New China Cafe isn't much to look at from the outside (or inside) but the food is top notch. The main reason I've eaten here so many times is the 'bang for your buck' factor. I've only had the sweet&sour chicken but the proportions are enormous. My wife and I typically split 1 order of S&SC and we're always too stuffed to partake of the complimentary fortune cookie! It usually seems busy but we've never had to wait more than 10 min to get our food, even on weekends. Good food at great prices in Was Park too. You'll have a few meals or a family-sized dinner at the quoted price so like a pizza joint in that way. For some reason couldn't get through on the phone to order but when I walked in I could see the entire crew was swamped and working hard. I ordered the orange chicken and it was some of the best I've had in Denver, came as a huge portion and with broccoli which I was secretly hoping for! I was a little unsure to order it because it was labeled "orange flavored chicken" on their menu instead of just orange chicken but it was totally worth trying. Was a little put off by no online ordering and that I couldn't order by phone but still give them 5 stars because the food was so good and they were really nice. Updating review, simply because everytime I call to order food the phone line is a busy signal or no one answers. I've tried to call in and order food on 5 different occasions over the last year. Each time I've called multiple times through out a 10 minute period and just get a busy signal. It's 2021, you gotta get more than one line to answer, or call waiting or something. I had to come here after two of my friends raved about it as being their favorite hole in the wall take out place (emphasis on "take out", as you wouldn't want to dine in). On my first visit I got the Garlic Beef and one of my friends got the Basil Chicken. Both were very good. The garlic beef was sweet and tangy and had a good mix of veggies for crunch factor. The basil chicken was more muted in flavor (as it should be) but still delicious. On my second visit I got the Hunan Beef and an order of their hot wings. Their hunan beef is a bit sweeter than other places but ultimately also very good. So far I'm leaning towards the opinion that they may use a bit more sugar than other restaurants but it hasn't been *overboard* yet. I also may just be getting sweeter dishes. Hot and sour soup here isn't as spicy as some other places, but has the most pepper I've ever seen. Good but just be aware that you will be eating/slurping half a shaker. Free delivery within 3 miles for orders over $10. Once your order hits $20, you get 6 free cheese wontons. Incentivizing your order - I like it! Ultimately they've been consistently tasty, the prices are good (value is there), and the guys working up front have been a blast. I am picky when it comes to Chinese food and this place hit the spot. I missed the lunch hour for Mongolian Beef. It isn't offered in the combination platter, but I was allowed to substitute. It comes with fried rice (no meat), but I had heard great things about the combo fried rice (pork, chicken & shrimp), so I paid the $4 extra to upgrade. Both selections were tasty. I love onions, but I would ask for less onions in the Mongolian Beef dish next time. The crab cheese wontons and egg roll were very good also. I saw some reviews complained about the dirty delivery area, but it was pretty clean to me. I even dined in. This is some of the best Chinese Take-Out I have ever had... seriously! This little spot is super convenient for the Wash Park neighborhood folks. And very reasonably priced! Our personal favorites are the Egg Drop Soup (probably the best egg drop I have had from a take-out place ever!), Crab Cheese Wantons, Chicken LoMein and Fried Rice! I get egg drop soup and crab cheese wontons at least once a week as an easy dinner grab on my way home from work. The egg drop soup has great flavor and lots of egg, they don't skimp on the ingredients! We love the crab cheese wontons (you get 6 pieces) with the pink sweet and sour sauce - delicious! Overall their food tastes pretty fresh for being Chinese take out... is that even possible? HIGHLY RECOMMEND - if you are looking for a new Chinese take out place. I surprised my boyfriend with a visit here because he absolutely loves orange chicken but we couldn't find it on the menu at any restaurant near our house. This was about a twelve minute drive for us, but so worth it. We didn't call ahead, so drove there just looking to place an order and wait. I almost drove by, it's located behind a gas station and in the corner of the shopping center. Once I pulled in though, had no problem finding a parking spot and could instantly smell the delicious food as soon as we opened the doors. The inside is small, but suits the restaurant as I imagine most of their business is takeout. We walked up and grabbed a menu. They have a lot of options but we finally settled on a few things. We chose crab cheese wontons, pan fried potstickers, orange chicken and chicken fried rice. The lady who took our order was very kind and helpful as well as we were trying to decide between a bunch of different things. She also told us about a special they had so we were able to get the wontons for free because our order was at least $25. The wait was shorter than expected, but tortourous because the place smells SO good, especially to an empty stomach. We got our food and headed home and almost broke into the bag on the way! The wontons were delicious. The potstickers were good texture, but tasted just a little bland compared to what I'm used to - almost felt like something was missed as they were being made. The orange chicken was very good as well - lots of sauce, delicious spice and just a bit of a kick made for a great dish. It came with a side of rice as well. My chicken fried rice had a good amount of chicken, was seasoned well and cooked to perfection. There were two fortune cookies as well, those tasted as expected! I think I might have found my new go-to takeout place. I'm excited to try more things on their expansive menu and will happily drive a few extra minutes to pick it up. I'm moving across town.... so I've decided to try all the local restaurants that I never got a chance to visit. Let me out myself : I'm pretty picky (being from New York and also being a pretty darn good cook). Impressed for a few reasons : Friday night...prime time, but my food was ready by the time I got there (15 minutes top). My order ? Hot & Sour Soup, Shrimp & Lobster Sauce, Chicken Fried Rice. And I was pleasantly surprised. Reminded me of my #3 restaurant in Brooklyn (and that means A LOT). The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I'm not used to bamboo shoots or water chestnuts in my lobster sauce (but it wasn't a weird addition taste or texture wise). Now that they've passed my "it isn't New York so it won't be good" test---I'll definitely be back to try some of my other favorites. Definitely recommend this spot. read more
