Found Neva through Yelp and the customer feedback. Went online to see what services they provide and see if so could schedule an appointment. Been procrastinating on getting a facial and thankfully, their website scheduling system allowed me to schedule my appointment in the middle of the night lol The following morning from scheduling I called because I had questions that the website couldn't answer. I wanted to get a skin assessment so they can help address any problem areas. They called me right back and answered my questions, and advised me to arrive to my appointment earlier, so they could provide me an assessment. Was greeted promptly and professionally by Quinn. The location smells amazing first off! Very relaxing atmosphere, soothing colors and dim lighting sets the mood. Quinn conducted my assessment and was thorough in asking about what skincare products, brands I use and what order I use them in. She recommended a microdermabrasion and a hydrating papaya overnight mask. She started with a deep clean, then provided a wonderful face and décolletage massage, followed by exfoliation, extraction. Towards the end, a series of hydration creams, and finally she put on the papaya enzyme mask that I will wash off in the morning for added hydration and brightening. Quinn sent me home with several samples from their medical grade products to try. They sell a full line on site, based on different client needs and goals. They were kind enough to provide a Yelp discount for $15 for being a new client too. All in all had a great experience, a relaxing facial and good information on skin care! Very professional untrained staff. Environment is not relaxing. I wouldn't call it a spa except their spa prices. Quinn did my facial and was rough and quick. I almost asked her to stop two different times. She insulted my skincare routine and was judging my daily regimen. Even the towels she used were rough. Felt like she was washing a car, not doing a facial. Facial was almost $200. Far more than the pricing on their website. Beware. I was scheduling an online facial and noticed that the price for facial said $74 on Thursdays. I was planning to have facial on Thursday 7/4 so proceeded to book appointment knowing there was $15 dollar off special for July 4th. I knew I would not be able to use both specials so in comment section when booking I mentioned "Thursday or 4th of July special". I had been calling for days to speak to someone about determining which facial would be best for me and coincidentally someone called me back this morning after booking my appointment. I explained to her that I saw the Thursday special and wanted to use it instead since it was cheaper than the current $15 off special for 4th of July. The receptionist said she would confirm with her manager since she was new and unsure. The manager called me back and she was so rude. She had a matter of fact attitude and nearly implied that it was my fault for misreading the price that clearly said $74 for facial (see screenshot below). I explained to her that even my confirmation email (which I had already email to receptionist prior to manager calling me) had the price of $74 listed. The manager (who I believe is also an esthetician) cut me off saying "you can pay full price or use the $15 off". No apologies for price discrepancy, no it's an issue on our end that we're working to resolve. Her attitude was so negative that I asked her to cancel my appointment since I still had time to do so per the cancellation policy. To me it's not an issue about the price discrepancy, systems glitches happen all the time but it's how she spoke with me that made no longer interested in getting any service. And if she was speaking to me in that manner, I definitely did not want her handling my face or body. She was very snarky and rude! Every question I asked her response remained the same, "you can pay full price or use the $15 off". I remained calm and asked her to cancel my appointment. She quickly hung up and I received cancellation email seconds later. If you're looking for great customer service, this is not the place for you. I'm more of a deep tissue/shiatsu massage gal which is hard to find in Texas. They took me on time and worked on some of my upper back and trapezius muscle issues. As I've gotten older, I've tried to make it a point to take better care of my skin - not only for anti-aging purposes but for my ultimate goal of having skin as flawless as Alicia Keys or Gabrielle Union Wade. A few months ago I finally bit the bullet and made an appointment for my first facial. The process to make an appointment is simple, go to the Neva website, pick your service (they do a great job of explaining the varying facials and what they are good for), pick your time/location, use a card to reserve your appointment and you're done. I opted for the charcoal oxygenating facial as I wanted something to cleanse my skin of impurities to prevent breakouts in the future. The building is small and kind of hidden. I will say parking is tricky. It looks like you can primarily park along the street. I didn't have an issue since my appointment was first thing in the morning but I can see it getting hectic during peak hours. Upon arrival, the lady at the front desk greeted me in a friendly manner and gave me some paperwork to fill out. The paperwork is simple, first time questions (skin type, history, etc). My esthetician was Sophia. She's introduced herself and led me back to the room we'd be in. She did instruct me to take off my clothes (they give you a towel dress) and get on the table, under the covers. When she came back, she asked me what brought me in and began the process. Throughout the entire hour long facial, she explained the entire process and what each of the products she was using does/is good for. I loved every minute of this facial. After, my face felt smooth and clean. She did explain that I might have a few "purging" breakouts in the following days since the facial was bringing everything to the surface but they would clear quickly. She suggested a few other facials I may want to try given my skin type if I decided to go back. For my first time, this was a great experience. They don't offer any sort of reminder mechanism that you have an appointment. The only reminder will be an email that that you will receive 2 days prior to your appointment. That's very easy to miss or forget. Other spas have the good sense to send a text message reminder 1 hour prior to your appointment. If you miss your appointment, you will be charged anyway. This spa hasn't been engineered for busy people with busy lives. Spend your money elsewhere. read more

I've been going to another spa for the last several months but I returned as my hubby had purchased a gift certificate for me. I was quickly reminded that business has no specific reserved parking areas for clients as the street was filled on a Friday and was told I needed to move my car from the front lot as my car would be towed. I returned to the salon, I was greeted by a polite receptionist but required to fill out another client intake form that I had filled out within the last year. This delayed the start of my massage, the rationale was "we require these every 6 months since we throw them out as most people don't return." I filled the form out and my massage began. The therapist, while had a good technique had rough calloused hands. I kept tensing up during the massage at it felt like sandpaper at times, particularly when on more sensitive areas including arms and back. I also felt an occasional scratch as either nails needed clipping or the therapist callous scratched me. At the end of the massage, I asked the receptionist if there was a place to leave feedback. I explained that the massage was uncomfortable for the above reasons and she directed me to leave feedback on the website or email the owner (but didn't give me an email address to send to). I visited the website and was unable to find any spot to leave feedback or email owner, thus I am leaving my feedback here. Will be asking my hubby not to purchase from here again. Reading the great reviews, I had high expectations, however when I arrived for a facial I came across dirty sheets and towels with holes in them! Gross! And come on, I would never keep a towel in my house that had a hole in it and paying$79 for a 45 minute facial, I kind of expect to be treated with something that didn't belong in the trash. If I owned a spa I'd just apologize for cutting a service short, make up for it, and call it good. But it sure doesn't feel very nice. After you posted your negative review to my business, I noticed that many of your negative reviews on Yelp state that businesses never responded to your calls or email complaints and yet, I responded within 30 minutes of your initial email/complaint. I did this without feeling pressured to do so, because as you stated, your email was friendly and not demanding or rude. You didn't ask for anything from me, not a refund or a credit to your account. Every thurs. their signature facial is only $49, which is a great deal for what included exfoliation, mask, steam, extractions and an awesome pumpkin enzyme serum (that might not be exactly the right word). Like the Katy V. I also had Debra, but my experience was very different. First, no wait at all. Debra was fun to talk to and I really felt like she was an expert at what she did. Whenever I schedule a massage I would normally always schedule here since I knew I would be getting a good massage especially considering the price is so much lower than other establishments. This time, however, my most recent experience has been a pain in my backside to say the least, I schedule an appointment online since the office was closed but when Im constantly receiving error messages over and over again saying that the appointment could not be made due to time conflict. I receive no type of notification to confirm and I even check my bank statement and no payment had been processed. I called the office but it was out of hours and the next day I received an email saying that I was charged 50% of the original cost because of their "no call no show" policy. I call the office and explain to them that their site stated my appointment was not made and that I received no notice to confirm (which is something they had done in past). The receptionist only reiterated the canceling policy, did not acknowledge the issue with online scheduling or their neglect to contact/confirm with me and only gave me fake "im sorry but..." the entire phone call. You could hear people talking near the room and I didn't love that but it wasn't obnoxious. I brought my mom here for a massage after she fell and she was so happy and relaxed when we left. At 27 weeks pregant I was traveling for work and had severe back pain after flying for 6 hours the day before. The ladies were able to move appts around to accommodate me same-day. I was so grateful! Neva's work was good a few years back but maybe the years have taken a toll on her eyes and her temperament. I made the mistake of coming back here about a month ago for microblading. When I went to the restroom to look at my eyebrows, I could see that they didn't seem right. I went back to the microblading room about 2 minutes later to tell Neva and she curtly said it was too late because she had already put everything away. She said I would have to pay for a second session. I agreed without complaint. After my follow-up visit, my eyebrows are permanently asymmetrical because "she couldn't see it" referring to the asymmetry I was pointing out. I told her I wanted my left eyebrow to match the perfectly shaped right eyebrow and without telling me what she was going to do, she lifted the arch of the left eyebrow. I pointed out the new peak and she yelled "I just did that!" I told her that the tone she was using with me hurt my feelings and I said we should problem-solve. She stated that I was "rude and condescending" and that I needed to pay and leave. I said I had not been rude and asked if there was anyone else who could finish the job since our personalities were clashing. She said not so I said," Okay, let me turn on the recorder and let's figure out how to make this right". After I turned on the recorder, her voice calmed down and she became more reasonable. If you come to Neva, I recommend you have someone in the room with you as a witness otherwise she can easily accuse you of the very behavior she's eliciting but you will still have to pay and might possibly walk away with permanently asymmetrical eyebrows like I did. I know for a fact that I was always kind and respectful and open in my communication with Neva. She obviously gets very defensive if she receives any unfavorable feedback...but of course a person should say if they don't like how permanent ink looks on their face. read more

I was a monthly guest during my last pregnancy. They offer prenatal massage and was excited that they were close to my work, so I could go on Friday afternoons when we get out at 3:00pm. It's a very small space, but very friendly and modern. I enjoyed the atmosphere and was instantly relaxed when I went in. The only problem with how small it is, is that you hear every little thing that is happening in the entire space while you are getting a massage. Even though the receptionist talked quietly, I could hear everything she said to people on the phone and people coming in. They have concrete floors that reverberate every sound; which is not that relaxing. I would have put in hardwoods with some area rugs to absorb sound, but that's just me. The massage therapists really listened to me and paid extra attention to the places that were aching me from carrying a baby around inside 24/7. They always made me feel welcome. They give you a tiny little cup of herbal tea to help relax you before the massage and only the same size cup of water after which I thought was a little odd. It is advised that you drink at least 8 oz of water after a massage to help move out toxins that were released from your tissues. Being pregnant, I was thirsty anyway, so I learned to bring my own. I bought a deep-tissue sports massage for my husband and he said he liked it, but said he wouldn't be interested in going back. He loves massages, so I am thinking he just said it was good because I gave it to him as a gift. Since I offered to buy him another one and he refused it, I don't think he liked it very much. They have waxing service too. I had my eyebrows waxed after a massage once. The owner, Neva, was kind enough to squeeze me in unexpectedly. I told her I did not like them too thin and they ended up being way too thin and formed rather unflattering to my face. I'm VERY picky about my brows and it upset me somewhat. I wanted to get 2 things done at the same place instead of having to go all the way to the mall (to Benefit) just to get my eyebrows done. Lesson learned, stick with what works! In all, a pretty cute salon/spa. They have good deals that are emailed to me once in a while that I may use in the future. They also have cheaper massages on Wednesdays. I was referred to this place by a friend of mine that sits on the Tobin Hill community committee and how I wish my experience would have been different. I had initially called to book a same day appointment of which I was super excited for. I got a call back a few minutes later that they had made a mistake and had to cancel the appointment. Mind you, this place Neva has a "24 hour cancellation policy" where they will charge you the full service in case you miss the appointment within 24 hours. I had reluctantly rescheduled for the next next day for the only afternoon appointment they had and ended up getting there late. It was way too rushed so I decided to skip the appointment all together. I was charged $89 for the full appointment. I'm extremely disappointed in this place. Shame on them for being able to cancel on me last minute yet they cannot make a concession this one time considering it was their initial goof on the appointment. I have enjoyed coming to Neva for a while, and this review has nothing to do with the level of service that includes massages and facials, but everything to do with how their treatment of customers is when their policy is questioned. Back in March 2014 my husband bought me a gift certificate for $200 for my birthday. I had just had a new baby in February so I knew that it would have to be spent over a period of time. I was finally able to make time for an appt in August where I surrendered my printed gift certificate and received a receipt with the remaining balance left on it. Fast forward to January 2015, was finally able again to make time for another appt... Had a great 90 minute massage, where I had the same girl associate that I had services with the time before, we had great chat talking about the baby andhow it's hard to make time for yourself with a baby to use this gift certificate, which she replied "well it's a good thing they don't expire!".... Much to my surprise though when I go to pay, the receptionist tells me that my gift certificate has expired.... It expires after 6 months...When I tell her I was never told that she said it would be on my emAil receipt and gift certificate print out... So I pay in cash, go on my way a bit deflated and call my husband who looks at not only the original email from last year, but looks at the certificate we bought for my mother this past christmas and NO WHERE does it state ANYWHERE on the email, gift certificate print out or the receipt I received w/ remaining balance.... When I call back the receptionist tells me over and over that it is located on the email and certificate print out... Well it's not...when my husband called back and wanted to speak with a manager or owner the receptionist said she would talk to them and see if they would reinstate the remaining $150 balance.... NEVER HAVE HEARD ANYTHING BACK! Best massage experience in San Antonio so far - here's why: I booked the couples deep tissue massage. First, let me say that it was far less expensive than I thought it would be, The staff were so professional. We were the last customers of the day, so we were able to fill out our forms, enjoy some tea, and head right in. I appreciated not feeling rushed even though we were the last appointment on a Friday. Massage: My boyfriend and I both gave a 7.5/10. I have some pretty intense shoulder knots, and they were still there after the hour went by. The massage technique wasn't matching my body that day. However, the rest of the massage was really relaxing. Products: NEVA has some very high-end beauty products for sale; I didn't buy this time, but I probably will next. I worn after I was pregnant a few times as my schedule permits and my massages are just as great. With all of the stellar reviews NEVA has received, I almost feel bad about writing this review. Almost. Let me start off by pointing out the positives in my experience with NEVA. I originally scheduled a mico-facial on Tuesday, March 13 but called on Wednesday, March 7 requesting if I could get squeezed in any sooner than Tuesday. They had a 5:00 pm opening on Friday, March 9 so I took it. That was nice. Also, when arriving at the spa, it felt very welcoming. I'm sure this was mostly because of their awesome front desk person (whose name escapes me, so sorry). But sadly, this is where my positive experience with NEVA ends. I was so looking forward to this micro-facial. I've had facials done in the past but this was my first time getting a microdermabrasion done. I arrived to my appointment about 15 mins early, initialed off on some paperwork and then waited in the lobby in antici... pation. I was reading my twitter feed when I noticed the time on my phone read after 5:00 pm. I thought to myself, "Okay, they must be running a few mins behind. No big deal." This is when the front desk person politely apologizes for the wait and that it would be just a couple mins longer - Debra, the aesthetician I'd be seeing, was finishing up with another client. Those couple mins passed and then it was 10 mins and then 20! By this time, I was ready to cancel and walk out but I (regrettably and stupidly) had already paid for my services while I was waiting, per the front desk's suggestion. Then, Debra walks out. She acknowledges me by calling me the wrong name "Kathy" instead of "Katy". This happens a lot to me but I'm pointing this out because waiting for 45 minutes and then being called the wrong name was rather annoying. After correcting her, she doesn't apologize for the mistake but proceeds to tell me that she's getting the room ready for my facial and that it would be just a couple of mins longer. Yeah, I've heard that before. Finally, a little before 6:00 I was taken into the room. She apologized for the wait but then said it would be worth it for the micro-facial she was going to give me. To her credit, Debra did seem very knowledgable and is probably stellar at what she does, but after waiting almost an hour for my appointment, not much was going to make me feel better about this experience. To top it off, my $120 - 50 minute micro-facial was more like 40 minutes. You'd think after waiting for so long, she'd add on a few minutes, not short me. Looking back, I probably should have requested a refund and cancelled. Because of the ridiculous wait I can't give Debra's services an unbiased review otherwise. Bummer. read more

I have been going to Neva for some time now and was really disappointed this last visit. The person that did my facial did not seem like she knew was she was doing. She did the same motions over and over, on my chest and neck which was kinda of strange. In my last visits I was always informed of what was being applied to my face and this person did not say anything. However, the experience was relaxing until she started the extractions, the light in my face was extremely bright and she did not apply anything to my eyes. The extractions hurt so bad, to the point where I had to say OUCH!..all the she said was I'm doing your extractions. Terrible experience. In my past visits I've always had Sunny do my facial and was great every time. I found out she is not with Neva any longer. I will not be back to that location. read more

Okay, I'm officially a fan of Neva. After my first experience with their signature facial, I decided to give Neva another shot with their oxygenating facial. Two treatments later and now I'm obsessed. I have noticed a postiive difference in my skin - clearer, softer, brighter, and cleaner! Sany has done both facials, and she is extremely sweet and very good at what she does. I'm actually excited for my next facial, and will deff consider trying their other services. read more
