One of the staff thought there was a note on the door stating their vacation closure. Maybe, maybe not. We'll never know and we're happy the place was still in business. We arrived early with 2 patrons finishing up their meal. We got chicken with black bean sauce, no spice. They do offer a spicy version of this dish if you so desire. Service is super fast especially when there are no other patrons. The meal was good. My slight complaint is the amount of green peppers vs chicken pieces. Decided to try again after a year+ It's really a strange restaurant. They now have tablecloths and you can get beer and wine. They only put a fork with a thin napkin. They really need more help as Service is pretty much nonexistent. The owner waited on us. He's very pleasant. I think an issue besides not having enough help whether it's in the kitchen or a servers is they're doing a very brisk takeout business along with trying to serve dine in guests. I was observing people that were lined up to take out their food and many of them were waiting 30 minutes or more. . also, there are two areas where they are serving, which is bizarre. Hao Hao's is a place we keep coming back to, even when we intend to try something new. The fried rice alone is reason enough. We have tried them all, but the Hao's Special Fried Rice is the standout. It is consistently flavorful, generously portioned, and well balanced. The fried green beans are another must order, always perfectly cooked and seasoned. One dish I order every time is the salt and pepper fried pork chop. It comes loaded with garlic and jalapeños, and I always ask for extra jalapeños for more heat. Chicken Chow Mein is another good dish filled with veggies, chicken, mushrooms over a crispy noodle and gravy. Good stuff. Salt and Pepper Pork Chops another good dish to share family style, great flavor. Black Bean Fish this dish is okay, generally love black bean sauce over anything, just didn't wow me. Chicken and Broccoli was more American style, we prefer the gai lon Chinese broccoli over the regular broccoli. Eggplant is a dish I would not normally order, something my daughter chose, was good if you are an eggplant person otherwise so many other entrees to order. Fried Rice as usual, a very good compliment to order with good results and most everyone enjoys. Fish good tasting fish with compliments in a family style setting. They brought a huge bowl of soup to the table and put the soup into individual small bowls for you at the table. Hot and sour soup is tasty. I've come here twice for lunch - the first time was a several months ago with a few friends who recommended Hao Hao and said that it was the same owner as Nee House (which I used to go to all the time but this location is closer). The first time I came, we ordered snow pea leaves, beef chow fun, salt and pepper pork chops, and seafood rice soup. Everything was delicious and very flavorful, however, I did just find the food to be a tad bit too oily particularly the snow pea leaves (and maybe the soup?) that it somewhat had deterred me from coming back for a while. I decided to give it another try though this past weekend and came by with my parents. We got similar dishes like the snow pea leaves, salt and pepper pork chops, and then we also got the fish filet in black bean sauce. I thought this time the food was much better, everything was still just as flavorful but nothing was overly oily. The snow pea leaves were very tender; pork chops were super flavorful especially with the jalapeno and garlic bits sprinkled on top; and the fish filet was also tender and tasty with the black bean sauce. We were so hungry and ended up finishing everything pretty quickly, so we will definitely be back now that it's so much closer/more convenient to try more dishes! read more

We ordered the west lake beef soup, dried scallop and crab meat fried rice, snow pea leaves, fried calamari with salt and pepper, and the Hao Hao's special fried noodle. Overall food were good. Some dishes were a bit slightly salty but not too crazy. I really like their west lake beef soup. The fried rice was also really good but some may not like the seafood fragrance. The snow pea leaves are tender and isn't tough. The calamari tasted bland since the seasoning and the onions were all well mixed/tossed. But they were okay if u get some of it and put it on top of the calamari. Lastly, the Hao Hao special noodle had beef, chicken, and shrimp. Hao Hao is new Chinese restaurant in Scottsdale. The owners sold Nee House and opened this one. Food is exactly how I remember Nee House used to be. The menu is simpler here and the restaurant is set up more of a cafe (casual) style. Great location, right off of 101 & Via De Ventura. We had triple delight and green beans today. Both delicious!! I received news from friends that a new Chinese restaurant was opening in Scottsdale and it turns out to be former owners of Nee House. I hadn't been to Nee House in years, so when I heard that a veteran chef had decided to return to the restaurant business I was ecstatic to try them out again. There is not much ambiance or Chinese decor inside yet as they recently overtook a previous restaurant. That's alright, because I mainly came here for the food and the flavors are just as delicious as I remember! We came near opening time and beat the lunch rush. We ordered a few dishes to share and they came out steadily. I ordered a plate of Shaking Filet Mignon, Fried Pork Chop with Salt Pepper, Garlic with Snow Pea Leaf, and Beef Chow Fun. They all come plated family style and the portions are abundant. I really enjoyed the Fried Pork Chops and Filet Mignon, they were tender and savory especially when served hot and fresh out the kitchen. I can't wait to try their Mandarin Pork Chops or the Dried Scallop and Crab Meat Fried Rice on my next visit. They are also conjoined with a boba shop, which would be a nice treat for dessert. Stopped by to try this place out during one lunchtime after a friend told us that the owner was also the former owner behind the fantastic food at Nee House restaurant from years ago. After looking over the menu, we decided to stick to our favorite classics, the garlic with snow pea leaf, fried salt and pepper pork chops, and the dried scallop and crab meat fried rice. The snow pea leaf and the fried salt and pepper pork chops were exactly how we remembered them. The pork was nicely done, not overcooked or soggy, with the perfect amount of seasoning to it. The dried scallop and crab meat fried rice was also good, except you can tell it was slightly different from how it originally tasted before. But not in a bad way. Overall, service was fast and friendly. Portion sizes were filling with plenty of leftovers to take home. Their prices are a bit on the higher side for certain dishes for Chinese food in the area, but it's understandable due to the location and how much quality and care you can tell they put into their food. This location used to be a poke shop or some sort of Asian fast food joint before, with minimal renovations done to the dining area since, so they don't have that many seating options as you'd expect from a regular sit down restaurant. read more

Tl;dr best Chinese food in North Scottsdale, with great hospitality, plenty of regional faves and big portions. Soft opening hours 11-8. Hot and sour soup packed with meat and pepper flavor, salt and pepper squid is the least oily I've ever had, and they even have salted fish and chicken fried rice. No longer do I have to drive all the way down to Mesa to get my more esoteric faves. And if the specialized stuff or the seafood isn't your speed, they got plenty of Americanized Chinese options like orange chicken lol. But try some of the specials like their house chicken or the salt and pepper pork chop and you'll have a good time. Came to this shopping center to get cold stone but then saw this Chinese restaurant next door and decided to give it a try first. We got sat pretty much right away but then it took about 20 minutes to get a server to greet us and then when we finally placed our orders we got told after 30 min of waiting that our food was almost ready. We waited an hour with still no food just the pot of hot tea. After finishing that I decided we should just pay for the tea and cancel our food order and leave. It was nothing more than celery, carrots and water chestnuts in a light garlic sauce with a bunch of dried old cashews on top not one thing about it tasted like cashew chicken. It was more like a cheap version of chow mein with a few cashews on top. The Vietnamese spring rolls were soggy in the middle and crunchy on the outside. The service can get a little slow when they are busy but I assure you it's worth any wait you have to endure. It took over the old pokitrition location. But do not be fooled by the decor and how modern it looks inside, it's real authentic and excellent. We moved here from CA and have never found a place for great Chinese food until we tried HAO HAO. They have excellent dishes. So far, we have visited this place 5 times in about 6 months. We have tried Kung Pao Chicken, Salt and Pepper Pork Chop, Hot Garlic Chicken, Mongolian Beef and several vegetable dishes. We have not tried any of their noodle dishes yet. I'm sure they'll be great too. The portions are large. Once seated, service comes immediately. They'll have the water and all the dinnerware on the table in no time. Also, there is not a long wait for any orders to be served. The place is clean and nicely decorated. The light fixtures and all the furnishings are tasteful. Highly recommend.
