Old school diner vibes! Burgers, fries, and fry sauce are amazing! Awesome shakes! Reasonable prices. Staff very friendly!

Three years ago I was in town visiting Zion with family. We had to stop to do laundry across the street and I walked over to grab a strawberry/oreo milkshake. It was THE best strawberry/oreo milkshake I'd ever had. Waited three years to make it back here and it's STILL the best strawberry/oreo shake I've ever had but we also got burgers and fries. Everything was cooked perfectly. I had the cheeseburger with everything and husband got the Rustler burger with no onions. Burgers were hot and delicious. Bun wasn't soggy. Meat to bread to veg ratio was excellent. The fries were hot and crispy but still meaty. Fry sauce is a must. I'll be honest that we've been on the road living like nomads for over 6 months. I have had way more pizza, tacos and burgers than I can count so I am quite frankly, a little sick and tired of burgers. But this was absolutely worth it. And you know it's good when half the town was here for dinner. 2 large shakes, 2 burgers, large fry, large drink $28. Literally can't beat that. Would highly recommend. read more

Stopped by Big Al's Burgers as the first food stop on my trip, and it definitely set the tone with a great meal. Food: I ordered a Big Red burger with just ketchup, fries, and a vanilla shake -- everything hit the spot perfectly. The burger was juicy, the fries were crisp, and the shake was creamy and classic. My wife got the Hustler burger and really enjoyed it, saying it had great flavor and balance. So.... we've been on the road... wanted a quick take-out dinner to eat in the room. WOW! Yelp did not disappoint. Cheeseburger with onion rings was outstanding. Bison burger was excellent. Service was quick and friendly. Place was full of locals. But the milkshakes and fry sauce took the whole experience into the sublime. Fast and friendly service with very reasonable prices. There are table inside and outside to enjoy your meal. You order at the counter, and they call your name to pick up your order. I got the bison burger. I was not expecting it to be cooked to order. I really could not tell the difference between bison and beef. The fries were hot and the soda refills were free. Wanted a quick eat while staying in Kanab and at the recommendation of the Springhill Suites staff I opted for Big Al's. Great atmosphere as you enter, the staff seemingly having a good time and very welcoming. I couldn't decide between the Big Red and the Bison burger, but they did the Bison for me Big Red. Not the best burger I've had (although I've never had Bison before) but really enjoyable along with the waffle fries. read more

It's a must stop if you want something good and cheap. We stumped upon this place and I'm glad that we gave it a try. The food was good especially my chicken salad. It's fresh and you could tell that they didn't prepare it in advance. They truly live up to " we don't make it until you order it". The cashier was patient answering our questions. Literally just left this place. Multiple people asked for refunds and left due to ungodly waiting. Received our food. Cold fries and burnt burgers. Service was "meh" at best. I hate to put down a small town business, but they really need to step it up. It's not even busy season yet. read more

After a day of hiking, Al's hit the spot. I stopped in here wanting something tasty and filling and boy did I get both. The burger was absolutely delicious, fries were perfectly salted and came with delicious sauce, and the milkshake was fresh and so good. My boyfriend got the chicken tenders with waffle fries which were amazing too. Way better than fast food. The staff is so kind and helpful and everything is made fresh to order. They politely ask you to give them time while they make your food, and you can taste that none of it was frozen or sitting around. We ate outside at the picnic tables in the shade and it was lovely. Fast food location. Can order in or drive through. I chose to go in and order take out since it was close to closing time. The menu is fairly expansive. The menus on the walls are slightly different than the one at the counter. For instance, my burger with cheese was different than without, which makes the one posted on the wall misleading. Not a big deal though. The food was good but quite greasy. The double was quite a large burger and although the tater tot container was small, the quantity was more than enough. Overall worth trying if you don't want the typical fast food chains. The options alone make it worth it to try. There appeared to be a milkshake or soft serve machine of sorts. We are just passing through on our way home, and are staying at the Holiday Inn express in Kanab. What a great fine big gals has been. What a find this place was. Passing through from out of town and family needed food. Got a bacon cheeseburger that was packed full of flavor. Onion rings were really good too! my youngest got chicken fingers and they were a good size and cooked well (not dry and burnt). Food is clearly made to order here. When riding cross country on a motorcycle from Richmond, VA to the Grand Canyon, we've depended on many others to recommend places of interest, decent lodging and, most of all, good food. We stopped for gas in a tiny town and asked where to get a good bite. Several local customers and the 2 employees unanimously said Big Ala Burgers. We did not hesitate. "About 7 miles that way", in the direction we were headed. Off we roared! We found Al's easily, in the middle of a pop up hail storm. Pelted and soaked we made our way in... We all ordered the Rustler with cheese and some waffle fries. They offer a "special sauce" for 15¢ that we had to have. Gotta say, that Rustler (1/4 lb hand patted beef) was one of the best burgers ever and I don't think it was just cause we were starving, road weary and drenched. The "special sauce* was only thousand island dressing and some mayo, but it was perfect with those amazing fresh cut waffle fries. We are hunkering down here in Kanab, Utah for a couple of days and I know we will stop in again. read more

Don't often review places on here, but had to give a shout out to Big Al's. My family was visiting Zion and Bryce and staying in Kanab. This place might look like a sonic on the outside, but is way above and beyond that. It is so clean inside, the prices are great and the food is amazing. You can tell the product is good and very fresh. My family of 3 ate for $30 and I ordered 2 sandwiches (The hubba is amazing!). Just a great, simple spot to grab a good sandwich! read more

I love going on road trips. You never know what interesting places you will come across. I found Big Al's Burgers at The Junction on the way to Monument Valley from Zion. They don't have any classic burger joints like this where I live. I tried the buffalo burger with lettuce, tomato, and bacon. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp. Buffalo had a texture like a beef patty. Flavor was a bit more gamey. Pretty good burger. Perfect for a small lunch. I'd add an extra patty if I was very hungry. The water filtration wasn't working on the ice machine. It had that tap water flavor you get when they put in chemicals to kill the bad stuff. Prices were good and staff friendly. Next time I think I'll go for a regular burger, shake, and onion rings. read more

When I was staying at Kanab for a trip to Zion, Bryce and some other parks, I hit up Big Al's thinking nothing of it, just a quick dinner. I ordered 2 corndogs, and when I took the first bite, I was in love. 2 days later I had to stop by for a Peanut Butter Banana shake and some tater tots, and it was safe to say this was some of the best food I have ever had. Unfortunately, I live on the east coast so I probably will never be able to have it again, but im grateful to experience the one, the only, Big Al's Burgers At The Junction. read more

Had a hunger for a good burger and fries and this location was recommended. Looks like it was an old A&W that had curbside service at one time. Plenty of parking and plenty of outside seating as well as easy on / off to the main road. The hamburger and fries were great, especially the fries, not sure what they put on them, but these are better than the old McDonalds fires used to be! I visited this small-town burger shop and ordered a double bison burger, green chili burrito, cheesecake shake, and sweet potato fries. The service was quick and friendly. Double Bison Burger: I enjoyed the double bison burger and would get it again. I heard the ranchero style is fantastic, with added jalapenos and green chili and a substitution of the regular sauce for ranch and barbecue sauce. Green Chili Burrito: The flavor was lacking. I don't know if they put green chili in it. Although it was a good size for 5 dollars, I wouldn't recommend it. Sweet Potato Fries: They were average. Cheesecake Shake: The shake was quite unique. They mixed a full piece of cheesecake into it, giving it a creamy texture and a nice cheesecake taste. Due to its richness, I would recommend getting this only if you are sharing. I gave this 3 stars because the burrito was very bad. Next time, I will order something different. I went back and forth between 3 and 4 stars. read more

Idk how this place doesn't have 5 stars. We stopped in on the way back to Zion National Park from Page, Arizona. I think we pulled in at 9:56pm not knowing what time they closed. We were reading the menu outside of the building when an employee came out and, instead of running us off, said we had three minutes to close so needed to get our order in quick. The entire team there was so kind. And the food, seriously some delicious burgers! I wish all fast food joints were this delicious. 10/10 highly recommend. read more

This place!!! Local family ran place, so nice! We stopped late Saturday night, they saw us looking outside at the menu, came out to tell us they were closing soon, but were more than happy to take our order. We ordered a huge meal with no fuss. The food was made fresh, super delicious!! It made our evening! Burgers were amazing, onions rings, fries, and tots all cooked perfectly! I hope we can eat there again on our next trip!
