I stumbled upon this gem while frantically searching for an open nail salon on a Sunday in FiDi, and wow, what a find! They got me in right away, and I was pleasantly surprised by the whole experience. First off, I have to say, I'm *obsessed* with the owner. While I was there, a total entitled tech bro barged in and made a beeline for the bathroom, despite her telling him it was broken. He caused a scene (classic ), but she handled it like an absolute champ. Total badass. We got to chatting, and turns out she's been running this place for years. She's seen FiDi and SoMa change a ton as a local business owner, and her stories were unfortunately a bit harrowing, but with no short supply of humor. Despite all the chatting and laughing, she gave me a flawless acrylic full set (yes, I was rocking the old school nails, sorry not sorry). I meant to write this review ages ago--this was back in June--but the fact that I'm still thinking about it says something! If you're looking for great service and an awesome local vibe in the heart of FiDi, this is your spot. read more

I was visiting San Francisco from Maryland for a work trip and decided to get my nails done while waiting for my hotel room to be ready. I came across New French Nails and decided to give it a try. The salon was clean, organized, and had a comfortable vibe. Though they were busy with another client at the time (two workers teaming up on a manicure and pedicure), they greeted me warmly. Since this was a last-minute visit, I didn't mind the wait. They let me pick a color and even encouraged me to grab coffee and come back in 20 minutes. When I returned, they got started right away and gave me one of the best manicures I've had! They paid close attention to detail, cleaned up my cuticles beautifully, and made sure the polish was perfectly even. The staff and owner were super friendly. I recently discovered New French Nails and I've been so happy that I did! They've been generally really flexible with walk-ins and appointments- I haven't had any issues with getting on the same day. I've been in a couple of times for a gel mani and asked for almond shaped nails with a neutral color. They recommended some colors for me, but I specifically have loved the combination of two coats of Funny Bunny and then one coat of Bubble Bath. The quality has been amazing, my nails never chip and still look great after over a month, and the shape is exactly what I want! read more

Fabulous gel mani and pedi, available surprisingly late on a Saturday considering how early most businesses close in this neighborhood on the weekend. Great attention to detail to make sure my nails looked great and that I liked the colors! Well worth the price. Small but clean salon. read more

I never thought that there would be so much to cutting your nails. This was definitely considered a manicure. I even had to do a pedicure because I've neglected a lot. My problem was having cuticle issues. I normally just do a simple cut on my nails. I don't wanna put a lot of attention but when I came here, I was waiting for my wife. She gets her nails done so I decided to do my nails because one of the nice ladies working there asked me if I wanted to so I did it and I ended up giving her a tip because she did such a great highly recommend getting your nails done read more

Came in for a quick pedi before my trip to hawaii and honestly they did such a good job! I paid $38 for normal pedi before tip, and they did a foot scrub and massage & spent a lot of time cleaning up the nails before painting. Were quick but efficient - would come back again. read more

Lan did an amazing job with my nails! She called the fake nails a gel builder nail. She put the fake mail on then some gel on top to make it all even across the top of the nail. The process of just getting the nails in the right shape and glued took an hour. She did so great! Then she painted on these thin French nails for me! I loved that she even asked what I preferred - thin, medium, or thick French tip. I've never been asked that before and I'm so glad bc I love the thin look. I absolutely loved these for my engagement shoot! Would recommend and go again! Gel builder cost $65 then $10 for the French. So total was $75 before tip. read more

I cannot emphasize enough how much I love new French nails. Lan is the best!! I go monthly to get a fill on gel builder and I always get compliments on my nails. Lan is helpful in deciding colors when I have a general idea, and my nails have grown so much since I've started using these. I can't wait to continue going here. Very disappointing experience. I went in to get my nails done and while I completely understand for a new set, she made my nails way too longer and even though I was getting tips, I wanted them much shorter. No big deal but the point is she had to cut and file my nails multiple times requiring me to come back for the last part of my French manicure. So we agreed I would return today when they open at 10 AM. I walk in explain to the women, I have an appointment with the woman and they said well she's not gonna be here till later or come back later. I said I have a flight to catch. I don't live here. Then they start going back-and-forth in Vietnamese so of course I grab my Google Translate And it's a full-blown conversation about me. Extremely inappropriate and I don't understand why every time you go to a Vietnamese nail salon they talk about you right in front of your face when these days everyone is armed with AI and Google Translate. I suggest you stop talking about your customers right in front of them and assume we now can understand you. There were two nail techs there and all they had to do was put the stripes on the end of my nails to complete the French manicure and you would think I was asking them both to stop what they were doing and start my nails immediately. Extremely rude and poor service. So many places to try. And they do not have the chair abs connected foot bath- they used a cold bucket of water. Sorry! read more

Very happy with my French mani. I just had to show a picture and Lan was able to create this on my natural nails. The shape of the nails is perfect pointed almond shaped which makes my hand look slender. LAN did a very thorough job and it did not take a long time either. I am so happy that I discovered this place. Would be going back for sure. Will be my new go to nail spot. read more

Lan and her team at New Frech nails are the best! I've been coming here for almost 6 years. Lan is the best. My natural nails are so long and healthy thanks to her. She is detailed and miraculous with every manicure. During covid times Lan and the staff make sure to keep distance between the clients. There's lots of air flow in the salon. Both doors are always open. She and her staff are fully vaccinated. She had plexiglass up at the manicure stations. feel safe here. And no one does a better job. read more

MADE MY NAILS THIN!! I've been getting my nails done for years and never have I ever had my nails filed so thin. Before going I had long, healthy nails that never broke. In the past week 3 of my nails have bent backwards causing my nail beds to bleed and nails to break. I've had to cut all my nails short and now am waiting for them to grow back healthy again... I also just got engaged and am sad I can't have cute nails to show off with my ring. Just a horrible experience all around, and hoping I can save others read more

Clean, Nice, & opened til 7pm! I called after 5pm for an acrylic fill, they took me in at 6:15pm. Which thank you! My nails came out great & I even went back the next day for a pedicure. They removed gel so quickly too, so no waiting w foil for 15+minutes. Lovely place. read more

Two things I do splurge on are coffee drinks and pedicures because living in Hawaii, I go barefoot or wear slippers every day. I usually get a gel pedi every 6 weeks or so and polish generally looks nice for 3-5 weeks. I was long overdue and had some extra time while I was in town plus this place was right across the street from my hotel and was able to take me right away. They have TONS of choices for gel colors which was very impressive but the pedicure was just ok. She didn't take her time or do a foot massage like they do at my usual nail place at home and my feet had been killing me from wearing boots for 2 days (they might just not include foot massage with pedi here). But it was the same price for the 30 min she spent on me as I usually pay for the pedi that they spend an hour on in Hawaii. Plus the TV was blasting the whole time with a commercial loop about poor starving kids in 3rd world countries that need our donations which didn't make for a relaxing experience at all. To top it off, a day or two later, the polish on one nail had already fallen off but I'd already left SF so couldn't go back to fix it. read more

OVERPRICED and not worth it. Gel Mani & regular pedi will cost you seventy three dollars!!! First of all there is no clear pricing ANYWHERE. That should have been a red flag but I was in need of a mani pedi. So I sat down and they say it's fine they got time to take me in as a walk in. 15mins in a lady comes in and says she has been ripped off and that they need to redo her nails and service. Again should have been a red flag. But at this point they already started on my feet. Mind you they KEPT stopping to talk to each other and the lady who is doing my feet took about 5 breaks already. Also they have NO FOOT REST. my feet was in an awkward angle and needless to say it was uncomfortable. Finally got to my nails. This is when it just got bad. Now the lady who took 45mins on my feet because she kept stopping to do something else or to talk or to b nosy with what was going on with that other customer had to switch with another nail technician. I think it was because she didn't know how to do gel manicures and she was killing time. At this point I'm livid. Then the other woman gets on and keeps filing my nails to the point I had to stop her and say you can't file more it's starting to hurt! Then she takes the clippers and breaks skin! So every time she rubs alcohol or water or just anything near it, IT STINGS like crazy. To top it off they have ONE yes ONLY ONE machine that dries gel manicures. They wait and pass it around. I swear I was like WTF is going on. All in all I was very upset and I felt like I was robbed. I knew it would b pricey since it was the financial district but $73 for a gel mani and REGULAR Pedi was ridiculous!!!!! STAY AWAY. One customer tipped $5 and the technician was like really $5 and then she went off talking to the other technician in their language WHILE the customer was still there! You couldn't understand what they were saying BUT YOU KNEW from their stanky face attitude. I felt bad for the customer. Maybe if YOU GUYS ARENT ROBBING ppl with ok service they would tip better. THEY DIDNT EVEN HAVE MY COLOR. I had to settle and still pay off the rocker! Waste of 1 1/2 hr of my life and money. I do not recommend. If you need your nails done in the city please go to those that offer champagne BECAUSE the price would be the same! read more

Went in to get a gel full set manicure and gel manicure. They are extremely slow and extremely expensive. I got charged $55 for hands, $5 extra because I wanted med-long length, and $5 for jewel application, and I brought my own jewel. Are you f***ing kidding me. That's a total of $65 just for my hands, and $45 for my toes. And my hand Nails ended up being crooked and bumpy. I am very upset. Plus let's not forget it costed me $12 in parking. So this has been a very bad experience for me. Never coming back here again. And when I called to set the appointment up, they had all time slots available, and that shows you that they aren't the best place to get your nails done. $123 total disaster and one very unhappy customer!!! read more

I've passed by a couple of time and after reading the yelp reviews decided to give it a try. The technician was very professional and made sure my nails looked perfect. This salon is the best! Lan is a gifted nail tech/artist. Seriously, look at my nails in the photos! Her work is detailed, lasts 3-4 weeks with no breaking or chipping. I have been going to this location for over 5 years now. Hannah gives the best massage and pedicure-a real massage that is relaxing and firm. The place is clean and everyone inside is so kind and skilled. I am so glad I found this place and am so happy with the service! Decently priced, convenient for FiDi people, and so far have done a good job service-wise. I've done both walk-in (if it was during an odd hour like Sunday afternoon) and made an appointment (if I knew beforehand the time I wanted to come in would be busy), and so I've never had to wait for long. They'll sit you down on one of their massage chairs and bring a water bowl if you are doing a pedicure. Note that if they are doing something that requires detail/ precision, they might ask you to change your massage chair settings so you don't shake as much. If you are doing both a mani and pedi and it isn't too busy, two people will work with you so it goes faster. So far I've done gel nails (mani and pedi), gel removal, regular mani and pedi, and callus removal. I generally find prices reasonable- the last time I went, I got a mani and pedi and callus removal treatment and it all came out to $55 (vs other salons in the area where it was $60 for just a mani/pedi). So far haven't had any complaints on the quality of the work- even my regular mani/pedi have turned out great! Things to note: - Bring cash for tip- they don't let you tip on your credit card - If you are doing a regular mani/pedi, be prepared to sit a while to dry your nails. They don't have usual nail dryers and only have fans... usually will take 15-20+ min to dry holding your nails up to a mini fan. If you try to leave early, don't be surprised if your nails aren't dry yet and mess them up Conveniently located, good service and price- this is my go-to spot for nails in FiDi so far. read more

I came in for a shellac polish removal. I like to take a break in between applications to keep my nails thick, strong and healthy. Upon removal it is likely that a little bit of your natural nail will be scraped off, but this first and last visit to New French Nails left me in pain for several days, especially on one nail that was shaved almost down to the skin--almost. The nails where soaked and a metal tool was used to scrape off the layers---nothing odd there. Upon the technician "finishing" the job, i saw there were still thick clumps of shellac base coat on my nails. I asked her to remove it and she did, partially,---along with a lot of my nails. My nails are now so thin and they split and break a lot, even though I wear them short. There is even a visible line in my nail/left-over shellac basecoat that was not there before. To their credit, what little is due for this sorry job, is that the application of shellac was particularly thick. It was done in a matter that one would apply gel nails to tips. I won't be returning and actually can't go anywhere until my nails completely grow out and thicken. read more

I have been coming here for about 5 years now. This review is long over due. Lan is amazing. I get gel builder full sets/fills from Lan. Gel builder was one of the reasons I started coming here years ago and I'm so glad I found this place! Lan is a talented nail artist and she always gets my nails exactly how I want them. Half my eyelashes were kinked. Yes i followed aftercare perfectly. Then my eyelashes fell out and at some point were itchy and my lid was swollen. I'm not post photos but have them, and she has seen them. My eyebrows also were like hard and wouldn't move. Later they started falling out too. She gave me a full refund when I send her pics. But this is before everything started falling out. I had to buy a lash serum to grow them back. And then in August I started noticing that my eyebrows were falling out. I thought they were shedding normally and going back to blonde. NOPE! They weren't growing back at all. I went to the dr and it is 100% because of what she did. I now am using rogaine to regrow them. It's taking forever and she also refused to pay for product to help grown them back. It's probably going to be another 2-3 months of me looking awful because of Perri. Have the Holiday you deserve.

They are amazing here! And honestly if you have to wait (tip: sign of good service) it's worth it. I've had gel, manicure, and pedicure done here. All have been amazing, and of lasting quality. The staff really cares about every part of the process. I've been a dedicated client for a year and always return because of the amazing results. I literally love this place! The ladies are all so nice!! They do an amazing job on my gel manicure every time -- I never go anywhere else anymore. They get pretty busy around 5-6pm because everyone seems to want to go there after work, but if you call to make an appointment they can generally squeeze you in. I had Hanna for a gel manicure which turned out absolutely perfect. She paid close attention to detail and made sure it was exactly how I wanted it every step of the way. Elsa changed professions about ten days ago, leaving me to scramble to find someone in my area who could provide a similar quality of service in roughly the same price range. After some search engine trial-and-error, I finally got a Google page that listed three salons that offered a simple pedicure at a reasonable rate. The closest of these was Mani-Pedi Spa. Even though they take walk-ins, I called on Tuesday 9/22 and made an appointment for 11 am the following day. I was greeted by Gwen, who immediately pegged me as a guy who probably just wanted his nails clipped and nothing else. She walked me over to a wall display and asked me to choose a favorite nail color. It took me a few seconds to realize she was joking. (Good icebreaker, Gwen!) Anyway, the pedicure was not only thorough but absolutely painless. Granted, it took about 15 minutes longer than what I was used to, but I consider that a very reasonable tradeoff for a job done with the precision of a jeweler or a watchmaker. Once we were done, Gwen walked me to a lady at a desk at the back of the shop. That made it easy for me to hand the desk lady the pedicure fee and hand Gwen the tip at about the same time. I decided to wait a few days before posting my review, just to make sure there was no residual pain or swelling near the problem toe. That milestone has been cleared, and it looks like I now have a new regular pedicurist to see somewhere around November 11. Thanks, Gwen. Great job!
