Not only was a hair found in my food, but a roach came running across the floor as we were eating. I was told this was due to recent fumigation by the server. After the terrible experience here I communicated with the owner who explained it wasn't due to fumigation and he has no interest in doing anything about the issue. The place was dirty and overpriced. I don't know anyone who wants to eat in that environment. read more

Pleasantly surprised!! We had been here for breakfast and honestly didn't realize they were open for dinner. The dinner selection isn't extensive but something for everyone. A surprise in Leland. Have eaten here several times. Breakfast once but the other meals were Friday evenings. Menu and specials always contain some surprises. Food is fantastic. Atmosphere needs some work but the meal makes up for it. Highly recommended. read more

Our family has started a Sunday routine of going out for breakfast and New Day was the first spot we tried. It is still one of the best breakfasts we've had to date. First of all like the name says it is a cafe. From start to finish what a great meal!! Started with the crab dip and a cosmopolitan!! My friend and I got the scallops with a potato puree. My husband had the short rib stroganoff and believe me there was nothing left on his plate. All of our meals were delicious. Jade our waitress was awesome and made a great cosmo. I gave this restaurant a two because as soon as it opened I was dying to go their and see what it was, how good the food would be and how neat it would look. As soon as I stepped foot in that restaurant it gave me a bad feeling about it. It was too hot to be in their, it felt grimy and muggy and the drinks were bad. My second try of New Day Cafe was for dinner at the urging of a friend. I asked for my meal (pork chops) with NO ONIONS. When I received my dinner, just about the entire plate had scallion-like onions on the potatoes and small bits of regular onions in the corn. The table knife needed sharpening for the pork. I recommend they call the place "The New Onion Cafe". That way you can know exactly what is coming to your table. read more

I went with my daughter we both ordered eggs Benedict, I wanted mine over a biscuit with ham, she got the mushroom bacon. Both our eggs were way undercooked ( whites were not cooked at all) . I got one slice of deli ham that was cut in half(paper thin) they might have just left it out as it was that unnoticeable. My daughters bacon was VERY under cooked. My wife and I have eaten there twice now, once for a weekend breakfast and once for dinner. The decor is extremely modest, and one needs to know where it is, but a trip to a restaurant is to enjoy a meal, and New Day does NOT disappoint! It's one of the few restaurants that's earned a perfect "100.0" from the Health Department. The quality of the food is superb, and the presentation of my teriyaki salmon was first-rate. Fantastic food that will exceed your expectations with an attention to detail and perfectly plated presentation. We went with a party of 20 and the service was fabulous, too! All of the entrees came out together and everyone in the party marveled at the quality and deliciousness of their meals. For a lovely, truly gourmet dinner, if you can get past the decor that skews breakfast/lunch cafe then you will be rewarded with a great meal at a price that needs to be raised. Stumbled upon this place totally by accident while searching for a place to have breakfast. Almost settled for Panera or Dunkin but kept driving and viola, a gem!! Best breakfast anywhere and it's hard to beat Toasters and First Watch. The French toast is to give thanks for, the cheesy grits the best that this Buffalo (South Buffalo that is) boy has ever had and I've been here in Wilmington since 2004 so I know my grits. The restaurant is open for dinner, forgot the nights so call before going, and I am definitely going to give it a go. If dinners are as good as the breakfasts then WOW!! Restaurant itself is not fancy but very comfortable and very clean...repeat very clean. The wait staff, although very busy because others have also discovered this fantastic place, are efficient and friendly. If you find yourself in Leland or just want to experience a new great breakfast place give New Day Cafe a try. You will not be disappointed!! read more

We tried New Day Cafe last week for takeout dinner entrees & recommend it highly. We had the Shrimp Scampi and Chicken Marsala. Both were excellent & portions are generous - I got 2 meals from the Marsala. The menu is quite varied with many offerings & good prices. The service is polite and very efficient. Our food was well packaged and stayed hot all the way home to Southport! The restaurant is very clean and inviting. We're glad you're here and will be back! read more

This gem is tucked away in a strip mall-type setting at the very end of a row. Having not been to this place, I thought it may have closed as according to my GPS, I had passed it. Fortunately, I saw the flag ahead and parked. What a sweet spot! Cheerful interior, clean and "COVID-19" distance seating. There were numerous breakfast plates, bowls and other selections along with specials. Hubby is a big corned beef hash "expert" and immediately was drawn to this on the regular menu (2 eggs over easy on CBH served with choice of toast). I am more adventurous and ordered the special Mango Berry French Toast with bourbon syrup (what a way to start the morning!). Both dishes were fantastic! The French toast was thicker than I expected and also served with a cream cheese-type spread (for the life of me I can't remember the correct name--need more coffee!). Fruit was fresh and delicious. The coffee was good and service was very good. It appeared there was one server and the chef handling everything. I will definitely make my way to Leland for the New Day Café again and again! read more

I absolutely love this place! We have done take out, and ate in many times. There are regular menu items and specials made up that always sound amazing. The chef does amazing work with the food and the staff is always friendly and seem genuinely happy to be there. Try any French toast, their biscuits are so good too! The food is AMAZING!! We have eaten here several times and LOVE IT!! Unfortunately, tonight was such a disappointment.... it was dirty. The floors were disgusting , tables sticky and unwashed, silverware was dirty as well. The lighting is not for dinner time and leaves a great deal to be desired, if your looking for a nice place to have dinner with ambiance this is not it. Was so hoping for more out of this place, it will be a long while before we go back. Really wish Leland would get some nicer places to eat dinner. read more

My husband and I had lunch here today. This was my second visit. I am delighted to say the have stepped up their game. They had some growing pains but the service was very good and the food was excellent. Try their chicken salad, it is delicious. They are doing well with the COVID 19 sanitizing and distancing. Been here three times now once for breakfast and twice for lunch and I have a mixed review. They make a great breakfast but my lunch experience has been mixed. Today I ordered the half club sandwich with Cesar salad. The bacon in the club sandwich was dry & over cooked. The white toast was very thin and small even for a half sandwich and if there was any dressing on the sandwich I couldn't find it. The romaine lettuce had a lot of brown spots and was course and hard to chew. The wait staff are nice but need a little polish. For now I'll stick with the breakfast... read more

Just moved into the area and love to support local. Walked in on a Sunday morning after church and got seated to a table the gentleman told us to sit at. We sat there for 10 mins without menu, drinks or being acknowledged. The place is not that big so everyone walked around us to get to their other tables. Just disappointed to say the least. The first time I went there I was not impressed by the cleanliness. Food not swept up in am I crowded room. Tables could have been wiped better. As to the food itself, the slaw had no taste.
