It was a good size and worth the price. We also got a large combination lo mein which comes with shrimp, beef, and chicken. The shrimp are very small in comparison to the chicken and beef pieces so they do get lost. There is also no sauce on the lo mein so it does lack in flavor. There are also a bunch of vegetables that come in it which I thought was a bit much. I'd skip this next time. Don't get me wrong, I will definitely continue to come here! read more

Ugh. I don't like writing negative reviews. I ordered combination fried rice. The chicken and beef were dried out, could barely find or see the shrimp. It tasted as if it was days old leftovers. I specifically asked for juicy, fresh orange chicken. I received chewy, tough, old chicken. It's as though they have no pride in their food. I should have read the reviews but drove to the nearest Chinese food. I could barely eat but a few bites. I didn't want to feel ill. Waste of money. This was my experience. Iv'e been a long time customer (since they opened). Over the last year the quality of the food has declined. This evening the eggroll tasted old and stale. It wasn't even chewable. The general Tso's chicken was tough and chewy as if it was in a freezer too long. I also found two pieces of hair mix with the chicken. Their sauce used to be light and flavorful, it was too thick, gooey, and used way too much. They probably used to make it homemade and now most likely container bought. My husband and I decided to try a different local Chinese restaurant because our usual spot is closed on Sundays. The lady at the counter was super friendly and our order was ready in the time we were given over the phone. We ordered the beef chop suey lunch special and the orange chicken lunch special. Both lunch portions come with soup or a drink. We opted for the egg drop soup and enjoyed it. The beef chop suey had good flavor, however the portion of meat was small. The fried rice was lacking flavor and did not have any chicken or vegetables. It tasted like white rice with soy sauce. The orange chicken was good. It was on the sweeter side but had good flavor. The white rice was cooked just right. They give you a good amount of food and the prices are fair. We would return but wouldn't get the fried rice again. read more

It had been at least 10 years since the last time I was here. Ordered pick up on a Saturday and this place was insanely busy. I arrived in 25 minutes as quoted and then had to wait another 20 for my order. There were about 10 people waiting when I got there and their phone did not stop ringing. I was afraid that how they were running around there that food quality would suffer. I was right. The order of egg rolls were overcooked to oblivion. The other two orders were not much better. The only redeeming point is that the shrimp in the spicy garlic shrimp were fresh and numerous. This dish was not spicy at all, in fact it was bland. The egg foo young seemed to have been cooked in old oil. It had an off taste. I blame myself for being too lazy to go to my normal spot. The last time there it was also disappointing, so I thought I would give New China a shot. Maybe I'll try them again in 10 years or so. read more

My first job was at Dominick's In the same strip as New China so I've been familiar with this place from early 2000s. We used to get the Shrimp Lo Mein XX-Spicy and sit in our cars on a cold night and devour this deliciousness. I hadn't come here in at least a decade until a buddy told me that they taste just the same as it did when we were younger so I had to try it out again. Folks, it did not disappoint! I've been back several times in a month. Its the ultimate comfort food. $10.99 for a large lo mein with fresh ingredients and taste that cannot be matched! A large will easily feed three people. This is my go to Chinese restaurant. The food today was horrible! Fried shrimp were so greasy and the grease tasted old. The chicken lo mien was just fair BUT it was so greasy. We ordered the food and I was told it would be 40 minutes it's been 1 hour and forty minutes now. I called twenty min ago they said they were on the way. It's a five minute drive we are still waiting getting very annoyed. Finally received the food egg rolls were not good at all. Sweet and sour chicken was very good very fresh but the sauce it came with is very gingery so you have to like ginger. I ordered orange chicken for myself it was okay. I am surprised that this restaurant is rated so low. I ordered from them twice, orange chicken "very spicy" both times, and found it superior to other restaurants. Plus the serving size was huge for a small ($6.29). Could have easily fed two slightly hungry people. The first time I ordered from there, my friend ordered a small shrimp with assorted vegetables. There had to be 12 large shrimp in the small size for around $9. She ordered from them again and ordered the shrimp again, this time ordering a large and counted 16 shrimp this time. All in all, my experience with New China was a positive one, and will definitely be ordering from them again! read more

This place used to have decent Chinese food for years, not so much now. The last few times we ordered the food was so salty it was inedible. I called them to inform the owner that hey I've been coming for years but something is off with the last few orders. Owner insisted nothing has changed nor has anyone else complained... ok then. She offered I drive back with the food in a storm to remake. Nah, I'm good, will not be going back. She also insinuated because I took soy sauce, that we did not use, food was so salty from the container , that maybe we made it salty. Not great customer service. read more

as a vegetarian it is really hard to find good Chinese food that offers options and is accommodating to my diet and this place did that. I was a little turned off by all the mixed reviews! It seemed like people either loved this place or hated it. But I have to say, I can't find one thing to complain about! When placing my order, the employee was courteous and informative. Super thorough. Food was ready when promised. We picked everything up without an issue. Everything was neatly packaged and still warm when we got home. The food itself tasted great. No one in the party complained. Lots of people kept saying they loved the "color" in their meals. The veggies looked fresh and there was a wide variety of them in multiple entrees. Sometimes, I feel that generic Chinese food looks, well, uniformly brown. This food tasted as fresh as it looked. I give a restaurant 3 times to get my order right. Well, this is New China's third time, third strike. Yesterday, my Mom and I ordered Egg Fu Young, the Vegetable meal, and two egg rolls. The egg rolls were AWFUL! You can tell they were refried from the day before, as they were very hard to chew and almost burnt. The time before, like others have posted, I had to wait well over an hour at the restaurant to get my food. Then the first time I tried New China, I got home to find out they gave me someone else's order. BAD NEWS! My suggestion is to try Panda Express, also in Addison! They have very good food! read more

Not many Chinese joints nearby, so when I want delivery I have little to 0 options. That being said, I love that they use NO MSG in their food. Some menu choices are definitely better than others...and by 'better' I mean slightly above average. Owner is very friendly and deliveries are prompt (nice delivery guy too). It's mandarin style Chinese eats.. What I do not order: (but would have, had they been good).. Steamed dumplings. Disappointing. What I do order and find to be OK 'edibles': Combo fried rice (lighter flavor, not much meat, but you do get a good amount of rice, heehee), Chicken lo mein (tasty with good veggies, but they use spaghetti noodles & shouldn't) Crab Rangoon (also tasty but skimpy on filling), Egg roll (not bad, but like more fresh veggies and less peanut taste), Szechwan spicy shrimp (decent, not spicy enough for me but that's ok...shrimp are not your fancy jumbo kind), Moo shu chicken (pretty good - average amount of chicken, lots of thinly sliced tender cabbage, fresh mushrooms, bean sprouts & scrambled egg), Won ton soup (hits the spot on a chilly night). In a nutshell - the dishes I order are pretty okay. Meat (chicken or beef) tastes fresh & tender. Veggie's are always fresh & not overcooked. Sometimes I enjoy it more than other times. Prices are on the low end , portions are sizable. Establishment looks clean. More of a take-out & delivery place as there's no tables to eat. On the other side, you have cheap and fast holes-in-the-wall like Good Luck Chop Suey. New China strikes a wonderful balance, using no MSG and quality ingredients, but keeping things quick and cheap. I ordered Mongolian beef and actually saw the cook mixing it up in a skillet. The lunch specials run every day from 11 a.m to 3 p.m. and include your choice of fried or steamed rice, soup or drink, and fortune cookie. My entire meal cost $5.50. The fried rice was firm and not swimming in grease. The beef was tender and tasty, and the green onions were fresh and flavorful. The restaurant itself is tiny. I recommend carrout or delivery. Delivery requires a minimum order of $8 and costs $2-$2.50, depending on where you need it delivered. read more

I don't enjoy giving small business bad reviews, but when I ordered out from here I wanted Hot & Sour Soup, Hunan Beef, and eggrolls. What I got was terrible and often violent digestive issues over the next two days. The soup was standard, but when I started eating the main entree, it had a bitter taste to it.. I really think they used a cleanser on the cooking wok and didn't rinse properly. Ever accidentally taste cleanser? That's what I tasted and a few tastes at that. Threw it away, and tried the eggrolls. The wrapping was crispy, but the filling was soggy and looked like those Yu-Shan eggrolls you get at the store and plop in the micro when you're stoned or drunk and hungry (you can't be sober that's for sure). I'm a huge fan of Chinese food, but I can't be brave enough to try this place again and risk another 48 hours of misery and despair. read more
