We purchased and had installed carpets (Shaw) from this company twelve years ago. I've been regretting that decision now for twelve years. The guys who installed the carpet, were a father and his son. His son stayed around for 2 hours, then left. I had a discussion with the father about installation, and one time he looked at me and said: "I hate this carpet!" I don't know what sparked him to say that, but it was in a voice as if he was ten years old. He finished the installation and I tipped him $15 (although I shouldn't have). The next day or so, I looked at the carpet and noticed a gap, so I called New Horizon and let them know. The person who answered the phone seemed surprised and said he would take care of it. He sent the same person back, who was angry. I showed him the gap, and he hit the carpet several times and emphatically told me: "That's the way it's supposed to be!" Then, as he was leaving, he looked at me and said in his immature angry voice: "I HATE this carpet!" I was glad to see him leave, and never wanted to see this guy again. Because the man at New Horizon sent that same immature guy back who threatened me and did a lousy job, made me distrust the company. He should have sent a manager back. He should have sent someone who was responsible and cared about the customer to fix the job. But he did not. He was complacent. read more

I had two guys come out to put flooring in and it looked great and then when they left I looked closer and It seems to be a horrible job. Their cut have wide gaps and to the wall in many areas. There are supposed to return to finish job tomorrow but even if they add the quarter rounds to edges no way will it fix the gaps. I wanted a professional job and they are charging a lot so I should get a professional job. I plan on calling first thing in the morning to see if they can get this done right! Great place for any flooring. I have used them for carpet and most recently a new waterproof laminate floor in my home remodel. They did my kitchen , living room and dining room. There are moments as a business owner that you earn a customer for life and moments when you lose a customer for life (along with the 20 others that you've shared your experience with) Sad to say they lost me here, after 30 years of doing business together. We had severe cat urine damage from a tenant, we explained this when they came out, New Horizon's assured us it was not that severe and new carpet and pad would fix the issue. We REPEATEDLY asked them to change tactless stripping and if needed call us to treat floor. They assured me if the tactless stripping was wet or damaged they would change it but highly unlikely. Sure enough, they only replaced about 12 inches of tactless stripping. Our odor issue was not resolved. Long story short we had to remove all carpet, pad, tactless and drywall. But the kicker is...New Horizons would not stand behind the work, they wanted to charge to remove and replace. Upset a customer for probably $50.00 worth of apartment grade carpet (they have a million rolls on site) and labor-my opinion?-bad decision. I am sad and disappointed and honestly shocked. Slander?? Let's just tell "my" Truth and Facts: I needed 10'X14' piece of carpet for a garage office. Small, easy, job. I bought my home in 1995. It was originally built in 1991 and New Horizon Carpet put this carpet in that has held up quite nicely, so this was my very first time buying carpet. I called New Horizon Carpet and the current owner, Rick Gumm Sr. and his son came out to my home to give me a quote. I picked a sample and never got another quote based on the reputation of New Horizon Carpet. I was wrong! Not the same owners. After two failed attempts with faulty carpet, I was told to find another company to buy and install. If/when, I returned the "entire" section of the faulty second carpet, only then would I get my money back. I immediately found Miller & Sons, Carpet One and Neal Adams took care of me promptly. They did the new install right away and graciously returned all the faulty carpet to New Horizon. A real run around and spiteful demand. It took many days for Rick Gumm Sr. to return my money and to treat customers the way I was treated, will not be tolerated. I would "never" use this company again. I went in to look for wood flooring. I am aware of the different options out there to select from. However, this Place had very little options for engineered or hard wood flooring. It did have an abundant amount for laminate, which I knew I did not want. If you are in the market for wood flooring, this place had very little to select from, although what they did have, was nice. Terrible experience! Bought a whole house full of carpet and linoleum from them and had it all installed. The installers were rude nasty even just downright mean. The linoleum installer Didn't know what he was doing the seams are not even approximated well. They took all the molding around my cabinets off to installed the linoleum and couldn't put it back because they had torn it up. I did make them replace it but they couldn't find a match so it's several shades off and looks horrible. I could go on and on about how horrible this was just beware. read more

Using New Horizon was the absolute worst decision and worst day of my life!!! I put in 3 checks, but really wanted to put in minus 3 checks. Yelp has a way of sorting things and I wanted the review left up! We used them on May 27 2016 and They out and out lied to us and when confronted with the lie and the obvious mistake, they resorted to name calling and making ultimatums!....They have a history of taking advantage of seniors!!!!! Richard Jr. Lied to us on 5 separate occasions and Rick Sr also lied to us, BUT more about Rick Sr. in a second! My name is Bill Gianakos I am 58 years old and you can find me on Facebook or email me at (THEY WONT LET ME USE IT)....I give you this information so that you can have a real person to talk to when asking about how I was treated!!!...and I am writing this 5 days later because I didn't want to write this in anger!! Richard Jr was asked on 5 separate occasions whether the rug could be installed when the tile is 1 1/4 inches high and on every occasion he said yes. We called him up and several occasions to once again make sure because we were being told different things and on EVERY occasion he insisted that they are trained professionals (LOL) and can easily do that! When the installer came in he immediately said it could not be done and when I called New Horizon and talked to Richard he all of sudden started to back track and started trying to say ":I never actually saw it" when I explained to him that he didn't have to see it that I gave him the measurements, he repeatedly would say. " well, I did not actually see it" and then I measured it in front of the installer and it came to the exact 1 1/4 inches I had told him for the past 5 weeks!!!!....He continued to back track and just say he didn't see it!!!! NO good ideas came forward from these so called "professionals" (LOL) NOTHING was offered to help in fixing this problem ...Then Richard Jr just hung up leaving us dumbfounded as what to do!!! Then Rick Sr. called up and started calling me names and my wife names and told us to take it or leave it knowing we were moving in the next day. I was flabbergasted. I have NEVER been treated in this manner and VERY badly wanted to walk out and find a legitimate carpet co but my wife was scared about not having a rug in when we moved in, so we gave in to his ultimatums.... I have NEVER seen a more unprofessional and rude business in my life. The UNBELIEVABLE and UNNECESSARY and UNWARRANTED name calling was beyond rude and I wish there was a way to have some recourse!!! I look back and wish I had trusted my instincts....I had asked them about the bad reviews and they very nicely explained them away.....That is why I am giving you the information to actually get in touch with me....There is no way to nicely talk away how they treated me..... They knew they made the mistake, the VERY obvious mistake and they still acted so INCREDIBLY rude to us and NEVER, NEVER even tried to offer a solution OR even offered ANY money back so that we could at least fix THEIR MISTAKE!!!!! Once again my name Is Bill Giankos and I am a real person who went through hell with these Jerks!!! We had just bought a home in Hemet which needed all new flooring but I was having a hard time deciding on which product to go with. Garrett in the showroom was ever so helpful. He explained the price differences between tile, carpet and vinyl plank as well as the durability of each. We ultimately decided on vinyl plank and he helped us reduce our choices down to 2. We were desperate for the old carpet to be torn out as it was stinky and nasty with old dog urine and the temperature was well over 100F every day! So the next day the owner and his son showed up for the measuring and gave us the quotes within minutes. They too helped us in our final selection and amazingly didn't try to convince us that the higher priced one would be better. Once they saw the condition of the existing carpet, they went over to where their installer was doing a job, and called us back within minutes to say that the old carpet would be torn out tomorrow (Saturday). The next morning Ron (the installer and ripper outer) got busy and by early afternoon had all the old carpet and tile gone!! No more nasty smell. We then coordinated installation around our painting schedule. It took 2 days to install, and the guys were very polite. The vinyl plank looks great. As for Cost, I had also been working with C&C carpet and New Horizons were $1,000 lower, plus they really went out of their way to accommodate our predicament. I highly recommend them. read more

I chose a carpet color and grade from a display at the store and requested that a sample from the roll be ordered to ensure everything matched up.The sample finally came in after nearly a week, and the piece was complete junk. Neither the color nor grade matched, and the owner who ordered it, Rick, even agreed that it did not match. His response was to tell me to go elsewhere (!). I guess I am to blame that the sample that came back was a piece of junk that did not match what I wanted to buy? In comparing my experience with the other posted reviews, it is obvious that the owners of this business do not treat all their customers alike. NEVER AGAIN!! The Carpet layer had the worst short man syndrome I ever dealt with! He scratched and dented several nice pieces of furniture would not take any responsibility, just kept telling me it was my fault because I had nice furniture. Figure that one out! Very poor customer service . You can leave messages for Rick until the cows come home and he won't call back. Told them I needed extremely durable, stain resistant, carpeting since I had 4 cats who are famous for their multi-colored fur balls. My carpet is only 8 months old now and the nap is worn down and I have many, many multicolored stains on it. I'm a senior citizen so I have bought lots of carpet and tile for many years and once scotchgard was invented have never before had a problem cleaning up after my cats. They carpeted over an heating vent, and over measured for 3 rooms of carpet. I have enough carpet left over to carpet another large room. Wait until you hear about the tile! Premium Vinyl....supposedly. Comes in large sheets in the store....I got my kitchen, kitchen foyer and laundry room tiled in strips! Not only that, but the strips were cut in wavy lines. It is very apparent where these strips are fitted together. Not only that, I had air bubbles under the tile and they wouldn't check on it until we made 3 or 4 phone calls. Soon after, the tile started coming loose along all those wavy seams. Finally, got them to re-glue the few areas. Not long after that, the same areas they re-glued came loose, along with additional areas. After multiple phone calls, they came out to re-glue again. The workers told me they don't usually use the "good" premium glue unless people request it and pay extra! I am so embarrassed of my carpets and tile. Over $4,300 dollars spent and not enough money to correct the mess.
