A brief stop to see if the nice folks could take a look at my ebike and perhaps replace the bent sprocket. Friendly, helpful but they did not have the part in stock. would like to add to my original review.. went in to speak with mary about updating my bike.. have a top of the line aventon ramblas.. needed something with a throttle etc.. spoke with her about trading my ramblas in, it was showroom clean with only 94 miles on it in the limited edition color.. with a smoke but rudely she responded with-- well we don't take trade ins on bikes that weren't purchased here!! i thought wow ok!! i left and went to norms bike shop up in keene nh and purchased TWO new aventon from him.. no sakes tax and no setup fees which at horizon would have been 300$ for two bikes plus 250$ in sales tax.. norms will be getting my business from now on. very polite, friendly and easy purchase!!!! read more

I brought my daughters bike in because the brakes weren't working. They told me that my daughter needed a bigger bike, there were a few things wrong with the bike and basically we'd be better off putting the money into a new bike. I explained we didn't have the money for a new bike right now and we want to just get the brakes fixed. They were very polite and didn't talk down to us because we couldn't afford one of their expensive bikes. They did a great job fixing my daughters bike and she is so happy. So at first blush this place seemed great... and now that they have my money and I have my bike that's where the honey moon ended. I'm quite disappointed from their lackadaisical response and concern about my new bike front wheel issue. Just to far to drive for a shop who already made their money and had zero concern to go through the bike when it arrived properly to make a 4th trip up there for another fix. Since then I've found a more reputable Orbea dealer, who has managed to secure me a new wheel from the manufacturer. I've also had a slew of issues which, I can tie back directly to their "mechanic" who clearly just didn't care when putting my bike together or doesn't have a clue as to what he's doing. They didn't even go through my husbands bike at all or they would have dusted it cleaned it and set the rear derailleur limit screw and my bike being misaligned and not indexed properly..... poor application of stickers to just general laziness. Lesson learned people... don't just "buy" the sales person... guess I should have known when I was the only person to write their first and only review so far. Ps this written on two bikes that were purchased new both with problems. Thankfully we traded my husbands bike before he was even more disappointed than I currently am. Mary knew from looking at me my size and not only that but then sized me right there to ensure accuracy. I've always been a fan of the Local Bike Shop (LBS) over the big commercial or online venture. They're always bike people, working to serve bike people. If you are a bike person, then you'll immediate get that this is what Don, Mary, and New Horizons offers. When we were house shopping in Westfield, my wife and I stopped in to see what we would be using once we moved here. There are pumps by the front door, and a repair shop 20 feet front the front door. Then to see the owner working in the repair area, and talking to him, you immediately feel a sense of comfort that this LBS will care for your investment. This isn't a businessman-first, afraid to get his hands greasy kind of place. He knows his stuff. This summer, my wife and I took a 300+ mile bike tour with friends. We upgraded one bike, and put in considerable work to the other. If you are wise enough to listen to the LBS pros, you'll get the best fit for the right price. The fit was comprehensive and effective. The gear, and accessory advice was spot on - Don does rides just like this, and speaks from experience. Very helpful staff, and a variety of products. they do a great job on selling you a product you WANt at a price you can afford. they do not try to sell you the most expensive item just to get the money. My mother bought me a bike with a bike seat on it for my daughter from this business. They showed her the options for the bike seats; one was apparently the 'trendy' (albeit unsafe and expensive choice) and the more reliable and safe choice. They even recommended for my mother to purchase the less expensive seat because it was far more safer (not that my mother wouldve bought they unsafe 'trendy' version anyways... not for HER granddaughter). They even helped her hook up a bike rack on her car eventhough she had not purchased the rack itself from their business. They are super helpful and super friendly. All the bikes me and my brothers and sisters had as kids were purchased from them, which proves they have been around for awhile and obviously know their stuff. read more
