Incredible pizza. Best that I've had in Nash area. NY style pizza. And pizza by the slice

We were recommended this place by a few people to try as one of their favorite restaurants in Spring Hill. Since we had never been here before, we tried a variety of items. The garlic knots were delicious, the cannoli was good, and the antipasto salad was as expected. Unfortunately the pizza just didn't do much for us. We ordered our usual half pepperoni half ham, and it just wasn't anything to write home about. It was cooked well and the crust was perfectly shaped, but it just didn't have that "yum" factor where we wanted more slices. Maybe that's the style people like around here and I'm not knocking it for just that, but for us it was just an average pizza. read more

For a place that advertises the "best pizza in town" we were beyond disappointed. Crust was nowhere near NY style thin crust that they advertise, it was more like cardboard. Sauce was barely even there, and flavor was just not good. I hate posting bad reviews but this was just not good at all; such a let down with a big group all craving pizza!! read more

Opinionated statement: if you have to say "the best pizza in town" ...you're not the best pizza in town I came here because its literally right next to where I work. So the quality of convenience is great. What I ordered: the chicken parm Stromboli looked delicious so naturally I ordered it. The outcome: the cheese to meat ratio was 90/ 20. Not enough chicken, yet drowning and overflowing in mozzarella. So some may be thinking. Yum! What's the problem? For me I like to be chewing on more than a balloon of melted cheese. I may give this place 1 more shot and get their pizza by the slice...which is any of them. Oh yes...their salad...get the strawberry field salad..strawberries, spinach, candy walnuts, vinegarette, and blue cheese crumbles. Now this was actually good. This is my new favorite Italian place. Everything is delicious. We tried the lasagna and eggplant parm and split a slice of the stuffed pizza. It was almost as stuffed as I was. lol Also brought home a Stromboli for tomorrow. The thing is huge. In fact they cut it in half and the halves are huge and packed with meats and cheese. They serve a side of extra sauce with everything. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Found Nelly's on Yelp and so glad we did! They were packed when we got there but luckily a booth opened up while we paid for our order. Hubby ordered the lasagna and per recommendation of the girl that took our order I got the baked ziti. Since it was our first time, we also got a half order of garlic knots and split a supreme Stromboli to try out. First off their portion sizes are huge! Their portions are so big that it's as if you ordered 2 servings. All the food is made from scratch and they're so busy that even though they have the food displayed in the food bar it's always fresh. I enjoyed the garlic knots but they do use a lot of fresh garlic so if that's not your thing then you may want to stick with the yummy garlic bread that comes with the pasta. Hubby said he'd definitely order the lasagna again and the Stromboli was also good. I would also order the ziti again but will want to try other items as well. Along with our many leftovers, for dessert we took home a tiramisu and a traditional cannoli. The cannoli tasted exactly the way it should and the tiramisu is easily one of the best if not the best tiramisu we've ever eaten and we have a eaten a lot. Do these people understand Italian. I placed an order on the phone. I said sausage and peppers sub, I asked and said specifically, hoagie, submarine. ya know like at Jersey Mike's, subway etc. Yes was her response. I asked are they spicy sausage or sweet. She had to ask, she came back and said they are not hot or spicy. I get a spicy sausage, in a pita like bread. They have the gaul to call themselves Italian. Discraceful. The best eggplant parm in Tennessee and their spaghetti is always cooked to perfection. The owner is sooooo nice and the team is pleasant and helpful and efficient. I always pass by this place and was meaning to try it some time, and I did! This is a typical example of "never judge a book by its cover"- their sign looks old, and sorry I did not have high expectations. But thanks to some helpful yelp reviews and pictures, I decided to try them and I was pleasantly surprised ! Inside is like deli, they have pasta and Strombolian made, salads and desserts and you tell them what you like. I had a lasagna , which I thought was a generous portion, served with a piece of bread. It was so tasty and had a lot of cheese inside. I'm leaving 4 stars because although it was yummy, it wasn't hot. It was just warm, which can cool quickly under AC. Only came here once so far but as being a New Yorker it's been very difficult to find good food (especially Italian) in Tennessee so this place gets a 5 star rating. We ordered a regular cheese slice, 2 Sicilians and a couple of strawberry field salads. Very good all around. Keep up the great work. Friendly staff as well. read more

I love Nelly's and will absolutely go back. My experience today was not good. I ordered 2 slices of pizza to go. 1 pepperoni and one veggie. As they were making my oder, the guy came to me n said they are out of black olives, but had green olives. I said thank you for that heads up, but no green olives. Can you throw a couple jalapeños on there instead. Sure he said. When my order (no it was not busy, no line and the lunch crowd had left), I had 1 slice of veggie pizza and one slice of cheese pizza. No pepperoni... he saw his mistakes just before handing the box, so he puts the veggie slice on the top of the oven, heats up a pepperoni pizza, barely, and eventually I walk out with my order. When I get home, the pepperoni slice is stone cold and there is a handful of green olives on the veggie slice... Train your new people! read more

Working in Spring Hill i Always seen this place but never stopped. Today I stopped for a calzone and I do have to say it was pretty good. Not to mention I like the deli style for a quick lunch. No idea why this place had such great review. Staff is friendly. Pizza is ok, lots of toppings but the taste is really nothing special. We also ordered spaghetti with meatball. It tasted good, but the meatball was frozen in the middle. We sent it back. They heat it up but it was still not hot in the middle. At least their sauce is pipping hot. Now, here comes the garlic bread that came with the pasta. They tasted absolutely awful.....days old bread!! So, all in all, we will not go back and don't really have anything good to recommend unfortunately. read more
