If you know me, you know i enjoy a good burger. Was told about Nessy Burger a while back and just had to give it a go. Its located at a roadside "shack" off Highway 76 and the 15 Freeway. The shack has recently been upgraded to include a permanent building along with the former order/ pickup windows. Food came out quickly after ordering even with a long line of customers continually coming up from the parking lot. We ordered the Original Nessy Burger and the Breakfast Burger. Added avocado to the Original. The original has a 1/2 lb. meat patty with onion, lettuce, tomato and thousand island dressing. Don't forget to ask for pickles and chilis at the window. The burger patty was dry, likely pre-cooked and kept warm for a while. The avocado helped but couldn't help the dryness. The breakfast burger was the same with two fried eggs. Was hoping the yolk of the eggs would ooze out with each bite. Sadly the eggs were cooked over hard. No ooze... :-( The fries were cooked well but lacked seasoning. They have salt, pepper and ketchup available to add as preferred next to the other condiments and soda fountain. There are about 6-8 tables out front with a few umbrellas for shade. Generally comfortable unless the heat is overwhelming. I'm sure I'll give them another try somewhere along the way. Hopefully they can cook the burgers to order next time. Keep on Yelp'n! read more

This place is always busy and I finally found out why! Great location, cute set up, quick service, and delicious food. Onion rings are bomb. I've lived a few minutes away for 4 years now, and I think I've eaten here 3 times. The food is pretty good; but when I'm this close to my house, I'm more likely to just grab something at home. Stopped in to see if Nessy had improved. No such luck. Food has gone downhill completely. The bread was hard and breaks up. The burger had zero flavor and the meat is compacted so tight is seriously a hockey puck. Thirty dollars for two burgers and a milkshake, so not worth it. Milkshake was good tho. Had the chance to swing by this legendary establishment when traveling north on the 15 freeway! To start, the location and atmosphere are fantastic. Conveniently situated off the freeway, parking was easy and the restrooms were pretty clean. On a Friday around 5pm, the stand was lively but the line wasn't overly long. Service was friendly. Reasonably priced: $25 for two Nessy burgers and a large fry. Food was cooked-to-order and came out FRESH! The highlights: - Ambiance: we loved the outdoor setting overlooking the rolling hills. Peaceful with chill local vibes. - Fries: piping hot and crispy. - The sesame seed bun, which was grilled. - Portions: huge quantities! I came back and this time I tried the burger. $10+ for just a burger, no fries nothing, BUT the meat portion of the burger is HUGE (and we all know the price of everything is going up). While we waited for our to-go order, I noticed it was very dirty outside, flies flying everywhere, landing on the soda dispenser machine and in the condiments...it was gross! Got our food and headed back to the resort we are staying at. The burgers LOOKED good but that's about it. You order your food and there's tables outside to eat but not so many I saw some people eat in their cars. I just ate here few weeks ago and it's good as I remember. The place is awful, Meat is mixed with chopped onions, so if you're allergic or don't like onions you're in for a surprise or a trip to the ER. Also this is not posted anywhere. Having once lived in the area, I used to eat here every now and then. The burger at that time, years ago was very good, something special, A great burger is not all that common, and it used to be great. So today I tried it again. It was definitely a spur of the moment thing. I had never been to the "new" location, so that dates the gap in between meal there. I ordered a Nessy burger and onion rings. As I sat in the dining area which is outdoors, I realized how dirty my first choice table was. There were bird droppings all over the place. there were so many birds, that I was reminded of and old Alfred Hitchcock movie, coincidentally called, "The Birds". They have umbrellas over the tables, which have been bombed by birds. I came back with my meal and it became hand to beak combat with the little pests, who kept jumping on the seats and table to go for my food. These birds were a distraction, a needed one as it turns out, as although the onion rings were very good, the burger was a semi warm mass of a dry and tasteless item, absolutely nothing special and not memorable in the least. The meat was tasteless, the buns were cold and tasteless, a trip to McDonalds would have been a better choice and that is not saying much. As I was finishing most of the burger so as not to completely waste my money, an employee finally came out and cleaned some tables. Although the place was pretty busy, I don't get it. Must be loyalty. Suggestions would include seasoning for the burger. The meat was very dry and chewy. I think there was cheese, but it sure didn;'t taste that way. As far as the setting goes, maybe I have become more in tune with things but sitting in an area full of birds and bird sh*t is not my idea off being very appetizing. Some places may have ideas in how to reduce the number of the pests. Maybe look into that. I may have missed it, but I was looking for the health dept. rating. I rarely do that. Finally came when there wasn't a huge line. That's around 10:15am. Just so you know, they take cash & card. Tried the Nessy burger and got jalapeño peppers on the side with large food fries and large strawberry lemonade. The burger is wumbo so if you can't eat a lot, you'll get 2 servings from this. Same for the crinkle fries. My bf also got the Nessy burger with a chocolate milk shake and Nessy sauce & pickles on the side. He devoured his food. With our whole order, the price was about $32. My bf said this is more of a backyard burger and is good. Nice, fat patties with hand cut tomatoes and lettuce. I should have taken a pic of the menu but they have breakfast burgers, chili fries, steak sandwich, & hot dogs. The burgers all come with cheese. But the strawberry lemonade is so delicious. I'd definitely go back! The staff are also friendly! If the tables right in front are too full, the tables by the store are also available to eat at...hopefully. I love this spot, I first read about it through the SD Reader "Tin Fork" column... again. They have a good amount of outdoor seating and you feel like your out in the middle of nowhere a bit. The burgers are excellent and fat! I love the nessy burger the best. Last time I came through I tried the sirloin steak which was a long sandwich and not a burger. So just be aware of that, its not a steak burger but an actual piece of steak in a long sandwich. It is quite filling too! I love that this is an independent business and not a big chain. Damn GOOD burgers! I'm not in this area very much but when I am- I HAVE to stop by for a burger. These puppies are big and juicy, best around! I asked for grilled onions and they hooked it up. I went around 130ish and there were some ppl but no line and best part, no long wait time for my order. Was done in less than 10 mins. Yay! I was hungry tooo. The fries i could do without. They are the old school crinkled ones that are nice n big but dry af. They look good at first but will give you cotton mouth type of fries. I bet they're great with their chili! This is off the 15 Freeway next to a liquor store. I've been coming here since I was little so it's super nostalgic and a good stop on the way north! Parking: There's always parking in the parking lot! Seating: There's only outdoor seating but we tend to run into issues with birds and bugs so I'd recommend eating in your car. It definitely tastes best eating asap though. Sirloin Steak Sandwich: I always get this rare, but my brother gets it medium rare. It tastes pretty similar to a carne asada torta but americanized and with steak sauce. 10/10 Fries: their Crinkle Cut fries are so fun to eat! We stopped by Nessy Burgers in Fallbrook on the way back from Ontario Airport. I wasn't sure if they were going to be open because it was only 9:30 in the morning. But they are open from 7 to 7 every day. My brother and I both got a nessy burger and we split a large fry. The fries were large enough for 4 people. I could only eat one fourth of my burger and my brother only ate half as his. They are also very generous with their condiments. They ask you if you want jalapenos, ranch dressing, 1000 island dressing, or ketchup. Each table has their own salt and pepper shaker, and napkin dispenser. Usually you have to wait in a long line, and we call in our order before we get there. But we didn't have to today since it was so early in the morning. They also serve breakfast items, which I didn't know. There's always plenty of parking. So if you're in the area, you should definitely stop buying, give them a try. read more
