So glad that Aksarben added Gold Mountain to the area. Now I don't need to go all the way to WestO for some dim sum. The restaurant interior is new and spacious, few seatings though. The place added picture into the menu so it helps other who are new to the cuisine. However, some dishes that I want are either sold out (I came at 11.30am) or the machine that makes it broke down. Pretty disappointing. Other dishes came out pretty quick (~20minutes) and the taste is alright. One thing I like about this location that the foods are less greasy. Service is not that attentive, have to call servers multiple times for water, chopsticks, etc. Our server seems new and does not know the menu very well. read more

The egg drop soup was just ok. The frustrating park is they brought my companion's food out 10 minutes before mine. So he sat there not eating and his food getting cold waiting for my food to come. They could have brought out the egg rolls and appetizers instead of bringing out his meal long before mine was ready. My lunch companion had the general Tso chicken and I had the roasted duck. Both meals were mediocre at best. As appetizers we had sticky rice in lotus leaf and steamed pork buns. The pork buns were a little better than OK, but not great, but the sticky rice in lotus leaf had no flavor at all. It was just unflavored sticky rice with steamed meat that also lacked flavor. The service overall was ok, but they definitely need to learn more about how and when to serve food. Our appetizers came out about 10 after my duck did, and that came out 10 minutes after my lunch mate's meal did. If I go back again and the food and service is better I will update my review, but for now, it is what it is. I so wanted to like this place. read more

Service was adequate. However the dimsum I had didn't taste fresh. It also wasn't very hot. The custard buns I had didn't seem like they were steamed. Best restaurant in Aksarben! They have an extensive menu with my favorite Singapore noodles in town! I come here so often I know the entire staff haha. Located across from Stinson Park, this is a small family owned Cantonese style Chinese restaurant. It's a small building but it's cozy. Staff is friendly and always very helpful with recommendations. I've tried a bunch of dishes from the menu, but the Singapore noodles are my reigning favorite. The dish consists of curried rice noodles, bell peppers, shrimp, pork and chicken. It is AMAZING and I am obsessed with their version of the dish! The portions are huge and well priced. I'm also a big fan of their nai wong bao buns, which are steamed custard filled bums. They're soft and pillowy and absolutely delightful. Honestly, I haven't met a plate here I didn't like. It's all good. Seriously. I'm moving away from Omaha soon and I'll be sad to leave New Gold Mountain, so f you're in the area and want some amazing food, please stop in for some delicious eats. read more

Similar to other reviewers I'm a big fan of the original west location... but in true typical midtown-dweller fashion, I don't like driving "all the way out there" to get my dim sum fix. So yes, I had lofty expectations. As others mentioned, the interior is swankier. The service was friendly enough (though we had a temporary or substitute server, she was attentive and friendly). Strangely the other dude... chef, manager, or whomever, that also was bringing out our dishes, was in no way interested in clearing plates. (Which is kind of important when eating dim sum... especially when you have a toddler seated at the table). My other complaint was that on one of these lovely 100-degree days we were having this summer, being seated by the "other" doors caused us to get blasted by hot humid Nebraska air every time someone didn't feel like walking around to the main entrance. I get that those doors are needed for exiting, but some strategic signage would be much appreciated by dining room patrons. Especially come winter. Ultimately the food was just as good - if not better - than the west location. And that's what really counts. We'll visit again obviously. read more

We stopped on a weekday for lunch. The restaurant soon filled almost to capacity, which didn't exactly thrill us in these pandemic times. The menu is extensive, but we focused on dim sum, which is difficult to find in Omaha. There are several dozen options, pretty much what you would expect. The food here is consistently good, whatever you are apt to order. Our server spoke very little English, which resulted in one botched order, which was removed from our bill upon request. The restaurant is located in bustling Aksarben Village, with plenty of garage parking if you can't track down a spot in the street. Atmosphere is casual and modern, but comfortable. read more

We've been eating here a while now and I can honestly say they make the best lo mein I've tried in Omaha. The portions they serve are generous, the menu diverse enough to please even the pickiest of people. Egg rolls are always shatteringly crisp and delicious. Every Americanized chinese dish I've had here has been really good, it's our go-to now for most things. They also serve dim sum! Of their dim sum I have tried, I will say I like their pork dumplings and egg custard buns the best. I really want to like their BBQ pork buns but they could use a little more filling. I'm mostly grateful they even serve it at all. People more used to coastal eating may complain that the dim sum is not awaiting you on a cart when you arrive, but this is the Midwest and most people are not ordering it in high enough volumes for that. It's enough for me that they make it fresh. I can't comment on service because we have ordered to go for more than a year now, but we never had an issue before. I am so happy that Omaha has authentic dim sum. We ordered six dishes to share at lunch. The fresh shrimp spring rolls, shrimp rolls and taro cake were among the best I have had. The peanut sauce was perfect. The egg yolk bun was basically a dessert (I really wish that dim sum menus would label that for the undereducated like myself). It was a tasty mid-meal dessert. The steamed BBQ pork bun were good too I was saddened by the juicy pork dumplings. They look like Xiao long bao (Shanghainese soup dumplings) but they are not. No juice within. I was wondering why they were not served with a spoon - because it is not needed. . The meat inside was super pink and a bit tough. I'll pass on these next time. Service was super courteous. Sauces and soy condiments were empty and slopped up. My beer came 15 minutes before my wife's cocktail. We never received chopsticks and our last dish arrived about 15 minutes after the first three. Overall, taste was fine but the service needs work. Short staffed and dirty is a problem. I really wanted to like this place. I might try it one more time. Nah, finally got the Singapore noodles. Their food is a solid 12/10 my drink was a 10/10. I got the #45 meal, I don't remember the full name of it but it was basically meat, skinny noodles, shrimp, some veggies and a dry curry over all of it and honestly will probably be enough food for two more meals. I got a Long Island iced tea and it was very good. My server was sweet and definitely gave me my space so if you prefer a quiet night with little interruptions this is your place. Also the food came out quite fast especially for how much they give you! The only negative comment I have is that I was not greeted in the front of the restaurant or given any help as to if it was a seat yourself set up. The space inside isn't the biggest but they try to accommodate customers by suggesting the outside patio. The food is deeeelicious! The chicken and eggplant stew with salted fish is so good. It's one of my favorite. The turnip cake at some places tends to be soggy or it splits into pieces when you try to pick it up with utensils. It's different case at NGM. Awesome food! So mainly I eat the dimsum here and they are awesome. They are made with care and quality ingredients. The menu is fantastic and huge selection of food with pictures for reference. The atmosphere is chill modern and the service was great. We worked our way through about 10 courses including Dumplings, rice paper rolls with shrimp/ beef, some plate of greens with a sauce on it, chicken feet, ribs and a few others. I feel the need to update my previous review. There are a few things that Golden Mountain has definitely fixed and improved upon since they first opened. I have NOT returned for the dine-in dim sum service since the last bad experience, but I HAVE ordered it to go a few times with success- everything ready when I picked it up, still hot, and tasted fine. I may stick it doing it this way for a year or so till I am willing to risk waiting long periods for dine in. Another positive for the restaurant is they offer a great menu of traditional Chinese foods- with some pictures and in English- and easy to access online if you want to get take out. We've sampled off that menu a few times now (all carry out meals) and it's been really nice. I've liked all of the 5-8 things we have tried. On the "Authentic Menu" I suggest the salt and pepper pork chops and the chicken and eggplant stew with salted fish. Both are great choices for someone who wants to try something safe and new because you're branching out from Ameri- Sesame Chicken (I'm not judging, I love it too). FOUR STARS for their take out service and meals, but still at THREE STARS for the dine in. read more

I ordered the cashew shrimp with lo mein, but I can only tell you how good the cashew chicken is because that's what they brought me instead. It was good. My friend asked for salt and the server brought him some pepper.. so then he asked for salt instead and the server left to find some and... went home? We will never know because he never came back and we had no server for the following hour. The food was good, I must admit. My fortune was: "Dessert CAN make you happy." New Gold Mountain has great takeout Chinese. The Singapore noodles are one of my favorites with a great curry flavor.

I travel a lot for work and I make it a point to eat at all kinds of restaurants and try everything the server recommended. The steamed pork dumplings at New Gold Mountain were beyond words wonderful. I'm telling you the soft dough dumpling with the pork in the middle was one of the best things I've eaten in a long time. I've had friends recommend that I go to New Gold Mountain, but I just never made it out there. Then I find out that this Gold Mountain has opened in Aksarben. It's much closer to my usual haunts so I stopped by with a friend. I've only had their dim sum so far, and well, let me face it. I just really like dim sum so it might take me a while to branch out. The pan-fried turnip cake was the perfect consistency, easy to cut and yet stiff enough to pick up without falling apart. The turnip flavors were not bitey but complimented the deep umami flavors too. I genuinely think the custard yolk bun almost made me cry it was so good (I blame nostalgia factors). Its contents are just a delightful squishy balance of sweet and fluff. Even if you aren't going full-on dim sum, I recommend grabbing the custard yolk bun as dessert. It is just that good. Admittedly, the sticky rice inside the Lotus leaf could have been a bit more sticky, but the taste was exactly what I expected, flavorful and savory. The shrimp dumplings, pork dumplings, and spring roll were also all equally enjoyable. I really enjoyed Gold Mountain's dim sum. I did however leave them only a four-star rating for now. I plan to be back to see if it can be improved. In my mind, they already have five-stars, but I'm not bothered by service the way others can be. The wait staff is learning, shall we say. They did nothing explicitly wrong. They were friendly, checked on us repeatedly(possibly too frequently), and kept our water full. However it was the subtle things. They would lightly tap / bump into chairs as they made it about the restaurant and seemed unsure how to retrieve dishes from the table without turning it into a direct interaction every time. There were other tells too, but those were the ones that could be annoying. Regardless, that is the sort of thing that is just a growing pain so I believe they will move past it. YAY decent dim sum in Omaha! I've only tried Canton House prior to this and I think that New Gold Mountain has better dim sum. I wish I could compare this new location to their other location, but that was a bit too far of a drive for me. New New Gold Mountain (heh, get it?) is very modern and definitely one of the nicer dim sun restaurants I've been in, although that's expected as it's located in Aksarben. My friend and I were the first ones there on Sunday at 11, right when they opened and shortly after, the place filled up. They were well staffed, with at least 6 servers working. We ordered: -steamed char siu bao (2/5) too bready, not enough filling -shumai (3/5) AKA shrimp and pork dumpling, it was standard -pork dumpling (4/5) I preferred this over the shumai -tripe w/ginger and onion (5/5) flavor was spot on, although it was rather oily -stuffed bean curd skin (1/5) not what I was expecting, bean curd skin was oily and not soft, basically stuffed with the same stuff in the pork dumpling, thought it'd be veggies and non ground meat -beef rice noodle roll, char siu noodle roll (2/5) sauce was oily and not much of it, noodle wasn't as soft as I'm used to, very little filling -turnip cake (4/5) could be a little crispier -baked char siu bao (5/5) my favorite thing! So so good, plenty of filling slightly sweet bread that was warm and soft Left stuffed with some leftovers for ~$40. (All the dishes we got ranged from $3.50-$4.95, didn't order any of the $8.95). Service was good, we were checked up on and she came and kept us updated on how our food was coming along. Will definitely come back for the baked char siu bao and tripe! I do wish they had jellyfish, xiao long bao (soup dumplings),and dou fu fa (a silky tofu pudding served with ginger syrup), but this place already exceeds my expectations for Omaha. read more
