    House Lo Mein
    Terri R.

My BF wanted to grab something quick for a late lunch. We went to Mandarin Kitchen and were greeted warmly by the woman working. It's a nicely decorated and inviting place and we commented that we would have enjoyed dining in because of the aesthetic vibes. We were in a hurry so just ordered a House Lo Mein to go. We love these noodles! The Lo Mein had so much flavor and a good portion size as well. It was really packed in the take out container. We kept commenting how we wished we had this place back home. Definitely recommend!

Small dining room, nice and clean. Compact menu compared to most Chinese restaurants, but I'd rather they do a few things well (they do) than do lots of things poorly. The staff is exceptionally friendly. Our waitress must've spent 15 minutes talking to us! Portions are large and exceptionally well executed. I had the beef chow fun noodles and it was absolutely perfect - flavorful, tender beef, just enough sauce, and a good number of bean sprouts which really make the dish. Two of us had the house special kung pao which they both said was excellent. One had the orange chicken which looked beautiful. 3/4 of us had enough to take home for another meal. Highly recommended - we will be back for more!

    Mongolian Beef

Stopped in here after seeing a movie tonight and was super impressed. The Mongolian beef had a really great sauce that was slightly sweet but also spicy. The Orange chicken was crispy, sweet, and spicy and our entrees came with a big old bowl of rice. Everything was delicious! Our server was very friendly and made sure everything was good for us. The restaurant is small but they fit a good amount of tables in there. It's also super clean! Definitely check it out and get the Mongolian beef!

My friends and I ordered takeout while we were staying in Arizona. All the meals came with fried rice. I got the chicken lo mein which tasted really good. I like they have chilli oil instead of just soy sauce and duck sauce. The thank you note was so sweet. I only took a star because the fried rice wasnt the best. It didn't taste like a fresh batch at all. If that was different, it would've been a perfect meal.

My daughter wanted some egg drop soup so we came here. I typically do not like Chinese food. However this was beyond delicious. The orange chicken was by far the best I've ever had and the fried rice was outstanding. They give you a cream cheese wonton and spring roll with every lunch special. The service was quick and easy and the food came out fast.

Not sure why this place doesn't have better reviews!! Partner and I were visiting AZ for a tournament and we were craving Chinese food. Though there are very few in the Tempe/Scottsdale area, this place definitely hit the mark!!! Employees are super nice, food is amazing and the portions are huge. We ended up here 3 times within the week and a half we were here. I've had the beef broccoli, the beef with mixed vegetables and the pepper steak with onions, all 10/10 would recommend!!

Really enjoyed the lunch special of Szechaun chicken with fried rice and cream cheese wonton for $12. White meat was good as was sauce. Only improvement needed was the egg roll, which was more like a spring roll.

Ordered two dishes and both were good! The vegetables were stir fried just right, with enough crunch left! Mapo tofu sauce was flavorful and not salty! Heat was lowered per request. Small, clean dining area with beautiful landscape wallpaper and cute umbrellas above. Service was prompt and server polite.

Thank you note. What a nice touch!

My group and I traveled from California to attend an event and to celebrate my birthday. Following our meeting, we conducted a local food search on Yelp and decided to dine at Mandarin Kitchen. This establishment boasts a compact location with friendly staff who exhibit warm smiles and pleasant personalities. I have a particular fondness for Thai Milk Tea, especially when it is expertly prepared to achieve a perfect balance of sweetness. The Thai Milk Tea at Mandarin Kitchen is indeed flawlessly balanced. For lunch, I ordered the Chef's Special Kung Pao Delight and Edamame. The vegetables were crispy and cooked to perfection. The Kung Pao sauce was flavorful and not overly spicy. I am thoroughly enjoying my birthday celebration at Mandarin Kitchen.

Service was excellent, very friendly. Ambiance of food was excellent. The price is very reasonable. First night I had the Mongolia Beef was excellent. Second time I had Tofu with mushrooms outstanding. Highly recommend!

At Mandarin kitchen. First time here and hoping for a good experience. Let's find out.

I didn't get one and forgot to check to make sure they didn't charge me for it. Crab cake was very good. Lots of lump crab although I'd just call it more like a crab dish with bread flaks rather than a crab cake. Still delicious, but my vote is for g and m in Maryland for a traditional cake style with very little breading versus this for if you just want crabs. Service was very slow. It's hard with kids because you'll be there for a couple hours guaranteed. It's also pretty loud so I wouldn't recommend this spot if you have younger kids. I did have some stomach issues later that night but cannot confirm if it was from here or from lunch.

Our party arrived right on time for our reservation, but we were not seated until 15 min later because our table was not ready. It took about an additional 15 min to get tap water for the table (there was not enough provided anyways), and to place our orders too another ~20 min. The food did not arrive until 30 min later. For context, we eventually learned that the restaurant was short staffed and the bartender was also operating as our waiter. When the food finally arrived, there was a mix-up on what was delivered. We had checked with the staff who delivered one of the dishes: we ordered the "wild mushroom" side, but what we received did not look quite like it. We asked clarifying questions x2, but were assured, "no, it is the wild mushroom." Turned out, it was the mushroom empanada that was delivered to our table, which we originally did not order. The management did rectify the situation upon the conclusion of the event when we were paying the bill, but to us, it felt a bit accusatory as if we intentionally wanted to cause a huge fuss about the final total, which was absolutely not the case. The food in general was delicious. If this was a more standard dining experience, it would have been 4-5 stars just for the food. The service was very subpar, and really colored the entire experience negatively, therefore the two star review. I understand that staffing shortages happen -- fine. My family has worked in food service as wait staff for 25+ YEARS, so I am empathetic. But for management to ring up our bill and then come confront us in an inflammatory manner, making us feel like we were wrong, on an occasion to celebrate something special, was extremely disappointing.

We were seated within minutes of our reservation time, greeted promptly with water, and made to feel welcome right away. Our server was incredibly knowledgeable about the menu, answered all of our questions, and gave thoughtful recommendations based on our preferences. We started with several appetizers, including the carpaccio, Japanese milk bread, dumplings, and hamachi. Every single dish was memorable and something I'd gladly order again. The Japanese milk bread lived up to its reputation, and the hamachi was especially fresh and flavorful. For our entrees, we ordered the roasted chicken, surf and turf, and a side of Brussels sprouts. The chicken was cooked perfectly, tender, juicy, and practically cuttable with a butter knife. The steak was equally impressive, and the lobster was rich, buttery, and packed with flavor. Even the Brussels sprouts were outstanding. The ambiance was another highlight. The restaurant felt upscale and refined without being stuffy. We came to celebrate a birthday following a difficult family tragedy and were hoping for a memorable evening. While there were definitely some highlights, the overall experience didn't live up to the restaurant's reputation or price point. The truffle baked potato was outstanding, and the Love Pillow pasta was absolutely delicious. However, the steaks were a different story. The ribeye was chewy and not cooked particularly well, and the Wagyu arrived overly charred and crispy on the outside, which took away from what should have been a premium dining experience. What stood out even more was the service experience. Throughout the evening, we noticed managers and staff checking in with many surrounding tables, yet no one ever stopped by ours to ask how our meal was or whether everything was satisfactory. After spending nearly $1,000 for four people, that level of attentiveness should be standard regardless of what guests are wearing or who they are. Another disappointment was the overall atmosphere around the service station. Being seated nearby, it was hard not to notice staff repeatedly slamming and tapping order books and equipment against the countertops. It created a distracting environment that felt inconsistent with the upscale dining experience Maple & Ash promotes. There also seemed to be a lot of staff and management congregating in one area while guests went unchecked. As someone who has lived in Scottsdale my entire life, I left feeling that the food quality and hospitality have declined from what I remember. There are simply too many great steakhouse options in the area that consistently deliver both exceptional food and professional service. Would I return? Probably not. For this price point, I'd choose Steak 44, where I've always felt appreciated as a guest and know what level of service and quality to expect. This version reads as thoughtful and credible, which tends to carry more weight with both readers and management.

Our waiter was friendly, attentive, and incredibly welcoming. The food was phenomenal, and we left beyond satisfied. We have dined at many upscale steakhouses, and these were some of the best steaks we've ever had. We started with the shrimp cocktail, where you order each shrimp individually. It was worth every penny. The seafood is flown in fresh daily, and the shrimp were large, tender, and incredibly fresh. The horseradish and cocktail sauce were the perfect complement and absolutely delectable. They also offer an excellent wine list with great selections to pair with your meal. The ambiance is elegant and upscale while still feeling warm and inviting. While waiting for our entrées, they brought out a pan of buttery, flaky rolls that were impossible to resist. My daughter and I both ordered the 8 ounce filet, while my husband had the Caesar salad and meatballs. Every dish was savory, flavorful, and mouthwatering. The steaks practically melted in your mouth and were perfectly tender. The buttered corn was hands down one of the best side dishes, and the Brussel sprouts did not disappoint either. We also ordered the scalloped gouda potatoes, and the portions were generous enough for the entire table to share. The three of us even had leftovers for the next day. To top off the celebration, they had my daughter choose a complimentary birthday dessert, which was such a thoughtful and appreciated touch.
