Really cool place for a drink on the outdoor patio...For that alone it's worth a visit on any beautiful Florida evening. Sometimes they even have live music. The food is just so-so. Nothing you won't eat...but not something you'd ever go back for. For example, I got a fish sandwich recently that just tasted bad. The fish was very "fishy" and grey and the breading just crumbled off in the first bite. Not a well made fried fish. The onion rings seemed to use the same batter, one bite and the shell of each ring just turned to crumbs (these are not the 'beer batter' type onion rings). Very unsatisfying...but the location is solid! read more

The food here was great we had dinner here our first night in town and went back for lunch the next day because we enjoyed our dinner so much. My wife had the shrimp capellini it was fresh and very flavorful. I had the stuffed flounder and grilled veggies. The next day for lunch we had the hummus and veggies. Stopped in for my first time on Christmas Day. What a pleasant surprise. There was a group of ten of us and they did their best to accommodate us with limited seating outside. Three of us sat at the bar with Whitney and she was great. Attentive, we never needed anything and friendly. For appetizers we ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp and scallops and grilled octopus and both were fantastic. For an entree I had the gyro platter and it was also perfect. Huge portion and everything came out hot. Homemade creamy Greek dressing is awesome. We even met the GM Lucky and he was so nice and made sure everyone enjoyed their visit. Will definitely eat back. Just had lunch. The place was busy but we were able to sit inside. We figured food or service would suffer but they were busy because both the food and service was great. We shared a Greek salad and gyro. The Greek was made the way I like (with potato salad) and no skimpiNg on the feta ( 2 huge slabs). The only bad thing about the gyro was the seasoning made you want to over eat! I was very impressed with the workers. As I sat there, they were all busting their butts! Not only does this place have the worst service, they also steal from you. I went there for lunch on 9/2/23. I decided to sit on their patio. All the other tables in that section were empty, so I was the only one there when I sat down (a sign said "seat yourself"). A few minutes later a couple sat at the table behind me. The waitress came, took their drink order and left. Another couple came and sat behind that first couple. The waitress came back, took their drink order as well and then left again. Then she came back and brought the drinks for the first couple, and left again. I tried to get her attention but she just ignored me. Then a 3rd couple showed up and sat at a table in front of me. A different waiter came and took their drink order and then also left. So by now I had been sitting there for 15 minutes and I was being ignored by two of their wait staff even though I was there before any of those other 3 parties. Nobody ever came to take my order, so I got up and left. I was going to go to a different restaurant but I was feeling a little lightheaded from having been out in the heat for hours and didn't want to walk around to look for another place, so I made the mistake and went inside Neptune Grill hoping I would actually get someone to bring me a drink and food. The service inside was better and the food was ok but 2 days later when I looked at my bank statement I noticed that the waiter had added an additional $2.00 to the 20% tip I had already added to my credit card receipt. I can't express how disgusted I am with this place. First to be ignored by a waitress AND waiter while everyone around me that came after me is getting their orders and then to be stolen from on top of that is unacceptable and appalling. read more

It's very unusual for me to write a negative review -- maybe we're easily pleased or maybe we're good about researching places ahead of time. However, the best thing I can say about Neptune Grill is that it's in a great location right across from the water/beach in the very interesting Gulfport business district and that our server Martin was attentive and very efficient. When I ordered the seafood platter, our server warned me that it wasn't a big serving (maybe they get complaints about this?). I had no problem with the size -- it's the quality of the food that was the issue. Each item was either dry, overcooked, burnt or tough (or all of the above). This was easily the worst dish I had during our week's vacation. The saganaki was better but it, too, was burned on the bottom. My husband was looking forward to his gyro platter but he was very disappointed with his food. read more

I come here when I am craving Hummus (home made) and pitas (warm and buttery). Part of the experience is sitting outside (under cover) by the Bay which I do enjoy, but have to endure the smokers to the left of me and smokers to the right. I can't blame the establishment, but it does seem to draw in every smoker in town that they allow smoking on the deck. The food is good and prices are right. They have entertainment (usually a solo or duo act) and do so many things right. There is indoor seating, but sitting outside by the Bay on a breezy night is what it's all about. Great place to go, but I don't stay. Quick bite and then off to get a shower and detox my lungs. Have enjoyed kabobs, Chicken Souvlaki Platter, Saganaki and excellent potato salad. read more

Portions were fair but food itself was just okay. But do not use the bathroom- horror show! Black mold, things falling apart. This is a solid place. I love their flaming cheese (oily, but excellent!) and their chicken souvlaki, but hands-down the best is their Greek burger with feta and kalamata olives. I also enjoy their Greek salad, which (thankfully) does not come with potato salad. They're dog-friendly on the patio, which has misters and shade. Late lunch here with my son on a lazy Monday. Met the owners' son who was VERY professional and attentive for your basic diner. I was in the mood for greek food and loaded up, ordering way too much. The food was generally good, but not as great as I hoped. My gyro did not have enough Taziki sauce or veggies, but it was a decent effort. I would like to see a darker Tahini based sauce added. The grape leaves were clearly hand made with love, and truly excellent, except they were covered with a creamy lemon sauce that I did not expect. I prefer my grape leaves dry or just with olive oil. The Greek salad was very competent and satisfying -- no potato salad, which to me is an unhelpful addition from Dunedin, FL. Ironically, the best item we tried were the boneless chicken wings my son ordered. They were perfectly crispy in a very nice buffalo sauce. If it had been early enough to be drinking, this could have been a party hit! I would definitely recommend Neptune Grill and would like to try more of their menu items. It is basically diner comfort food. If I could go there more frequently, I am sure I would find the menu items that satisfy me. Another round at Gulfport, FL. I had there gyros $9- quite small for the price I paid for compared to other greek locality in town. With that said, the peta was well prepared, I like it's lightness and crisp. But the portion of meat is eye catching. The owner needs to visit the other greek place by 49th and Park by Pinellas Park! My groupie had over priced burgers and other had breakfast. I don't think' I'd be back. At first glance I thought this was your average Greek gyro place. It has cheap Greek decor because it's a beach eatery I guess. We came in late and there were a couple of larger groups eating and laughing away. I took it as a great sign and sat down eagerly awaiting a menu. The waitress was very friendly and prompt and had a very nice personality. I ordered as if I was in pegasus in Detroit ( my favorite Greek place) I ordered the lamb chops but was told I couldn't order them by piece but in 3's so we ordered three orders for the four of us as an appetizer with an order of buffalo chicken strips . I also ordered a filet with veggies and baked potato. Let me tell you I was hesitant given the ambiance but said wth I want protein and veggies and this sounds good. I have to say, I was so surprised the lamb chops came out and looked unreal! I dug in and started slicing away man were they perfect! Even better than pegasus! I give them credit all the food was amazingly prepared and tasted out of this world only complaint I have is my baked potato could have been warmer it was cold this place is a must try! read more

Converting cottages to restaurants with large decks and welcoming yards strewn with fairy lights appears to be Gulfport's forte. Walking down the main drag newly painted and planted little cottages sit next to those still untouched. After seeing the dramatic differences it is difficult to understand why all across the USA neighborhoods do not follow these simple examples and lose their drabness. The restaurants are usually crowded, the servers are good enough to open Server University, but the high priced food is hit or miss. Neptune Grill is the sole restaurant not a converted house, not sweetly decorated but offering a view of the water. Our server was so good we stayed longer than usual not wanting to say good bye. Neptune is as much bar as eatery. The decor is from long ago---meaning there is none. The reasonably priced food is surprisingly good. Two of us had seafood and ate every bit agreeing it was fresh and well prepared. One had Greek food and found it average. We had passed other places where the wait time was 30 minutes. We were seated immediately at Neptune. I would come back here any old day rather than wait to sit in someone's old living room while people crowded around me waiting for my small table. When I do no matter what my order, it will follow a bowl of the rich shrimp bisque. read more

I love to really advertise a great place to my friends and family but this is the second bad experience here. We wanted to show a family member the Gulfport scene and had a great experience at all bars but here. We showed up and there was maybe 20 max there. We went to sit at a table and my brother in law went to the bar to order drinks and was told we had to wait for a waitress. We waited and no one came so we took business elsewhere. When entering this amazing place, it is filled with smiling faces and that is what I first noticed. Once I ordered the staff was super friendly, to the point of even offering extra Smiles along with the service in 2020. Outdoor patio was typical beach bar just with better food. Went for the first time last night after seeing this place so many times. They were closing at 9 and it was 8:55. Most places wouldn't seat you but we were told "no problem" and were seated in the bar area. My wife is greek and has a discerning palate, go figure. We've been to a few greek restaurants in the area and haven't been very impressed. She had the Spanakopita dinner and i had the Chicken Souvlaki platter. My wife took her first bite and raised her eye brows and nodded her head in approval. My chicken was tender and well seasoned. Each platter came with a salad with a nice piece of feta on top. And at a fair price. We finished with a really tasty authentic homemade rice pudding, which was probably made by Yia Yia that day. We will be back and can't believe it took us this long to try Neptune Grill. read more
