Well... this was rough. First AYCE sushi where I haven't left stuffed. It's only $20/person so I can't be mad about it but it's just genuinely not good. The food is of the lowest quality and mostly has very little taste, rice is very low quality. None of the sushi or rolls are gross, or seemed unsafe to eat it just wasn't good. The workers generally looked very depressed other than one guy who was really nice and positive. It was set up well and wasn't dirty but also not that nice. This was a pleasant lunch of eating a lot of suchi, some gyoza and a stir fry. The sushi is displayed on a conveyor belt and you just grab the plates and eat. Keep going and there's no counting. This is truly "all you can eat" and they did not seem to mind that I was here for an hour. Some hot items are available on the iPad to order. I had the gyoza and a plate of shrimp stir fry. Both were good but it would be nice if the tails were removed. Otherwise, tasty. The sushi was good including some nigiri rolls. All of the fish I ate was tasty including the cooked "Volcano roll" that was fried. I would recommend skipping the Richmond and Crazy Monkey rolls - too sweet or too much going on. Swung by to finally try Rockin Rolls. You pay at the front and it is all you can eat. There is a sauce bar with tons of options. Once seated you can select a couple of options for hibachi or other appetizers. The sushi goes around on a conveyer belt and you select what you want to eat. You slide a little door and grab a plate. This was a cool place to experience. There is free parking on the side of the Mexican restaurant. It's set up like a Chinese restaurant. There are tables near the covered covayer belt so you can get the sushi. It's all you can eat sushi which was cool. You can also order meals off of the iPad which was ok. The hibachi sauce is very tasty! There was a cheesecake and a chocolate mousse cake for dessert. The cheesecake wasn't my favorite. The cheese wasn't sweet and it was a little too prevalent for my taste. The topping on the mousse was good, but the cake was a little cardboard-y. Speed of Service: 6/10 There were 2 different sections of booths. The side that I wasn't sitting on seemed to have food rolling out faster for about 10-15 minutes but they eventually caught up. Also, it took about 30-40 minutes for my order of steak hibachi and shrimp tempura to come to the table. There was a lot of people when I came, so it may be a shorter wait time if there are less people. Parking is available in the front and adjacent streets. Overall, it's a good cheap eat. This was the first time I've come back since covid ended. During covid they adapted and you ordered all the sushi off the iPad and it was brought to your table. They have returned to the conveyor belt which in my opinion was disappointing. The sushi that was supposed to be hot was cold, since it's been on the belt. The edamame was cold as well. We were there after the lunch rush (if there ever was one) maybe three other tables in the whole place. You pay at the counter, everything is self service. The sushi itself was fine, a LOT of rice, not quite enough filling, okay variety and decent amounts, never had to wait for a piece we wanted. The fact that the AYCE price included the fresh ordered from the kitchen items, like teriyaki/hibachi, dumplings, crab Rangoon and fried rice, make it worth a stop. My pregnant friend got the chicken teriyaki and said it was quite tasty and veggies were cooked properly. The fried items were nothing to write home about, but not terrible. Now, this COULD be completely unrelated, as I felt fine the rest of the day, but the next day I was dealing with some very unusual nausea spells. My family used to love this place. The novelty of the conveyer belt sushi, which was good. We would come here relatively frequently. However, this most recent time, last night, will be our last. The portions of hibachi were very small and uneven. I got a bunch of overcooked shrimp and few veggies. My husband got a bunch of veggies drowning in hibachi sauce, but few shrimp. The tempura shrimp were not crunchy, nor were the tempura veggies. Soggy tempura is not it! We were seated at the last table before the belt gets refilled so the belt was empty for the items we wanted. There was an incredibly strong bleach smell as well, to the point of being unpleasant because it was so strong. As much as we have loved this place over the years, we are officially over it and won't be back. I've been to conveyor belt type sushi before in other big cities and was excited to see it here in Charlotte. Variety is nice, price is fantastic, and nice to have a small selection of menu order items (included in buffet price). I agree with others that the amount of rice to other ingredients was a little high, but I also enjoyed the different items so I can't complain since I could get more of them without having to pay more. The sushi quality is buffet standard, so don't expect anything incredible. Still, the kids always have a blast with taking their own food as it comes, and I only have to scold them a few hundred times to only take what they're actually gonna eat and not to put any dishes back! They also have a tablet at each table where you can order kitchen appetizers, kids menu items, and hibachi. The hibachi steak is definitely worth getting, and you can load up on your sauces near the drink station. You can get a cup of water for free, and I just happened to get some pink lemonade because I guess I forgot to hit the water button. Oops! Anyway, I'd like to see a bigger selection on the conveyor belt, since it can get rather repetitive, but you won't leave feeling hungry by any means!
