I neglected to do that bc I figured it couldn't cost that much to basically get a tire rotation and have them spend 15-20 min checking fluid levels and stuff. Not complicated AT ALL. Attached is what's needed. I was charged like $200 and was floored. Esp now that I'm due for my next routine maintenance and other places are quoting me $35 for a rotation. Maybe these guys are fine for actual repairs and serious mechanic work, but I don't appreciate being taken advantage of, which is quite common in this industry against women, which is sad.

Check with another shop before taking your car in to simon.To do the work. My mistake! You can make up your own decision. Simon cannot be trusted. I've been going there for I think, 6 or 7 yrs. Simon, why do I have to show the receipt to you? Who are you? I don't need you to be my mechanic anymore. Lol I see how the game is played. You're lucky I don't like fixing cars or getting involved in cars. What I know now I can open a shop next. Door to you and put you out of business. I don't want to waste my time on cars! You're the one that rip off your customers. I'm just telling your customers my experience for being a good customer 6-7 years, with you. I'm not questioning you on the work e for all this. So you're asking me for receipts, why would I give you receipts and give up my contacts. This work has been been done a week ago. I took a picture after having coffee and breakfast. That's why you see two rotors there. The mechanic was so quick. I wasn't going to post, but you keep opening your mouth. This is my third and final reply to u! I've been a good customer of yours. 6-7 years. Not one time I ever haggled about price. I'm a customer that drops off the car and wait for you to tell me how much. It's my fault for getting to comfortable with you. Throughout this experience i've learned where to source out materials on the cheap! Now, I just need to find a couple more shops to keep everyone on there honest. So thank you simon for that! If you really want to find out who it is, I'll give you three hints. 1. He's chinese. 2. He's in oakland. 3. He is honest. You can figure out if it's you or not. This post is going to hurt you more me. You just don't want to accept responsibility Simon. He also gave me a few questions to ask just to be safe. That kind of reassurance, from hundreds of miles away, was priceless. However it died unexpectedly @ a ' ' Refueling Stop ' in Berkeley @ the GAS STATION on Shattuck @ Ashby. He suggested I bring it in ASAP for a " Charging System Check " - which I did the same day about 4 weeks ago. Him and his Assistant Mr. AFSAND , who I'd dealt with previously , had me pop the hood to connect their Meter Etc giving my Charging System ' A CLEAN BILL Of Health. When I dropped off my car, I was told it would be ready around 12:30-1:00 p.m. and that I'd receive a call when it was done. I decided to stick around the area. At 1:00 p.m., after waiting two hours, I walked back to check on the status and found that they hadn't even started working on my car. When I told them I was leaving, the employee suddenly asked if I could wait another 10-15 minutes because he could "start it now". So frustrating. My scheduled appointment meant absolutely nothing until I complained and I was not interested in a rushed oil change... If your business can't honor appointment times, don't offer appointments. Respect your customers' time. I would not recommend taking your business here. I certainly won't be back.

I ended up having to call 3 times until I was able to speak with the owner Vahe (sp? ; I'm not sure if he's related to Raj, the previous owner apparently) who refused to give me an estimate over the phone and said he had to 'plug it into my estimate software.' After some additional quibbling, he finally told me that it would probably cost around $600-700 dollars. This amount of money for a simple door and hood swap is ridiculous! It's something I could do on my own time but I just don't live in a place that allows for mechanic work (apartment complex) or access to all the tools. I recall Raj was way nicer and professional about it rather than trying to sound like a used car salesman and sleaze their way into bringing my car to the shop (I would have to ask a friend to bring the spare parts to be swapped since they don't fit in my car, at which point would be difficult to decline the job). Really, really disappointed and I don't think I can recommend this place again. *Update* Very interesting that the owner chose to respond so quickly upon my updated review. Their claim was factually false, as reasons to bring in my car were never discussed over the phone and he repeatedly just stated that he would be plugging in and quoting me whatever his estimate software produced. In fact, they have a button where you can request an estimate right on their Yelp page which makes it even more unbelievable. Would re-iterate to avoid this place like the plague since the new owners obviously did not carryover the honest work from the previous ones.

Fast! Catalytic converter stolen Saturday to Sunday overnight. Called Monday morning. Shop received…read moremy 2009 Prius Monday afternoon. Finished the work by 1pm Tuesday. Most of the shop was recently stolen CAT victims. Janice at the desk was very patient, clear, and generally pleasant over the phone walking me through next steps when I called Monday. She was more than happy to work with Geico on the claim. You just gotta call when your tow truck is loading up the car so they can make room in the shop in time to receive your vehicle. At the end, I paid my deductible out of pocket with Zelle. They have a QR code. I left with my signed, one page customer copy of the repairs and payment documentation. They quoted me $350 for this added rebar welding service as a theft deterrent. This is a separate charge from your insurance claim. A very welcoming younger man named Vincent (?) lifted up the car and walked me through the undercarriage work and the theory behind the rebar. He was honest and said nothing is a complete solution, but that in the years they have performed this service, only a handful of customer have come back with attempted theft incidents. However, in those cases, the thief only made the cuts and couldn't pull the converter out. So repairs are cheaper in the long run because it's a welding repair, not a full converter replacement. If you go through insurance that is also good news, because he said with tariffs and the war, prices are going up and it's increasingly likely your insurance will deem your car totaled just for the stolen CAT based on their rising repair costs compared to your older car's current value.

I made a call and the same repair that I was quoted as $480 at another local auto repair shop, Sebastian quoted me as about $250 dollars. And then the other repair of the right and left arms for some part of the engine that I was quoted as $1184 by the other Auto shop, Sebastian told me that it's normal wear and doesn't need to be repaired yet. Now it makes sense that the previous repair shop wanted to charge me $50 per bulb to put in when my bulbs went out on my car. So I went and got the bulbs myself at O'Reilly's and put them in myself the first time until I found out O'Reillys offers complementary bulb replacement. Between 1701 and O'Reillys, I think I may be able to survive and keep my car running. Grateful for honest affordable 1701 Auto Care! Thank you, Sebastian.
