My family and I went today for lunch. The place was packed, so we put our name on the wait list. One table cleared out and this obnoxious guy behind us started loudly complaining that the empty table needed to be seated. To his slight credit, he asked us if we wanted to go ahead and sit down. We informed him that we can't just go sit down because there is a wait list and we were waiting on the staff to seat us. Obnoxious guy proceeds to go around us (and past the giant "please wait to be seated sign") and sits at the table in full view of the staff. Staff sees what happens and....goes to take his drink order. We left and will not be back. read more

Family favorite! Been going there for years! Consistent comfort food that never disappoints! Friendly staff. Few restaurants do the "all you can eat" anymore so this is a real money saver and a great treat! I've even ordered the fried catfish for a funeral and other occasions it's ALWAYS been DELICIOUS! Love, Love some Neighbors lunch take out. Call ahead and drive through pickup. The homemade hamburger is hard to beat. It really should be mentioned when folks talk about the best burger in town. I am here in Mobile due to Ida. Looking for a meal that is like a home cooked meal. This place is it. The food was great. We had cheese burger, house salad the ranch each dressing was thick and creamy, the corn dog kids meal, pork meal with black eyed peas and fries. Seafood plate catfish and oyster with red beans and onion rings and last but not least fried okra. This was for a family of four. It was delicious and it hit the spot. read more

Neighbors has great po-boys and seafood platters. The batter is good and the seafood is fresh. The onion rings are fantastic. We were there for chicken on fried chicken day, chicken was good but some sides were not even warm, might have been a problem with the warmer. read more

Needed somewhere that could do 16 to go orders for our family group on vacation. Called and the young man who took my order was very patient and polite as I made my long order. The food itself was great! Vegetables were well cooked and flavorful and our service was wonderful! This is a cute little local joint with great prices, good food, and great service. We brought our three small kids and got 2 kids meals, an app, 2 adult entrees, and 4 drinks for less than $60. The fried dill pickles are really good. My husband enjoyed the fried shrimp, my girls' liked the chicken tenders and popcorn shrimp, and the catfish didn't have a "fishy" taste at all, which is always a plus. The fried pork chops are amazing! So was the mac & cheese. Our drinks were never empty, and the staff more than willingly catered to my small children's wants and needs. The fried seafood platter was cooked perfectly. The breading was light and cornmeal crispy. The coke slaw is different than most. I know the secret but I'll let you think about it. 2/13/21 3pm "Jaybird" Had he All U Can Eat fried chicken, chicken livers and/or gizzards plus choice of a dozen or so sides, plus cornbread. Waitress said $10.99 was new price not in menu yet but at checkout they ended charging me the full menu price $11.99! Livers looked & tasted good crispy but were pretty mushy inside. 3.5. Chicken tasted ok but had very heavy batter crust which was very greasy and meat was greasy. 2.5. Went thru several napkins on one piece of chicken. Cornbread was good. 4.0. Had turnips, black-eyed peas and flat green snap beans. All was edible enough but overcooked & soggy wilted with none of that home cooked seasoned flavor that I was hoping for. Tasted like just regular bulk cafeteria food. 2.0. Water was good. 4.0. Service was excellent at first until after I got my food an a bottle of ketchup. Wanted to order more sides but the server never came back. As I was leaving, I saw her in opposite corner sitting at a dining table eating a meal. The $3 tip I woulda left melted down to $0! I ate all my food & got my money's worth in volume if it had been only $10.99!! I might come back one more time just to try some seafood. Would not recommend it for a chicken and vegetable meal, though. read more

My husband and I have only had take out so far. The food is really good the "small" portion is huge, the large portion is big enough for two. The service is friendly at the desk but not very accurate. We have ordered from them three times and two out of the three times our order was incorrect. Things were also left off the order, such tartar and cocktail sauce. Next time we go I will be sure to bring this to their attention. Because the food is good. -------- We have been back a few more times since writing the above review and we checked the order for accuracy before leaving. It's worked out well. The fish is wonderful. Homey place. Doesn't look like much on the outside or inside. Very friendly down home staff and clintele. Good utterly amazing with huge portions and a good price. Crab claws delish. Chicken livers superb. Loved the fried flounder. Would give a five but red beans and rice were tasteless and bland. Restaurant ceiling air returns were VERY dirty. It saddens me to say goodbye to an old friend, but three strikes and you're out. I have been going to Neighbor's since they were a little restaurant operating out of an old gas station on Spanish Trail. I would time my trips going back and forth from Florida to Texas in order to be able to eat a meal at Neighbor's. However, the last three times I've eaten there, it has been subpar. I even asked if there had been an ownership change (they said "No"). The fried food used to be light and not greasy. That is no longer the case. The seafood comes out greasy, the fries are now consistently cooked in old grease and the fried okra-a favorite of mine-is overcooked, hard and greasy. Even the service, which used to be stellar, was inattentive and snippy. Goodbye, Neighbor's and good luck. You are now just a memory to me. read more

Just left there from picking up take out, and it was delicious!! I had the shrimp po-boy which I have to say was the best I've ever had. The shrimp were fried just right and the bread was nice and soft. The sandwich came with fries which would rival the fries from Checkers. I also had an order of crab claws, again, delicious. Cooked just right in a lite batter, and they were meaty. My brother and mother both had the oyster po-boy and they said they were delicious. My other brother had the chicken livers with rice and gravy, I'm gonna have to take his word on it that it was very tasty too. All in all, a wonderful meal that we thoroughly enjoyed. Comfort food for those times I'm not really craving anything specific. Fried chicken is spot on, fish is just ok, but for me the star of the show are the veggies; fried okra, and greens are my favorites. I keep hearing the Wednesday pot roast is amazing, but have not yet managed to make it by to try it. Service is mediocre at best, but this seems to be due to the customer to staff ratio. As others have pointed out you have to really work to get refills. I recommend staying away from the all you can eat options as its not really worth the trouble to get seconds. read more

Service was better on a less crowded day. No complaints about the food, although the breading on the fried chicken is a little heavy for my personal preference. One observation: be aware that if you get the all you can eat chicken and sides, you will have to stay on top of them if you really want your fill of chicken. When I order "all you can eat" I am a little disappointed when they start me out with only one piece. Just saying. Also had to remind them to bring the rolls. Don't come if you have celiacs disease they are VERY unwilling to substitute bread products for even just extra vegetables ... and have a very limited choice when it comes to meats that are Not fried.it was a bad choice for me. Went there for a date night and I ordered the Shrimp platter and he had the 2 choice seafood platter. We had the gumbo for an appetizer and we LOVED it. My husband said it was better than a majority of restaurants he has had gumbo at. Then our orders came, very quickly and very hot, the food was wonderful. My husband had the cabbage with his meal and had a heavenly experience with it. He bragged on that cabbage to all the servers that came to check on us. Now I do advise that you really don't need to go large on any of the platters, unless you intend to share with others at your table or home if you go through the drive through or do takeout, cause the regular size platters are VERY filling with enough left over to bring home. WATCH WHAT THEY CHARGE YOU!! They will rip you off! I am very upset with my visit this past Friday afternoon to Neighbors, I am going to share my experience in hopes this doesn't happen to anyone else that is smart. I took a girlfriend of mine out for lunch/dinner with some of my birthday money I got this year, we were there about 3pm it took us 25 minutes to get drinks and put our food order in and it goes without saying for a place that only had people eating at 3 tables in the place,(and like 6 women walking around a counter, trying to look like they are doing something) yeah them not busy at all should have been a warning to me. I got the food, things that should have been hot were room temp, and potato salad i got should have been cold was warm. I even went as far as to ask who exactly our waitress was and it was all of them, so we were being neglected by many WAIT STAFF not just one. Now I will admit they are wayyy over priced on their menu, but I knew that before going, I grew up in the area and have really only ever ate here once a year because my grandparents use to love eating here when they were alive, but with todays technology they still write out tickets of your charges and they nit pick every little thing on it, I took out leftovers and a snack order to go and got charged an extra .50$ i guess for the styrofoam container but as I was leaving I looked at my receipt and got charged $3.99 twice on my receipt, (i will add here too, I had to ask for it, they don't give it to you because they don't want you to catch these charges). I went back to ask about it, and they just tried to laugh off ripping me off, looking at the ticket that was wrote out she claimed they were charging me for a lemon pie to which I did not order! I did how ever have lemon in my tea, and for my fish and being as how there was no one in the place they expected me to believe they didn't know I didn't have this pie! I think not! Then still trying to laugh it off she said we do not charge extra for lemon, then why the hell was lemon even wrote on the ticket? read more

Excellent service in a very casual atmosphere. Had all you can eat fried chicken, stuck with wings but had to quit at 6. Comes with unlimited sides( about 15 different ones). Fried Okra was my favorite. The hot rolls are excellent also. read more

Driving through Mobile looking for seafood. We had the flounder and shrimp lunch specials. Service was friendly and quick. The food was great. Fresh, good breading, not greasy.
