I had the midnight munchies and this place was open until 11 pm! I ordered at their touch screen ordering station and food was ready in about 20 min. I got there close to11:40 and food was ready just before they closed. So thankful this places opened late as I have not had the time or energy to cook caring for an infant. The food was still hot when I got home and delicious. The orange chicken and beef n broccoli dishes did not come with white rice so you'll have to order that separately. They also had the option of medium or large size. I got the medium and thought it was already good portion size. I don't normally tip for to-go orders but this time I did. I went in today for the first time. The man taking my order didn't even say hello. After he took my order he rudely said it would take 15 minutes. Ok? He then brings my dining in order in a to go bag. There was only 1 soy sauce packet in the bag so I went and asked him for more soy sauce and then he rudely says he put a lot of soy sauce in the bag lol. I told him I could show him. Good ingredients good recipe well prepared but it had a potential of being a nice healthy meal except it was very very high in sodium. After eating it, I felt like I did something to hurt myself. So, a message for the restaurant. Your food is really good, but please lower the sodium to about a quarter of what you are using now. Chow fun has that wok hay, that unmistakable hot fire taste you can't get just anywhere. Someone compared it to Pad sew which is Thai and nowhere near the same flavors or end result. Their fried rice is legit as well. This is the only place where the breathe of the wok still exists. The person cooking this food can cook legit Cantonese. This review is based on my first experience with Big Chopsticks. I ordered on a Thursday, and ordered the Orange chicken, and Beef & Broccoli. Their lunch special, which not only has a nice discounted price, also comes with steamed rice. I placed my order over the phone for pick up at around 3:50pm, with the cut off for the lunch special being at 4pm and the man over the phone said it was no problem to charge for the lunch price which was nice! After picking up the order myself, they also have the deal Monday-Friday 3pm-5pm is 30% off your order, that applied with the lunch special was a crazy deal! I think it came out to about $15 for both with rice! $7.50 each! As for the food, I would say it was above average, it was better than some other places which charge a lot more for the same thing. The portion sizes were a lot more than I expected which was a nice surprise, even had enough for left overs as a nice snack later! I preferred the orange chicken over the beef & broccoli but both were very good. I expected the orange chicken to have an edge anyways as it's such a popular item! I have seen some pretty bad reviews for this place, but I can tell you from experience, that my trip was great! It's crazy how the reviews are all over the place for this restaurant. I have only had their food to-go once so I can only vouch for this one experience, but everything came out hot, flavorful, and in very large portions. I especially enjoyed the orange chicken, despite its deceiving appearance. The eggplant dish was flavorful and had large chunks of eggplant. The hot and sour soup was really tasty as well. We debated it for a bit after reading some of the reviews but went with our gut and decided to give it a shot....and boy are we glad we did! I ordered the chicken chow mein and my husband ordered the Mongolian beef and both were delicious! He tried some of my meal and I tried some of his and we were impressed by how good it was. The meat wasn't dry, undercooked, or too salty, it was just right. The noodles were delicious as well. And they serve you enough food to have leftovers for a second meal which is nice.
