I love açaí bowls!! I got the açaí banana berry bowl. It had strawberries, blueberries, banana and granola. It was super delicious, perfect amount of sweetness and crunch. They also gave us free ginger shots for checking in on yelp so that was nice! I didn't really like the shot since I'm not a fan of ginger and it was so spicy going down, but I know it has really good health benefits so I gave it a try! On the hunt for a nutrious treat and google search lead me to this Nekter location! It was a little difficult to find, but I called and the juice tender was very helpful in guiding me there. You can't see the front of the location on Lake Ave. The entry is in the outdoor seating area near Macy's and Corner Bakery, hope that helps! Upon entry the smell of fresh fruit filled my nostrils and I was pleasantly greeted! They get an A for cleanliness. The juice tender was pleasant ready to assist with any questions or to take my order. I ordered the new raspberry drink (sm), with a ginger and lemon shot on the side...yikes! The drink was delicious and the shot was like medicine, didn't taste good, but got the job done! Overall, this location was a great find! The juice is solid here. However my wife and I ordered online and I still had to wait twenty mins in store for our order. It was not an excessively large order. It's very similar to the very popular "Sunlife" (which is literally across the street) but it's just not as expensive! Lately I've been getting the pitaya bowl here, which is like a thick blended healthy smoothie (in a bowl) with fruit and granola on top. It's so yummy! The customer service here is terrible. I work in the same plaza and every time I come here they have a blasé attitude, and they are very slow with making the smoothies. On one occasion they helped 5 people before they helped me, when I was there first, and then proceeded to ask me what I ordered because somehow they forgot. Today I went in with a friend, and they were stocking items, neither person acknowledged us or took our order so we left. My family was eating at the corner bakery cafe right next door and everything just tasted...bad, to say the least. So I popped into this juice bar because it caught my eye, and wow, I was not expecting such an amazing place! This is the perfect place to get something healthy without compromising the taste at all, in fact it made that other cafe taste like cardboard in comparison! I had the pumpkin smoothie thanks to a friendly server's recommendation, and as soon as I got it, it was so good I chugged the thing in a minute. I love coming to Nekter especially when I want something light during my lunch break. I have tried something from each category - juice, smoothie, acai bowls and they all taste great and are all a refreshing treat. My favorite juice would have to be "The Buzz" which is mostly carrot juice with a bit of ginger and lemon. This juice is as refreshing as it looks and sounds! Although people tend to be grossed out by carrot juice, I actually think it tastes great especially with the ginger! Smoothie-wise, I always get the health-nut which is a nice healthy way of incorporating peanut or almond butter into your diet. Definitely less sugary and less calories than other peanut butter smoothies at other places! I tend to opt for the almond butter which is $1 more. It's also thick and sometimes I'll have this for lunch and it will keep me really full. I also like the nutty flavor without adding sweetness to it. For the bowls, I always get the banana berry acai bowl which is the most basic one in my opinion. Whenever I get an acai bowl, it always makes me full half way through so sometimes I share... sometimes! They put just the right amount of fruits on top but my ONLY qualm about Nekter is that sometimes they put too much granola. Last time I shared the Acai Peanut Butter bowl with my boyfriend and there was so much granola that it completely soaked up the smoothie part of the bowl (which is the BEST part). I was quite sad about that so from now on I think i'll be ordering the granola on the side. Also, be prepared to spare a few minutes when ordering. Everything is made to order, blending and juicing individual fruits can take a while! If I know I'll be in a hurry or want to pick it up for breakfast before work, I'll order online and never had a problem of it not being ready. So I got an email ad about the 2021 20% off digital card. I accidentally bought the $20 digital card where you get 20% off on 21 purchases for 2021, thinking that this was some $20 gift card, and now I'm stuck with it since Nektar customer service didn't respond to my mistake. On top of it, at least I got a free acai bowl which doesn't make up for the price of that. As an acai bowl lover, this place is subpar. The bowls are small and you get so little fruit. I use to go to Movita Juice Bar in Pasadena, and their size and fruit toppings are really generous. I get really jealous looking at their Yelp photos seeing what I get here. You probably get 4x the amount of fruit there in an acai bowl. Here, you get less than one strawberry and a few banana slices, and five pineapple chunks. On top of the pineapple chunks, I ordered a Mango Acai Bowl, and there was literally no mango and just pineapple. My god. The smoothies and juices are also really overpriced. for $7 you get 16oz whereas elsewhere like at Movita, for $7 you get 24oz. I came back twice just to make that 20% digital card worth my money and mistake, but maybe I should just take that fat L and stop coming here for the measley and frugal amount of fruit. Nékter is one of my go-to juice bars, because it's pretty close to where I live and they make some pretty awesome bowls. The first time I came here, I tried their Pitaya bowl and it was really good! I think I would rather go to Freshly Squeezed Juice Bar (located near Paseo) for pitaya though, because it's cheaper there and it comes in a waaaay bigger bowl. But the second time I came here, I got the Peanut Butter Bowl ($7.50), and it was one of the best bowls I've ever had. They blend banana, housemade vanilla cashew milk, peanut butter, and whip up a bowl full of nutrient dense ingredients. I asked them to not add agave on the fruits on top (banana & strawberries), and also asked for the granola on the side (because most of the time the granola takes away the actual flavor of the smoothie.. and additional calories of course). The PB bowl was 520 calories, but was well worth it because I was really full by the time I finished it. When you're craving an acai bowl and are in Pasadena, it's hard not to think of Nekter. Acai Banana Berry This bowl is pretty big. They only have one size. I'm a pretty big dude and it filled me up. My friend couldn't even finish hers, so this is plenty. It comes topped off with fresh strawberries, bananas, and blueberries. I wish it would've come with more fresh fruit on top, but I can't say I didn't enjoy mine. In fact, I devoured mine in seconds. It tastes that much better knowing that it's actually healthy for you. Wheatgrass Shot It pretty much tasted exactly like you would expect grass to taste like. This was my first and last time doing a wheatgrass shot. I came across this juice bar while going to Trader Joes to do some light grocery shopping. After a weeks worth of eating out, I decided to detox my poor stomach with some natural greens. They had a decent menu size with your various drinks mixed with your assortment of greens. The popular drink according to the worker was the Toxin Flush. I thought they provided samples similar to Pressed Juicery, but the worker had to ask for permission in order for me to try a sample. Nonetheless, a sample was given and the juice tasted pretty good so decided to order that one! The one thing that stood out to me was the prices for the various sizes of cups. There smallest size costed $6 and each size increase was $2. If you look at the size of the cups, then you will be able to see that the smallest size is the most worth it. The other sizes only give you a little bit more at the cost of $2, and their largest one capped out at $10. Pricey drinks, but at the cost of one's improved health then some finanicial sacrafices have to be made. After watching the worker get out fresh ingredients and blend them all together, the drink was finally ready! The ginger inside was a little overwhelming at first and towards the end my stomach didn't want me to drink it anymore but I forced it down. Immediately after drinking it, my stomach felt kind of funny so I assumed that it was the supposed drink flushing out all the toxins in my system. Overall, the drink was decent, and it did make me feel very good afterwards. I would probably come back here if I was in need of dire toxic flushing from my system. Perhaps 3rd time will be the charm with this location. Today's experience was quite painful; not just myself but for a half-dozen other customers. It was about 93 degrees and the air conditioning was not on. Two different customers around us expressed their frustration for waiting 15 minutes and 30 minutes, respectively, for their drinks. Another was told that product was out of stock (odd to be out of inventory at the start of a day). Unfortunately, my drinks just got rung up so I decided to stay. But that was my cue to start my timer on my watch and we went next door in another business that had AC to wait it out for the long haul. After 10 minutes we went back in and found one drink was ready. By the 20 minute mark we finally got our other drink. The Little Beet juice drink wasn't worth the wait as it tasted only like beet, instead of the mix that was expected. The Banana Berry smoothie was pretty much just banana, but maybe that's because Juice It Up and Jamba Juice are my benchmarks. Anyhow, hot day in a place without AC coupled with a 20 minute wait for drinks just does not make sense, especially when Jamba Juice is across the street and makes both smoothies and juice drinks in half the time. With that said, maybe it's "fool me three times" instead of twice until I'm really a fool. I'll try this place out once more before I throw in the towel. read more

Anyway, I love their cleanse! They had a special going on throughout June so I tried it for four days. I didn't feel hungry during the cleanse and felt great after. I snacked on raw almonds and some lettuce and avocado when I felt like chewing but overall I didn't have any issues getting through their advanced cleanse. I definitely dropped some weight by combining it with exercising and dieting so I'm happy. I also like their berry & banana acai bowl and some of smoothies. Not a fan of their freshly squeezed juices tho. Love the interior and service is decent.
