I noticed that it has been two years since I wrote my first glowing review of Neo Autoworks and I feel compelled to update and let y'all know that, if possible, I would give 7 out of 5 stars to this gem. Every time I bring my car in they go above and beyond to send me home safe, satisfied, and with a smile on my face. My car has over 100k in miles so I've had to do a few things to the engine and it adds up over time. (Not to mention they've done miracles with repairs from accidents I've had.) It's so humbling, in this day and age, to not only experience pure kindness but compassion from an interaction where you're truly at the mercy of a business. Think about all the businesses we rely on that, by their nature, wield power over essential services we need in order to function in society. For example, health insurance, pharmacies, or even utilities....when was the last time you didn't feel taken advantage of by these types of interactions? Taking the bus is a wonderful option we have in the Bay Area, but as a disabled woman with mobility issues, I accomplish a fraction of what I need to on the bus versus in my car. This is what some businesses know, and use to take advantage of their customers, so it's refreshing to have such a positive/non-exploitive exchange with a company. Honestly it restores my faith in humanity a little bit every time I interact with Jeff and Jenny. Today they repaired a seal that was making my vehicle leak/burn oil. When I came to pick up my car Jeff let me know that they went ahead and repaired two other issues because they noticed them and wanted to help me out, "As a loyal customer." Of course I am a loyal customer, how could I not be when every time I come in they go above and beyond to keep the costs down and help me out?! I know they could have charged me a few hundred more, not only for the job they did today, but additionally for the extra work they did for free. It was such a relief and blessing to come back and have those extra items checked off my list of worries. Just had a great body repair experience here at Neo Autoworks! The owner Jeffrey was a nice guy, very patient and very responsive in communication. I only spent a few minutes calling insurance company to file the claim, and then Jeffrey took care of this rest of things, appraisals and getting estimate etc. The whole process went very smoothly and I didn't need to worry about anything. The repair was done perfectly! Great job on the paint works! And he also found that two of the chrome window trims are not aligned so he even replaced them for free since they are not covered by the insurance claim. This was so nice! My Audi had major damage, but I have had bad experiences with other body shops, they take the car and sit on it, and are always a week or two late, even if parts are ordered in 'advance.' the insurance co's provide loaners, but they are always tiny cars. Please be warned, that going to Neo Autoworks is willingly putting your car in DANGER. It will be a BIG mistake to believe the FAKE 5 Star reviews. This is without a doubt the WORST experience I have ever had with my car. They messed up my car and also lied. I went to this place to get an oil change. This is the first time in my life that a so called 'professional' car shop did my car's oil change without mounting the car on an automotive lift. They just left the car on the road and did the oil change by slightly lifting it with a jack. Here are the PHOTOS. After I left, the car started making a STRANGE NOISE. The Chinese OWNER is a complete liar. He lacks basic decency or integrity. LIE #1: As soon as I came, he forced me to change my tires. My tires are in great condition. But he wanted to make extra money by up-selling. LIE #2: He promised that he will be doing tire-rotations and checking brake pads. But he straight-up LIED about it. After I questioned him clearly a few times (because I never saw them mount the car on the auto lift), he agreed that they NEVER EVER DID THE TIRE ROTATION OR CHECKED THE BRAKE PADS!!! I have never experienced such a terrible service before. LIE #3: When I took the appointment, he said that it will take no more than 30 mins to get my oil change. He told me to come at 1:30pm sharp. He said that if I am late by even 5 minutes they cannot take my car or it will get late. So I skipped my lunch and got there exactly at 1:30pm. Till 2pm they had not even started with my car. So I gently told him that they need to get started. Finally more than a hour later I left the place - WITHOUT even a proper oil change or tire rotations!! LIE #4: The owner will ask for your personal information - details about your residence, etc. and will tell you that you are required to give them this information because there is a rule in California to do so when you get your oil change. I have been struggling with writing this review. It is tough for me, because while I like Nam and Tony, and I believe that they are good and fair business owners and people I want to continue to work with, I did have problems with my repair. So, I took my Subaru 2006 Outback in to Neo for a timing belt and water pump service. Repairs were done promptly and car was returned in a little over 24 hours. The pricing was good. About 300 less than what I would have paid a the dealer. Shortly after getting the car back we had some issues. The power steering belt was not properly adjusted and screeched to high-heaven. The car seemed to be running warmer than normal. On my way home from work, I noticed a fairly sizeable leak of coolant. I called the shop. So here is where the story takes a good turn. Nam was exaclty what you would want from an owner. He took full responsibility for the auto. He immediately sent a tow truck and promised to get to the bottom of the issues. Turns out the belt needed adjusting and a new radiator hose needed reclamping. They kept the car for several days (and offered me a comp rental which I fortunately did not need) to make sure the old problems were fixed and new ones didn't arise. They fixed the problems and the car is now in good working condition almost a month later. With what I went through I had to dock a few stars (sorry guys), but I will return to Neo for future service and if all goes well give em a higher rating. read more

I've been meaning to write this review for a few years, and today, I just had yet ANOTHER fantastic experience with Nam Ly and his team at Neo Autoworks. After someone ran me into a median this past Friday night, I had my car towed to Neo's. I'm so glad I did. I'm positive that had I have taken it anywhere else, I would have been told I would need to have 27 expensive repairs (that I my car actually wouldn't require). I know little to nothing about cars, and honestly, I just have to take people on their word. By having my car towed to Neo's, I'm 98.7% sure I ended up saving a significant amount of money for unnecessary repairs. I've taken my car to Nam about 6 times in the past few years, and every single time, I've walked away having required less work than I assumed I needed, and paying probably a quarter of the price I had expected to pay. On one visit, I thought I needed new brakes. Nam tested them, called me back, and said my brakes would probably be good (and safe) for at least another two more years. I was totally prepared to have to pay for all new brakes. How many mechanics do this? I trust Neo Autoworks implicitly. If you are anywhere in the area and need a mechanic, I highly suggest you go to them. They are just plain good, honest people. read more

The customer service was great throughout the ordeal and they were very trustworthy. I really liked this place. (Caveat: they haven't finished fixing my car yet, so it's possible the experience could go sour.) They were open on Saturday -- huge plus given that's when my car was hit. I'm big on places that are open seven days a week, and it doesn't seem like many car repair places are. The people were friendly and professional and get huge points for customer service and being tech-savvy -- I don't check my voicemail regularly and my greeting says so, so the mechanic started texting me updates. (I was _really_ impressed. By comparison, the garage Allstate recommended apparently didn't get that they could text my phone number and just left me voicemail complaining they didn't have my email.) The physical space was in good shape -- the office was nice and had some awards (which may or may not be meaningful); the lot was clean, and there were some nice cars being worked on there. The story goes like so: One Saturday someone broke my car. I didn't realize this until I was pulling out and heard horrible scraping noises like I was pulling a huge chunk of scrap metal. That's what it sounds like when you drive on a tire rim. Someone had hit my parked car HEAD ON over the night, puncturing a tire and snapping one of the connections between the tire and the body of the car. The impact also detached my front bumper, scraped up the side of my car, and ruined the other wheel by smashing it into the curb. Maybe it was a U-turn gone wild, maybe some drunkard stumbling out of Rockridge's noisy bars drove his garish yellow SUV up the wrong side of the road and right into my poor Honda. Either way, my car wasn't going anywhere on its own four wheels. Allstate provided a specific garage recommendation, but unfortunately, this happening on the weekend, that place was closed. The tow-truck driver from Berkeley Towing recommended another place that was open and would take the car, so, for want of any other options, off we went to Neo Auto Works. The driver (who waited for us there and gave us a ride back; he was very cool, very helpful, and very friendly) told us about how he once called one of the guys there on a Sunday, who came and opened the lot to accept a car. If that's true, that's great, and it wouldn't surprise me. The young guy who checked my car in and worked with me was friendly, helpful, and enthusiastic -- he took the time to talk us through my car's problems in much more detail than would have been necessary to move us along. The tow-truck driver (who didn't seem to have any incentive to sell me on this place, but who knows) told us he first found out about that place from a towee, who said her whole family used Neo Auto Works whenever they needed repairs. If the repair lives up to the experience I've had so far, I'll be using Neo Auto Works for all my future needs myself (may they be none). read more

I took my Miata for body repair after my side view mirror got knocked off. They were quick, flexible, and gave me a ride back to work even though they were on break when I got there. Even better, the repairs did not cost as much as they originally estimated (which was a reasonable estimate). One of the last honest auto services shops around. The don't overcharge or find things you don't need. Fast in and out repairs. I take my bimmer there for engine service and windshield repairs. Have even taken my motorcycle fiberglass fairing there for repair sanding , and sprayed with primer. My friends take their cars here for collision repairs and painting .I'm restoring a 1968 car so taking our car to this shop for painting and rusty floor pan replacement.
