Tasty dishes came out quickly and steaming hot. We ordered the Fish and Eggplant casserole and the Tofu with 2 Mushrooms. Both came with white rice. The waitress seemed disappointed that we didn't order appetizers or smoothies, but we promised to do so next time. There will be a next time! Dining room was clean, spacious and not crowded at all.

First time here, will definitely return. Massive, massive food and drink menu. Super friendly and attentive service. Clean, bright space. We had the pork bun appetizer and the Peking Duck. Everything was fantastic and there was quite a bit left over.

I've passed by this spot a few times while working in downtown Elmhurst and finally stopped in when I couldn't find parking near my usual lunch place. This spot had plenty, so I gave it a shot. I've ordered three times now. The Green Curry (both dinner and lunch portions) is delicious definitely a favorite. Lunch portions are perfect and come with an egg roll and soup, but I didn't like either soup option. I asked to switch soups, even with an upcharge, but was told no, which was a bit disappointing. On my third visit, I tried the Shrimp Tom Yum Noodle Soup unfortunately, it was just okay and didn't have the flavor I expected.

Since this has been opened, this has been my to go to Asian restaurant mostly on the way to my brother's house for me to pick up dinner. We also order from here for our annual family dinner on Christmas Day. They have their own private parking space in the front and in the back of their restaurant. When you walk in, there is a bench for waiting takeout as well as an extensive menu of different Boba shake, and smoothies to order. It's a very spacious place very bright and clean they have TV screens that show international stations. They have a smoothie bar as well to sit if you want to drink or eat. They have both paper menu or a tablet that you would select the dishes you want to order without waiting for the weight staff to take your order. They have a nice extensive menu. They no longer offer coupons of food when you spend a certain amount of money. But nonetheless, they have been improving on dishes that I'm familiar with at a chain Chinese Vietnamese restaurant called Joy yee. They also have a good size menu of Boba drinks shakes or smoothies. This is what we typically order and would continue ordering. Shrimp tempura appetizer- good to snack on but we asked for regular sweet-and-sour sauce packets because the side sweet-and-sour sauce is spicy. -Wonton soup To go is good here they separate the wontons and the seasonings from the broth you put it together when you arrive to your destination, so your wonton won't get soggy. -Crab Rangoon good also, if you don't like hot sweet-and-sour sauce, ask for the regular sweet and sour sauce packets. -Beef cube over tomato rice. This is my husband's favorite. He likes it's sweet and also he asked for a side of sunny side up fried egg. -Korean barbecue ribs always a good one. The beef is sweet and soft. Sometimes you get large bone tips others are medium to small bones. -Garlic shrimp soft noodles, one of our favorites. Also, my nephew and niece loves them. -Cauliflower and broccoli vegetable comes in a white sauce flavorful to get your vegetables Snow pea leaves, sautéed and garlic sauce we like this they only have it if it's available. -Chinese broccoli with oyster sauce and or garlic sauce both are good flavored vegetable side dish. -Szechuan Japanese eggplant dish. It's OK a little bit greasy because it's fried and salty because of the sauce. -shrimp and fried tofu vegetables it was OK but the shrimp and the tofu was tough of texture. -shrimp and lobster sauce is a white sauce that was OK. -lemongrass fried chicken wings is OK it's naked fried. -chicken fried rice pretty good size for an order tasty. -Bulgogi Korean shredded beef on top of white rice is a pretty good dish. -kimchi on the side is good a bit spicy. -salt and pepper fried pork i've ordered this a couple of times sometimes it's greasy other times it's pretty good crispy -Japchae Korean noodles we're good and all the different meats. We were happy with especially the beef. -steam 1/2 shredded chicken with ginger and greens onion really good not greasy and no soy sauce would get again. -honey walnut fried shrimp with steam broccoli dish is good. -Salt and pepper smelt can be sometimes spicy. The smelt is sometimes crunchy depending how they're cooking them that day. -teriyaki chicken dish is pretty tasty. I would get this again. -Hot and sour soup is your typical soup but this place is pretty hardy with all the fixings. -chicken pad Thai lunch is a good dish, sweet and plenty of noodles. -Beef chow fun was OK not your typical Chinatown style though. -Mongolian beef is OK but they put vegetables with it. Not your typical Chinatown style. -beans sautéed with beef is a good dish a little bit salty. -fresh spring rolls with shrimp and a side of hoisin peanut sauce appetizer was pretty good -softshell crab deep-fried appetizer is pretty good if you like that dish -Japanese fried tofu with assorted mushroom dish is pretty good would get that again. -they also sell different kinds of pho noodle soups here haven't tried them yet. Drinks -avocado smoothie with tapioca is good, sometimes we would ask for avocado smoothie no tapioca but too smaller cups for the kids. It's an additional $.50. -coconut taro smoothie with tapioca -watermelon smoothie with bursting strawberry flavored pearls -Thai iced tea smoothie with tapioca was pretty good There's more on the menu I would like to try. We typically try one new dish add onto our typical order if we like it or not. Overall, it's a good restaurant to try if you're in the area. They also have a good lunch special as well. And sometimes they have special dishes going on that is off the menu. You would see it near the Boba menu at the entrance of the door. They also serve live lobster and fish as well as pecking duck that you can see on display. Also, if you wanted to try a smoothie, feel free to ask the staff about it as well.

The food was full of flavor, great texture and fresh ingredients on top of having an attentive waitress. Overall, I really enjoyed Ming Chef and can't wait to try more of their entrees!

We stumbled into this quant Asian resto in the heart of Elmhurt after searching for new place to eat to celebrate my oldest son's bday. Their menu is basically almost identical to the ones we go to all the time. But we didn't expect it to be much better. It's more flavorful and you can really taste each dish well. The spices is well define. I love how the salt and pepper smelt is not salty it's crunchy but not too much. It just well blended in the smelt itself. The beef cubes in tomato rice has been my staple dish and is was definitely #1 for me. I can go on and on, in general all the dishes we ordered was absolutely delicious. I think this will be a new fave and find for me. Will definitely either order to go or dine in

We stopped in for lunch on a weekday right when they opened. There weren't many customers so service and food preparation was speedy. At noon, dine-in and carry-out customers started to roll in steadily. Their lunch specials are moderately priced and portions are decent. Overall good casual environment, good food and dining room is clean.

When you have a hunger, check this place out. There is more than just the Chinese favorites. It is Asian food and is better than the usual. So there is variety. It has been fun traveling through the menu with the owners and servers. If looking at the menu and not sure what you may like, let them know. They are happy to make recommendations and perhaps introduce your taste buds to something new. Enjoy your tasty travel through Asia with Ming Chef.

I would highly recommend the drive out to Ming Chef! The food service was quick and the ambience was welcoming. They have an extensive menu you can select from using their digital ordering system. I particularly r enjoyed the fried rice with shrimp, eel, and roe, as well as the bbq pork with a fried egg and rice. Everything here literally tasted amazing so if you're looking for an Asian fusion restaurant, this is the spot for you!

Went here after church for lunch and it was a pleasant experience. I had beef and vegetables while my husband had a whole Tilapia, pricing was fair and customer service was excellent. I loved the milk tea and boba, it was so yummy. The restaurant didn't have a lot of people when we were there which I really liked because it gave us space and intimacy as we don't go on dates frequently and so when we do go, we love to spend time together and not scream to hear each other out if you get what I mean. Highly recommend! Go on a Sunday afternoon at 2!

I noticed they do get busy of a lot of takeout. This is a local chain as they have one in Hoffman Estates. They are attached to a strip mall, so there are plenty of parking. The place is clean and the staff is friendly. You can order off the menu or they now have a digital dine in QR code as well. They have music in the back ground They also sell smoothies and bubble tea here They have variety of pho has a good equal of noodles and ingredients with soup and sometimes if I have a lot of soup, I would ask to bring it home so that I can freeze it and add rice noodles at home :) They have lunch specials here as well as Vietnamese sandwiches. I also tried their appetizers, which are spot on as well. My favorite is the lemongrass fried chicken wings and their steamed shrimp wontons and you can ask if you want the spicy sauce or no spicy. Overall a nice place to go when you have a taste for something different than going to a typical Chinese restaurant. I will come back here again!

The dining room was clean, modern, and had mundane atmosphere like a Chipotle, Roti or Naf Naf Grill. We ordered at the counter and sat down to wait for our food. Service was good and food was fine. My only complaint would be that the beef broth in the pho was not quite as flavorful as some pho restaurants and a little too sweet for my personal taste. I have found other Vietnamese restaurants do this for the American palate and I added chili oil to add balance the flavor. Portions were generous and prices were no bargain. After tax and tip we spent $60 for 2 people with just the appetizer and 2 large bowls of pho.

What I love most is the versatility...you have the traditional sit-down dining area, and then on the other side (toward the back/left), there's the hibachi grill. Now, I'll be honest, the line can get long, especially on Sundays right when they open at noon. But it's absolutely worth the wait. Everything is fresh and made to order, and I've never had a bad experience here. Some of my go-to favorites include the egg foo young, Mongolian beef, spicy egg rolls, and spicy crab rolls...but honestly, you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is always friendly and welcoming, which makes a difference. The atmosphere has a little bit of buzz to it, but it's not overwhelming, you can still enjoy your conversation without feeling like you're shouting over noise. Overall, this is a five-star go-to spot for me. Consistent, flavorful, and reliable every single time. If you're in the Chicagoland area, especially near Elmwood Park, New Star is definitely worth checking out.

Finally, a staff member said the people at our reserved table were still eating and they were waiting for them to get up. When I asked when our table would actually be ready, she laughed, threw her hands up, and said she didn't know. What made the situation even worse was watching other customers walk in and be seated while we continued to wait. From what I observed, Black families were waiting extended periods of time, while White and Mexican customers were seated much more quickly. A party of 15 that arrived well after us was even seated before my group. I am deeply disappointed and disgusted by the treatment my family received on my mother's birthday. This would have been her first hibachi experience, and instead it was ruined by poor customer service and what appeared to be unfair treatment. I will never return and would not recommend this restaurant based on my experience.

The lady (who I believe is Yola) told me they planned to rotate dishes and will include various Asian dishes, like Thai food. Today they had fried rice, crispy noodles, shrimp, fried chicken drumsticks/wings, chicken lollipop, and diced chicken & potatoes. They even had duck! It all looked good, but I decided to try fried rice with the diced chicken & potatoes, along with a few pieces of chicken lollipop (which is like fried chicken on a stick, or bone). I brought the food to my parent's house for a family dinner. I really enjoyed the food. The fried rice wasn't out of this world, but the chicken lollipop was really good and the chicken & potato dish was pretty good. I love Asian food, so I'm stoked about having a halal option. The food was sold by weight, and I feel we got a decent value. This isn't a place you can go to for a nice dinner out, but a good takeout option. Looking forward to trying other dishes here.

Ordering was a breeze and the guys were always open to a conversation or giving suggestions. The restaurant was clean and the meal was always tasty. Just a note but the further away you move from any major city the fewer and harder it is to find great Asian food. The suburb is lucky to have them. The pandemic brought new staffing. Some were pleasant with customers though one lady, a supervisor had the wrong ideas of what customer service and proper etiquette is. Just the basics of my final visit. I took my family for lunch. We ordered lunch specials and a couple extra must-try plates. Two specials hit the table and the third was left waiting for her meal. Unbeknownst to us in the moment, her food was handed to a single patron there for his lunch. The place was filling up with a lunch rush but not so many that had complicated orders. Many were ordering similar lunch specials. Kung pao lunch special was popular. When her order finally arrived the supervisor realized she had given the wrong plate to the customer sitting some tables behind us. Mind you ten minutes had already passed. She quickly went over to him and asked what he had ordered. She then took the plate he was eating from and handed him the fresh plate. He was still holding a half eaten egg roll in his hand. Then she brought the quarter eaten plate and placed it in front of my mother. Before she could leave I stopped her and asked her what she was doing. She simply stated that was her lunch order. I told her she handed my mother someone else's food that they were eating and I watched the whole thing. Why didn't you take that to the back and make a completely new plate of food?! I paid the bill and got the F**k out. That's gross. Also, you gave the other patron new food but cannot do the same for our table?? This place is dead to me. If she could do that, it beckons the question of what else is happening behind the scenes.

Nice twist on an asian style wing. Comes topped with pickled onions and radish. Galbi cargot: Meat version of escargot. The table loved this! SUPER cheesy. Not recommended if lactose intolerant. Crabby clam puffs: I love any version of a crab rangoon. Filling is more crab meat than cream cheese.
