That sounded promising, and since they're under new management, we figured we'd give them another try for dinner. Big mistake. They haven't improved at all--in fact, they've gone downhill. What they served as a "New York strip" was the same thin steak you'd expect with a steak‑and‑eggs breakfast. A cigarette is probably the same thickness as the piece of meat they brought me. I ordered it medium‑rare, and it arrived with a gray center. They did offer to re‑cook it, but I wasn't about to go through that. There's simply no way to cook a steak that thin like an actual steak, so I didn't even bother letting them try again. We had dinner this Tuesday night, 4/01/25. My wife tried the Salmon Basílico. She said the red sauce was really tasty and would get it again but next time, order the pasta that comes with it instead of the baked potato she substituted. I tried the Greek style pork chops with baked potato. My only complaint, I didn't have enough of the Grecian juices with my chops...that was money! So I was recommended by a great customer of their fur lunch. Unfortunately my lunch was not prep according to what I order. My wings was not spun in Buffalo sauce, they are really wing dings or party wing. I ordered a Cesar salad without chicken or tomatoes or cheese. Well I had chicken, no tomatoes and no cheese and NO DRESSING. Who eats a salad without dressing. I tried calling several times and the calls just goes to Voice mail. Bad business and food! After a 5 day trip, no one wanted to cook - NEW HORIZON to the rescue. We've been coming here over 20 years and we are never disappointed! George is awesome and welcomes us when we come in and sees us out when we leave, it's like we are family! The soups are awesome with Cream of Chicken with Rice our favorite, but Split Pea is my close 2nd. Bread is baked daily and we love their specials. Tonight we ordered a couple of our favorites to go: Chopped Steak dinner and the Turkey dinner. Always good and great portion size. Oh, they also have great Ranch dressing. Lastly, I LOVE their Rice Pudding - it is the best I've ever had and I've tried it at many restaurants. They also have wonderful breakfasts, omelets are huge and very tasty. Food made fresh from a family run restaurant. Its the last of a dying breed. George and his staff are amazing. My go to order was always meatloaf with mashed potatoes. Real mashed potatoes! Been coming here for over 45 years and can't say I have ever got a bad meal. The owner and cook George is a super nice guy and mostly greets everybody who walks in the door. I just got the Greek Omelette with Spinach and Feta Cheese and I added Kalamata olives . It was so good . This place does just amazing food and all the ingredients are top notch . They let me substitute the hash browns for a side of veggies also and the green beans still had a bit of a crisp to them like they are supposed to be . Since the same woman (employee) is hell bent on basically harassing my wife for no reason whatsoever, she also flagged my previous review and it was removed. (She's one of the people who posted a five star review here, in case you were wondering.) So here's what you need to know about the restaurant as a restaurant and outside of my "personal issue": old-tasting bread. Watery "cream" soups (& I love cream soup). Too much money, not enough food. Appetizers are outrageously expensive for the amount of food received. Additionally--and perhaps the worst offense of all--they are unable to make a simple grilled cheese sandwich without burning it to a crisp. That's right...plan on scraping off half the bread unless you like your grilled cheese very...toasty. This seems to be especially if you're ordering carry out. Maybe because you can't send it back or request for it to be remade, I don't know. Anyway, not worth your hard-earned money. read more

I haven't been to New Horizon in years. And by years I *literally* mean years! I was very leary about going as my friend recently gave them a one star rating during Snow-pocalypse 2011. With this restaurant being walking distance from my home I recently gave it another shot. There was no disappointment from myself or my guest. In fact, we were shocked at how large the portion sizes were. By were I mean that there was hardly anything left by the time we devoured our meals. The food was tasty our personal favorite was the soup which was home-made and amazing! While there the owner, George gave me extra napkins (upon request) and even informed me about them officially having free Wi-Fi and a Facebook page. I immediately thought of those late nights I am stuck doing homework. This news was thrilling! When I got a chance, I liked the Facebook page and found that if you check in at New Horizon while dining in and mention it that you will receive a free appetizer.
