First time here and it was a fun experience. Came for lunch to experience an all you can eat for around $29. I've never tried sushi from a conveyor belt, got food from a robot, or had a train deliver my items but it all happened today! Overall it was clean, our server Tyler was amazing, very informative and was a joy to have. I ordered strawberry fruit tea with mango poppers and was delicious. Having a boba option was nice overall. Now to the food, half the time I didn't know what I was getting and that was what made it fun. Not so fun if you have allergies though. Some of the items were mixed on the belt and there would be a few going by and then the sign would show up maybe 30 seconds later. I did order steak hibachi, jalapeno things, and some classic chicken nuggets. Grabbed a few sushi rolls from the conveyor, the ones I did have were really good. All the other items were good as well. I really enjoyed those jalapeno things. Steak hibachi was tender and seasoned well. Fruit was a hit or miss, which is typical but a nice palate cleanser. I absolutely hated the seaweed salad, it was crunchy and weird. Not my typical seaweed salad experience. The edamame was very mushy which threw me off. But we're not here for veggies or fruit it's AYCE. Now the little cake things.. whatever that tiramisu flavor looking one was so divine. I would come back just for that cake. The chocolate one was just meh. I was so preoccupied and nervous about conveyor belt sushi that I never got to order real rolls. So that's definitely on my to do list next time and If you don't eat everything they do charge for food waste! So just be particular about what you grab. Shinjuku has been open for awhile now, and I have had the chance to visit a couple more times for what were more typical experiences post-honeymoon phase. In the end, I just don't feel my original 5 holds up. The restaurant is absolutely a super cool concept, tech forward, and fun for groups and people new to the sushi scene to try some things. When it comes to the actual eating experience though, the taste just doesn't hit home for me the way it did when it opened. Every sushi roll I got was so over-coated in sauces that it's all you could taste in your bite. That's either a heavy handed chef, or a mask for flavors you might not enjoy. In my mouth unfortunately, it just makes a texture-less mess, and part of what I enjoy about sushi is the layering of textures. Not that I expect to be blown away by AYCE sushi, but I had hoped for better than what I got. More simple nigiri pieces were ok. The seared tuna wasn't seared at all really, no brown carbonization, just a little grey. That doesn't impart the desired flavor. Hibachi options were also just fine, when originally, that was a strong point here. That people who didn't absolutely love sushi would still have good option to order. There was one vegetarian roll that included strawberry, mango, avocado that was very good, but again, the amount of sweet chili sauce poured over it was overbearing. I found myself scraping it off any way I could. Finally, one very annoying thing. The items on the conveyor didn't have any labels. Not even our server knew what some of them are. It's common practice to put a little flag before a row of items goes out so people know what they are. It creates food waste, or shuts people with some kind of allergy off entirely due to not knowing what things are. All in all, the novelty of the eye candy has worn off for me, and I just don't enjoy the food as much as other options in the area, even in the AYCE sushi space. Once you pay the fixed price, you are welcome to enjoy any of the sushi that travels past on a conveyor belt or order items off the menu which are delivered by a robot. We had eight in our party which pushed the limits of comfort in the booth, but we all had fun. The hitch is that you do get charged for any leftovers, so choose carefully. The plates on the conveyor belt usually have 2 pieces each so you don't have to make a full commitment if you are unsure. The only drawbacks were that the process was a little unclear, the place feels a little dirty and rough around the edges, and the constant stimulus may be a bit much for some. This is a really good, conveyor belt sushi restaurant. It looks like a modern subway station at the entrance and they have plenty on seating, booths and single seats. I went on a Friday afternoon, with my toddler, and was sat promptly in a booth. The gentleman that waited on me was very patient, polite and explained how everything worked in its entirety. I started with a mango margarita cocktail with no ice and it was very good, extremely flavorful and you could really taste the mango. The sushi that was coming through on that conveyor belt was so fresh! A started with a spicy tuna roll because it came by first. The right amount of spicy tuna to rice ratio made perfect by the pickled ginger that my server brought to the table. I proceeded to have a perfectly fried spring roll with sweet chilli sauce, a few super star sushi roll pieces, a few shrimp avocado roll pieces, Crab Rangoon and shrimp shumai. The sushi rolls and fried spring rolls came fresh across the conveyor belt. There is no way of knowing what the chefs will add to the belt but it's a good way to try something you may not normally order. Other sushi rolls, appetizers and small plates can be ordered from the tablet provided for the table. Only a few items can be ordered at one time. This restaurant tries its best to cut back on food waste and will limit orders and charge you for any excessive sushi on the table that you can then take home with you. The crab Rangoon and shrimp shumai were both very good. My son enjoyed the chicken nuggets and French fries. There's also ramen and noodle dishes, hibachi, chicken katsu and other items on the menu so there's something for everyone. A two star review is honestly extremely generous considering our experience. Let's start with the good first. The train station ambiance is extremely cool. They have a decent sized arcade section. They had anime playing on a big screen. The tech is different and it's fun to be served by a robot and a train car. They even have one of those cool cotton candy vending machines. The hostess was kind and so were our servers. Obviously they don't check in as often cause you order on a tablet but he still came by a few times to see how we were which was great. The food itself is where the experience is lacking severely. To start it off I was served a drink with stuff floating on top. The server replaced it for me no problem but that's never a pleasant start to your meal. You order on a tablet and can only order 4 things every 5 mins which made it a really slow unenjoyable process. We went at a weird time I guess right before dinner so when we first got there nothing was on the conveyer belt except some fruit but as we left it started up so they must turn it off between lunch and dinner service time which I wish we knew ahead of time. The appetizers came out quickly but they were all cold and extremely unappetizing. The tempura was soggy and chewy instead of light and crunchy. The calamari was honestly repulsive. It tasted like it came from the freezer and was microwaved. They give sauces with some of these items and some of them tasted like straight up A1 steak sauce which was really odd and it didn't pair well. The sushi took about 30 minutes or more to come out and after the wait it was unfortunately not worth it. We tried multiple specialty rolls and were not satisfied with any of them. The presentation was nice. The fried rolls arrived cold and soggy on the outside. I got just shrimp and imitation crab because I was honestly nervous to have anything raw once we tried the apps. My rolls were fishy not in a good way like in a rotten way and I didn't eat more than one bite of each of my rolls. The flavor was lacking and there was just something really off about it. Our server brought me some spicy mayo cause I was attempting to mask the flavor but I just couldn't do it. I genuinely would have preferred to eat grocery store sushi. My partner absolutely loves sushi and I've never seen him eat so little at an AYCE place. I'm uncertain if we were charged extra but we left a decent amount of food behind which we never do at AYCE places like Neo Sushi Express or Mr. Tokyo. It is so rare I leave a negative review but we left nauseous and both have upset stomachs tonight. We drove 45 mins to try so we definitely will not be back but I do hope they make some changes to improve cause it's a cool concept. I've been here twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner, and really enjoyed it! There is a huge amount of novelty here with the ambiance, decor, and overall style and function of the restaurant. Before this, I've never had a conveyor sushi experience, and my only exposure to all-you-can-eat sushi was low quality stuff at an asian buffet. The general concept is that every person at the table pays a flat rate to be seated. Lunch is a great deal, while dinner is a bit on the expensive side (though you can certainly get your money's worth). There is a regularly changing variety of sushi passing by on the conveyor belts and you can grab what you want anytime. Importantly though, they strongly discourage waste and will charge you per-piece for any sushi remaining on the table at the end of the night (though you can take it home) - This can get accidentally expensive fast. There is also an iPad where you can order many things to be brought direct to your table, which will arrive either by a train or a cool robot that drives around the restaurant. Interaction with staff is limited to drinks and picking up used plates. What I really appreciated is that on the iPad, you can order more traditional food like a hibachi plate, which is great for people in your party who aren't crazy about sushi. For my lunch visit, it was great all around and no complaints. For the dinner visit, they were much busier so some items ordered on the iPad came with such a delay that we had forgotten about them and ordered again - So we accidentally ended up with quite a bit left over to take home at the end of the night. The sushi is average at best in terms of freshness but it's a buffet so low expectation. There are robots which bring the food to your table (similar ones at din tau Fung dumplings) and is effective. The fried udon is surprisingly good. So are the chicken wings. Everything else like The tempura, Gyoza and sushi items are meh at best. This was our first time with the revolving sushi experience. We arrived early on a Saturday night before the crowds got there. It was a pretty neat set up. Even walking in to the restaurant you felt like you were going through the bus tolls. We were seated next to the screens that had a continuous feed of being on an actual tram in Japan. Our waiter, Dylan was very nice and helpful. He explained that you paid one price and you could either order off of the menu or off of the revolving sushi belt that came by your table. The sushi that we picked out was pretty good. We are familiar with a lot of of the combinations of sushi, but we also tried a few new ones which were pretty good! Usually, when we go to a sushi restaurant, we will spend at least $100 so spending $26 a person wasn't too bad. There is a sign that does say there will be an additional charge if there is excessive sushi left over. We actually only waited about 15 minutes and were seated. They explained to us the process and how things worked, and then it was time for us to get down! Seeing the revolving sushi coming around our table was so fun! They do a very good job of labeling. What is coming your way so you don't grab something that you might not want to eat. It's pretty simple. Grab something and start eating! They also include a table tablet at your table for you to choose other items that you want such as hibachi, or specialty sushi rolls. Besides the revolving sushi belt that comes around your table, you might be greeted by a very cool robot. That will bring you entrees and sushi as well! They have so many options for everything. Appetizers we tried the crab ragoons and shumai. Both were very good. We didn't want to fill up on appetizers because we wanted to come for the main event. We tried the hibachi, both the steak and the chicken. If I had to choose, i'd the steak over the chicken. Both were very good, but I'm more of a state guy so that's probably why that would be my choice. Can't go wrong with either though. The sushi is excellent as well. If you want a more basic roll, I suggest getting the spicy crab roll. Has a nice subtle spicy kick to it that's not overpowering. My wife is excellent at picking specialty/fancy sushi rolls for us. I've been a few times to SHINJUKU Station now and it's pretty consistent. We originally went for the unique factor of the restaurant (trains and robots? How cool!) and then for the value. My daughter loves sushi and all you can eat was worth it when she was at kid prices. I was a little shocked to find out the she was an "adult" at 11 years old. The sushi is ok - not the best I've had but also not the worst - but I'm not sure it's worth the amount anymore. Our server was very attentive and helpful! And my daughter loves the vibe and all the little claw machines and, of course, the cotton candy machine. They have robots that drive around with people's orders with a cute kitty cat eyes and smile on the screen. They have a conveyor belt where you grab what you want as much as you want. Even delicious donut holes and several different cakes to choose from. It was $27 all you can eat. We had a great time at Shinjuku station. There were six of us and everyone, even the fussy eaters, were happy with the selection. You can pick things off the conveyor belt or order from the online menu and a server (or a friendly robot) comes to bring your food. We are sushi snobs but the fish and the rolls were decent, with some choices better than others. We especially liked the fatty yellowtail. I liked that the rolls on the conveyor were small so we didn't have to get too filled up on them. The hibachi meals were good, other than the fried rice which was a little too bland. They have a policy about charging you for uneaten food, which makes sense and they explain to you at the beginning. I did get something that I thought was bad and I had no intention of finishing, so I gave it to the server with no issues. We got there early, just before 5p.m. on a Saturday, but by the time we left it was packed. It is a super fun atmosphere with videos playing, subway stops on the top, and especially the little trains that bring your food. A really fun night out! read more

My first time here!! The service was amazing!! Diane was our server and you never would have known it was her first day!! She was pleasant and helpful. The space is set up like a train station. Big TVs playing anime and scenes from riding the train. Very cute! The food is good. I wish there would have been a bigger variety of sushi options on the belt but what was available was good. Their options for ordering was plentiful and was delivered quickly either by train, the rolling robot or your server. I'd go again. read more

It was SO FUN AND SO GOOD!! The setting is like a subway station and the booths were awesome. I recommend sitting in a both instead of a bar, and arriving early! (They dont take reservations). It was embarrassing to order the big back roll! Omg the food was never ending and you can order tons more for free on the iPad at each table. We have been waiting for the best time to try the restaurant since it us so popular. We came for a weekday lunch. We did not have to wait long and were seated at a booth. The server was nice and explained the process. The conveyor belt sends around different items, and you order other dishes from a tablet or the server. The lunch menu has fewer items, but it was still plenty of options. We tried several items on the belt and menu. The train that brought our sushi was neat, and the sushi was awesome. They had a good fish-to-rice ratio, which can be off at all-you-can-eat sushi places. I enjoyed the crab rangoon and udon noodles. We will definitely come back. read more

This was my first time trying this novelty conveyor belt sushi restaurant. It was good, not great and for a not so heavy eater like myself the price was not worth it. The robot and train delivery were cute but I wish the conveyor items provided more info about the selection so I opted to order from the menu. It was a slower midday Sunday so wait times were not to bad. I loved the little area with the cotton candy and figurine machines. Our waitress was in a hurry and we had to call her back to explain some things about what was and was not included with the all you can eat buffet price. The ambience was nice with a Tokyo subway theme and anime playing on a large screen. I might go back on a week day but def not a weekend. read more

Went here last night for the first time. I've been really excited to try this place out. I was trying to let it have a little bit of time to "get settled" Every time I've driven by there's been a long line out the door of people trying to try it so I was giving it a little wait. The experience is really cool! The aesthetic inside the restaurant is set up like a Japanese train station. It definitely hit the nail on the head with all of the decor and vibe. That said, I went towards the end of the night and I kind of feel like most of the sushi that was on the conveyor belt had probably been there for a while, unfortunately. One of the rolls that I tried was a little bit mushy in all the wrong ways. I definitely think that I need to come back and try again earlier in the day. Not giving up hope on them just yet!
