Over priced and underwhelmed. More of a memory in terms of quality, people need to be seen there, why I am unsure.

I've been here in the past, but something has changed and not for the better. I was with a party of eight. The service was friendly. The portions were good. None of the meals served earned a "that was great" from any of us. The Chicken Parm was acceptable as was the Lobster. The Salmon was bland, the Steak was tough. I had the Chicken Aglio e Olio and it should never have made it out of the kitchen. It was almost burned to a crisp. I'm not exaggerating. The best part of the meal were the side dishes and desserts. They were excellent. If you want an upscale yet comfortable pleasant place to have a leisurely meal with friends or family, Nero's is fine. If you want to have really good food while you do so, I have to suggest looking elsewhere. read more

Went after a dress fitting nearby for the first time . my friend hadn't been there in almost 25 years and said from what she remembered it was still as good . We were very surprised ! The food was excellent , service attentive and friendly . Menu selection was vast from full dinner to small plates . when in the area again will definitely revisit !! read more

We were at Nero's with a large party, and the service was outstanding. My salmon was nicely done, and dinner overall was a ++. Definitely would go back. A comfortable atmosphere, just what I was expecting. read more

Service was very good. Friendly server (Tina). Food arrived quickly...appetizer 5 minutes after order, main course 5 minutes after appetizer finish. Shrimp were big and tasty, but should be at $4 a piece. Had the chicken bolognese, a little dry and overcooked. My wife's Kobe meatballs tasted like sawdust cannonballs. Overall, average food experience, especially in light of the overpriced menu, and the indistinctive udecor. read more

Not sure why this place comes up as either a hit or a miss but as for the food and service it's terrible. Ate here a few times with always an issue and sevice has never been good. When my lobster was under-cooked the waiter was annoyed and set it back to be over-cooked. It's way too pricey for quality and service and they are friendlt to their regulars. Octopus appetizer is amazing! Steak cooked to perfection. Loved the Moscow Mule drink as well!

The steak was mediocre and tough for the price. Servers were great which made my experience a little better. Unfortunately, the food was a let down so I probably will not be back. read more

Old standard. Solid and reliable. Seafood and steaks always good and some salads that can serve as a meal.

Went to Nero's last weekend with friends. It was so disappointing. The steak was over done and very tough. My friend sent hers back and even the replacement fillet was so tough that she couldn't chew it. I wrote them to complain and never even got a reply back. Guess they just don't care. We used to go to Nero's frequently, but it has went cheap with the portion size. I ordered a salad with shrimp - $17 later. It literally had one decent size shrimp cut in half. ONE half was in my salad. I asked the server (which BTW service was WAY slow) and she said- well they are a good size shrimp...." shrimp can mean singular or plural, right?" she said with a big smile... WTH... My spouse had the short ribs, which were overdone. We will not be coming back. Quality has gone downhill. read more

Nero's grille is a very mixed feeling place for me. The food is good, and service is usually good. However, it's nothing to go crazy about. My favorite part is the night time atmosphere.Something about it appeals to me. However, it's a bit overpriced in my mind. If you want to have a pretty good dinner, with a calm and relaxing atmosohere then go to Nero's. read more

Old school with good, yet pricey food. However, STAY AWAY if you are looking to enjoy a few cocktails. We finally realized during a recent visit with friends that we always spend a ton of money there on drinks but leave completely sober. Our ubers were not even necessary! Just one of the those places that it seems the management makes the bartenders pour very weak cocktails but is happy to charge premium prices. I was here a few years ago for my birthday and it was honestly the worst place I've ever been to. We had the worst table in this little corner. I had ordered a salad and the dressing was like a broth that drowned all the leaves. The shrimp was overcooked and overly salty. My parents had to request several times for their drinks to be refilled. I don't remember much more than that except that after that meal, I never wanted to go back again. read more

If you like outdated menus at exorbitant prices, then by all means run to Nero's. The only thing older and less up to date than the food is the clientele. But what's worst of all is the outrageous prices for this 1960's fare. They still pack em in, but why? What in the world do they think they have here that's worth this money? If you love prime rib prefaced by melba toast, this is your place. But really, there are a thousand places you enjoy more and get a better value at. read more

I hosted a large party here and a smaller party as well as dinned a couple of times. Every time the food was great and service was excellent. My most recent visit was a retirement party of 15, the food was great, but the waitress really brought the party alive and did a wonderful job. Can't wait to go back here. read more

Horrendous experience!!!! Made a reservation well in advance and 45 minutes later it was still not honored. I specifically noted that we were dining with someone elderly and they didn't seem to care. (Also note, I am very pregnant myself). We ended up leaving close to 8 to go somewhere else (7:15 reservation). I think it was horrible customer service and being relatively new to town an awful experience for what is suppose to a great town spot. I won't be going back or recommending. read more

Nero's serves adequate food at high prices. Not exactly a winning combo. I find the place a bit dark and "clubby. Honestly, I don't get why it's such a hot spot. But maybe it's just me. I'm not rushing back and I live mere blocks away. read more

This is a great restaurant! The food was really good and the waiters were super friendly. I got steak, and it tasted amazing! When we were ordering, the waiters were nice and friendly because we needed a lot of time to order. I ate my steak, it tasted really good, but it was a little hard to chew. There was just A LITTLE BIT of fat on it, but it still tasted good (you know, the part that wasn't the fat). I would recommend this restaurant because overall, it was a great experience! read more

A bit expensive but I don't where else you can order a massive steak. I had my graduation dinner here. The meat was very well cooked and I'd recommend this place to anyone who loves steak. read more

We held a special occasion luncheon here for 48 people and found the room, the service and the food to be very good, especially the filet mignon and the fillet of sole francese. The staff helpful and friendly during the planning stages and during the party. Anyone looking for a good place to hold an event should come here. We will be back. read more

We were first time diners and I must say what a truly dreadful experience. There is dust hanging from the ceiling of the cluttered bar. It smelled sour and after getting a glance at the filth in the bottom of the refrigerators I can assume where the smell was coming from. The server was short with us and smelled like she had an affair with a bottle of whiskey or scotch. Her shaking hands did not go unnoticed by our group her name was Carol or some form of it and from then on we knew we were in for a long night. The tall blonde manager who had half her chest and back hanging out( I hope this isn't the standard attire) stopped by one to many times and her interest seemed fake and forced. Our food took forever and when we did get bits and pieces of it most of it was ice cold and over and under cooked and none of it was note worthy. I can not understand the allure of this place it is outdated, the bathroom in the dinning room was filthy and the wait staff was appalling. Nero's has the BEST steaks around. they take their time but it is well worth it!!! Been there about 3 times and can't wait to go back. Different from the Nero's of the 70's but excellent.. all you haters, you need to get a taste!!!! read more

The food and service was absolutely exceptional. First, the staff, they make sure your table is ready as you arrive and greet you with such warmth. The 2 hostess' on Thursday night were more then generous by helping me to my table and taking my coat. All the servers were extremely pleasant and say hello as you walk through the restaurant. Being a new resident in Livingston my family was very excited to try some of the restaurants in town. I have never written a review but I feel compelled to do so. Our experience at Nero's Grille was a very disappointing one. The food and atmosphere was underwhelming at best. The hostess was young and inexperienced. Our reservation was not honored because the hostess was too busy seating the regulars. We were ignored and the staff was downright rude. The manager with the short blonde hair was only attentive to the disgusting rich and obnoxious clientele and treated us like gum stuck in the bottom of her shoe. If you aren't a loud, obnoxious person you will not feel welcome in this establishment. I do not recommend this restaurant at all. Save yourself from the so-so food and inflated prices and go somewhere else. From what I understand from other residents this place is about 15 years past its prime. Can't live on that reputation forever. read more

A bunch of racists! I happen to be African American. I've been a Livingston resident for eight years. I recently proposed to my now, beautiful fiancé and wanted to take her out for a nice dinner. I take JFK parkway every day on my way to work so I drive by Neros on my way home, which is about dinner time. I've always been amazed by the high end cars parked out front. ( I.e. Bentley's, Porsche's etc.) I believed this restaurant would be a good choice for a special dinner. I was dead wrong. I had a 7:30 reservation on a Saturday night. My fiancé and I got all dressed up and arrived early. After using the overpriced valet service, they hid my Honda Accord in the back of the lot as it does not keep up with the standards of the establishment. Our table was not ready until 8:00, despite having a reservation. We were forced to watch from the bar as several walk ins, who all happened to be white, were seated before us. When I complained to the manager, a table magically opened up. Go figure. We sat for 20 minutes before we were even brought bread and had our drink orders taken. The food was good, although it took longer than the surrounding tables to come out. When we finally received the check, they overcharged us substantially. We finally got the bill sorted out and attempted to go home, however, 3 more parties received their car from the valet before us, despite handing the gentleman the tickets after us. They were white as well. We were the elephants in the room. That place is managed like we live in pre Brown v. Board of Education America. It is obvious they still live in the Waspy "glory days". I would never go back and hope nobody ever does. read more

We attempted to celebrate my sons high school graduation at Nero's tonight. Not only we were treated like second class citizens by the hostesses, we were seated in a room with absolutely ZERO ambience. We were surrounded by 2 tables filled with the most disgusting and rude families I have ever had the displeasure to sit near. The parents were rude and loud and stood over us socializing with other rude, obnoxious patrons. They allowed their children to run around the tables barefoot and yelling with other untrained children. The parents did not discipline their broods, and quite to the opposite, encouraged their bad behavior. I discretely asked the hostess on 3 occasions to move us to another table and was told there was no available tables, despite my observations to the opposite. It was not until there were 4 families surrounding the 2 tables creating a chaotic and loud environment, bumping into our chairs that we demanded a new table. Suddenly, the hostess was able to assist. Too little too late. We paid out bill for the overpriced drinks and walked out !! I have avoided Nero's over the years because of the over priced mediocre food, but I will NEVER NEVER GO BACK TO THAT HORRIBLY RUN establishment. You can keep scraping by on your reputation and obnoxious, privileged and rude regulars. Good luck to you. read more
