    Chimichanga
    Sunny H.

Had dinner here and the staff was very helpful. I got the chimichanga with pork verde and it was huge. It comes with rice and beans plus chip and salsa. That's a lot of food for the price. Overall a solid choice to eat

    Not just mexican anymore?
    Tiffany J.

This is NOT just a mexican restaurant as advertised. It has burger and other American type foods. The waitress was very nice and helpful! They were busier than normal so they ran out of the meat for all the mexican dishes (small town?). Not a big deal, they put chicken in the burrito, which was good and juicy. The burrito only had chicken and cheese in the burrito? I don't know if that's normal. The beans were from a can, the tortilla was probably a mission tortilla and the rice tasted like it was from a premade Spanish rice box. They chips and salsa was good. Wouldn't go back.

Three star reviews: I understand the 3 star reviews some folks have provided. Compared to big city locations it might be below some expectations. But, the food was very good compared to other restaurants in the area we went to. My review: I give it a five star because the food was tasty, the view was great and it was laid back. I'm pretty critical and straight forward in my reviews and I gave "sunset 89" - 5 stars. Was it the best place I've eaten and experienced -no. But for the area and our vacation - it was the best place we ate at. Normally: If this was a place in my hometown I'd probably give it a 3 star. Cost: The cost was a little high. But everything was a bit high in this vacation spot. We split the short rib bowl between two. If you are real hungry then it should easily fill you up but you should not share then.

Our server was very friendly and helpful, but halfway through dinner all our drinks were dry. Food was delivered and then we were quietly left to enjoy with no check back. The end of dinner it took another 20 minutes to get the check and a box. We started with the Fried Brussel Sprouts, which were Incredible! I was going to get the Loaded Fries for my entree, but they were sold out of the short ribs. For my entree I got the fish and tots ( the entree is originally fries, but i switched ) My friend got the BBQ pork belly Bowl. The Yakisoba noodles were a bit chewy, the Steamed Rice was perfect. I was going to get the Churro Sundae, but the evening got too late.

They have online ordering which made it really easy for quick and fast pick up. I ordered the tikka masala pizza and a small was enough for a couple meals. I like that its thin crust but the flavor I was expecting just wasn't there. I thought there was going to be som spice with the jalapeños but again, lacking. It was nice to have an option for pizza since I was staying in Torrey and it was slim pickings with restaurants but in the end, the pizza fell flat.

Grabbing them the breading was sliding off due to the sogginess. The pizza was fine but didn't taste like tikka masala at all! There was barely any sauce on the pizza (which is the tikka masala). If you told me it was a regular pizza with no curry flavor I'd believe you. It wasn't horrible but again for somewhere that advertises curry pizza, I would think they'd have lots of flavor. The service also took 40 minutes which was so long and people who ordered after us and got far more food were served first. Overall would give a 5/10! Not a bad meal in a pinch but would definitely never go back.

Our server was attentive at first, but after receiving the charcuterie board and shifting into dinner, he didn't touch the table at all. We received our duck dish and were waiting for the other dish and side to come out, but luckily, my girlfriend insisted we eat. After finishing the duck dish and still waiting at least 30 minutes, I finally stopped our waiter to bring it up and ask for the check. All he said was it was coming, but we still just wanted the check. Not sure if the kitchen timing was off since it was a weekend and Valentine's Day, but very disappointed with the service. It should also be noted that when we sat down, two tables next to us were finishing up. We ordered our food before the new customers arrived at those two tables. Both of those tables received full service, including dessert, before we were even checked on. Even once we stopped the server to cancel the remainder of our order, there was no apology given.

We arrived about 6 and waited about 20 minutes for a very nice booth. We split a pretty good-sized house salad. It was fine. I had the trout with asparagus and sweet potato fries. Fish (lemon pepper and salt) was tasty and perfectly prepared. Asparagus was also perfectly cooked, still a bit of crunch. The fries were too limp but tasted good. My hubs ordered the ribeye. Looked so juicy and charred but was a bit tough. Flavor was great and it was a gigantic 16-oz. portion. Coffee was tasteless, unfortunately. The absolute highlight of the meal was the pie! The apple pie is the best I have ever eaten. The filling contained nice slices of apples, no mushy stuff here. And the crust was incredibly flaky with a bit of sugar baked on top. My husband ordered the cherry pie à la mode and was quite pleased with the pie and two little scoops of ice cream alongside. Nice staff too! This place is popular for a reason. It HAS to be that incredible pie.
