seen a Pediatric Dentist who was so good with children. She explained what she was doing to the child, not the grownup. And her demeanor was such that you could tell she loved children. That feeling was conveyed to the child, who happily cooperated with everything she wanted to do. And oh, the dental tools & utensils.... They were all child themed. What an amazing experience!! What a wonderful dental practice!!

I've never written a Yelp review and I thought a long time before writing this one. I feel that it…read moreis important for other families to know about our experience so they can prevent the same thing from happening to their children. I would give Dr. Hanford and Greenpoint Pediatric Dentistry a zero if it was possible. Options with our insurance are limited, so we ended up at GPD for both our son and daughter. The work was so poor that both our children needed additional work to correct soon after. After a few months of having her crown put in, our daughter developed an infection because it was not properly sealed, nor the initial cavity completely removed. She needed antibiotics and additional sedation work scheduled to correct. In addition to the quick, sloppy, and careless work, the dentist office is dirty and grim, and none of the staff seem to actually care about young children. They want to get you in and out as quickly as possible despite the involved procedures they perform. We were rushed at every step, spoken to in a condescending and dismissive manner, and never received a follow up from them after our call to complain about our traumatizing experience. They have no intention of taking their time to establish trust with your child. The doctor and his staff will physically restrain your child while you listen to their screams from the other room. They may say your child will not remember any of it, and this is a complete lie. My son still talks about his experience 5 years after the work was done. My daughter started crying hysterically when she heard our regular dentist telling us she needed to go back. We are still so upset about our experience. Please do yourself a favor and avoid this place.

For those who are thinking about coming here during this pandemic let me tell you they're taking all the precautions to protect you and themselves. I will update this review probably in another time, I want to give time for my daughter cleaning to see if it was worth. I use to take her to another place and they really take a good deep cleaning of her Teeth, for some reason here they just did the X-ray and brush her teeth not very happy about that.

The office door is disgusting; there are fingerprints and dirt on it. The toys that they have for the children to play with are dirty. The equipment the dentist used has literal dirt on the bottom, and the walls are dirty. This place needs a few workers to steam clean daily, clean from top to bottom. 2: I brought my child here (after school) because he was changing a tooth & his gums held onto the tooth. The dentist who saw him told me that my child had" numerous cavities & need extensive work" Surprising to me since I brush his teeth 2-3 times a day (In my household we are extremely careful when it comes to our teeth. My grandmother is 94 & still has all of her teeth) only for us to go home and I take a look, it was blueberry that he had during lunch...... You mean to tell me a Dentist doesn't know the difference between cavities & Blueberries? I bet this wouldn't have happened on the Upper East Side. If i could give the place a zero, I would. The facility is disgusting & the dentists are inadequate of dong their jobs

Took 3 months to get the right insurance, get it started, and schedule an appointment. At the appointment they asked me to pay full price ($350) and assured me I would get a reimbursement from the insurance provider. Month goes by, nothing. Two months, nothing. Three months I call the insurance and they say "we never got anything and that's not how we work, they send us the bill and then we send you whatever is left over." I called back the office, and they have now for OVER A YEAR, been giving me a "let me call the insurance and call you back." I get the same response every time. They tell me they never worked with that insurance and unsure why they said they did. They said they'll call the insurance and call me back, and I never hear back. I've called and texted them dozens of times and every time they say they'll call me back and they never do. The actual service is great, but their billing and management is horrendous. It should never be on the patient to figure out their billing and insurance issues. I've never had to deal with this with any dental office and it makes it impossible to recommend.
