Spicy Beef and Pork Noodles Soup
    Ariana V.

Two words: hidden gem. This was probably some of the best Vietnamese food I've experienced in Fort Worth. I had the spicy beef and pork noodles soup for my main, which hit every note. The broth was delicious: flavorful and the right balance of heat. The meat was tender and I truly devoured this dish. We started with the spring rolls and seared pork potstickers which were also good. I thoroughly enjoyed the sauce for the potstickers and used it for the spring rolls as well. Everything we had was delicious and service was fast, friendly, and efficient. This is more of a sit down, casual vibe which was perfect for a rainy day. The menu is extensive, so I'm sure we'll be back to try other things. The banh mi looked especially good and is one of my favorite sandwiches, so I'm looking forward to trying this next. Definitely don't glaze over this spot!

If you like dishes from the central Vietnamese (Hue) region, then this is your spot. They offer bun hen, banh beo, banh loc, banh nam, banh ram it, and of course bun bo hue. It is located in a shopping center in North Fort Worth that is unfortunately not the greatest location for them. It used to be a busier shopping center, but now looks semi deserted. The interior of this space, however, is beautiful with pretty, lush plants throughout the dining area. A stark comparison to the exterior. We ordered the banh khoai to share. I was so confused, because I've always known this dish as banh xeo. It even looks like it in the photo on the menu. I later found out that banh khoai is the Hue version of the southern Vietnam banh xeo. The main difference is that it doesn't have coconut milk in the batter and is typically crispier and smaller in size. It's just as delicious to me! They also offer boba drinks and other traditional Viet dishes. Great addition to the North Fort Worth area. It's a bit out of the way for me, but I look forward to coming back and trying more of their food. I hope they stay around for a while!

This place is great. Family owned and operated. Very clean. The service was awesome. Very friendly. I had steak and brisket Pho with a beef rib. Also had grilled pork spring rolls. Everything was very good. I will definitely be back.

Delicious and reasonably priced. My kids even loved the food! Definitely a repeat. Great atmosphere. Fun to get kids to try new things. We order potstickers and the kids order extra after they ate their entire plate. Edamame and green tea were a family favorite. I got the lemon grass chicken, hubs got the shrimp eggroll vermicelli, and son been pho. Great service!

I understand this place is starting to get more popular. I placed an online order during lunch, and it took about 50 minutes to be ready. There was only one waitress, and I noticed many people were waiting a while for her to take their orders--poor thing! She was handling the floor while also working as the cashier. I feel like they could really use more staff maybe a dedicated cashier to help at the register, refill waters when it's not busy, and handle to-go orders. Nonetheless, the food was still delicious.

Really yummy pho restaurant within the area. I typically enjoy my pho in Arlington or haltom city but J's broth was really good. Not too sweet not too fatty/oily. The staff were amazing, not hovering around to the point of annoying but just enough to be attentive. Funny personalities too! My friend and I did the special theyre having right now for about 15$ you get a choice between 2 appetizers+ pho or spicy noodle soup option+ dessert. I ends up with the fresh spring roll, meatball pho, and flan. I basically licked the plates clean, not a crumb or drop left.

Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 (Calm, friendly, attentive) Atmosphere: 5/5 (Clean, spacious, plenty of seating, and they actually had some good music playing) What I liked best: I'm not a big Pho person but the broth for the Pho and Bun Bo Hue was amazingly good. Would I go back: Definitely!

We went to J's place today to celebrate a birthday and had a wonderful time! This location's diverse menu of authentic Vietnamese dishes sets it apart from most other area restaurants. We began with "Bánh Bèo", a treat served only on weekends. Each bite offered a delicate flavor. It also had a perfect texture. I ordered the "Bún Bò Huế" and we also had a well-seasoned pork chop, cooked perfectly. Plentiful lemongrass and a generous measure of spice flavors gave the broth its richness and boldness and this rendered the broth comforting and satisfying. The menu offers impressive selections. The food is superb. For those seeking deeply authentic Vietnamese cuisine that exceeds the typical pho and bánh mì, this establishment is an absolute must-try. Our return is certain.

The food it's ok. Comfort food. kids, friendly, and good environment. Good service definitely will come back with the family again the service vrery nice

My partner and I went today for the first time. We were sat and greeted right away. We ordered the dumplings and they were very good, needed the sauce for sure but were crispy. They brought out egg rolls as well that were great. I had fried rice while he had pho. We both enjoyed our meals very much. The food all came out very quickly and was very hot. Our server checked in on us multiple times. I often eat small portions so he checked to ensure I was happy with my meal since I hadn't ate too much at the time. My boyfriend also got lemonade and it was some of the best lemonade we've ever had. The portions were also very large, especially for the price we paid.

Best Vietnamese food in town, must try Bun Bo Hue, Pho with the Rib, Banh It Ram... and perfect flan to complete the experience, super friendly service. Definitely will bring my family back here more often.

I was excited to try this new place out since it was so close to home and had so many authentic dishes listed. The Banh Khoai I ordered was not what was expected and came with very little lettuce to wrap with. It was more of a salad than lettuce wrap. We split both dishes just to try it out. The pho broth was ok. We arrived just at lunch hour, and it didn't seem the broth simmered long enough to be savory. It's a cute restaurant - brand new and clean inside. High ceilings and surprisingly spacious. They do have a small, stocked bar. Service is basic, nothing to brag about. Their menu is pretty extensive, lots to choose from. I may give them another shot after they've been open for a little while longer.

Food was cold, I believe this is pre made and they just warm it up. I wouldn't recommend.

Big win for my fellow veg heads too, there are plenty of customizable options which I always appreciate. That said, both my husband's dish and mine felt a little muted. We were chasing that classic Vietnamese fragrance, a little more salt, a little more spice, and ended up doing some DIY with sriracha and extra jalapeños to get there. It definitely wasn't bad by any means, just not quite hitting that craveable level that brings you back the next day.

My husband always orders the spicy filet mignon pho, and it never disappoints. The broth has a nice kick, and the filet mignon is tender and flavorful. I usually like trying something different each visit aside from the spicy pho, and so far I've enjoyed the curry plate with grilled shrimp, sliced grilled pork, Korean BBQ short ribs, shaken beef, and the beef stew. Every dish we've tried has been satisfying, well-seasoned, and generously portioned. The service is always friendly and quick, even when they're busy. The restaurant itself is clean, comfortable, and a nice place to relax for a casual meal.

While the bahn mi isn't exactly traditional, it is still very good -- I'd highly suggest getting it with the pate. The sampler appetizer has a little bit of everything and is great for sharing. A quick note on seating: the patio is lovely in theory, with the optional open windows and a breezy feel, but the chairs are not winning any comfort awards. Inside booths are the move. Also worth noting, this is Fort Worth, and once the thermometer hits triple digits, the patio conversation ends itself if the windows are open. Plan accordingly. Malai starts every table with steamed sticky rice and an eggplant dip, which is a charming little ritual and a genuinely good one. We also kicked things off with the Edamame, a heads up on the heat level there, and the Fried Imperial Rolls, filled with ground pork and shrimp and served with a sesame soy sauce. Fair warning: these do not photograph well and arrive at the table looking a little shy. Don't be fooled. They're flavorful, subtly spicy, and well worth ordering. For entrees, we tried the Basil Vegetable Fried Rice two ways, one vegan and one with chicken. The vegan version was a genuine surprise, with vegetables cooked just right and a flavor that didn't need the chicken to make its case. The mushrooms, however, had the texture of something you'd find in a hardware store. Chew at your own risk. The Green Curry, meanwhile, was a case of too much of a good thing. The curry was so heavy-handed it drowned everything underneath it. Sometimes restraint is a virtue. Save room for the Banana Pot de Crème. It's creamy, subtly sweet, and a graceful finish to the meal. The service at Malai is enthusiastic, and I do mean enthusiastic. The staff works as a team, all smiles, attentive, always nearby. Occasionally a little too nearby. More than once a plate nearly disappeared before we were done with it. It's a small complaint, and honestly a far better problem than the alternative. They're warm, cheerful, and clearly enjoy what they do, which goes a long way. Portions are generous, so order a few dishes and share the wealth. For a lunch stop between shops, Malai Kitchen punches well above its weight.
