Blah. I bought my parents a Nespresso machine a couple of years ago and they love it. I knew going into things that one can only brew their proprietary pods in the machines, but was predisposed to be okay with this after watching a video featuring one of our professors praise the company for their friendly and informative customer service over the phone. Sadly, I didn't have that same customer experience in the boutique store. I went last weekend to pick up a few sleeves of coffee for Fathers' Day. An employee herding the line near the tasting area offered everyone in line but me a sample of coffee. When I got to the register, the associate asked if I had an account and gave me a judgy attitude when I said I didn't. The whole attitude in the store was elitist and awkward, and it made me sad. Granted, they are located at the posh end of Newbury St, but I'll take my espresso without a side of arrogance, thanks. read more

Nespresso is a great place to grab some quality caffeine and rest mid-shopping in the Newbury street area. My friend and I came because we were exhausted and needed the coffee to make it through the freedom trail walk XD Nespresso has a wide variety of coffee--a variety of light, medium, and dark roast. It's really cool because the menu lists all of the flavor break downs of the different roasts--nutty, fruity, caramel, etc. I'm not a big coffee drinker so I just chose a random medium roast hehe. It was good, though! I love the atmosphere here because it's bright, relaxing, and relatively quiet--a saw a few people with their books and laptops out. Service was great, the place itself was very neat and aesthetically appealing. A very business casual place with wifi! I'm giving this place three stars simply because I thought the drinks were a tad overpriced and not true to description. As described in my drink, there were two scoops of salted caramel ice cream in my drink- however it really tasted like just caramel. I got really excited because salted caramel truly is my favorite flavor of all time. My friend got that espresso banana milkshake, which was also good, however for a simple milkshake it was not worth $8. Maybe if I was really thirsty and really craving it, but no thanks. So I have been going to this nespresso store at the Prudential Mall in Boston since I bought my nespresso machine there 2 years ago. Recently I noticed on my receipts that they have been consistently charging me 5 cents for bags, which is the law in Boston if a bag is obtained from the store. I almost always provide my own bag when shopping, for eco reasons. I checked older receipts and discovered the same charge every time. When I recently began pointing this out to the sales clerks they just say sorry and act annoyed if I request reimbursement. I'm pointing this out only because it is such poor customer service. 5 cents isn't the issue but rather the principle. read more

Yeah, it's expensive, but the coffee is really good, isn't it? I don't know, I don't drink coffee. I tried the Boston Cream Pie and it was amazing though. Very rich--need a jug to milk to wash it down! Or coffee....They do have hot chocolate but I didn't know that and walked in with one. They didn't mind though. I remember long ago when the store had nothing but espresso machines. They looked cool, but were damn expensive. Fast forward a couple of years, and they did exactly what I was thinking they should do. They created a café in the front of the store. Now that I've had the opportunity to try a bunch of their coffees, I am planning on buying one of these machines. The coffee is absolutely delicious, and I'm not a big coffee drinker. I had the Caramel latte of the month. It was crazy expensive costing 9 dollars, but it was divine. It's usually pretty busy here. Honestly a lot of glitz and glam, like being on the set of Shahs of Sunset. But I would highly recommend you check it out at least once. It would make for an interesting tinder date. read more

I came into Nespresso's Prudential Mall location to purchase my first Vertuo machine. I already knew I was going to get either the Vertuo Next or Vertuo Plus, so the decision process wasn't too stressful. When I entered the small shop, it was almost as if I was being interrogated. However, once I mentioned that I was looking to buy a machine, the workers immediately warmed up to me. Interesting first impression. There were a variety of machines on display, but it was hard to discern what the colors would actually look like in person. I ended up going with the Vertuo Plus machine in red. This storefront also has a large array of capsules to choose from. Since I mostly order the capsules online, I didn't really look around at the coffee or in-store cafe section. Friendly reminder: They do not accept Discover credit card here. Overall, my experience at this Nespresso Boutique was solid, but it was very clear that if you didn't know what you were looking for or simply wanted to browse the store, the workers would absolutely treat you differently. read more

I have been a Nespresso client for years, I go in and out and always had good experience until today when o got "help" from Adam at the new store. I stood in the line till he called me, I moved forward and greeted him, asked for the coffee that I wanted to buy and he was not someone who can engage in conversation, so I asked him how is the location so far? He said that people are always confused as to where to stand in the line, don't know what to get etc... I told him that it was his job and the company to limit confusion by having signs, stanchions for the line, friendly employees directing traffic etc. he sounded shocked I told him so. He needs to be retrained in how to treat customers, we are not stupid, we do appreciate the help but also appreciate some respect. read more

Shopping along Newbury Street, my husband and I stumbled upon the Nespresso Boutique. I was a bit hesitant to go in because of the pretentious service we had received at our own local boutique. Maybe the doorman could sense my hesitancy because he opened the doors and happily greeted us. Upon entering the boutique I was impressed by the interior - modern and clean, and capsules galore baby!! We were kindly greeted again by a salesman who offered his assistance to answer any questions. He was very informative on the kit I needed to clean my machine, all the different capsule flavors, and asked if we wanted to sample any that we had not had before. I was curious about the 3 seasonal flavors, so Mr. Salesmen offered to make us a drink. He led us to the tasting area where he made espressos for my husband and I, along with a complimentary chocolate. I wish our local Nespresso boutique could learn from the great customer service we received at the Boston location. Thank you Nespresso Boston for a lovely visit. read more

Damn, this is how the other half (or the 1%) lives :P Decided to have a "treatyoself" day, down to the coffee I drank. Nespresso's coffee was luxurious and did not disappoint. It was so smooth and delicious. Not sure why I tortured myself, since I will have to return to the Starbucks and DDs of the world. Very pricy- and it took about 15-20 minutes to get me a drink (even though I was the only seated customer). Bonus: Beautiful patio to people-watch on Newbury street! read more

Awful customer service. We went there to get some information about the limited edition coffees they had as well as buying some standard capsules. There were maybe 3-4 staff members who were helping customers. We waited in line for our turn to be helped and the girl first asks if we know what we want and we said we wanted to try one of the limited edition coffees. I guess that was what pissed her off. She kept looking around asking what we wanted while we were still asking questions about the coffee. I normally buy my coffees online but this one time I wanted to try their new location. If you have the option of getting them online, I'd definitely do that. Otherwise, they make feel so rushed that when you get out of there you are left with disappointment and anger. read more

Consistently the worst customer experience I have encountered. I've owned a Nespresso machine for years and visit this Nespresso location every few months to purchase pods. Every single time I frequent this location, I am completely ignored and the many sales people rush to the other customers (many of whom are tourists and have no intention of buying anything, whereas I buy a large selection of pods every time). Each time I come here, I'm left waiting in the middle of the store while the many associates visibly ignore me. When I came to the store today, I asked to sample one of the holiday flavors (which I ended up buying) and the sales associate was hostile, made no eye contact, and served it to me black, not offering milk/sugar (I had to ask for some milk, which was served cold, rather than steam which is typical). They act as though I come to score free samples when every time I enter the store I'm purchasing well over $50 worth of products. I often will bring a coworker (in their target segment, by the way) who's interested in purchasing a Nespresso (i.e., a potential customer). Whenever I bring in a coworker to run my errand to buy pods with me, he or she will comment on the rude customer service; I think Nespresso has successfully turned several people OFF of their products because of the atrocious service. My coworker today actually asked me why I subjected myself to this behavior and thought it was excessive. It's gotten to the point that I'd rather order online than be treated so poorly. I don't expect over the top friendliness, but the ridiculous hostility is unwarranted. No one should walk into the store and feel worse afterwards. read more

In an empty store(the boutique, aka the retail counter) Arielle, and another were standing by one side of the counter, I made my choices, not always easy to pronounce....Arielle asked that I come to her, not sure why she could not walk over. Long story short, she was so arrogant, you would think she were the customer. I have been shopping in this store since it opened, I live local. I used to love the feeling of the store, Amazon does sell everything they do, less expensive....how sad I am that I will now order from Amazon! Oh my god Nespresso is supposed to be THE coffee boutique but I left thinking WHAT A BUNCH OF POSERS! Disappointing to say the least. I need to preface this review by saying I do enjoy the quality and craftsmanship of a Nespresso machine and feel that their frothers are absolutely incredible. We were super excited to replace the pods that had run out, and I was incredibly excited to see the store. It is, after all, referred to as the Apple of coffee stores. It's not. The major issue is that they are trying to make it a luxury experience but without the right staff it just ends up awkward. We wanted to try some varieties so (after being greeted by Person 1) we ventured to the back where we were rope blocked by a short, nervous girl (Person 2) who would not let us into the cool kid club. We weren't sure what to think because we could SEE people sampling coffees within the confines of the black velveteen rope. Apparently you have to be invited in. We weren't. We were then escorted back to the front of the store by someone else (Person 3) and handed off to Person 1 who had greeted us originally. I must have heard the words "New Member" at least three times as Person 3 explained who we were and what the hell we were doing inside the confines of The Club walls. He stood toward us and awkwardly asked what we wanted to try. Answer: All of them. But we had to play with a little wheel that would help us make our very uneducated guess about what to ask for. The rest of this scene includes us trying all the varieties we were able to call by name. I asked if there was a certain order we should have sampled them in (mild to bold, less acidic to more acidic, etc...like you do with wine). Person 1 pondered a moment and was like, "yeah, maybe there is an order. I don't know." Nepresso employees don't know? Hmm. Finally we picked the sample/starter kit that came with display box to assist us with being awkward at home later on. Me: Would you like some espresso? Friend: Sure. Me: What kind? (holding box) Friend: (blank stare) Don't even THINK about trying to customize the box of those 200 capsules you are about to purchase. It's a package and everyone knows that luxury goods can not be customized. Ever. Evvver. Person 1 sent us to the back of the store and Person 4 checked us out. We attempted to customize our box-o-espresso pods but it was simply not gonna happen. So we bought the goods, and off we went to giggle and talk smack. Later that night the Pat's lost and Tom Brady sulked off the field. Maybe we shoulda invited him over for espresso before the game. read more

Gotta love my non-yelping husband who just looked over my shoulder and saw that I was on yelp and said "You could yelp the Nespresso store. I bet you'll be the first one." And he was right! We have a Nespresso machine that we adore. It was one of the things I remember most about the first time my husband made me dinner (when we were dating). It was the first time a guy had ever made me an after dinner cappuccino in his home. I thought to myself "this guy is smooth" and then took a sip and thought "oh, and so is this espresso." We order our pods online and they come in these great, colorful little packets, about the size of a coffee creamer. They also have a great collection of saucers to serve them in and a really cool display case for the pods. Everyone that comes over always asks what it is - it looks like a sculpture. We use our machine daily for lattes (with the Aeroncino foamer) and I barely ever go to Starbuck's at all anymore. Well, we were so happy to receive a note in the mail from Nespresso inviting us to stop into their first Boston boutique. They even offered a complimentary package of espresso pods. The place is gorgeous, located near the Ritz end of Newbury St. and service was top notch. They have a display of machines that are so impressive you'll be blown away. And they have a tasting bar. THe woman working there told us that it was for "club members or future club members" which sounded funny. We just like their espresso - we didn't realize we were part of a "club". So, we sat and tasted one of their special edition Holiday flavors and ended up coming away with several boxes of it. Keep in mind, this place isn't a cafe in the sense that you walk in and order a drink. But if you're in the market for your own, easy to use, at home espresso machine, I can't recommend Nespresso enough. Don't buy into the myth that pre-packaged pods are not fresh. Trust me, these ones are. But if you still don't believe me, stop in and try one. Note: Some of the machines are crazy expensive but you can also find some in the few hundred dollar range, which is pretty good for an espresso machine. Plus, once you kick your $5 a day Starbuck's habit in favor of Nespresso, the machine will pay for itself. read more

This place is hilarious! Pretentious does not even begin to describe it. The whole feel is semi-futuristic boutique Harry Winston meets Saks cosmetic counter--only there is nothing of real value in the whole shop. A door man? A special tasting area with a velvet rope (that looks like the back room of a steampunk strip joint)? Glass cases displaying little plastic pods of coffee? Humorless euro-techno-snobby service? Yes, yes, yes, and yes!!!! They sell two things: espressso makers (+/- milk steamer) and coffee pods. Neither are terribly expensive and they are all over the web. The makers are far less expensive on Amazon. No idea how they pay the rent, but don't expect them to be there long unless Nestle (their parent company--you know the one that makes AWFUL chocolate and coffee) wants it just as a vanity thing. Oh, that aside. The equipment makes a nice cup of espresso for the price-point. read more

We just bought a new Nespresso at the Wrentham Outlets for a great deal but sadly they didn't include or offer pods at that William Sonoma or the local Macy's and didn't want to wait by mail. So we called Nespresso on Newbury and there is a voicemail that outlines hours but no one answers and it simply disconnects which is rather rude. One would expect people to answer or at least to say no one answer the phone and to call the main support line for questions. The store itself is absolutely beautiful. We asked a sales man a question and he certainly had an attitude, rather snobby and unhelpful. We didn't have any interactions with other staff members so can't speak to their abilities but the overall feel was the staff was overly snobby and we didn't even want to ask for a sample espresso since they didn't seem very approachable. To managers, I recommend some new staff, to customers I recommend visiting once for the experience and to see the machines in person. If you are buying a machine though go to Wrentham for best prices or a few streets down from Newbury, Crate and Barrel have the models for 50 bucks less than the Nespresso store. That being said, the coffee is fantastic, the store is beautiful and in the future we can simply order through the club online. read more

Besides the fact that I want a Nespresso Pixie and latte jug, I decided to try this little cafe/shop on Newbury. I thought they only sold the machines and coffee but it is a full cafe. The staff are incredibly customer focused and friendly. It feels like a very deluxe experience and we were certainly taken care of. I ordered a latte and my sweetie pie ordered a cappuccino. We also decided to get a dessert, it was a blueberry creme cake type thing, delicious. The seating is comfortable and modern. the music was amazing, very euro-modern. Take a breath, it is expensive!!! $8 dollars for a latte... Hopefully Santa will get me a machine for Christmas, until then, I will be back, $$$ in hand... read more

Stopped in here with two people. One went to pick up coffee and we sat at the coffee bar. Three people behind the bar including someone who was a manager (he was in a suit) not one person Iooked up, made any kind of eye contact or said they'd be right with us. As we say there a young man came in and sat two seats down from us. The manager immediately gave him a menu. The person who I was with said suggested we leave and we got a half hearted sorry from one of people behind the bar. If you are going to call yourself a high end coffee shop you have to provide high end service. read more

It's definitely an interesting setup. I purchased a Nespresso VertuoLine machine a few weeks ago and plowed through the sample pods that came with the machine. So it was time to go to the store (or boutique? or clubhouse? or cult meeting house?) to get some coffee sleeves. I knew what I wanted and I did my due diligence and wrote down what I wanted. Yes, the coffee is expensive. The store is practically always busy. I didn't want any pastries or any crafted drinks, so I hoofed it to the back of the store. You would have thought I was crashing a private party ... "what are you doing?" asked one of the staff. Uhhhh... I was here to purchase an insane amount of coffee. Anyway, I knew what I wanted but there was a line so I saddled up to the sampling bar where they had zero of the kind of coffee pods (Vertuoline) that I wanted to try. Sigh. Fortunately, the guy working there gave me some recommendations based on other pods based on what I liked. So we were off to a good start and that's what's saving this review from being two stars. Once I finally decided to purchase the coffee, you would have thought that I was buying a diamond ring based on the attention and detail. Last time I checked, it's coffee. I didn't understand the overly professional sales staff... but I did appreciate it. It was just overwhelming to me. Since I know what I want and I know what I like, I think I will stick to ordering the pods online. However, the coffee is good. You certainly get what you pay for. I do love my Vertuoline machine. But to deal with the weird/overly patronizing staff, I think I will take a pass. read more

I just purchase my first Nespresso machine. I was in Boston for the day and I have an hour to kill. I was planning on getting a coffee and read my book, which proved to be impossible for the bad customer service. The waiters ignore me for 25 mins. I had a to ambush the server and asked him for menu. The server was super rude and sent another waiter to take my order. At the end, my hour was spent on ordering a simple machiatto. Lastly, I put a 10.00 dollar bill to pay the 6.00 dollar coffee and leave (without doing any reading, my hour was gone). After 15 mins, I had to ask the waiter for my change! I was planning to tip 2 dollars (after such poor service), but hey! We are in downtown Boston, and I suppose that was how the white people usually tip. read more
