Good shop for work quality and OEM finish. Personally I believe the communication could be better. I've had 2 of my cars worked here and was happy with the results. There were a few issues with second service but the team fixed the issue and resolved it. However I've been emailing and following up with the shop manager but he wouldn't respond to the email (I've sent 3 follow ups now -2026) and have not heard back. My car went through insurance, through out the process, I had to continue following up instead of getting any updates from the shop so that was a bit challenging. Since my insurance was taking care of all the repairs, the shop manager failed to process my requests and didn't work well with the adjuster. The last time I was at a body shop was in 1983, things have changed. Brooks specializes in Mercedes and Tesla, but I was pleased to find that they would repair my wife's 2021 Venza. The car was repaired and delivered sooner than promised. The body work and paint were perfect. Communication before, during, and at pickup was friendly, efficient, and courteous. I'm not a car 'expert' but to my eye, the repair work exceeded all expectations, more importantly, my wife's. The extra effort and care their team took arranging a rental to be dropped off and picked up at the shop saved at least an hour on each trip. Their paperwork was simple, easy to understand, and quick to complete. Every employee I spoke to or met with was completely focused on providing superb customer service. Here is the most important thing that I want to share: GEICO determined the cost to repair $3900 and sent us a check for that amount. Rhett Smith, the customer service manager at Brooks, repeatedly went to bat for us and convinced\persuaded\negotiated an increased settlement of $14,100. It was Rhett Smith's efforts as our advocate with GEICO that allowed Brooks to restore our car to new condition. I was disappointed in the customer service that I received from Percy my direct contact and the longevity in the repair. I dropped my car off on the 17th of July for a fender bender, I called on the 21st for an update and they hadn't inspected my car yet. When I dropped my car off it triggered my 30 day car rental, I lost a week with my car sitting at the shop when it was drivable and I could have kept it until they were ready. Every week I had to follow up with Percy, not him contacting me. It always was an excuse for delays or my insurance carrier but I was notified every time a request was approved and completed. Needless to say, my 30 days ran out, my insurance carrier would not extend the rental. Thankfully, I have two vehicles or I would have had to pay for an additional week and a half for a rental. I asked Percy if they had a vehicle for me drive due to the delays and he said no. When I drove up to Brooks I had a bad feeling as there was nowhere to park, there was several cars that needed repairs sitting outside. I usually do not deal with any repair or dealerships in Oakland, because I don't trust them and their customer service is horrible. I usually go to Walnut Creek or Pleasanton and I don't get the BS. Lesson learned, I don't care how many Mercedes, Bentleys, etc. you have sitting in front, always follow and listen to that voice that tells you NO. read more

When other shops were having me make appointments 1-2 weeks out just to give me an estimate, they had me come right by. They did a great job of doing a temp tape job to keep bumper in place so I could still drive to work. Once I got the car in, their communication was great while we waited for some parts from tesla. Here is my opinion about Brooks. So I went to Brooks on Monday, December 5th for an estimate. The estimator told me he would send an estimate the next day. No email the next day. I waited 4 days till Friday the 8th and called. Then they emailed me an estimate that looked like it was rapidly put together and didn't have things like the fender or headlight or fog light on it even though they were clearly damaged. The next day I sent it to my insurance agent and he sent them whatever they need to move forward. That day I got an estimate authorization from Brooks who told me the next available date was January 23. I sent that back on December 13th and asked for the next available date. Then I waited and waited. Nothin. January 20th, over a month after I sent the estimate, I sent a follow-up email. Nothing. On January 31st I sent an email to my insurance agent asking if I could switch to a competent body shop that wants my business. He must have contacted Brooks because an hour and a half later I got a call from them to schedule my appointment. now the next available appointment was February 27th. I drop my car off. I didn't hear a peep from them. No status update or estimated time of completion. March 9th I call and he says the car is almost done and should be ready the next day, a Friday, or on Monday. Great!! I also asked if they had a sublet vendor that could replace my windshield. I gave him the claim number and he said he would call me back that day. Shockingly he didn't call back. Tuesday I called and she didn't seem to know anything about the windshield but she told me the car should be done in the middle of the next week. I asked why the date changed and she said she would talk to the estimator and call me back. LOL. No call of course. On Thursday, March 16th I call and found out we are still waiting on another part that is on backorder. I get the part number and find one locally at the Fremont Tesla service center, I drive to Fremont, buy it, and drop it off Friday morning. I don't blame them for this delay, I know this was out of process and they are at the mercy of Tesla when ordering parts. On the other hand, the estimator should have known this part was damaged, it is directly behind the bumper so any time the bumper is damaged this part will also be damaged. So the part should have been ordered before after I sent the approval back on December 13th. In fact, I specifically asked about this part in my first email and was told that they can't add something to an estimate unless they can see it is damaged. But even though the headlight and foglight were clearly damaged, those weren't on the estimate. It sounds like incompetence to me, but that is just my opinion. I email them back Friday morning to confirm and ask them to update the ETA. Nothing. I call back Monday afternoon at 4:40 pm and it went to Voicemail, didn't bother leaving one. I called back on Wednesday the 22nd and was told that they are still waiting on another part. this would have been good information to know when I was picking up the first part. Again, I don't blame them for the parts availability but I would expect them to know what parts I need. This makes me think that either they are incompetent and didn't tell me all the parts they are waiting for or that they didn't even order the part until after I dropped off the first one. In any case, it really says a lot about their business. I asked for the part number for the other part they needed. The next morning I got an email saying they were able to get the part from another location and that it might be ready the next day, Friday, or early days next week. I called Monday and was told it would be ready Tuesday afternoon. I asked what the hold-up was and was told that they need to calibrate the cameras for Autopilot. I know for a fact that this isn't true, the cameras are self-calibrating using an option on the touchscreen. Then he started listing the parts that were replaced, starting with the tail light. This was strange because it was front-end damage. I guess he was looking at another car. I have dealt with no less than 3 people at Brooks and all have dropped the ball either by failing to follow up or by telling me inaccurate information. Tuesday afternoon (2:15 PM) is exactly how long my insurance will cover the rental car. What luck. I did get a call back on Monday to let me know that it would be ready at 5 pm on Monday. I picked up my car at 5 on Monday. The work quality seems to be very good. read more

Above and beyond. In an unfortunate morning rush, I overshot my driveway so my front bumper went over my brick planter, got caught, detached, and bent as I backed out. I checked the Tesla website to find an approved body shop. Of the shops that I went to- Brooks Motors stands out for their facilities and their customer service. From Jaime Padilla the estimator who talked with me to the general manager Terry Campbell who along with a very helpful technician (did not get his name) went out of their way to help reattach my bumper so I could drive my Model 3 without fear of it falling off. Don't expect to have the red carpet rolled out for you just because you're having them repair your bougie car. They do good work, they know it, and they most-likely don't need your business. Still, they DO GOOD WORK. It's a body shop, not an all inclusive spa resort. When my Model S suffered some cosmetic damage from an object that was kicked up by the car in front of me on the freeway , I knew I would only want to take it to a shop as reputable as Brooks Motor Cars. Teslas are finicky cars, and you can't skimp on the repairs or trust those repairs to a shop that doesn't have multiple direct lines to acquire Tesla parts. You could end up with your Tesla sitting in the shop for months as you wait for them to source parts, and the job being subpar when it's eventually finished. My original estimate for the work (replacing the front passenger fender panel, repairing a gash to the front passenger door and repainting four panels) was roughy two weeks. That was a pleasant surprise (I've heard horror stories of people having their Tesla in the shop for months and months) so I went with them. The job ended up taking a week longer because they fell behind on repairs ahead of me, but that was no big deal to me. When I got it back, they paint looked fantastic, the car was cleaned up nicely, and they re-wrapped all of the newly replaced/repaired/painted panels. I did spot a minor paint imperfection on one of my passenger doors a few weeks after i got my car back (could also be a wrap wrinkle) so I'll see how they handle that when I get a chance to point it out. to them. read more

I Had A Very Different Experience than the Rave Reviews Posted. My Car Was Hit 3-Times in the Front, Allstate's Client Admitted Full Responsibility, However, The Shop Seems to Have Been Looking Out for the Best Interest of The Insurance Company, Not Me The Customer and Here's Why... I Noticed My Car Leaking Fluid After the Impact, but Brooks Literally Stood On Behalf of Allstate to Insist that The Leak Wasn't Accident Related, Therefore Making the Minimal Repair Possible. I Felt Powerless Once I Signed the Work Authorization to Say Anything because They Had My Car. From what Rhett Said, They Seemed to Be Struggling with My Car to Get the Bumper Off, My Engine Sounds Completely Different, Not Smooth, My Rear View Mirror isn't Working the Same and I'm Considering Legal Action. My Mercedes Benz CL550 Seems to Have Been Dealt with as if It Was A Junker, No Respect and the Guy Rhett was Not the Least Bit Kind. When He Told Me that He Wasn't Fixing the Water Pump He even Glibly said, "And That's Not A Cheap Repair, It'll Cost Over $2000" as if Them Having Diagnosed the Problem, but Not Fixing it Was Good. This rating is based on my experience of trying to get an estimate of a fender repair on my Honda. As soon as I walked in and head toward to the front desk and asked for an estimate. The lovely lady asked me what car do I have for the repair, she then replied, "WE DO HIGH END CARS, we can refer you to another body shop." Man.... They did not even want to take a look at the damage on the vehicle if they are not interested in. Well, this is how they do business. 12/29/15 The traffic from San Jose to Oakland was crazy, but it was worth it when I arrived to see my repaired car. After Arseen Auto Body ruined my car, I am now impressed on how well the paint looked this time. When I arrived it was parked right in front alongside all of the other cars they work on. It looked so good, for even a Honda it looks like it blended in with those high end cars. The front desk receptionist was quick to assist me and get Jorge out. Jorge walked around the car with me and even pointed out two extra parts they fixed for me. I was amazed, I saw that but didn't know they'd fit it for me. They fixed and repainted my door/fender/bumper exactly to match the rest of the paint. He was even telling me to stare at it and see the correct texture. I was so thrilled again to have my car back. The front desk even took care of my rental car I had next door and said they'd come by and pick it up. Overall extremely good experience and he said he hopes I don't need to come back anytime soon. They definitely took care of me and I had a much better experience. My car came out really clean and it looked clean inside as well. If you drive a BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Aston Martin, Tesla, or pretty much any car you care about, this is the ONLY place to come for body work. Brooks has repaired both of my BMWs multiple times over the years. (I'm not that careless, but I'm the guy who actually stops for pedestrians, so I get hit now and then.) It always leaves the shop as good as, if not better than, news. Are they the cheapest? Of course not. But the prices are not out of line, and the quality is top flight. I even come here when insurance won't cover it. What prompted this review was the recent work replacing the front bumper on my 2005 ZHP. It turns out that it had been repaired improperly by a previous owner (a wood screw - really). While it was disappointing that the cost of the part went up between the estimate in May and the repair in August, when I picked up the car I couldn't believe how close to new it looked. It wasn't until I got it home that I realized they had also put touch-up paint on all the chips years of debris had left on the front of the hood. And at no extra charge.
