BEWARE OF RACIST WORKER! One of the rudest and most ignorant sales associate that I've ever seen I hope it's not a reflection of the management here because his service was just horrible. There was a young Hispanic guy in a suit with gelled Spiked hair and glasses , he took his time to make sure to shake his head in disgust at the Asian people who entered the store and mutter rude remarks under his breath. The other 3 people working there were very accommodating and saw the way this guy behaved but I believe his name was John? Complete jerk and just someone who shouldn't be in the service industry especially at an establishment like this. This review is for the service at this location. I have been a customer of this location for several years and am always taken aback by the arrogance of many of the staff who work at the cashiers-quite elitist, as echoed in some of these yelp reviews, and rude when asked questions. When I asked if they offered discounts on purchasing in large quantities of sleeves, it was only then that the person acknowledged that I could have a free sleeve. When I ask whether certain flavors have a high level of caffeine, I have frequently received an exasperated look as if I was stupid for asking the question. So basically I would rather pay the shipping fee then have to deal with the staff, which is such a poor business model. I have several machines for work and home. I honestly think the coffee is the best around. I usually get my pods directly from the online NespressoClub, but twice a year I run low and don't reorder in time, thus creating the necessity of going to this awful store. The staff at the cafe section are wonderful. Fun, helpful, informative and make nice suggestions regarding the new offerings. If the people at the cafe ran the entire store, the place would be great, but they don't run it, and the place is far from great. I went last week to replace some pods. A colleague and I had a coffee and then I proceeded to make a purchase. I approached the "pod section" and waited politely for the man to finish his conversation with the other lady working there, so he could direct me to the other counter. I was the only person in this half of the store at the time. I went to the other counter, ordered my 10 packs at which time the lady started to ring me up. The guy then came over with another customer and told the lady to take care of him. She excused herself to help him with his purchase of 2 packs. Unfortunately he did not have an account so she then began to sign him up. I was happy to wait for this process so that the man and lady at the other counter did not have to discontinue their conversation or actually help a customer. Love the coffee, but if I run out before getting a shipment again, I will find alternatives to going to this store. read more

On the other hand, if you're in the "club" (so pretentious!), it's a fine place to recycle old pods and re-up without paying for shipping. I love, love, love our Nespresso machine! The espresso selections (16) are some of the best espresso's I've ever had. They certainly compete with the espresso's we had throughout Italy recently! Is it worth the cost? Depends on your love of espresso/cappuccino. My husband and I will be replacing our morning coffee (a Kcup machine) with an espresso drink. We tend to drink more coffee on the weekends and typically go out for our morning coffee on Saturday and Sunday. We also tend to go grab a cappuccino and dessert on one of the weekend nights. I think a lot of those purchases will be eliminated since we have the machine. Cool functions: We have the citi machine (with a detached frother). You can make a single shot, a long shot.... you can manipulate the machine and make a customized pour. The frother makes some of the best froth I've seen! We use skim milk and there are no issues with it frothing! There is also an option for steamed milk with a light froth. The best part? You can make iced beverages for those warmer days. There is a chill function on the frother. If you buy the welcome pack of espresso pods you get this great little book about espresso and a description of each pod and its flavor, strength, etc. I'm not sure if you can buy that separately. Uncool aspects: You only get 16 pods (one of each) for free. For the price ($350 for the machine and frother) it would be nice to get more! They have this fancy wooden display box that comes with 2-3 of each pod for over $50. You can just buy the box (still expensive) and buy your pods separately. But how do you know what you like? One of each is not sufficient to figure that out, especially if you have 2 plus drinkers in your home. There is a starter kit (one sleeve or 10 pods) of each flavor, two sleeves of some. That runs $110. If you buy that, the "Welcome Pack" you get the fancy box for free. Whoohoo! I think all machines should come with the sample box for the money.... but that's just me. So you really want one, but don't know if you can afford it? Do what we did. They day we went to look at the Nespresso machines, we had planned on going out to dinner, but decided not to. In Boston, easily $50-75. Then we figured out what we typically spend on coffee on the weekends. For us it was about $8. So, if we nixed dinner (let's say $60) and for $50 weekends didn't purchase coffee out, our machine would be paid for. ($350 machine, plus $110 welcome pack). So, make a commitment to trim other spending (which may just be your coffee purchases) and the machine becomes affordable. Pod Price: $0.55/0.62 Not too shabby for some seriously excellent espresso! Isn't the Boutique snobby? Sure is! Do we care? Nope. As long as the coffee is good and a reasonable price I'm sold. What's the deal with the Nespresso Club? An attempt to make Nespresso appear to be for only the very cool. All the "Club" means is 1. You have a sexy Nespresso Machine and 2. Can enter the tasting room for a free shot and chocolate square, which only really makes sense if you live/work near a Nespresso Boutique, otherwise you'd never take advantage of it. Go and buy your machine! Do it on a long weekend- you will be drinking so much espresso when you first purchase it you won't be sleeping! Then you'll want to invite everyone you know over to sample the deliciousness! read more

Nespresso is one of the must go to place whenever i come to newbury st/downton boston. I LOVE their pistachio coffee! it's AMAZINGLY GOOD! this is perhaps the only reason what i come to this place for. Unfortunately, the last time i visited this boutique they stopped serving it because someone is allergic to peanut ????!!&$@!! seriously? they should have a disclaimer stating that customers should alert the waiters that they are allergic to certain things!! This is such an unfair treatment to other customers like me who enjoys my pistachio coffee!! so, if im allergic to coffee, are they going to stop serving coffee too?? C'MON Nespresso this is not how you run business! You should be able to address this problem without sacrificing the other half of your customers who enjoy your nut-flavored coffee! read more

We just bough a Nespresso and I was excited about visiting the store and buying our firsts coffees. I wasn't sure what to buy and I mentioned that it was my first time there, but instead of receiving any advice I was supposed to remember the ones that I liked that came with the coffee machine (and I really don't!). I also would have loved to have a coffee or trying any of the ones I was getting, but no one offered any tasting even when I said that I wanted a coffee, my only option was paying $6 when I just bought 30 pods. I really like Nespresso but I'm super disappointed about the store!! I was expecting a completely different experience!! read more

Just got back from the boutique on Newbury St. I love Nespresso but the sales assoc in the Boutique are just pathetic. I think they need a lesson in customer service. Stop being pretentious and be more down to earth and personable. I asked questions and never got a straight answer. Also they just got stock in for a new Variations which I asked questions about but she never even offered to let me try it. Bad service. She also informed me that they are opening a Cafe in March of next year so the whole set up of the Boutique will be different. I hope for their sake they work on their customer service b/c I would really like to see them succeed. I was recently at the Nespresso Bar in the Bloomingdales in SF.... they are far more friendly and generous there! I may have to go back to ordering pods via phone/internet. read more

This place is amazing! I was greeted as soon as I walked in and took a look at some of the machines on the wall. I'm not someone who prepares coffee at home but wanted to check this place out. I had the banana expresso milkshake which was excellent (reminded me of the dirty banana drink they serve in the carribean minus the rum obviously). I sat at the bar and chatted with another customer and Kayla and Said, two employees. They were very friendly, knowledgeable, and seemed to handle with ease the people coming in and out that wanted various drinks. It was my first time here but I will definitely get back. I work within walking distance so will definitely be back on nice afternoons when I need a little pick me up! read more

Wow - an absolute orgy for the coffee lover. Tasting bar is great and allows you to sample various types of coffee. The staff is polite here and (unlike other reviewers have claimed) not at all arrogant or pretentious. This is a great place to buy the capsules for our Pixie and U as well as accessories. I have not been to the cafe to eat so I cannot comment on that portion. read more

Whoever had the idea of closing down the Nespresso on Newbury Street and opening up this one should seriously rethink it. The Newbury staff were extremely courteous, knowledgeable, very fast, and because they all wore black you always knew who could help you. And it was very clear where you entered the line to purchase capsules. Not so in the Boylston store. This morning I arrived at opening and it seemed that only one person could actually help you if you needed sleeves of capsules. This despite several other sales clerks who directed you to that one person. It was crowded right at 10 am and I was the first one there to return capsules for recycling and to purchase more. I was able to hand off the bag of recyclables but then had to go to the end of the line for that one sales person. Why they couldn't help me with both requests at the same time and why only one person was able to get what you needed and cash you out is beyond me. I have a Nespresso account. I've bought several nespresso machines over the years and many, many capsules. Recently I've been ordering them through Amazon because this Boylston store is so disorganized. I ended up leaving in disgust. No wonder Amazon will continue to get all of my capsule orders from now on. read more

We recently checked out Nespresso new location. The store looked really nice and the staff was very friendly. Simon walked us through different coffee machines and introduced to their new Barista milk frother. He also treated us with delicious cappuccino and helped with coffee flavor selection. When you enter Nespresso, you enter a wonderland of colors, scents, high-performance espresso machines, and soft house music. Part of the charm of this place is that everyone smiles at you: the Securitas guard at the door, the baristas, the waiters, the floor managers, the chef--everyone sends a smile your way, providing a nice contrast to the noir-on-noire attire they don. I order an Iced Caffé, a delight that consists of two scoops of vanilla Haagen-Dazs and a shot of espresso topped with a dollop of whipped cream and chocolate shavings. My barista asks if I want the espresso itself strong (which she suggests, as it balances out the hefty scoops of ice cream) or not. Nespresso is not a place you come to for low caffeine or low sugar, so I agree to the recommended mix. It does not disappoint: the coffee slowly melts the ice cream as the whipped cream gently diffuses into the jar. You get a long straw and a long spoon with which to tackle the dessert, but the fun is in letting time run its course as you slowly use the straw to take progressively easier sips. Nespresso is a hybrid store; the sales floor seamlessly follows from the window seating area and coffee bar. Imagine an Apple Store that serves coffee and sells espresso-makers instead of computers and you'll have the right image. This creates a unique and interesting ambience, to which its distinctly diverse and international crowd adds considerably. Thankfully, the boutique cafe obviously mirrors this in its hiring practices, which is a welcome and refreshing reminder that coffee, like the nearby Boston Public Garden and so many other things, is delicious no matter what one looks like. Since moving away, this is probably the place I miss most in Boston. Their pistachio iced coffee is unreal. And they don't judge at all when you order what is essentially a caffeinated milkshake at 8:30 am. Also, if they make more of your drink than will fit in the cup, they'll pour the rest into a separate glass for you. I used to work nearby and they were also gracious about letting me take a mug with me and bring it back later if I was in a rush. One girl I worked with did coffee runs for us so often that they gave her her own nespresso serving tray to have something to use to carry the drinks back. Can't wait to go back next time I visit, but in the meantime, my nepresso machine will get the job done. read more

I've had a Nespresso machine for the past 15 years... it's the BEST café EVERY time. However, the service at this address, for purchasing the capsules has lost its once stellar attentive service for those of us who have already bought our machines, basically it has taken a nose-dive. After being offered a tasting by the person whom I had purchased my capsules from, I ended up standing at the tasting bar for 15 minutes today -- only able to get service from another employee that I had made eye contact with from across the boutique, because the three others AT the tasting bar, looked at me, then turned their back to return to talking with those they had already served a café to. I get that they may be trying to make a sale, but they can stop for 5 seconds and ask what they can serve the one person standing there, it never used to be an issue, and those of us who have already purchased a machine and had to deal with the dreadful parking issue for this area, just so we can get a recycling bag (which is a definite PLUS for Nespresso in general), still deserve to be treated like those who don't even have the machine. The (paying side) Café style bar is a nice addition. Very pleasant service, too. It's strange to see such night and day service in one place. read more

Being devoted customers of Nespresso products for the past six years, I've never had a bad thing to say about the overall experience at any of their stores around the world. This however changed today after visiting the store on Newbury St. With a usual spent of roughly $150 every couple of months I was back for a refill of sleeves together with a friend and our well-behaved and quite toddler girls. As it was the time for their lunch we decided to take a seat in the empty café after doing my usual purchase with the bag very visibly dangling of my stroller. Assuming that it'd be part of Nespresso's customer service and eagerness to make every purchase an end-to-end positive experience I was astounded when one of their waiters/baristas approached me that one of us would have to order something to take a seat (which for the record is even more expensive than anything you can get at Starbucks). Baffled, I decided not pick up a discussion and ordered a coffee. While other customers walked into the store, my friend and I received many compliments on how well behaved and adorable our girls were, many of them engaging them in conversations and some even saying that they were happy to see children for once in the store as this should be what the brand represents - and to be honest who else but moms really need coffee. Long story short, the waiter we had continued being anything but customer-oriented or friendly, and neither was his colleague both of which gave us vicious looks all throughout the 15 minutes we spent sitting in the café. While I understand it seems to be their utmost desire to represent the admittedly stylish, not necessarily extraordinary café and that they - as every café - live of the consumption of their customers, I'm concerned that we've been treated like that since we've been obviously customers of the store in general - and in the end also Nespresso is only cooked with boiling water if you know what I mean. Very poor experience until finally another waiter who just started his shift was even kind enough to get the door for us. read more

Possibly the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I recently moved to this area and was very excited that the Nespresso store is nearby. I stopped by one day to purchase capsules. As I approached the counter, no one said hello and I was completely ignored by all the sales associates. There were 5-6 associates, a couple of them were busy helping customers and others not so much. After trying to make eye contact/ get help for a good 10-15 minutes, one associate, who seemed to be a host of the store, managed to get a sales associate for me. I don't know what her problem was, but I spotted her rolling her eyes and looked bothered to help. I wanted to purchase limited edition and wanted to try the new holiday flavors. I wasn't looking for any super friendly encounter or anything, but she didn't say a word as I stood there awkwardly waiting for a cup to brew. I initiated a conversation asking if she had a long day, hinting her that 'I'm not happy with your attitude'. She made an absurd excuse that she thought I was with a woman getting helped before me. Okay, so she saw me standing there for some time but didn't spot my gestures for help? And I don't know how she got the idea that I was with the woman before me, because this lady was perhaps in her 50s, white, dressed so elegantly while there's me, a 20-something-year-old Asian woman dressed in gym clothes. I mean, seriously? The whole experience was just so rude and disrespectful, I quickly made a purchase and got out of the store. I guess I will have to do what others are doing from now on- resort to Amazon to restock capsules. read more
