The burgers were deliciously charred and juicy. The fries were fresh and crispy with a great sauce. This was the best meal on the scenic byway 12. Service was friendly and quick. Came to adventure here while our daughter was running the Escalante Marathon. Leaving town, we saw this slice of Americana and stopped to try one of their milkshakes. They are known for thick shakes and this was no lie. We devoured the chocolate shake in record time. Soooo thick but so creamy and it really hit the spot. This fun drive thru offers burger baskets that are served with fries and of course the famous Utah fry sauce. For those not in the mood for a burger, they also serve chicken, pork, and seafood baskets. Most importantly order that milkshake! Come for the milkshakes!! The milkshakes hit the spot after a long day of hiking. We tried the cookies and cream and orangsicle one. One size but plenty of it! I'm sure we just got a bad batch, but both of our burger orders were burnt. All we could taste was the over burnt patty. I was really disappointed considering I wanted to like the bison burger that was $17. If it weren't for the overcooked patty, I think I would of loved the jalapeño burger. They put a good amount of jalapeño and gave it the perfect spice! The sweet potatoes fries were yummy and the kid nuggets is a good choice for the kiddos. We were camping near Torrey Utah and were driving to Bryce Canyon. We stopped here for lunch. It was an easy ordering process, the food was delicious, and the outdoor seating area was super shady and comfortable. We brought our dog, Copper. The standout on the menu was the onion rings which had light, flakey, and crisp breading. The milkshakes are thick and come in unique flavors such as wild huckleberry. Each item is made for the individual customer and as a sign humorously indicates--if you want fast food, the nearesf is 120 miles down the road. We stopped here on the way from Capitol Reef National Park to Bryce Canyon National Park. After many windy roads and passing through small towns, including the frightening Highway 12 highway from the national forest nearby, we needed some dinner. We stopped for gas nearby and thought that this "drive thru" establishment would be a quick dinner, but it is clearly popular with locals and passerbys alike, since there were at least 5 groups of about 4-6 people each in front of us, alongside of a couple of drive through orders ok a Monday night. We ended up waiting close to an hour for our food. It was a pretty wild wait. I'm glad they exist and that the food was reasonable, just over $75 for 6 people, and that we could support local. But clearly they need to hire more workers, as we noticed just one cook in the back. Everyone enjoyed their food, which was clearly made to order - cheeseburger, grilled chicken sandwich, grilled chicken and mushroom sandwich, pulled pork sandwich, and the veggie burger. The buns were flavorful, as was the burger Pattie's and pulled pork. The veggie burger was a bit bland, but I heard the chicken sandwiches were pretty good. So overall, the food was good and I'm glad we stopped here, but I wouldn't stop here if I was in a rush (not even the drive through which has the same line and wait as those ordering from the window, since I watched one woman wait 35-40 min in her car at the window). Also, they don't have a bathroom but the gas station store has a nice restroom and some sundries to choose from. read more

Only thing I remember from this place is.... actually two things. 1. not so friendly counter lady. Well, it was Sunday and off season and probably the only place open around here other than the Subway and Escalante Outfitters. 2. for tip, cash or credit card.. yes. This place is expecting a tip for just doing cashier's job. She takes your order, tells the cook and calls your name over the PA system when the food is ready. very interesting thoughts. Got the burger and fish and chips. Burger was ok, fries were very hot and crispy and definitely big thumbs up. Fish and upgraded sweet potatoes were good. I don't know if they literally go churn the ice cream while you wait, but this milkshake tastes fresh beyond fresh. We got a regular old chocolate shake. It's clearly just been mixed, and the lightness of the chocolate flavor is actually perfect--and that's from someone who loves super-rich chocolate flavors. It's also nice and thick. Out of the nine of us who stopped for shakes and ice cream, 100% left happy. Service was polite and friendly. When you're coated in desert dust and ready for refreshment, this is a great spot. Not much going on here in off season, only a few committed hikers and therefore pretty much all of the food establishments were closed on a Saturday afternoon and evening here in Escalante. This is all except Nemo's that had one person working so you better be patient. To further this thought, a sign in the window told patrons that if you want it fast, McDonalds was 140 miles West! There were two groups in front of us so it was about a 25 min wait wishing I had a six pack handy! The food arrived, a 1/4 pound bacon cheeseburger with fries and onion rings ala carte. Also had the 1/3 pound Bison cheeseburger and fries plus two shakes. Both burgers and fries were great, lettuce, tomato complemented the burgers. Onion Rings were also good and shakes were more like soft serve in a cup, needed a spoon to enjoy. The cost of this sit outside establishment was not cheap coming in at $53.00 for two. Vintage in a good way, burgers and fries and milkshakes all made to order. At least that's what *we* ordered and the food really hit the spot. Pamela also got some onion rings and they were crisp and sizzling. Molly ordered the veggie burger and with some crisp lettuce, fresh tomato and a better-than-average bun, she was happy. I ordered the bison burger and it was cooked perfectly, just *barely* a little pink at the center the way I like it. Came here during a mini-vacation from CA while we were visiting Bryce Canyon National Park. It was about an hour away from the lodge we were staying at and we wanted some burgers and decided to drive the hour. Great little burger joint if you're willing to make the travel out to this small town. I got the adventure burger, which had 2 patties, onion rings, and most important BACON. The fries (didn't take a picture) had a considerable portion and also came with their fry sauce. That small soda, based on my CA standards seems to be more of a medium or large, not complaining though. Decided to get a shake after our meal. I got the chocolate and peanut butter one while my parents got the strawberry one. Might get Utah folks upset but my idea of a shake is one that comes with a straw... nonetheless it was great albeit it being different. There were only 2 people working in the place but there wasn't a whole lot of people there when we went. The lady helping us out was great. Kudos to her for manning her station. Great place for those visiting Bryce and want a burger from a classic place. Definitely will be back whenever I'm in the area again. read more

While there aren't many options in Escalante, thankfully, there's Nemos! My bacon cheeseburger with two fresh beef patties, American cheese, bacon, ketchup, and onion was tasty! I was camping in Escalante over the weekend and stopped here to get some ice cream. I asked if they sold small kid cups mbecause I had my dog with me. Not only did they provide my dog with a little kid cup of vanilla ice cream, they put some bacon on it. I appreciate these types of places that go above and beyond. Providing a fancy treat for my four-legged companion was so sweet. I got the huckleberry ice cream and it was delicious on a hot day. Cold, order wrong, long wait, poor taste Nemo's was a giant disappointment this evening. We waited 30 minutes for a simple order of a cheeseburger and a veggie burger. When the order was finally sent out, it was stone cold, the fries soggy, and we asked for unsalted fries and we got stupidly salty ones instead. Nemo's is a little burger shack right on the main road in Escalante. Known for their hand made shakes, they definitely load 'em up. The Oreo shake we bought was overflowing with delicious cookie chunks mixed in creamy and smooth vanilla ice cream. The shake was so big we had to share it. Also served here are your traditional burgers and fries, chicken burgers and sandwiches. I opted for the mushroom Swiss burger myself, but probably should've read the menu a bit closer. The burger patty was minuscule, then there was the swiss cheese and mushrooms. In my head I expected it to come with lettuce and tomato, alas it did not. Flavors were good and the quality was fresh. Only downside; the burger was small and the prices were big. I guess Nemo's has to make there money somehow. If you choose to take the scenic route(hwy 12) connecting Capitol Reef and Bryce Canyon national park, you pass through this little town. It was a pleasant surprise to find a vegan patty here. Unfortunately the taste was disappointing. Vegan patty was soy based, which am not a fan of. It was topped with basic stuff like lettuce, tomato, pickle, onion, mustard and ketchup. So nothing in there to make me forget that I was eating a tasteless soy patty. The burger came with fries which were good. They have quite a few tables, all outdoors. Unfortunately, the mushroom swiss burgers were less than outstanding and the fries somewhat limp. Based on this, and relatively high prices, we would not return. The burgers & fries are great quality for a drive-thru and it's one of the few places open for food in Escalante during this COVID pandemic! So all in all, I'd come again if I were looking for easy, fast food in this town. All of the burgers seem to come with ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, and lettuce. I got the veggie burger, which was neither the best nor worst veggie patty I have ever had. It was tasty and not too dry, but not as good as a well-cooked Beyond Burger. The bun was nicely toasted, and I subbed sweet potato fries for regular fries, which were perfectly fried with a hint of salt. My husband got the bison burger, which he had never tried before, and loved it! Also, the fries come with a tasty dipping sauce (similar to chipotle mayo). Prices in this town are higher than expected in general, so 2 burgers + 2 sweet potato fry orders cost almost $30. Also, the hours posted are not necessarily true (for instance they were randomly open on a Tuesday this week), so if a nice burger & fries is tickling your fancy and you aren't sure if they're open, just drive by and see if the lights are on. We seemed to catch them off guard when we showed up, so it took a bit longer to get our food than expected for a drive-thru, but not longer than 10 minutes.
