I had my wife's bike worked on last month and my gravel bike was worked on recently. Steve is a great 'wrench'.

I was referred to this shop to have an electric bike that needed a new brand of brake installed…read more When I came in they said sorry we have an email circulating from some organization group of dealers saying not to help people with bikes that were sold by Leckric. They said it was because Lectric didn't have insurance and they didn't want to be responsible. I called back the people doing the recall for them and asked questions from their insurance broker (Sedgwick) and they said they do have product liability insurance and they have paid out on and hand full of claims and that is why they have a voluntary caliper recall. They even shared the details of the 3-4 claims entailed, Maybe the woman I spoke with was at store was misinformed but I did get the feeling it was a bit of collusion among local bike shops to not help anyone that didn't buy their bike from them but we're specifically singling out Lectric whom I feel makes a pretty good e-bike. I have 3 of them over 4 years. I support any business to make the decision to refuse service but believe it is a short sighted decision. Don't you think I would share my experience with neighbors and friends in the area. Have you ever heard of a mechanic saying well I didn't sell you the Toyota so I am not going to repair it. OK so here is the good news and hopefully helpful to the others that had gone to the shop and told they are out of luck. Bottom line is I took it to another place in Vernon (Pedal Power) and they did it fast plus a tune up for 99 dollars.. Steve at Pedal Power is wonderful. I even asked him by phone if he was sure he would do it before I got in the car again. He said of course. We do repairs on bicycles and e-bikes. I could understand if they didn't have parts or we're not familiar with the electronics oven specific E bike, but this was just replacing a brake caliper and electric had sent me a brand new namebrand part. I would definitely go to pedal power as they stick by you even if you didn't purchase your bike from them. I will definitely buy anything bike related in the future from them because they see business as a long term relationship. I am sure they would even repair any bikes sold by bicycles East should they go out of business. Isn't that the way it should work? Electricians work on houses they didn't build, plumbers work on plumbing that they did not install, and again I'm all for companies, making a profit. Just decide what dollar value it is worth to do it and let the consumer choose whether or not it's too high or not. The first shop I gave 2 stars because he seemed to feel bad for my situation (Main Street in Glastonbury) but this place - Bicycle East - seem to feel vindicated that they would not do it.. Very Short sighted .. so that is why 1 star. I will save you from even having to search.. Go to this place https://www.pedalpowerct.com/ (Vernon Location) near Reins Deli and you can grab a sandwich and or visit Costco who is nearby while you wait.

The vibe in the shop is not hard sell, they are open and honest and make good suggestions. They do rides out of the shop, some clinics, indoor rides and stuff during the off season too so you know they are into the community. String recommend.

So this review has taken me some time to write due to getting to know the friendliest peeps and…read moreowner at Cutting Edge! As you can see from my other reviews of other bike shops, I've not had the best of luck. From stores that only push certain brands to stores that treated me great til they got my money.... it's hard in today's day and age of the internet where to go and how you will be treated. Let me tell you the guys at Cutting Edge have been hands down WONDERFUL at every turn. Not only did they more than willingly go thru bikes with my husband but also with me. The fact that they were so thorough and knowledgeable about the bikes they have, including my current riding disciplines. They have a varied selection of all kinds of bikes and if there is something you're interested in but don't see, just ask. They also have a used section that is available to the public. So what makes these guys great? They all have their own personalities and talents, but they are so harmonious and that's rare and lends its self to a lack of competition against each other for sales and puts the customers needs and wants first!! An equal great point is they are able to point out things to me that helped my cycling and make suggestions without being overbearing or putting sales first. These guys know how to generate true repeat business by fostering real relationships with every customer that comes in. Which is why on the third visit there we felt more than comfortable to trade in my husbands bike and upgrade him to a full suspension bike! He ABSOLUTELY loves his new bike and they just turned my bike from a 2x10 drive train to a 1x10 drivetrain and for a more than reasonable price!!! Craig this is how you do it and other businesses could learn from you, but they just don't even fit in the same category as you and your store!!!! Please extend a HUGE THANK YOU TO YOUR STAFF as they totally earn it everyday!!!!

They said it should be ready by Thursday and I told them that it was supposed to be done the previous Thursday. He looked again and asked Dif my bike was a grey trek and did it have "some sort of tool" next to the water bottle cage. I told him it was grey and had a bike pump there and he said "Oh, it's ready". No one called and I sort of expect a bike repair shop to know what a pump is. Came to pick it up and they rung me up. The $89 tuneup was 189 because they replaced a bunch of parts. He seemed unsurprised that they didn't call to ask about the extra charges and said "we always call" which I pointed out was clearly not the case. There was $40 in extra labor and honestly considering the issues of saying my bike wasn't ready and then that it was, and not having called me to ask about extras or to let me know that it was ready, I would have credited that $40 back if I owned this store. The work seems like it was well done but this isn't the way to run a business.
