Best Chinese food I've had in Scottsdale! Everything is beyond delicious and fresh. We love it here, it's our go-to.

We ordered takeout from here and overall it was pretty good. The egg rolls were on the smaller side and didn't have much meat in them. The sesame chicken was tasty but leaned a bit too sweet for our preference. I ordered the Kung Pao chicken, which had more vegetables than meat, but the chicken itself was white meat and tasted fresh. Amazing price and the food was excellent! I had the Gang Pang with rice, an egg roll, a cheese puff/wonton, and a warm wonton soup. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. First and last time coming here. We order takeout and weren't impressed. We shared kungpo shrimp and vegetable eggroll. Ordered here as closest to where we are staying. Food wasnt great and we agreed never again. We both got sick. I had belly ache and went potty issues. Hubby felt nauseous. We blamed the food but who knows ? I enjoyed the food I ordered from New China Gate, but think with some small improvements it could be a lot better. The chicken is very puffy which is different for me but I love the way they cooked the meat! The soy sauce lacked flavor and I ended up using my own, the duck sauce also wasn't my favorite that I've had. A little more seasoning/flavor would be nice. The soup that the food comes with, I didn't enjoy, but this could be a texture thing as it was a thicker broth with soft (noodles?) in it. Crisy noodle chow mein? I didn't see chow mein on their menu, she asked me if that was what I wanted and again I thought it was exactly what I wanted. There were bean sprouts which I love. The food was great and was a great bang for your buck. $13.50 for the dinner special is a great price for including the entree, white rice, a crab puff, and a spring roll. I used to come here a lot because the pricing was low and the food is cheap but decent Chinese food. Reminded me of an east coast Chinese takeout place. With this being said, they are always so slow. Much slower than they say they'll be. Today I ordered on their online ordering system for pickup and it said 15 minutes, knowing they were slow I went 30 minutes later instead and they couldn't find my order...turns out they don't check their online ordering system and they didn't even make my order. It was not until 1 hour later that it was ready. I'm so frustrated. On top of it, they're wonton soup is bland with minimal meat, they're fried rice doesn't have any fried feel it's just rice cooked in soy sauce and their platters are drenched in heavy sauces. Their portions are huge and that's a plus but I won't be returning. read more

Came here for lunch today and I'm so glad we did. The lunch combinations are everyday, which was wonderful to hear. The options for lunch are unlike many other restaurants. When I saw the volcano beef combo, I knew I had to have it. It is a spicy beef dish with vegetables, fried rice, an egg roll and a cream puff. Honestly, this place is a new favorite of mine. My boyfriend and I have been looking for a good chinese place for a while and have been disappointed by a few in our area. We came here on a whim and decided to eat in house and get a few sake bombers. Right away Lisa was so kind and friendly and helped us decide what to order. We got crab puffs which were fantastic right away along with the vegetable fried rice that was so good! We ordered way too much food as this place is family style, but the orange chicken was by far our favorite. The crispy chicken was also a great choice as well. The waitress didn't say much to me but was very enthusiastic with the college students at the next table, telling them how wonderful the food was. I didn't hear them respond. The dinner for one came with soup, one egg roll, one crab puff, one entree, and white rice. The wonton soup had two wontons and four slices of green onion in a clear broth. I don't know what was in the egg roll, but it it had the consistency of warm cream cheese. I think it was cabbage cooked to death. I made the mistake of asking for fried rice, $3 extra. White rice would have helped combat the super salty broccoli chicken. I do not recommend this place. read more

Great food and great entree sizes! We have tried other Chinese food restaurants around the area but keep coming back to New China Gate because the amount of food is so much more with lower prices and better tasting food than anywhere else we've tried. The dinner combo is great if wanting soup along with an entree. Both the wonton soup and egg drop soup are delicious. My boyfriend usually gets the orange chicken or the BBQ pork lo mein and loves both. I've tried the Mongolian beef, kung pao chicken, and moo shoo pork and all have been amazing. Definitely recommend this place for take out! It's a pretty small restaurant inside so we have never eaten there but the takeout is quick and they are always accurate with our orders. read more

Who ever answered picked the phone up and when I asked for a delivery order she said I had to use the app. Put the phone down walked away. Came back and said it again. I said I need a paper menu to have how would I put that on the order. Well she started saying you have to use the app ..... and hung up on me. For about $14 you get enough for two days worth of dinner. Ontop of that you get a small soup, one crab Rangoon and one spring roll. All that for $14 is a price you cannot beat at places like Panda Express. When I ordered online there was no option for what soup to pick, I was given Egg Drop soup which fortunately enough I like to eat but my partner doesn't. I wish we could have picked between two of the soups instead of being given whatever so we didn't have to waste 1/2 of the soups. Regardless the food was amazing and super quick to prepare. About $34 for two dinner combo plates and an order of fried wonton chips. I have leftovers to feed myself a whole second dinner. read more
