New Yorker here. First thing to know is that my mother (Brooklyn native) and I had an unbelievably, almost comically terrible Chinese dinner from Nim's Garden (which is also in Milton). I guess I should have known we were in trouble there, since there doesn't seem to be anyone of Chinese origin that works there. The egg drop soup was clear, gelatinous, and bland, the chow mein ... didn't look or taste like chow mein, and my shrimp & veg dish in white sauce was bland. We needed revenge, so we tried China Fun. Mums dispatched me to pick up an order of egg drop soup first, so I could bring it home for a taste test. If it passed, we'd order entrees, and I'd go back. It passed! It was the right color (yellow), and it actually smelled and tasted of eggs! We decided to commit and order dinner -- Fried Shrimp appetizer, Orange Chicken Combo, and Hunan Triple Crown. The fried shrimp was good, and I enjoyed the Human Triple Crown, although the "lobster" looked more like a fat crab stick. I'll let it pass. The sauce was good and the dish was flavorful. The shrimp and scallops were fine, and there was enough mixed vegetables to balance it all out. Mums enjoyed her orange chicken. The egg roll with her combo was a little lackluster -- thin and small -- but the interior was far superior to Nim's, which had been an unappetizing grey colored mess of cabbage. We're not going to try to compare China Fun to the best Chinese restaurants on the planet. But for Milton, it's pretty darned good. My mother likes that it is family owned, and we appreciate the friendly staff, and authentic food. I have read reviews here that say that China Fun is misleading people by saying it is "dine in". They're not misleading you; there are nice, tablecloth covered tables and chairs inside. But it isn't a *restaurant*. You go up to the counter and put in your order (or call it in), and from there, you can take it to a table if you like, or go elsewhere. I love these kinds of places! This is our go to for Chinese food. I just wish they were open on Mondays. The food is great and my boys love it as well.

Pretty standard Togo Chinese with a few wrinkles. They use white meat chicken instead of dark meat. They also have more self control with the sodium. So they are healthier. A few items are not as flavorful as I would expect. Probably related. My favorites include chicken fried rice, the stir fries that use multiple vegetables plus either shrimp or chicken, and the sweet and sour. The vegetable low mein is very hit or miss, mostly miss. The service was fast and friendly however the food was extremely unimpressive. Shrimp and lobster sauce shrimp are large and overcooked the sauce terrible. The only good thing about my meal was the egg roll. Advertised as dine in or take out. Take out only. My husbands food was extremely bland. My second visit here. The first was above average, this time was below average, so three stars overall. I got a large dinner portion of beef and broccoli today and it was ~90% broccoli, 10% beef...and that is guessing on the favorable side for China Fun. I had to dig down about half way into the carton to find the first piece of beef, and digging further didn't bring an exultant "Yay!", but rather a "WTF? Where's the beef?" Plus, "spicy and hot" means nothing, I suppose. I've drank water spicier than what I had tonight. I don't expect a sweating brow and fiery tongue, but I expect **something**. I couldn't discern anything remotely spicy in my $11 worth of food. I did order a few shrimp eggrolls. These were pretty good, although the versions at the take-out joint next to Winn-Dixie on the Bypass are much, much better. Friendly lady behind the counter. The place seems clean enough. But total lack of meat. If I'm paying that much, I'm going to need a better meat/veggie ratio. I'll go back, but I won't expect much. I was disappointed, but not discouraged. Yet. First I've never felt the need to write a review on here.... But this place ... I got the sesame chicken with fried rice. The chicken was drenched in sauce that tasted like it was the cheap freezer section of a gas station. The rice had hunks of onion, corn, and red peppers that was not advertised. 3.5 so rounding up to 4. Decent Chinese take out - every main dish that we have tried has come out great as has the rice. Szechuan chicken, beef and broccoli, hunan chicken, moo-goo-gai pan, and various fried rides have been exactly what we have expected. Sides are a different story: while the wonton soup has been fine it occasionally has a ginger aftertaste, and the spring rolls have been 0 for 2 so far, and we probably won't order those again. Bumping them up a little are they have always been friendly to us and the restaurant is clean with pretty reasonable pricing and a huge menu. read more

This place is tucked away off Hwy 90 but don't be fooled, it is AWESOME!!! We've ordered the house lo mein, sesame chicken, and house fried rice. All were amazing! Flavorful, hot, great portions! The family that owns this spot has been here for at least 15 years and my family has gotten to know them fairly well in that time. The food is great and the price is more than fair. I usually get the lunch hibachi and it's always on point and consistent. The atmosphere is pretty basic,but for a small mom and pop run eatery I really don't expect a dining cloth clad table with wine and candles! I haven't ever been completely dissatisfied with the place and they know my order by heart. Plus if you ask they'll prepare something off the menu for you and they'll always make a dish spicier if you request. So all-in-all this spot is a great way to get a quick bite for lunch or even a filling dinner. read more

The day before I went off to Pace to visit my brother, I was craving Chinese food bad. As soon as I got to Pace we ordered from China Fun. I was amazed at how similar the food was to that of PF Changs, and how much more reasonable the price is. I recommend the honey chicken and beef lo mein. No need for a long drawn out review for China Fun... It's the best "take-out" Chinese restaurant in the Pensacola / Pace / Milton area! Not sure what is up with this area, but some how every Chinese restaurant we have tried has brought great dishonor to the fried rice family name. China Fun does it right! Their food is the closest thing to authentic style Chinese cuisine you will ever get at a takeout style restaurant. Everything we have ever ordered from here tastes great, is always fresh, and always prepared very quickly. Don't waste your time trying other rocky horror picture take out joints in the area, go to China Fun.. because... It's fun, and delicious! read more

I'm not sure if we caught them on a bad night, or if their food is always this bad... But we ordered takeout on a Sunday, paid $30 for it, and none of it was palatable. Sesame chicken, fried rice, general chicken, lo mein, crab rangoons, and egg rolls - not a single thing was good!! It tasted like old oil and bad decisions. We will never eat here again, holy crap. Their food is overwhelmingly bad. I've eaten a lot of Chinese food in my life, and it takes a lot to mess it up, but somehow they managed. So bad! read more

Coming here after being in Japan for 4 yrs it was quite an adjustment to eat Chinese food in the states, but this place made it a lot easier transition. We have tried Several in the area and this is the only one we recommend. Both of the Chinese Restaurants we frequented while in Japan were absolutely amazing but we have been over seas before with similar experiences. Stateside versions just aren't the same. One thing we fell in love with in Japan was Yakasoba (a traditional Japanese noodle dish served in many of the local shops). The first time we tried China Fun's Lo Mein we were thrilled as it had a similar taste & texture to our old favorite. Although that has become our most frequent buy (from their very affordable combination platter options); we have tried several dishes most of which we thoroughly enjoyed. We have had all their Lo Mein options (Pork, Chicken & Beef) and they were all wonderful. Their Combo platter comes with Pork Fried Rice, which we all enjoy, and an eggroll. We really enjoy the eggrolls here and they seem to be some of the best in the area. Many of the places, we have been to here, have eggrolls that are pink inside, I don't know what they put in them but it really does not end up to an appealing flavor in my opinion. China Funs are similar to the hundreds I have eaten over the years in the many places we have lived & traveled. Other favorites at China Fun are Sesame Chicken (sweet only not spicy) & Spicy General Chicken (my husband likes his spicy food). I ordered Sesame Chicken at another restaurant in the area and basically it was just their Spicy General Chicken with Sesames on top not what I was expecting & I could not eat it as it was way too hot. China Funs has a wonderful sweet flavor to it. My husband on the other hand loves their Spicy General Chicken here though; which I believe is similar just with the Spicy flare & no sesames. We all also enjoy their Jumbo shrimp appetizer they are large & fresh every time served with sweet & sour sauce. A few others we have tried that are Good but not enough to sway us too far from our favorites are the Crab Rangoon, Doughnuts, Almond Chicken, Sweet & Sour Chicken and/or Pork, and Beef Broccoli. A couple Tips: I would recommend is pay attention to the options that are mixed with a variety of vegetables. If you love vegetables this is great but be prepared you will get huge chunks and Mostly vegetables. I'm not a huge fan of carrots & celery which is what was the main event in the Almond Chicken, the flavor, however, to the dish was amazing. They are also really good about keeping certain things out or adding others (I usually add mushrooms to these type dishes & take out the celery & carrots). When ordering anything with 'crab' in it - be prepared that it is Artificial crab & not the good stuff. It is rubbery and not the flavor I prefer and they put a lot in it. I recommend asking them to leave it out all together but if you are adventurous maybe ask them to go easy on the crab. One of the best tips I can offer is this though: If you will be 'taking out' instead of dining in you can really make the dollar stretch with this little tip if you like the Lo Mein & Rice. Order your favorite Lo Mein & Favorite Rice in the large sizes and a small side of white rice. Bring them home, in a LARGE frying pan cook a few scrambled eggs almost till done. Add both the fried & white rice, add a little soy sauce then stir in the Lo Mein. This has become one of our family favorites and it cuts our take out in half as there is more than enough for our family of 4 with this option. read more

I just bought the lunch special to go. Asked for General Tso's Chicken and got something like Orange Chicken w/ no veggies at all. The egg roll was not good at all. No crisp fresh cabbage or bean sprouts. The rice was OK, but even the Orange chicken, which was supposed to be spicy, had no real taste at all, just sweet. I have had a terrible time since moving to this area to find decent tasting Chinese food. Thought I would try this place but it was a bust for me. read more

Not good chinese food. The sesame chicken was not white meat and did not look like chicken on the inside. The outside of the chicken was not cooked evenly. I have ate some of the hibachi before and it tasted gross. Not sure how you can mess up hibachi. read more
