We hadn't been here in a while and decided to give it a visit for sushi. Things have really improved since our last visit. The wonton and egg drop soups were very flavorable and fresh. Although the spring rolls were fried,they were not greasy. The filling was fresh and included spring. But the best part of the dinner was the sushi rolls. We tried a few and couldn't decide on a favorite. Our server was pleasant and kept our tea coming. When we arrived, we were seated immediately despite a huge party in the back. Our waitress was funny and personable and could really give suggestions because she knew the menu backwards and forwards. What a gem! I wasn't sure what to expect from the range of reviews on Yelp but I can say that I'm happy that I gave it a chance. I didn't eat in but will say the customer service I got was still ideal. The meal I ordered was the Bento Box chicken teriyaki, shrimp tempura & shumai, with the American Dream sushi roll, and an order of steamed dumplings. The Bento box came with more then I expected, plenty enough to split between two people. Included with the box is a choice of miso soup or ginger salad. I opted for the salad. In the box was a large helping of white rice, two long tempura shrimp, tempura broccoli, tempura sweet potatoe, tempura squash, and the chicken breast covered in teriyaki sauce. And I think some tempura tofu, which isn't my cup of tea, so i wasn't trying to find out. All and all, everything tasted good. The included sauce with the tempura vegetables and shrimp was a nice adage. The American Dream sushi roll was a little bit of crunchy with salty and sweet taste pair together. Definitely a treat by itself. The steamed dumplings were perfectly cook. It came with a sweet dipping sauce. No complaints with it. Food is inconsistent from visit to visit. Sushi rolls cut like a third grader on the first day of art class. I've seen better at the grocery store. Fried items soggy and chewy. The veg inside my egg roll had more crunch than the outside of it. Everything was lacking in seasoning. My mom made spicier food than the so-called Thai food on the menu. Service is generally inconsistent from visit to visit. And when the server-trainee put in the wrong order I had the choice of having them "fix" an item I no longer wanted AND charge me for it. And by fix I don't meean replace, just pile on more wrong to somehow make it right. Or didn't work. So I paid for poorly prepared and presented food instead of making the scene to get what this meal failed to deliver. So much for being civil. I'm all for hiring more servers, but if they are turned loose on the dining room either train them properly or supervise them and step in when they fumble this dramatically. I'm running out of reasons to gamble on which version of New Ginger is going to be there the next time ... assuming there is a next time, which ain't looking great. Right now, I'd take Panda Express over this. At least if I go there I'll know in advance I'll be disappointed ... Good selection of beer, wine and drinks. I suggest the Saki martini - so good! Glass of house Chardonnay was also very good. Less than 1/2'of the price we pay anywhere else. We got the all you can eat (22.95). We wanted to try so many items. Worked our way through the menu for that and were not disappointed on anything we chose. Seriously.
