This is my go to Chinese place. My old go to place that had Lemon Chicken got turned into a Poke Bowl place. If you want great tasting food and at a competitive price then this is the place. Trust me, other places charge $18 and over for Shrimp Fired Rice. Here I get charged under $15 and it's the best tasting. Usually I drop in for the Shrimp Fired Rice and Egg Drop Soup. This is also the first place where I've tried the Hot Oil. Baby, let me tell you it's the best stuff on Earth. If you think Hot Mustard is delicious and even if you don't like it this would be right up your alley. It's got a great flavor. I do have to warn you not to use too much just a drop at first so you can kind of gauge how you like your heat. I stir it up in my rice and even put a little bit in my Egg Drop Soup. I've been on a mission to find more Hot Oil, but this place so far has the best oil with the best flavor. I love going here because it's a convenient location and the service is fast. I call ahead to not have to wait because sometimes I pickup something for the family when on my way home from work. Also speaking of family this is the only Chinese that we get where there are literally no leftovers. The kids eat it all up. Now if we get Panda Express or Asian King Buffett they don't eat all the food, but here it's all gone easy clean up and I didn't have to cook. Win-win. read more

Had take out hot and sour soup and Kung Pow Chicken. Went here at the recommendation of my daughter. I found the Hot and Sour soup bland; not spicy at all. I also found that the Kung Pow chicken had some type of batter on it as opposed to being stir fried! In addition, the Kung Pow had no taste to it; Not spicy at all. The pork fried rice was also bland and had no egg in it. I had to pour a bunch of soy sauce on the rice to give it flavor. Very disappointed in my daughter's recommendation. Not sure what she was thinking but will not travel the 7 miles for this. If I want mediocre Chinese food, Panda Express is only 1 mile down the road! read more

I love Chinese food, and my favorite Chinese restaurant closed a while back. I have been periodically testing other Chinese food places around Keller to see if any meet my expectations. I tried New China today. I ordered some favorites: the Happy Family with lo mein, won ton soup, and I also added a PuPu Platter that my husband and I could share. Everything was super greasy and deep fried. The Happy Family was practically inedible. It was swimming in grease, not sauce... grease. I will include a picture, so you can see what I mean. When I opened the food container, an overflow of grease spilled on my table. The beef was okay. The rest of the meat was overcooked, too greasy, and the scallops were super fishy. I didn't trust it. The veggies were mush. The ribs on the PuPu Platter were HUGE, but super greasy. We were supposed to get two of everything, but there was only 1 chicken wing... but it was also huge. They gave us 4 pork skewers that were tasty, but also obviously deep fried. The crab rangoons, fried shrimp, and egg rolls were really good! My lo mein noodles were waaaay too soft, but some people like them that way. Just not me, so I couldn't eat it. :( The won ton soup was dyed yellow or something.. just really super yellow. It tasted like chicken broth, so maybe some kind of food coloring? The won tons were so big, I had to cut them, and some were not fully cooked. The meat inside seemed cooked, but the won ton was pretty thick and seemed to not quite be a noodle in places, but a paste. The taste was okay, but it wasn't super appetizing because of the extreme yellowness. Just all-in-all a 2 of 5 star experience. Probably will not go back to New China in Watauga. read more

This restaurant has horrible customer service and a rude order taker. Apparently I made a mistake on my online order and was told I should have known better, I placed the order. She had the gall to laugh at me both on the phone and in person. The dispute stemmed from me hitting the button for house special rice noodles instead of hitting house special fried rice. One option was right above the other. I got a generic text confirmation saying my order number and the time it was going to be ready. I was never given an itemized receipt so I never knew I made a mistake otherwise I would have called the restaurant to correct it. In short I never knew until we got home and opened the items. I called immediately and was berated by the order taker at the restaurant and told it was all my fault. I was laughed at by her even when I tried to explain. Had they given me an itemized receipt upon order or deliver I would have raised a concern. She continued to imply that I was playing games with her and that this wasn't the restaurants fault. All of which I was okay with up until they wouldn't listen to me when I told them I had zero verification on my order. I was yelled at hung up on the phone. I was also told I had to come back to the restaurant and they couldn't send me my receipt. Horrible experience and extremely disappointed that some employee vented all of their anger out on a paying customer trying to explain their side of the story. She told 3 different customers that they couldn't order over the phone and hung up on them too while I was in the restaurant trying to get my receipt and explain what had happened. The employee claimed to be the owner and told me never to come back there again while she continued to yell at me in front of a line of 10-12 other customers. Sad because they had such good food and this is the way they treat loyal customers. If you choose to continue to patronize this business be warned you too may be treated this way. Perhaps you don't care because you'll be in and out and on your way. Heaven forbid you make a mistake and not know about it until you get all the way home. read more

We decided to venture out one evening last month to find a good Chinese restaurant close to us and I am sure glad we did! We've been there multiple times since our first visit. This place is our new "go-to" chinese place in Keller/Watauga area. It's far and above any of the other places we've been to. Their Chicken Lo-mein is super flavorful and their chicken fried rice, albeit not saucey or greasy like I'm used to with fried rice, is outstanding. And each meal gave my wife and I 3 completely satisfyingly filling meals to eat throughout the week. 5 stars for sure!! read more

Where do I start. Thank you so much for being opened after a horrible storm. This was the best Chinese food I ever had! The fried shrimp were hot and fresh, the egg rolls were outstanding, the general Taos chicken was the best I ever had, the Mongolian beef was filled with flavor and meaty, the chicken noodle soup was so fresh and delicious, and the wonton soup was the best. New China is a small storefront restaurant right next to Albertsons on 377. It may be small and slightly run down but for the price and quantity of food makes this place an awesome place to visit aside from peiwei or panda. Now, I would give this place a 5 star rating except that you HAVE to know what to order and how to order it. DO NOT order food for take out ever. The food will be edible but it tends to get soggy from the container. I hate soggy Chinese food. A few of my favorite things to get here is the sweet and sour chicken, the BBQ pork lo mein, and their BBQ spareribs. Finally, a trip to New China would not be complete without ordering some of their awesome egg rolls. Why are these guys absolutely amazing?? They are gigantic!! They're seriously about the size of a starbucks doubleshot can, possibly a little longer. Our first time ordering takeout from this restaurant. We moved here from Austin in January and this was our first time ordering Chinese. I order the General Tso Chicken with Chicken fried rice. My wWife ordered Mushroom Beef and Crab Rangoons. We ordered online and drove up to pickup. Drive time was 10 minutes. Our order was ready and hot. We opened it ate at home. The food was delicious and not overly expensive. They are generous with their portions. We have found our place for Chinese food. We highly recommend New China! read more

Typical Look, Not So Typical Tastes. From the outside (actually, even from the inside), New China looks like many other small Chinese restaurants occupying about any strip across the metroplex (or country for that matter), but I was pleasantly surprised by the flavors of their food. I had the Kung Pao Chicken, which was moderately spicy, had plenty of Peanuts and very good flavor in Chicken and the Vegetables. If you like more spice, there's a self-serve Pepper Sauce beside the Soft Drinks. The rest of my family had Sesame Chicken, Egg Foo Yung and the Family Lo Mein Special. All were very pleased with the tastes, four of us ate for less than $40, and we all had food to take home. Is this the best Chinese in the world? Nope. Is it solid? Absolutely. Do they offer big portions? Ridiculously large portions! We got a large won ton soup, a small won ton soup, an egg roll, house special fried rice, a combo meal of sesame chicken (with an egg roll) and 2 drinks for $27. The portions were huge. The very large won tons in the soup were a little under-cooked, but when I reheated the left-overs, they were perfect. Taste was pretty good. The egg rolls, as mentioned in other posts, were HUGE. Don't be freaked out by the odd pinkish color. And the fried rice has large chunks of pork - some was okay but I ate around most of it. The sesame chicken was pretty good. It could use some more broccoli, but otherwise the texture was great - chicken was tender on the inside and crisp on the outside. The portion was so big I took enough home for 2 more meals - and I got the smaller combo! This is an order-at-the-counter joint. They have a ton of to-go orders, and the poor kid working the register would no sooner try to bus a table and the phone would ring for another to-go order. They could definitely benefit from an additional busboy to help keep the front of the store a little cleaner. Overall, I'm waivering between 3 and 4 stars... First off, the egg rolls were really good. Delicious, and just the right amount of crunch and the right amount of melt-in-your-mouth. It went downhill from there, sadly. The rice was overcooked. Beef with broccoli tasted way too salty. We tried the won-ton soup but it was flavorless. None of us finished our entrees or soup. Disappointed. We used to eat New China all the time, we stopped going a couple years ago, as the quality got very poor. Heard from some friends that it had taken turn for the better. Ordered today and it was awful . Had the Singapore noodles which look fantastic but the strange perfumey smell and odd taste was not good very strange. It was not a curry flavor which is what it used to be /should be instead it was not good , maybe old oil?? I literally couldn't stand the strange smell and threw the plate away and got a new one. Had the Mu Shu beef it was good-ish but very oily, it was fine but not great. Ordered wings both honey and regular both tasted like old chicken not rotten just old and dry. We also got our most favorite dish that we all used to love, the boneless spare ribs they also had an old oil flavor and they were extremely hard and dry even though they had sauce on them . So with the sweet and sour soup and the fortune cookies being the best part of the meal and 50 plus dollars spent. Unfortunately we won't be going back to New China again. read more

House special fried rice is great. We've tried all the shrimp entrees and they were all tasty but not many shrimp. If you ask for extra shrimp they charge $1.50 per large shrimp, which is excessive. Food is definitely worthwhile coming in. read more

If I could give it zero stars I would! Fried Wontons are FROZEN not made fresh. Spring Rolls are FROZEN not made fresh. Meats are precooked and then warmed when you order. Girl cashier is rude! I asked to speak to the owner, "he doesn't speak English." I asked to speak to the manager, she told me "we do not have one." I asked for a refund, she was very combative and unwilling to do so. She ended the conversation by saying "you are the only one complaining about the frozen food." Shameful this place is allowed to sell food!! read more
